1. Chip Placement with Diffusion

Abstract: Macro placement is a vital step in digital circuit design that defines the physical location of large collections of components, known as macros, on a 2-dimensional chip. The physical layout obtained during placement determines key performance metrics of the chip, such as power consumption, area, and performance. Existing learning-based methods typically fall short because of their reliance on reinforcement learning, which is slow and limits the flexibility of the agent by casting placement as a sequential process. Instead, we use a powerful diffusion model to place all components simultaneously. To enable such models to train at scale, we propose a novel architecture for the denoising model, as well as an algorithm to generate large synthetic datasets for pre-training. We empirically show that our model can tackle the placement task, and achieve competitive performance on placement benchmarks compared to state-of-the-art methods.

2. DreamSmooth: Improving Model-based Reinforcement Learning via Reward Smoothing

Abstract: Model-based reinforcement learning (MBRL) has gained much attention for its ability to learn complex behaviors in a sample-efficient way: planning actions by generating imaginary trajectories with predicted rewards. Despite its success, we found that surprisingly, reward prediction is often a bottleneck of MBRL, especially for sparse rewards that are challenging (or even ambiguous) to predict. Motivated by the intuition that humans can learn from rough reward estimates, we propose a simple yet effective reward smoothing approach, DreamSmooth, which learns to predict a temporally-smoothed reward, instead of the exact reward at the given timestep. We empirically show that DreamSmooth achieves state-of-the-art performance on long-horizon sparse-reward tasks both in sample efficiency and final performance without losing performance on common benchmarks, such as Deepmind Control Suite and Atari benchmarks., Comment: For code and website, see https://vint-1.github.io/dreamsmooth/

3. An Intensive Outpatient Program for Suicidal College Students

Abstract: Objective: College counseling centers (CCCs) have limited capacity to accommodate high-risk students who need more intensive care than traditional outpatient treatment. We describe an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) to meet the specialized needs of suicidal undergraduates. Participants: Suicidal undergraduates aged 18--24. Methods: Fact-gathering meetings with local universities confirmed high need for prompt access to IOP care for students presenting in crisis at CCCs and emergency rooms, and post-inpatient discharge. We thus iteratively designed and implemented the College Option Services for Teens at Risk (COSTAR) IOP. Results: The 6-week program includes initial diagnostic evaluation and risk assessment followed by weekly skills groups, individual therapy, and medication management. Between September 2017 and January 2020, 148 students (M age = 19.7) attended an average of 5.7 COSTAR group sessions (SD = 4.7). Conclusions: A specialty IOP for suicidal college students holds promise in a stepped care approach for at-risk college students.

4. Critical Approaches to Sustainability in the Business Communication Classroom: A Developmental Perspective

Abstract: Business communication faculty who invite students to critically engage with issues of sustainability must consider students' developmental readiness to do so, as these invitations can often seem uninvited. To promote students' readiness for critical inquiry, faculty should adopt a developmental approach that attends to both cognitive and emotional aspects of learning. This article outlines three ways to frame critical discussions of sustainability: as a new conception of wealth, as a cultural way of knowing, and as an intergenerational social contract. To help faculty develop students' capacity to engage critically, this article includes guided questions to support critical inquiry and a supplemental reading list.

5. Detecting reports of unsafe foods in consumer product reviews.

Abstract: Objectives:Access to safe and nutritious food is essential for good health. However, food can become unsafe due to contamination with pathogens, chemicals or toxins, or mislabeling of allergens. Illness resulting from the consumption of unsafe foods is a global health problem. Here, we develop a machine learning approach for detecting reports of unsafe food products in consumer product reviews from Amazon.com. Materials and Methods:We linked Amazon.com food product reviews to Food and Drug Administration (FDA) food recalls from 2012 to 2014 using text matching approaches in a PostGres relational database. We applied machine learning methods and over- and under-sampling methods to the linked data to automate the detection of reports of unsafe food products. Results:Our data consisted of 1 297 156 product reviews from Amazon.com. Only 5149 (0.4%) were linked to recalled food products. Bidirectional Encoder Representation from Transformations performed best in identifying unsafe food reviews, achieving an F1 score, precision and recall of 0.74, 0.78, and 0.71, respectively. We also identified synonyms for terms associated with FDA recalls in more than 20 000 reviews, most of which were associated with nonrecalled products. This might suggest that many more products should have been recalled or investigated. Discussion and Conclusion:Challenges to improving food safety include, urbanization which has led to a longer food chain, underreporting of illness and difficulty in linking contaminated food to illness. Our approach can improve food safety by enabling early identification of unsafe foods which can lead to timely recall thereby limiting the health and economic impact on the public.

