In the present paper we show that Hall algebras of finitary exact categories behave like quantum groups in the sense that they are generated by indecomposable objects. Moreover, for a large class of such categories, Hall algebras are generated by their primitive elements, with respect to the natural comultiplication, even for nonhereditary categories. Finally, we introduce certain primitively generated subalgebras of Hall algebras and conjecture an analogue of "Lie correspondence" for those finitary categories.

Quantum Drinfeld orbifold algebras are the generalizations of Drinfeld orbifold algebras, which are obtained by replacing polynomial rings by quantum polynomial rings. In [6], the authors give necessary and sufficient conditions on a defining parameters to obtain Drinfeld orbifold algebras. In this article we generalize their result. We discuss the notion of Poincaré duality for graded algebras and its connections with the Koszul duality for quadratic Koszul algebras. The relevance of the Poincaré duality is pointed out for the existence of twisted potentials associated to Koszul algebras as well as for the extraction of a good generalization of Lie algebras among the quadratic-linear algebras. For ungraded quotients of an arbitrary ℤ-graded ring, we define the general PBW property, that covers the classical PBW property and the N-type PBW property studied via the N-Koszulity by several authors (see [2–4]). In view of the noncommutative Gröbner basis theory, we conclude that every ungraded quotient of a path algebra (or a free algebra) has the general PBW property. We remark that an earlier result of Golod [5] concerning Gröbner bases can be used to give a homological characterization of the general PBW property in terms of Shafarevich complex. We determine all inhomogeneous Yang–Mills algebras and super Yang–Mills algebras which are Koszul. Following a recent proposal, a non-homogeneous algebra is said to be Koszul if the homogeneous part is Koszul and if the PBW property holds.
