In Brazil, nasal irrigation is a common procedure for children hospitalized with respiratory conditions. However, it often causes stress for both the child and their family. Nurses need to rethink their approach to care, and the use of therapeutic play can be an ally in transforming the stressful context. To understand the family perceptions of nasal irrigation in hospitalized children after an educational intervention mediated by instructional therapeutic play (ITP). This descriptive, exploratory, and qualitative study was conducted from the perspective of Herbert Blumer’s Symbolic Interactionism in a hospital in São Paulo, Brazil. The study included family members of hospitalized children aged 3–6 years who participated in an ITP intervention and remained for 6 hours afterward. Participants self-reported literacy with preserved cognition and verbal communication. This study was conducted between March 2023 and January 2024 using semi-structured interviews with 38 family members. Data were analyzed using Bardin’s thematic content and lexical analysis with IRAMUTEQ® software. The interaction of families with ITP for nasal irrigation in children led to a redefinition of the procedure from distressing to enjoyable. ITP was evaluated as an essential and stimulating method that familiarized the child with the procedure, facilitating the understanding process for both the child and the family. Background: The adoption of electronic health records (EHRs) has revolutionized healthcare delivery, offering potential benefits for enhancing the quality and safety of pediatric nursing care. However, the effective implementation and utilization of EHRs in pediatric settings present unique challenges. Objectives: This systematic review aims to critically analyze the available literature on the role of EHRs in improving various aspects of pediatric nursing care, including clinical documentation, medication management, care coordination, and patient engagement. Methods: A comprehensive search of multiple electronic databases (PubMed, CINAHL, Embase, and Cochrane Library) was conducted to identify relevant studies published between January 2000 and March 2023. Eligible studies included randomized controlled trials (RCTs), observational studies, and qualitative research investigating the impact of EHRs on pediatric nursing care outcomes. Study selection, data extraction, and quality assessment were performed by two independent reviewers. Results: Out of 1,257 records, 28 studies (12 RCTs, 10 observational, 6 qualitative) were included, involving 3,642 pediatric patients and 1,278 healthcare professionals. EHRs were associated with a 20% improvement in clinical documentation completeness. However, initial implementation was associated with increased documentation time. EHRs with computerized provider order entry (CPOE) reduced medication errors by 30%, but initial training challenges were noted. Redundant testing was reduced by 15%, and care continuity improved by 25% with EHR implementation. Key themes from qualitative research included increased patient involvement in care decisions and improved satisfaction with care processes. Conclusion: EHRs have the potential to enhance various aspects of pediatric nursing care, including improved documentation, medication management, care coordination, and patient engagement. Nonetheless, successful implementation requires addressing system usability, interoperability, and user acceptance through comprehensive training, workflow redesign, and ongoing technical support. It evaluates whether current approaches to health communication are in-line with a child’s rights-based approach.An integrative review using a systematic literature search strategy.In July 2022, 9 databases were searched including: Medline (Ovid), Embase (Ovid), Scopus (Elsevier), Cochrane Library, EBSCO (host), Web of Science Core Collection, CINHIAL plus, psychINFO and PsychEXTRA.Following title and abstract screening 41 articles went through to full-text screening. These were uploaded into NVivo v.12 for analysis. Results were analysed using content analysis with a deductive coding framework informed by the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. A total of 20 articles met all inclusion criteria and were assessed of high quality using the Mixed Methods Appraisal Tool.Nurses communicate health messages using a variety of strategies, some of which align with the rights of the child. No evidence was found of nurses communicating health messages through play or creative activities or by adopting principles and practice of continuity of care, including health communication beyond the paediatric context.Opportunities exist for improvements to the rights of children and adolescents within nursing practice. Background: Quality caregiver-infant interaction is crucial for infant growth, health, and development. Traditional methods for evaluating the quality of caregiver-infant interaction have predominantly relied on rating scales or observational techniques. However, rating scales are prone to inaccuracies, while observational techniques are resource-intensive. The utilization of easily collected medical records in conjunction with machine learning techniques offers a promising and viable strategy for accurate and efficient assessment of caregiver-infant interaction quality. Methods: This study was conducted at a follow-up outpatient clinic at two tertiary maternal and infant health centers located in Shanghai, China. 68 caregivers and their 3-15-month-old infants were videotaped for 3–5 min during playing interactions in non-threatening environment. Two trained experts utilized the Infant CARE-Index (ICI) procedure to assess whether the caregivers were sensitive or not in a dyadic context. This served as the gold standard. Predictors were collected through Health Information Systems (HIS) and questionnaires, which included accessible features such as demographic information, parental coping ability, infant neuropsychological development, maternal depression, parent-infant interaction, and infant temperament. Four classification models with fivefold cross-validation and grid search hyperparameter tuning techniques were employed to yield prediction metrics. Interpretable analyses were conducted to explain the results. Results: The score of sensitive caregiver-infant interaction was 6.34 ± 2.62. The Random Forest model gave the best accuracy (83.85%±6.93%). Convergent findings identified infant age, care skills of infants, mother age, infant temperament-regulatory capacity, birth weight, positive coping, health-care-knowledge-of-infants, type of caregiver, MABIS-bonding issues, ASQ-Fine Motor as the strongest predictors of interaction sensitivity between infants and their caregiver. Conclusions: The proposed method presents a promising and efficient approach that synergistically combines rating scales and artificial technology to detect important features of caregiver-infant interactions. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the factors influencing pediatric nurses' job stress, including their level of fatigue and partnerships with the parents of patients. This investigation aimed to findings of this study may lead to the development of strategies to reduce pediatric nurse's job stress. Design and Methods: Participants were recruited from pediatric, pediatric intensive care, and neonatal intensive care units across seven general hospitals. Eligibility requires a minimum of 6 months of experience in pediatric nursing. The sample size was determined using the G*power program, considering various variables, including age, marital status, presence of children, and work‐related characteristics, leading to a final sample size of 135, adjusted for a 10% dropout rate. Data collection was conducted through self‐report questionnaires, and analysis involved frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, t‐tests, ANOVA, and stepwise multiple regression, using SPSS Statistics 27.0. Results: This study confirmed a significant correlation between pediatric nurses' fatigue and job stress, with higher levels of fatigue associated with increased job stress. Stepwise regression analysis showed that fatigue and age were significant predictors of job stress among pediatric nurses, explaining 23% of the variance. However, detailed analysis showed that younger nurses had lower job stress scores compared to older nurses. This result suggests that more experienced nurses may experience higher job stress due to increased responsibilities and emotional burdens. Practice Implications: This study identified the need for effective strategies to manage fatigue and reduce job stress among pediatric nurses during the COVID‐19 pandemic. Younger nurses, particularly those under 25 and between 26 and 30 years old, experience lower job stress compared to older nurses. Comprehensive support systems should be developed, including workload management, emotional support, and programs to enhance partnerships between nurses and parents. These strategies can improve job satisfaction and the quality of care provided to young patients. This scoping review mapped the academic literature focused on the therapeutic itinerary of children who seek care in health services and proposed an explanatory model to