As part of a larger study on academic dishonesty, this paper aims to be a simple investigation of students' opinions on some ethical issues, such as cheating in exams and plagiarism in assignments. The main goal was to explore the level of awareness of cheating and plagiarism, the frequency of these dishonest behaviours, students' attitudes toward cheating and plagiarism and differences between demographic variables and the three dimensions mentioned above. This study was conducted through a questionnaire completed by 138 first-year engineering students at a university in Romania. The study showed that cheating and plagiarism practices are sometimes common among students; at the same time, it is necessary to increase students' awareness and attitudes in order to combat such misconduct. Also, students' ethical values and actions are in dissonance. The differences in gender and residence area of students are insignificant. The paper recommends that different actors collaborate to continuously educate and discourage students from engaging in academic dishonesty.

The network function virtualization (NFV) feature lies at the core of modern networking, and it allows on-demand real-time integration of new network functions, which is a great benefit for large-scale infrastructure networks. In contrast to the functional benefits, NFV introduces software complexity and computational overhead through additional abstraction layers. The current article addresses the function validation problem in large-scale infrastructure networks of Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and proposes the utilization of blockchain as a validation technology, as opposed to implementing a custom validation solution. The current work showcases a practical architecture implementation to address the service validation in service provider large-scale networks. The POX-based solution to control software-defined networks (SDN) for NFV is extended to offer additional blockchain capabilities. Thus, a blockchain node is integrated and executed in the POX SDN controller. Transaction experiments are performed between two endpoints located in remote locations on the Internet, and the detailed results are presented to validate the utilization of the blockchain technology used on SDNs' control plane. Academic dishonesty is an important issue in education that continues to be a worldwide problem in the academic field. This paper embodies the findings from a small part of a larger study on academic dishonesty. Its purpose was to investigate the frequency of cheating and plagiarism behaviours, reasons, attitudes towards cheating and plagiarism and to find out ways to prevent and reduce cheating and plagiarism. This study was conducted through a 5-point Likert scale questionnaire completed by 466 engineering students at the bachelor and master level at a university from Romania. The study indicates that cheating and plagiarism are sometimes common among students, while the need to increase attitudes so as to modify students' behaviours toward honest classroom practices has been identified. Students felt that passing exams was a strong reason for cheating and plagiarism. The study also proposes several recommendations to mitigate levels of academic misconduct. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The new culture of higher education emphasizes the importance of integrating assessment into the training process. E-assessment, a term used to describe technologyfacilitated assessment, can be useful and efficient in terms of cost and time, but also of providing an immediate feedback to improve the teaching and learning process. This study investigates students' perception of the effectiveness of using formative eassessment in teaching activities and the usefulness of implementing a Classroom Response System (CRS) in improving students' learning as future engineer teachers. The study employed quantitative and qualitative research methods by two questionnaires to collect data from 75 second-year students in initial teacher training program, Technical University of Cluj-Napoca, Romania. The results were very encouraging and practically all students engaged in this process felt the e-assessment added value to their learning and they would like to see it implemented in other courses. By encouraging students to correct errors and to receive award marks, it has improved students' learning experience. The ultimate criterion of effective teaching is effective and successful learning. The paper focuses on an ascertaining research that investigates the students' opinion about the effective teaching characteristics through a survey based on a questionnaire that was sent to 233 first year students from Technical University of Cluj- Napoca, Romania, attending classes to prepare for a teaching career. The revised set of characteristics of effective teaching according to the Griffith University's PRO-Teaching project (Klopper, C., Drew, S., 2015) presented originally as 'eight dimensions of good teaching' (Nulty, 2001) provided a structured framework that has been the basis for our study in students' evaluation of effective teaching. The data collection procedure was based on a survey with a 5-point Likert scale and an open-ended question with comment box. The students in the contemporary educational system prefer interactive teaching strategies, suitable personal characteristics of teachers and a good teacher-student relationship.