Abstract: Introduction The aging process in the elderly can change the condition of the oral cavity, regarding both clinical appearance and function. The oral mucosa becomes more susceptible to mechanical damage and irritant agents. Any changes in the oral mucosa, including normal variance, should be examined. This is especially true for the elderly, to improve oral health and prevent any abnormalities. Objective To describe the prevalence of oral normal variance in healthy elderly patients. Methods An observational descriptive study with a cross-sectional design with total sampling conducted from March to April 2020. Results Among the 117 elderly patients who participated in this study, 58 were described as healthy without any comorbidities. From those subjects, there were 117 cases of normal variance in the oral mucosa. The three most prevalent issues were fissured tongue (93.1%), coated tongue (58.62%), and crenated tongue (27.59%). Conclusion Fissured tongue is a normal variance of the oral mucosa that is commonly found in healthy elderly patients.

Abstract: Erivajadustega lapsed vajavad õppimisel teistest enam toetust ning keskkonnas tehtavad kohandused peaksid kindlustama kvaliteetse alushariduse kõikidele sama rühmaruumi jagavatele lastele (Barton & Smith, 2015; Næsby, 2020). Tegevusuuringu eesmärk oli katsetada eripedagoogiliste koolituste ja nõustamise kombinatsiooni õpetajate toetamisel ning hinnata selle sobilikkust kaasava hariduse edenemiseks lasteaiarühma tasandil. Kahes aia- ja kahes sobitusrühmas kaardistati eelnev olukord. Seejärel said õpetajad osaleda asutuse tellitud eripedagoogilistel koolitustel ja õpetajaid (N = 8) nõustati veebi vahendusel. Järgnes nõustamisel kokkulepitu rakendamine rühmades 6–8 nädala jooksul ja lõpuks hinnati muutust ning pakutud sekkumiste asjakohasust ja kasulikkust. Õpetajad leidsid, et eripedagoogilised koolitused ja nõustamine toetasid kaasava hariduse rakendamist (viiepalliskaalal oli keskmine hinnang 3,6). Uuringu käigus tõusis esile vajadus muuta tõhusamaks koostööd rühmas töötavate täiskasvanute vahel. Summary

9. Keeping children healthy during and after COVID-19 pandemic: meeting youth physical activity needs

Abstract: Abstract Background The purpose of this study was to: 1) examine the maintenance of Physical Education and physical activity during the distance learning time, 2) determine the resources educators are utilizing to deliver PE curricula, and 3) understand the challenges experienced by educators during distance learning. Methods A survey was sent to a cohort of school-based fitness assessment software users. Respondents were largely school-based individuals including PE teachers (n = 1789), school (n = 62) and district administrators (n = 64), nurses (n = 3), and “other” (n = 522). Results Of 2440 respondents, most were from a city or suburb (69.7%), elementary or middle school (72.3%), and had Title 1 status (60.4%), an indicator of low socioeconomic status. Most campuses were closed during the COVID-19 pandemic (97.8%). Of the schools closed during the pandemic, only 2.8% had no prior PE requirements and that increased to 21% during the pandemic. In schools that remained open during the pandemic, 7.7% had no prior PE requirements and this increased to 60.5%. Importantly, 79% of respondents reported that students were either “significantly less” or “somewhat less” physically active during the closure. For closed schools, the most frequently cited challenges included “student access to online learning“, “teacher/student communication” and “teacher remote work arrangements”. For open schools, the most commonly reported challenges included “social distancing”, “access to gymnasium/equipment”, and “concern for personal health and wellbeing”. Conclusion The COVID-19 pandemic has caused important reductions in PE requirements and time engaged in physical activity. Challenges experienced by teachers were identified for closed and open schools.