expand the concept and classification of these health itineraries. A total of 789 articles were reviewed, of which 28 were eligible for inclusion. In these 28 it was possible to observe that the child's therapeutic itinerary is more than a physical path, but also encompasses all choices within a specific social and cultural environment in which the child is inserted. Our proposal is to expand the concept beyond the therapeutic, classifying the itinerary also according to the objective, the decision‐making agent, respect for the presence of company, the health subsystem used, according to the physical continuity of the itinerary, the perception of efficacy of the patient, the nature of the illness, the administration of healthcare, the means of transport used, the person providing information about the itinerary, the planning of the itinerary and its completeness. Knowing the child's itineraries toward healthcare allows the development of innovative discourses and practices for future public policies, through which the principles of comprehensiveness and resoluteness in children's health would be strengthened. The purpose of this study is to understand institutional violence (IV) in the relationships between health professionals, hospitalized children, and family members. This is a qualitative study developed at the pediatric inpatient unit of a university hospital in the city of Salvador, Bahia, Brazil. The research participants consisted of 39 health professionals who specialized in pediatrics and 10 family members of hospitalized children. Semi‐structured interviews were the method used for data collection. Using discourse analysis as a basis and taking a Foucauldian perspective, the researchers observed that the expressions of IV could be traced to abusive power relations within the system. We found four discursive forms within the data set: communication problems as IV, violence through inattention and neglect, violence as an action and consequent materialization on the body, and psychological violence as a submission mechanism. Based on these findings, we argue that professionals, managers, the scientific community, and users might be able to better guarantee the safety of children by recognizing IV and effectively intervening in it. Introduction Pain in pediatric oncology patients is often undertreated due to a lack of timely assessment and inefficient communication between health care workers. Improper pain assessment is a leading cause of poorly managed pain in children. In high-income countries, pediatric oncology nurses play a key role in developmentally appropriate pain assessment measures to identify potential management strategies. However, nurses in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) face a deficit of knowledge about pain assessment tools and management. Owing to differences in availability of resources, a disparity exists between health-related quality of life of cancer patients treated at public- and private-sector hospitals in Pakistan. Methodology The Indus Hospital and Health Network partnered with nine publicsector hospitals nationwide to improve pediatric oncology practices. Supported by the My Child Matters grant, training sessions were conducted for nurses at each publicsector pediatric oncology unit (POU) from March to December 2021. Pain assessment tools were provided. To assess retention and implementation of practices, a knowledge, attitudes, and practices questionnaire was distributed online to nurses at each POU. All responses remained anonymous. Results Fifty-four responses were recorded, 85% were female and most were between 26 and 30 years of age. Most of the participants held a diploma in nursing and were designated charge nurses with more than 6 years of experience. Forty nurses reported routinely assessing pain; the most common reason for not doing so was increased workload. Correlations were observed between routinely performing pain assessment and the number of patients per nurse, availability of formal credentialing or certifications at the institution and routinely performing pain assessment, availability of trainings focused on pain assessment and routinely performing pain assessment, and qualification of nurses and knowledge of nonpharmacological pain assessment methods. Conclusion Strategies to improve pain assessment knowledge and practices among pediatric oncology nurses in LMICs must be developed to improve patient care and clinical outcomes. Background: Compassion is a crucial aspect in the management of pediatric oncology patients as it has the potential to enhance nurse satisfaction levels, thereby further enhancing the quality and safety of the care they deliver. This study aimed to investigate nurses' understanding and experience of compassionate care when working in pediatric oncology departments. Methods: This research utilized a qualitative descriptive design. Content analysis was used to make sense of data collected via individual and semi-structured interviews conducted with nurses (n = 32) working in pediatric oncology departments. Results: Nurses' understanding of compassionate care for children with cancer was organized into two categories: Humanistic compassionate care and compassionate end-of-life care. The humanistic compassionate care category comprised of three subcategories: (1) empathy, (2) altruism, and (3) respect for the cultural values and beliefs of the family. The compassionate end-of-life care category comprised of two subcategories: (1) facilitating parents' presence at the child's bedside and (2) creating suitable conditions for accepting the death of a child. Conclusion: Compassionate care for children with cancer is marked by a strong emphasis on humanistic, cultural, and end-of-life considerations. Introduction Management of patients with total colonic aganglionosis (TCA) is challenging for pediatric surgeons. The purpose of this study was to review our institution's 20-year experience regarding long-term outcomes and multidisciplinary team management of these patients after an ileorectal Duhamel pull-through procedure. Materials and Methods Retrospective review was conducted for all patients diagnosed with TCA in our tertiary institution. Data were collected on demographics, clinical presentation, complications, need for additional surgery, and long-term effects on bowel function. Results Of a total of 202 patients with Hirschsprung's disease, 13 were diagnosed with TCA (6.4%). Clinical presentation was variable. Eleven presented in neonatal period with distal bowel obstruction and two presented with constipation in early infancy. Ileorectal Duhamel pull-through was performed in all patients. Median follow-up was 13 years. Eleven are toilet trained, of whom five are fully continent. Six continue to have problems with bowel continence or constipation. One developed recurrent episode of Hirschsprung's associated enterocolitis. Two patients had stoma re-established. Patients experiencing difficulties in bowel function are jointly managed by a multidisciplinary team consisting of surgeons, gastroenterologists, pediatric psychologists, and clinical nurse specialists. Conclusion TCA can be associated with significant long-term morbidity. Nearly half of the patients in this series have ongoing problems with bowel continence requiring a permanent stoma in some. Diligent follow-up coupled with inputs of a multidisciplinary team has greatly helped manage these complex patients in our institution. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Nurses are vital partners in the development of pediatric neurocritical care (PNCC) programs. Nursing expertise is acknowledged to be an integral component of high-quality specialty patient care in the field, but little guidance exists regarding educational requirements to build that expertise. We sought to obtain expert consensus from nursing professionals and physicians on curricular priorities for specialized PNCC nursing education in pediatric centers across the United States. Methods: We used a modified Delphi study technique surveying a multidisciplinary expert panel of nursing professionals and physicians. Online surveys were distributed to 44 panelists over three rounds to achieve consensus on curricular topics deemed essential for PNCC nursing education. During each round, panelists were asked to rate topics as essential or not essential, as well as given opportunities to provide feedback and suggest changes. Feedback was shared anonymously to the panelist group throughout the process. Results: From 70 initial individual topics, the consensus process yielded 19 refined topics that were confirmed to be essential for a PNCC nursing curriculum by the expert panel. Discrepancies existed regarding how universally to recommend topics of advanced neuromonitoring, such as brain tissue oxygenation; specialized neurological assessments, such as the serial neurological assessment in pediatrics or National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale; and some disease-based populations. Panelists remarked that not all centers see specific diseases, and not all centers currently employ advanced neuromonitoring technologies and skills. Conclusions: We report 19 widely accepted curricular priorities that can serve as a standard educational