Background and Purpose: Early Regression Index (ERITCP) is an image-based parameter based on tumor control probability modelling, that reported interesting results in predicting pathological complete response (pCR) after pre-operative chemoradiotherapy (CRT) in rectal cancer. This study aims to evaluate this parameter for Locally Advanced Cervical Cancer (LACC), considering not only T2-weighted but also diffusion-weighted (DW) Magnetic Resonance (MR) images, comparing it with other image-based param-eters such as tumor volumes and apparent coefficient diffusion (ADC).Materials and Methods: A total of 88 patients affected by LACC (FIGO IB2-IVA) and treated with CRT were enrolled. An MRI protocol consisting in two acquisitions (T2-w and DWI) in two times (before treatment and at mid-therapy) was applied. Gross Tumor Volume (GTV) was delineated and ERITCP was calculated for both imaging modalities. Surgery was performed for each patient after nCRT: pCR was considered in case of absence of any residual tumor cells. The predictive performance of ERITCP, GTV volumes (calculated on T2-w and DW MR images) and ADC parameters were evaluated in terms of area (AUC) under the Receiver Operating Characteristic (ROC) curve considering pCR and two-years survival parameters as clinical outcomes.Results: ERITCP and GTV volumes calculated on DW MR images (ERIDWI and Vmid_DWI) significantly predict pCR (AUC = 0.77 and 0.75 respectively) with results superior to those observed considering T2-w MR images or ADC parameters. Significance was also reported in the prediction of 2-years local control and disease free-survival. Conclusion: This study identified ERITCP and Vmid as good predictor of pCR in case of LACC, especially if calculated considering DWI. Using these indicators, it is possible to early identify not responders and modifying the treatment, accordingly.(c) 2022 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved. Aims: Pediatric patients may experience considerable distress during radiotherapy. Combining psychological interventions with standard therapies can reduce the need for sedation. The RADAR Project aims to use a systematic method of recording data that can reveal patients' difficulties and fragility during treatment. In this context, the aim of our study was to investigate the ability of a multidimensional assessment tool (M.A.P.-RT schedule) to predict the need for sedation during radiotherapy. The schedule, which is administered during the first evaluation, was created to collect information on patients and their families in a standardized way. Materials and Methods: The study enrolled pediatric patients (aged 0–18 years or 18–21 with cognitive impairment). Data were collected by means of the M.A.P.-RT module; this explores various thematic areas, and is completed by the radiation oncologist, psychologist and nurse during their first evaluation. Features were selected by means of the Boruta method (random forest classifier), and the totals of the significant partial scores on each subsection of the module were inserted into a logistic model in order to test for their correlation with the use of anesthesia and with the frequency of psychological support. The results of logistic regression (LR) were used to identify the best predictors. The AUC was used to identify the best threshold for the scores in the evaluation. Results: A total of 99 patients were considered for this analysis. The feature that best predicted both the need for anesthesia and the frequency of psychological support was the total score (TS), the AUC of the ROC being 0.9875 for anesthesia and 0.8866 for psychological support. Conclusion: During the first evaluation, the M.A.P.-RT form can predict the need for anesthesia in pediatric patients, and is a potential tool for personalizing therapeutic and management procedures.

Aims: Developmental dysplasia of the hip is an important cause of disability in children and young adult and it also has a significant socio-economic impact in our society. The main objective of our study is to evaluate, in our hospital, the effectiveness of a universal ultrasound screening protocol and to assess the general knowledge about the theme of pediatricians and neonatologists. Methods: Retrospective study of infants born from January 2016 to April 2019, evaluated with hip ultrasound (Graf method). Risk factors assessed were female gender, breech presentation at birth, positive family history and twin birth. For the secondary objective, an anonymous and validated questionnaire was distributed to all pediatricians and neonatologists. Results: Among the 4000 hips analyzed, on ultrasound examination, 98.8% hips resulted mature or immature but appropriate for age, while 1,2% hips were pathological. Analyzing the mature or immature hips, 2,4% were positive on clinical examination and 97,6% were negative. In relation to ultrasound pathological hips, 33,3% have positive clinical examination, while 66,7% negative. From the analysis of risk factors a significant association emerged between female sex, breech presentation and family history with the ultrasound pathological findings. The results of Survey showed that inadequate training about developmental dysplasia of the hip is done during medical school. Conclusions: A universal ultrasound screening allowed us to identify developmental dysplasia of the hip in a number of children with normal clinical examination and no risk factors. Specific training courses should be implemented regarding Developmental Dysplasia of the Hip for neonatologists and pediatricians.