base for PNCC nursing. Developing education for nurses in PNCC will complement PNCC programs with targeted nursing expertise that extends comprehensive specialty care to the bedside. Further work is necessary to effectively execute educational certification programs, implement nursing standards in the field, and evaluate the impact of nursing expertise on patient care and outcomes. The Société Internationale d'Oncologie Pédiatrique [International Society of Paediatric Oncology] (SIOP), founded in 1969, aims to improve the lives of children and adolescents with cancer through global collaboration, education, training, research and advocacy. The annual congress provides the opportunity to share late-breaking research, clinical experiences and debate, with experts worldwide. SIOP's six Continental Branches represent their constituent members in North America, Oceania, Latin America, Africa, Europe and Asia and bring best practices and recent research findings of value to their specific patient populations. In 1990, the SIOP Board of Directors addressed the formerly predominantly European/North American society transforming into a global association by establishing a scholarship program to bring low- and middle-income country (LMIC) paediatric oncologists and nurses to SIOP meetings. A major achievement was SIOP's acceptance as a World Health Organisation (WHO) non-state actor in official relations in 2018, joining 220 non-governmental organisations, international business associations and philanthropic foundations with this privilege. SIOP supports advocacy with WHO member states and civil society to highlight the specific needs of cancer in this age-group through key programs especially supporting the WHO Global Initiative for Childhood Cancer. Sustained improvement in childhood cancer outcomes has paralleled the integration of research with care; thus, SIOP launched a Programme for Advancing Research Capacity for funding selected clinical trial groups in LMICs. SIOP supports south-south partnerships, and the principles elegantly expressed in SIOP Africa's checklist for co-branding projects, that include the prioritisation of local needs, cultivation of local expertise and commitment to equitable partnerships. SIOP now counts approximately 3,000 members from over 128 countries; 39% are from more than 60 LMICs. SIOP members have multidisciplinary expertise on all aspects of childhood cancer care working in collaboration with key stakeholders including governments, civil society organisations and funders to improve the lives of children/adolescents with cancer everywhere in all ways. The study was conducted to determine the effect of the therapeutic play method implemented on the pre- and postcircumcision pain and anxiety levels of children and mothers' anxiety levels in the pediatric surgery clinic. Prospective, randomized clinical trial. The study consisted of children between the ages of 3 to 6 admitted to the pediatric surgery clinic and their mothers (N = 120; Therapeutic playgroup = 60, Control group = 60). As a therapeutic play method the children and their mothers used play dough during the structured conversation for about 10 minutes before and after the operation. A questionnaire, the Face, Legs, Activity, Cry, Consolability (FLACC) pain scale, the Children's Emotional Manifestation Scale (CEMS) anxiety scale, and State-Trait Anxiety Inventory-S (STAI-S) anxiety scale for parents were used to collect data. In the pre- and postcircumcision period, the pain and anxiety levels of children and mothers' anxiety levels in the therapeutic playgroup were statistically lower compared to the control group (P <.05). In the postoperative period, a positive and significance correlation was found between anxiety levels of the mothers and pain and anxiety levels of children in the control group (P <.05). Background: Secure messaging (SM) is a communication feature within a patient portal that allows patients and clinical staff to exchange health-related information securely and confidentially. Purpose: This study aimed to explore how pediatric clinical staff use SM, identify challenges in its implementation, and suggest quality improvements. Methods: A descriptive quantitative study was administered using an online survey in a large health care system. The Task, User, Representation, and Function framework guided the research. Results: The survey participants were moderately satisfied with the SM. Opportunities to design this system to be more efficient and maximize patient safety were identified. Conclusion: Improving training and workflow can aid in incorporating SM into clinician's daily routines, focusing on enhancing user satisfaction. Background: Globally, there is increasingly high prevalence of mental disorders across all age groups and social classes with more being projected by 2030, but without commensurate resources for mental health care delivery especially in developing countries. Purpose: This study examined the impacts of clinical psychiatric posting on career choice in psychiatry among nursing students in Ebonyi state, Nigeria. Methods: A prospective cohort research design was used and data were collected using attitude towards psychiatry (ATP), mental illness clinician attitude scale (MICA-4) and researcher developed questionnaires on career choice in pre and post clinical posting approach. This study was conducted between November, 2023 to May 2024. A sample size of 400 students (with data collected before posting and after posting) were involved in the study. Data were coded, cleaned and analyzed using SPSS version 26. McNemar Test was used to determine effects of clinical posting on career choices in psychiatry. Simple and multiple logistic regressions were used to analyze data on determinants of career choices in psychiatry. The hypotheses (Null and alternative hypotheses) were tested at p-value < 0.05. Results: Psychiatric and mental health nursing was one of the least preferred specialty, 21(6%) respondents showed interest before clinical posting and 25(7.1%) after the posting. Commonly preferred specialty was pediatric nursing (20.5%), community health nursing (17.1%) and midwifery (17.7%). McNemer test showed no statistically significant differences in choice of psychiatry before and after clinical posting. Key determinants of career choices were interest in psychiatry (AOR = 16.06(95% CI = 1.10, 14.96) P = 0.009), interest in community services (AOR = 4.01(95% CI = 1.32, 12.20)P = 0.014), family influence(AOR = 13.76(95% CI = 1.74, 108.57)p = 0.013) and job satisfaction(AOR = 0.10(95% CI = 0.03, 0.26)P < 0.001). Conclusion: The researcher therefore concluded that clinical psychiatric posting has no significant impacts on career choices in psychiatry among nursing students in Nigeria. Virtual vignettes, including scenarios with virtual children and their clinical information, were used to assess participants' pain perception and management. The virtual children, created from real face photos, varied in age (young/old), sex (boy/girl) and facial expressions (smile/grimace). Participants rated perceived pain scores and selected management choices for eight virtual vignettes, which were randomly presented. The Korean version of the Paediatric Nurses' Knowledge and Attitude Survey was completed along with demographic information.Both paediatric nurses and nursing students rated pain scores lower than the actual pain scores reported by virtual children. Nurses rated higher pain scores and accordingly selected more medication doses compared to students. Beyond pain‐related knowledge, the facial expression of the virtual child influenced pain rating and medication choices, while age and sex had no effect.Nursing students were more sensitive to the facial expressions of virtual children when rating their pain compared to nurses. Introduction: Blended learning is a teaching approach that integrates online self-learning and classroom teaching. It emphasizes students' self-directed learning, actively engaging, as well as communication and collaboration. Blended learning develops the qualities in nursing undergraduate students with problem-solving ability, clinical thinking, and communication skills as nurses have. Currently, learners' experience has become an important factor in determining the success of blended learning. Aim: To learn about the experiences and perceptions of undergraduate nursing students regarding blending learning in pediatric nursing. Methods: A mixed methods design beginning with a quantitative data collection and analysis phase to inform the subsequent qualitative phase was utilized. This study was conducted among undergraduate nursing students at one university in China. In the quantitative study phase, a convenience sample of 59 students completed the online survey while the qualitative study phase included nine students recruited by purposive sampling. The qualitative data were collected using individual semistructured in-depth interviews. Audio data were transcribed and subjected to thematic analysis. The findings from those two phases were integrated into the final analysis. Results: The majority (89.8%) of students reported satisfaction with blended learning. Among various teaching methods, case-based learning (CBL) was the most preferred (98.3%). Regarding the qualitative data, students reported positive experiences with blended learning including well-organized course structure, resourceful course content, and high teacher quality. They stated that blended learning improved the learning outcomes such as improving problem-solving ability and developing clinical thinking. They also provided suggestions for achieving better learning outcomes, including providing stressful learning activities, optimizing online course design, and improving the quality of group learning. Conclusions: The blended learning model of pediatric nursing based on the Community of Inquiry framework provides a positive learning experience for nursing undergraduate students. Equitable access to appropriate care, emergency department services, and in-home support aids are needed to minimize the occurrences of adverse events that have a significant impact on families. However, many families of children with medical complexity (CMC) lack consistent care due to issues of health inequity. We conducted 11 qualitative interviews with primary caregivers who were asked about their experiences of providing care to children who have a tracheostomy and are supported by multiple life-saving machines at home. Guided by ecological systems theory, we identified three themes that contextualize the lived experiences of the participants who expressed needs that arose from poor interactions within the mesosystem. Findings convey participant frustrations that result from insufficient support, ineffective training, and inadequate healthcare coverage. Although each theme is organized systematically to emphasize specific concerns within the mesosystem, together these themes emphasize the inextricable relationship between daily needs with systemic barriers to care. We provide a discussion of these needs with a broader context that also impacts the perceived quality of care among families managing the needs of their children who are supported by life-saving technology. By addressing existing challenges and identifying opportunities for improvement within the healthcare system, we seek to contribute to the collective effort of advocating for ethical systemic change on behalf of CMC and their families. Objective: The aim of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of radiation safety training developed for nurses working in intensive care units (ICUs). Materials and Methods: This study was carried out on a total of 144 nurses working in the neonatal and pediatric ICUs of two different hospitals. The radiation safety training developed for the nurses of the ICU for the nurses in the training group (n=62) was given face-to-face in 7 sessions in groups of 8-10 people. The data were collected through the descriptive information form and the radiation safety information form, as well as the observations made by the researcher. Results: As a result of the observations, the development of protective behaviors against ionized radiation of the nurses in the training group increased significantly both compared to the control group and pre-training case (p<0.05). It was determined that score averages of radiation safety knowledge levels of intensive care nurses in training group increased significantly. In the last observations, it was determined that there was a significant decrease in the use of some personal protective equipment by the nurses in the training group (p<0.05). Over time, a limited decrease was observed in the radiation safety knowledge levels of the nurses in the training group. Conclusion: It has been concluded that the radiation safety training applied within the scope of the research is an effective method in ensuring the radiation safety of the nurses working in the ICUs. Background: An increased demand for pediatric-focused advanced practice providers (APPs) exists to address the health care needs of children with medical complexity. Postlicensure advanced practice fellowship programs have been developed to help improve novice provider transition to practice, reducing attrition. Objectives: The objectives of this integrative review are to (1) identify outcome measurements of pediatric-focused advanced practice fellowship programs and (2) evaluate the outcome measures to guide future implications for practice. Data sources: A systematic integrative literature review was conducted in accordance with the Preferred Reporting Items for Systemic Reviews and Meta-Analyses. PubMed, CINAHL, Embase, and Google Scholar were searched in August and September 2022. Articles met inclusion criteria if they included new graduate APPs, reported the intervention of a pediatric fellowship program, and shared outcome measurements. Studies were excluded if they did not directly report on fellowship program outcome measures. Thirteen studies met inclusion criteria and were summarized and appraised for quality using the Johns Hopkins Evidence-Based Practice Model. Conclusions: Four themes from the literature included the favorable impact of advanced practice fellowship programs on (a) job satisfaction, (b) retention, (c) clinical and professional performance, and (d) financial outcomes. Variable strategies were used to measure outcomes across programs. Implications for practice: Postlicensure pediatric-focused advanced practice fellowship programs seem to improve retention and job satisfaction, increase provider confidence, and bring a favorable return on investment for the organization. Background: Delirium commonly occurs in paediatric patients with acute critical illness and negatively affects clinical outcomes. Variations in delirium knowledge levels and its management have been noted among nurses. Aims: This study investigated nurses' experiences and knowledge levels regarding paediatric delirium. Additionally, we aimed to assess the gap between knowledge levels and practical experiences with paediatric delirium. Study Design: This cross‐sectional descriptive study conveniently sampled paediatric nurses from a university hospital in South Korea between September 2022 and March 2023. Nursing experiences with paediatric delirium and delirium knowledge levels were measured using structured survey questionnaires. Delirium knowledge was scored 0 to 47, and higher scores indicated higher levels of delirium‐related knowledge. Data were analysed using descriptive statistics and presented as mean, standard deviation, frequency and percentage. Results: A total of 127 paediatric nurses participated in this study; 40.2% had experience with 1–5 delirium cases in the previous year, and 86.6% (n = 110) had never used assessment tools for paediatric delirium assessment. The mean total delirium knowledge score was 34.45 ± 5.4; the mean scores of knowledge regarding aetiology, signs and symptoms and nursing management of delirium were 8.93 ± 1.31, 13.24 ± 2.81 and 12.3 ± 2.7, respectively. Interventions associated with a lower level of delirium‐related knowledge and a lower performance rate included avoiding restraint use and maintaining hydration and electrolyte levels. Interventions associated with a higher level of delirium‐related knowledge but a lower rate of performance comprised providing orientation, offering emotional support, allowing participants to stay with family members and administering medications to manage delirium. Conclusions: Although nurses working in paediatric units exhibited high rate of delirium nursing care, there was the gap between their delirium‐related knowledge and practice. Nurses need to be aware of the insufficient part of delirium care, and paediatric delirium education should be reinforced. Relevance to Clinical Practice: Preventing, assessing and systematically managing paediatric delirium is crucial, and considering the study results, delirium education among nurses is needed. Introduction and history: In Mongolia, pediatric anesthesia has advanced during the past 25 years through expanded, standardized education programs and international collaboration. Pediatric anesthesia is a recognized specialty, covering all surgical services, including cardiac and transplant, using physicians and nurses. Training: The pediatric anesthesia fellowship is 6 months after 2 years of residency; pediatric nurse anesthesia training is 6 months. Conclusion: As a Low‐ and Middle‐Income Country (LMIC) with low population density and extreme weather, the challenges include insufficient equipment, supplies, and clinician numbers, matching few clinicians to many varied patient locations, and covering surgical emergencies over distance and weather. In Thailand, education and training in pediatric anesthesia remain a focus: Pediatric anesthesia is an official subspecialty, the fellowship is accredited, using a competency‐based curriculum with milestones of Direct Observation of Procedural Skills and Entrusted Professional Activities. The education-to-practice gap is magnified in pediatric nursing due to decreasing pediatric content offered in undergraduate programs, including less pediatric clinical time and inconsistent and inadequate clinical experiences. Examine student perceptions of learning and confidence by comparing a high-fidelity pediatric simulation series and acute care pediatric clinical. The SET-M tool compared settings and included open-ended questions to add insight. Sample: In an undergraduate nursing program in a university in the Midwest United States, 124 students completed the anonymous survey rating each experience for learning and confidence in assessment, clinical decision-making, communication, and safety. Results: Students rated the simulation series higher than clinical for all categories except patient communication. This study investigates the relationship between burnout levels of moral distress and missed nursing care in pediatric nurses. A cross-sectional study was conducted between November and December 2023. Pediatric nurses working in two hospitals and providing direct care to children (n = 140) completed the Moral Distress Scale-Revised Pediatric Nurses, MISSCARE Survey - Pediatric Version and Burnout Measure-Short Version questionnaire. Multivariate regression analysis modeling was applied to test the mediating effect on the relationship between burnout, moral distress, and missed nursing care. There was a significant positive correlation between the Moral Distress Scale-Revised Pediatric Nurses and its sub-dimensions and the Burnout Measure-Short Version (p < 0.05). There was a significant positive correlation between the mean MISSCARE- Survey-Ped score of the nurses participating in the study and its sub-dimensions and Burnout Measure-Short Version (p < 0.05). Providing Benefit-Do No Harm, one of the Moral Distress Scale-Revised Pediatric Nurses sub-dimensions, and Labour Resources, one of the MISSCARE sub-dimensions, were found to be predictors of burnout. The ethical principle of Providing Benefit-Do No Harm was found to mediate between moral distress and burnout and reduce burnout associated with missed care. Accordingly, as the nurses' moral distress and inability to meet the necessary patient care increase, their burnout levels also increase. Providing Benefit-Do No Harm is an basic ethical principle that will positively affect the burnout level of pediatric nurses. This study was carried out to adapt a measurement tool that can be used to measure the perceived satisfaction level of parents of pediatric patients hospitalized in a pediatric clinic with care from pediatric nurses and to examine its psychometric properties. The study was conducted methodologically with 301 parents of children who were hospitalized in the pediatric clinic of a university hospital between September and December 2023. Explanatory and confirmatory factor analyses were performed on the data to establish the validity of the scale, Cronbach's alpha reliability coefficient, split-half, item-total score methods were utilized to test its reliability. The scale consisted of 26 items and a single dimension. It was determined that the total explained variance ratio was 79.246%. According to the confirmatory factor analysis results, goodness of fit values were determined as RMSEA = 0.077, CFI = 0.96, IFI = 0.97, RFI = 0.92, NFI = 0.93, and TLI = 0.96. Cronbach's alpha coefficient was calculated as α = 0.989 for the total scale. The Parents' Perception of Satisfaction with Care from Pediatric Nurse Practitioners Instrument is a valid and reliable measurement tool that can be used to measure the perceived satisfaction level of parents of pediatric patients hospitalized in a pediatric clinic with nursing care. The PiccPed® health application was developed to support clinical decision-making in peripherally inserted central catheter (PICC) management. We aimed to evaluate its impact on nurses' knowledge regarding the prevention of PICC-associated adverse events in pediatrics and neonatology. A quasi-experimental, pre-post intervention study, was conducted with a dependent/paired sample of pediatric and neonatal nurses from two tertiary hospitals in South Brazil. Data were collected from October 2022 to January 2023 across three phases: pre-, intervention (use of the PiccPed®) and post-test. Study outcomes were a knowledge test (15 questions) of evidence-based PICC maintenance procedures, and PiccPed® app time spent and screens used. A total of 56 nurses completed the study. The post-test mean score was significantly higher (12/15; standard deviation (SD) 1.9) in comparison with the pre-test (mean 9/15; SD 2.2). The change in scores was significantly higher for nurses without postgraduate qualifications, in comparison to those with (Mean Difference 1.26; p = 0.039). Each minute using the app resulted in a significant increase of 0.04 points (95% confidence interval 0.01–0.08; p = 0.014) on the mean post-test score (10.94 points). Conclusion: The research demonstrated that PiccPed® enhances nurses' learning regarding the prevention of adverse events associated with PICC maintenance in pediatrics and neonatology. This study aimed to explore the real experiences and needs of neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) preterm intergenerational caregivers for discharge preparation and provide a basis for nursing staff to formulate systemic and personalized health education plans and continuous nursing plans for preterm discharge. This was a descriptive qualitative study. An objective sampling method was used to select 16 intergenerational caregivers of preterm infants admitted to the NICU of tertiary obstetrics and gynecology hospitals in Zhejiang and Jilin provinces from December 2023 to February 2024. Semi-structured interviews were conducted on the day of discharge of the preterm infants and six weeks after discharge. Colaizzi's seven-step analysis method was used to analyze the interview data. Based on the existence, relatedness, and growth (ERG) theory, the discharge preparation experiences and needs of neonatal intergenerational caregivers in the NICU were summarized into three themes: psychological condition, care capacity condition, and multi-party support needs. In the process of hospital discharge preparation, intergenerational caregivers of premature infants in NICU have multiple needs, including enhancing nursing ability and obtaining psychological and multi-party support. It is helpful to take effective interventions to improve their readiness for discharge. The nursing staff should develop personalized discharge health education plans and continuous nursing plans to improve the level of discharge preparation. Trust is central to the development of nurse-patient relationships. Pediatric nurses encounter difficulties developing trust with children and their caregivers. The purpose of this scoping review was to identify, examine, and summarize available evidence on the concept of trust among nurses and children/caregivers when admitted to hospital inpatient care units. Using the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) methodology for conducing and reporting scoping reviews, CINAHL, MEDLINE, PsycINFO, Cochrane DSR, Cochrane Central, and JBI EBP were searched for qualitative, quantitative, mixed methods, and review studies with no time limits published in English. Included studies presented findings on the experiences of developing trust between pediatric nurses and children under 18 years of age and their caregivers within inpatient care units. A total of 12,269 titles and abstracts were reviewed independently by two reviewers. 366 full-text articles were retrieved, a final of 81 studies were included in the review. Trust was bi-directional between nurses and children/caregivers, developed over time during multiple interactions, and foundational to the development of relationships. Distinct facilitators and barriers to the development of trust between nurses and children/caregivers were identified. The development of trust was rewarding and enriching for both nurses and children/caregivers and was the fundamental to the provision of safe and high-quality nursing care. Findings provide nurses with direction and strategies on how to develop and maintain trust with children/caregivers on inpatient care units. Background: Because of the importance of genetics and genomics for health care, efforts to promote inclusion of genetics and genomics in undergraduate nursing programs has increased in the past 20 years. However, the success of these efforts has not been measured recently. Method: Information from Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education accredited 4-year baccalaureate nursing programs in the United States was searched, and program administrators were surveyed regarding inclusion of genetics and genomics in program requirements. Results: More than half (57%) of 711 programs analyzed included genetics and genomics in their curriculum, with <6% of programs requiring a standalone course. Although 43% of programs did not mention genetics and genomics in their curriculum, some programs that did not specifically identify genetics and genomics in course descriptions may incorporate these topics. Conclusion: Despite the growing importance of genetics and genomics in health care, many prelicensure baccalaureate nursing programs include little instruction on these topics. Purpose This study aimed to systematically review studies on the effect of peer tutoring on pediatric nursing education for nursing students and identify its contents and characteristics. Methods A comprehensive search was conducted from November to December 2023 across databases including PubMed, Embase, CENTRAL, CINAHL, ProQuest, and others. We included both published and unpublished literature in English or Korean. Three reviewers independently screened and selected eligible studies that involved undergraduate nursing students participating in peer tutoring programs focused on pediatric nursing education. We analyzed quantitative outcomes related to learning effects and learner responses. The quality of the studies was assessed using the revised Cochrane risk-of-bias tool for randomized trials and the risk of bias assessment tool for non-randomized studies. Results Five studies were reviewed, encompassing randomized controlled trials, a non-randomized controlled trial, a cohort study, and a before-after study. These interventions were conducted in school settings or pediatric clinical environments and featured different forms of peer teaching: horizontal, near-peer, and reciprocal. The tutor-to-tutee ratios ranged from 1:3 to 1:36.5. The educational content covered nursing care for major neonatal diseases, communication skills, medication administration, and resuscitation techniques. Significant improvements in cognitive knowledge and communication skills were observed among nursing students. However, there was noticeable variability in the design and reporting of the studies. Conclusion Peer tutoring programs can effectively enhance pediatric nursing education by improving nursing students’ knowledge and skills. For future meta-analyses, more studies in this field reported according to reporting guidelines are needed.

Purpose Hybrid simulation has emerged to increase the practicality of simulation training by combining simulators and standardized patient (SP) that implement realistic clinical environments at a high level. This study aimed to develop a hybrid simulation program focused on case of pediatric cardiac catheterization and to evaluate its effectiveness. Methods The hybrid simulation program was developed according to the Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, and Evaluate (ADDIE) model. And deep learning-based analysis program was used to analyze non-verbal communication with SP and applied it for debriefing sessions. To verify the effect of the program, a quasi-experimental study using a random assignment design was conducted. Purpose This study aimed to identify the effects of pediatric nurses’ perception of patient safety culture and their partnership with patients’ parents on pediatric patient safety nursing activities. Methods This descriptive study was conducted over a two-month period, from October to November 2022, utilizing self-reported questionnaires. The study included 165 nurses, each having at least 6 months of working experience in wards where children were admitted. These nurses were selected from 13 pediatric specialty hospitals, general hospitals, and university hospitals across seven regions. The data analysis was performed using the SPSS/WIN 26.0 program (IBM Corp.) for descriptive statistics, t-test, One-way ANOVA, Scheffé test, Pearson correlation coefficients, and multiple regression analysis. Abstract Background The adoption of electronic health records (EHRs) has revolutionized healthcare delivery, offering potential benefits for enhancing the quality and safety of pediatric nursing care. However, the effective implementation and utilization of EHRs in pediatric settings present unique challenges. Objectives This systematic review aims to critically analyze the available literature on the role of EHRs in improving various aspects of pediatric nursing care, including clinical documentation, medication management, care coordination, and patient engagement. Methods A comprehensive search of multiple electronic databases (PubMed, CINAHL, Embase, and Cochrane Library) was conducted to identify relevant studies published between January 2000 and March 2023. Eligible studies included randomized controlled trials (RCTs), observational studies, and qualitative research investigating the impact of EHRs on pediatric nursing care outcomes. Study selection, data extraction, and quality assessment were performed by two independent reviewers. Results Out of 1,257 records, 28 studies (12 RCTs, 10 observational, 6 qualitative) were included, involving 3,642 pediatric patients and 1,278 healthcare professionals. EHRs were associated with a 20% improvement in clinical documentation completeness. However, initial implementation was associated with increased documentation time. EHRs with computerized provider order entry (CPOE) reduced medication errors by 30%, but initial training challenges were noted. Redundant testing was reduced by 15%, and care continuity improved by 25% with EHR implementation. Key themes from qualitative research included increased patient involvement in care decisions and improved satisfaction with care processes. Conclusion EHRs have the potential to enhance various aspects of pediatric nursing care, including improved documentation, medication management, care coordination, and patient engagement. Nonetheless, successful implementation requires addressing system usability, interoperability, and user acceptance through comprehensive training, workflow redesign, and ongoing technical support. Abstract Background Quality caregiver-infant interaction is crucial for infant growth, health, and development. Traditional methods for evaluating the quality of caregiver-infant interaction have predominantly relied on rating scales or observational techniques. However, rating scales are prone to inaccuracies, while observational techniques are resource-intensive. The utilization of easily collected medical records in conjunction with machine learning techniques offers a promising and viable strategy for accurate and efficient assessment of caregiver-infant interaction quality. Methods This study was conducted at a follow-up outpatient clinic at two tertiary maternal and infant health centers located in Shanghai, China. 68 caregivers and their 3-15-month-old infants were videotaped for 3–5 min during playing interactions in non-threatening environment. Two trained experts utilized the Infant CARE-Index (ICI) procedure to assess whether the caregivers were sensitive or not in a dyadic context. This served as the gold standard. Predictors were collected through Health Information Systems (HIS) and questionnaires, which included accessible features such as demographic information, parental coping ability, infant neuropsychological development, maternal depression, parent-infant interaction, and infant temperament. Four classification models with fivefold cross-validation and grid search hyperparameter tuning techniques were employed to yield prediction metrics. Interpretable analyses were conducted to explain the results. Results The score of sensitive caregiver-infant interaction was 6.34 ± 2.62. The Random Forest model gave the best accuracy (83.85%±6.93%). Convergent findings identified infant age, care skills of infants, mother age, infant temperament-regulatory capacity, birth weight, positive coping, health-care-knowledge-of-infants, type of caregiver, MABIS-bonding issues, ASQ-Fine Motor as the strongest predictors of interaction sensitivity between infants and their caregiver. Conclusions The proposed method presents a promising and efficient approach that synergistically combines rating scales and artificial technology to detect important features of caregiver-infant interactions. This novel approach holds several implications for the development of automatic computational assessment tools in the field of nursing studies.

Background: Interdisciplinary collaboration is known to foster professional innovation and enhance student learning across different domains. However, the research on the effectiveness of integration of interdisciplinary learning in pediatric nursing education is limited. Therefore, this study aimed to examine the effectiveness of integrating game-based learning, an interdisciplinary approach to teaching, into pediatric nursing education's play courses. Methods: We used a mixed methods study with pre-test/post-test quantitative analyses and a descriptive qualitative analysis of students' reflection journals. Data were collected between August 2019 and July 2020 to gauge course effectiveness. Quantitative data obtained from the questionnaires were analyzed using a t-test, correlation, and regression analysis. Qualitative data using students' reflective journals were collected and analyzed using content analysis. One hundred and three second-year nursing students enrolled in a four-year nursing program. Nursing students attended classes in university classrooms and served learning in a kindergarten or hospital in Northern Taiwan. Results: The subscales of Students' Learning Outcome in knowledge, abilities, and attitudes showed significantly higher mean post-test scores compared to pre-test scores: 26.15 (SD = 3.35) vs. 16.82 (SD = 4.49), p <.001; 18.03 (SD = 2.13) vs. 11.43 (SD = 2.95), p <.001; and 12.90 (SD = 2.12) vs. 8.72 (SD = 2.52), p <.001. Furthermore, scores on the Service-Learning Abilities Scale indicated a significant increase in communication, problem-solving, knowledge application, and cross-cultural competence. Integrating instruction to improve problem-solving skills and knowledge application predicts student learning outcomes. Qualitative findings revealed nursing students' reflections on integrating different learning areas, communication, problem-solving, and practical knowledge skills. Conclusions: Integration of interdisciplinary learning effectively stimulates learning among nursing students and enhances their knowledge, abilities, and attitudes toward therapeutic play, benefiting children's health. Our findings demonstrate that integration of interdisciplinary learning significantly enhances nursing students' healthcare-giving competence, particularly in communication, problem-solving, knowledge application, and cross-cultural competence as measured by the Service-Learning Scale. Integrating social service with integration of interdisciplinary learning exposes nursing students to diverse challenges and needs, thereby enhancing their communication skills, knowledge application, and problem-solving abilities. Under the main theme of nurse, there are subthemes of chaos, helplessness‐incompetence, while under the main theme of child, there are subthemes of unresponsiveness, intertwined needs, empathy, and care. The study also highlights the chaotic environment in the immediate aftermath of the earthquake, characterized by a high number of pediatric casualties and psychological trauma, and the nurses' feelings of helplessness as a result of being separated from their families.This study found that nurses caring for children in the earthquake had difficulties in managing children's hospital processes and they demonstrated an empathic approach by trying to communicate with the children in their care. The nurses stated that children should be supported psychologically as well as having their basic needs such as water, food, and shelter met.Health policymakers should be aware that in the early stages of major disasters such as earthquakes, children are not only physically injured but also have basic needs such as water, shelter, and food, and are emotionally affected. It is recommended that disaster management plans be developed to address all children's needs and nurses be provided with psychological support and training to improve their knowledge and skills. AIMS: To assess institutional compliance with, and test characteristics of, a child abuse screen performed by emergency department (ED) nurses for children <5 years old who were diagnosed with fractures. METHODS: A secondary analysis of a retrospective observational study of children 0-5 years old with fractures seen at a pediatric ED between January 2018 and April 2023 was performed. We analyzed demographics, ED visit data, and results of the nurse-completed abuse screen. Screen results were compared to ED clinician concern for abuse to calculate test characteristics. RESULTS: The mean age of the 2,705 children identified was 38.4 months (SD 19.8). Out of the total patient cohort, 2,449 (90.5%) had a nurse-completed screen. Among these, 65 patients (2.4%) screened positive for possible abuse. We found no statistically significant difference in screen completion by age group, race, ethnicity, language, or insurance type. Of 312 (11.5%) encounters with clinician concern for abuse, 17.6% screened positive, 76.0% screened negative, and 6.4% had an incomplete screen. The sensitivity and specificity among screened children aged 0-5 were 19.2% [95% CI 14.7-23.8%] and 99.5% [95% CI 99.3-99.8%]. The PPV and NPV were 84.6% [95% CI 75.8-93.4%] and 90.3% [95% CI 89.191.5%]. Comparatively, among children <12 months, the sensitivity was 24.4% [95% CI 18.0-30.8%], specificity was 98.1% [95% CI 95.4-100%], PPV was 95.5% [95% CI 89.3-100%], and NPV was 43.7% [95% CI 37.3-50.1%]. CONCLUSIONS: Although there was high compliance with this nurse-completed abuse screen, it is an inadequate sole modality for screening young children with fractures, with a low probability of a positive screen given clinician concern for potential abuse for the entire cohort and among high-risk infants. Aim: To evaluate improvement in knowledge and clinical behaviour among healthcare professionals after attendance at paediatric epilepsy training (PET) courses. Method: Since 2005, 1‐day PET courses have taught evidence‐based paediatric epilepsy management to doctors and nurses in low‐, middle‐, and high‐income countries. A cohort study was performed of 7528 participants attending 252 1‐day PET courses between 2005 and 2020 in 17 low‐, middle‐, and high‐income countries, and which gathered data from participants immediately after the course and then 6 months later. Training outcomes were measured prospectively in three domains (reaction, learning, and behaviour) using a mixed‐methods approach involving a feedback questionnaire, a knowledge quiz before and after the course, and a 6‐month survey. Results: Ninety‐eight per cent (7217 of 7395) of participants rated the course as excellent or good. Participants demonstrated knowledge gain, answering a significantly higher proportion of questions correctly after the course compared to before the course (88% [47 883 of 54 196], correct answers/all quiz answers, vs 75% [40 424 of 54 196]; p < 0.001). Most survey responders reported that the course had improved their epilepsy diagnosis and management (73% [311 of 425]), clinical service (68% [290 of 427]), and local epilepsy training (68% [290 of 427]). Interpretation: This was the largest evaluation of a global epilepsy training course. Participants reported high course satisfaction, showed knowledge gain, and described improvements in clinical behaviour 6 months later. Accessible Summary: What is known on the subject?: Children and adolescents' mental health problems, such as autism spectrum disorder, anxiety disorder and attention‐deficit hyperactivity disorder, are a global public health concern, and nurses require advanced expertise and skills to properly care for this population.There is a gap between the required competencies and the actual skills and knowledge of CAMHN practitioners. Previous studies suggest that educational interventions for nurses are necessary to enhance the quality of care for children and adolescents with mental health problems. However, the corresponding evaluation indicators have not been verified, making it difficult to determine the most effective methods. What this paper adds to existing knowledge?: The present study developed the two‐factor (direct care for children and their family members and approach to the care environment) Clinical Competency Assessment Scale in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Nursing (CCAS‐CAMHN).We demonstrated that the assessment scale was reliable and valid, based on its adequate internal consistency and temporal stability, the acceptable range of its model‐fit indexes, and its good concurrent and divergent validity. Aim: The aim of this study was to develop a clinical competency assessment scale in CAMHN and evaluate its psychometric properties. Method: Scale items were derived from previous studies and adjusted based on cognitive interviews with five CAMHN experts. In total, 505 nurses in CAMHN from 29 hospitals in Japan participated in the self‐administered survey. The scale's construct validity, criterion‐related validity, internal consistency and test–retest reliability were assessed. Results: A two‐factor (direct care for children and their family members and approach to the care environment) scale was constructed. A secondary structural model showed that a two‐factor model fits best. The total score was significantly and positively correlated with excellence in nursing practice, amount of clinical experience and mental status. The overall scale exhibited good validity and reliability. Discussion: The scale is reliable and valid for assessing CAMHN clinical competency. Aim: To gain insight into child‐health nurses' experiences of using pictorial support in health visits within child‐health services. Methods: A qualitative study involving interviews conducted with 17 child‐health nurses in Sweden. The interview data were analysed using content analysis. Results: The nurses experienced that pictorial support could facilitate communication with families and increase opportunities for children to participate in child‐health services, although it may come with challenges. This theme can be broken down into three main categories: (1) Pictorial support makes interaction with families clearer and easier and is used in different ways; (2) The design and extensiveness of the pictorial support can create obstacles; and (3) Pictorial support influences children's attitudes towards, and participation in, health visits. Conclusion: Pictorial support is an important and useful tool in child‐health nurses' own work and improves their communication with children and caregivers during health visits. It can also increase children's participation and help them express themselves. Background: Developmental Dysplasia of the Hip (DDH) describes a spectrum of abnormalities that impact the normal function of the joint. These abnormalities are detectable during infancy using physical assessment, universal ultrasound, or a combination of both. In Australia, child health nurses predominantly screen for this disease using physical assessment. The aim of this study was to determine if child health nurses can accurately screen for DDH using physical assessment. Methods: This Australian study estimated the accuracy and utility of child health nurses using physical assessment to screen for DDH by comparing it to a handheld ultrasound device. Results: This study (N = 44) concluded that using a point prevalence study design, child health nurses in Australia are unable to accurately assess for DDH in infants using physical assessment; overall, clinicians had 50.5% sensitivity (95% CI, 15.7 to 84.3), a specificity of 75.0% (95% CI, 57.8 to 87.9), and 71.3% accuracy (95% CI, 55.6 to 83.9). Conclusion: This study suggests that child health nurses cannot screen for DDH using physical assessment. Background: The prevalence and severity of pediatric Mycoplasma pneumoniae pneumonia (MPP) poses a significant threat to the health and lives of children. In this study, we aim to systematically evaluate the value of routine blood parameters in predicting MPP and develop a robust and generalizable ensemble artificial intelligence (AI) model to assist in identifying patients with MPP. Methods: We collected 27 features, including routine blood parameters and hs-CRP levels, from patients admitted to The Affiliated Dazu's Hospital of Chongqing Medical University with or without MPP between January, 2023 and January, 2024. A classification model was built using seven machine learning (ML) algorithms to develop an integrated prediction tool for diagnosing MPP. It was evaluated on both an internal validation set (982 individuals) and an external validation set (195 individuals). The primary outcome measured the accuracy of the model in predicting MPP. Results: The GBDT is state-of-the-art based on 27 features. Following inter-laboratory cohort testing, the GBDT demonstrated an AUC, accuracy, specificity, sensitivity, PPV, NPV, and F1-score of 0.980 (0.938–0.995), 0.928 (0.796–0.970), 0.929 (0.717-1.000), 0.926 (0.889–0.956), 0.922 (0.727-1.000), 0.937 (0.884–0.963), and 0.923 (0.800-0.966) in stratified 10-fold cross-validation. A GBDT-based AI Lab was developed to facilitate the healthcare providers in remote and impoverished areas. Conclusions: The GBDT-based AI Lab tool, with high sensitivity and specificity, could help discriminate between pediatric MPP infection and non-MPP infection based on routine blood parameters. The data collection tools included the Nurse Information Form, the General Attitudes Towards Artificial Intelligence Scale (GAAIS), the Artificial Intelligence Literacy Scale (AILS) and the Artificial Intelligence Anxiety Scale (AIAS). To determine the associations between the variables, the data was analysed using IBM SPSS 28, which included linear regression and Pearson correlation analysis.The study indicated significant positive correlations between paediatric nurses' age and their AIAS scores (r = .226; p < .01) and significant negative correlations between paediatric nurses' age and their AILS (r = −.192; p < .05) and GAAIS scores (r = −.152; p < .05). The GAAIS was significantly predictive (p < .000) and accounted for 50% of the variation in AIAS and AILS scores.Paediatric nurses' attitudes towards AI significantly predicted AI literacy and AI anxiety. The relationship between the age of the paediatric nurses and the anxiety, AI literacy and attitudes towards AI was demonstrated. Nursing management considers nursing quality management at its core. Evaluation indexes of nursing quality not only control nursing quality, measure work enthusiasm, and judge the difference in nursing levels but also help nurses accurately understand the satisfaction degree of patients.To analyze pediatric tumor nursing quality evaluation indexes and establish a scientific and rigorous index system of children’s nursing quality.  Based on the “structure-process-result” in this study, the Delphi method was used to carry out questionnaire investigations and opinion collection for domestic experts in pediatrics, pediatric oncology internal medicine, and pediatric oncology surgical care and clinical aspects two times. In addition, the Kendall coordination coefficient and analytic hierarchy process were used to determine the content of indicators at all levels, set the weight, and finally establish the quality index system of pediatric tumor nursing.The response rate of 27 experts in the first round of the questionnaire was 100%, Ca0.77, Cs,0.73, Cr0.75, and the W value of the expert coordination coefficient was 0.315. In the second round of 27 expert consultations, the reply rate was 96%, Ca0.81, Cs0.80, Cr0.805, and the specialist coordination coefficient W value was 0.369. After two rounds of consultation, the importance evaluation scores of each indicator ranged from 3.31 to 4.88 and 3.29 to 5.00, respectively, and more than 94.7% of the indicators’ importance evaluation scores were higher than 3.50. Finally, 3 Level-1 indicators, 12 Level-2 indicators, and 54 Level-3 indicators are established.This study has established a simple, comprehensive, and scientific quality index system for pediatric tumor nursing, highlighted the characteristics of pediatric tumor nursing, and provided an evaluation system for specialized nursing of pediatric tumors to more standardized pediatric tumor nursing and contribute to the sustainable and scientific development of pediatric tumor nursing. Background: The evaluation of existing resources and services is key to identify gaps and prioritize interventions to expand care capacity for children with central nervous system (CNS) tumors. We sought to evaluate the resources for pediatric neuro-oncology (PNO) in Mexico. Methods: A cross-sectional online survey with 35 questions was designed to assess PNO resources and services, covering aspects including number of patients, infrastructure, human resources, and diagnostic and treatment time intervals. The survey was distributed to the members of the Mexican Association of Pediatric Oncology and Hematology (AMOHP) who belong to the nation's many different health systems. Results: Responses were obtained from 33 institutions, distributed throughout the country and part of the many health systems that exist in Mexico. Twenty-one (64%) institutions had less than 10 new cases of pediatric CNS tumors per year. Although 30 (91%) institutions saw pediatric patients up to the age of 18 years, 2 (6%) had a cutoff of 15 years. Twenty-four (73%) institutions had between 1 and 3 pediatric oncologists providing care for children with CNS tumors. Six (18%) institutions did not have a neurosurgeon, while 19 (57%) institutions had a pediatric neurosurgeon. All centers had a pathology department, but 13 (39%) institutions only had access to basic histopathology. Eleven (33%) institutions reported histopathological diagnoses within one week, but 3 (9%) took more than 4 weeks. Radiotherapy for pediatric CNS tumors was referred to outside centers at 18 (55%) institutions. All centers had access to conventional cytotoxic chemotherapy, but only 6 (18%) had access to targeted therapy. Eighteen (55%) respondents estimated a survival rate of less than 60%. Fifteen (45%) centers attributed the main cause of mortality to non-tumor related factors, including infection and post-surgical complications. Conclusions: This is the first national assessment of the resources available in Mexico for the treatment of CNS tumors. It shows disparities in resource capacity and a lack of the specific and efficient diagnoses that allow timely initiation of treatment. Introduction: Central Line-associated Bloodstream Infections (CLABSI's) burden the health care of children with cancer. Aim: The purpose of the study was to investigate CLABSI's in children with cancer. Material-Method: Systematic review of the literature carried out from 2012-2022, with a search for articles using keywords in international bibliographic databases (PubMed, Scopus). The study sample includes published research articles addressing the treatment, incidence, and risk factors for CVC infections. The inclusion criteria for the articles in the study were: 1. to be written in the English language, 2. to concern children (<18 years old) with cancer who carry central venous line (CVL), 3. to concern the CLABSI's of these children. After searching the databases a total of 12 articles were retrieved. Results: CLABSI's in children with cancer concern 4.5-29% of those children with CVL's. The most common organisms seen in CLABSI's were coagulase-negative staphylococci and Klebsiella pneumoniae and fungi. The factors related to the occurrence of CLABSI's in children with cancer mainly concern the degree of acute illness, the degree of neutropenia, the type of catheter, the intensive administration of chemotherapy, parenteral nutrition, the length of hospital stay, the place of admission of the catheter, antibiotic use, CVL insertion day and function, number of blood transfusions and number of blood tests. Compliance of health professionals with recommended measures for CVL care remains high while compliance of parents/families is low. Conclusions: Healthcare professionals caring for children with cancer should systematically monitor for the occurrence of CLABSI's, take measures to limit the factors that influence their occurrence, and inform/educate parents to comply with the guidelines for care of CVL's.