11. The Prevalence of Stress-Related Disorders in BC School Districts. BCTF Research Report: Part of the BCTF Information Handbook. Section XII. 2009-WLC-01

Abstract: This paper presents British Columbia Teachers' Federation's (BCTF) research report that has produced tables which allow the BCTF and its locals to consider the prevalence of Salary Indemnity Plan (SIP) claims by school district. While the data shown in this report indicate high prevalence of stress in some school districts, they actually under-report the total prevalence of stress-related disorders in BC teachers. The tables show each district's teacher full-time equivalent (FTE) totals as a percentage of provincial FTEs, as well as their SIP claims as a percentage of provincial SIP claims. Using the 2003-08 data, 34 BC districts have more teachers above age 50 than the 39% provincial average while 26 have below average numbers. Eight districts have over 50% of their teachers over 50, yet only three of these (Sunshine Coast, Gulf Islands, Vancouver Island North) incur proportionately higher SIP claims than the provincial average. Abstract: We present a measurement of the helicity of the W boson produced in top quark decays using ttbar decays in the l+jets and dilepton final states selected from a sample of 5.4 fb^-1 of collisions recorded using the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron ppbar collider. We measure the fractions of longitudinal and right-handed W bosons to be f_0 = 0.669 +- 0.102 [ +- 0.078 (stat.) +- 0.065 (syst.)] and f_+ = 0.023 +- 0.053 [+- 0.041 (stat.) +- 0.034 (syst.)], respectively. This result is consistent at the 98% level with the standard model. A measurement with f_0 fixed to the value from the standard model yields f_+ = 0.010 +- 0.037 [+- 0.022 (stat.) +- 0.030 (syst.) ]., Comment: To be submitted to Phys. Rev. D

Abstract: We report the result of a search for the pair production of the lightest supersymmetric partner of the top quark ($\tilde{t}_1$) in $p\bar{p}$ collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 1.96 TeV at the Fermilab Tevatron collider corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.4 fb$^{-1}$. The scalar top quarks are assumed to decay into a $b$ quark, a charged lepton, and a scalar neutrino ($\tilde{\nu}$), and the search is performed in the electron plus muon final state. No significant excess of events above the standard model prediction is detected, and improved exclusion limits at the 95% C.L. are set in the the ($M_{\tilde{t}_1}$,$M_{\tilde{\nu}}$) mass plane.

Abstract: We extract the total width of the top quark, Gamma_t, from the partial decay width Gamma(t -> W b) measured using the t-channel cross section for single top quark production and from the branching fraction B(t -> W b) measured in ttbar events using up to 2.3 fb^-1 of integrated luminosity collected by the D0 Collaboration at the Tevatron ppbar Collider. The result is Gamma_t = 1.99 +0.69 -0.55 GeV, which translates to a top-quark lifetime of tau_t = (3.3 +1.3 -0.9) x 10^-25 s. Assuming a high mass fourth generation b' quark and unitarity of the four-generation quark-mixing matrix, we set the first upper limit on |Vtb'| < 0.63 at 95% C.L., Comment: submitted to Phys. Rev. 15. The Development of a Cultural Assessment Tool: Paving the Way to a Culturally Comfortable Classroom.

Abstract: In a multicultural classroom it is the seemingly small issues, such as classroom informality or interpersonal relationships between male and female students, that can cause misunderstandings and problems. This paper delineates a simple assessment tool to determine what behaviors might be a source of potential discomfort in the classroom. The tool is based on Giger and Davidhizar (1995) criteria that determine a culturally unique individual. The assessment tool analyzes aspects of six cultural phenomena: communication, personal space, social organization, time, environmental control, and biological variation. The tool is divided into three sections: the first section consists of 18 questions focusing on cultural perceptions regarding time, personal space, interpersonal communication, touch, and select social issues such as food that have implications in the classroom setting; the second section contains 32 "yes or no" questions focusing on select areas of cultural beliefs and values; and the third section asks for brief demographic data such as sex, age, religion, occupation, and country of birth. The tool was piloted with a population of 35 individuals ranging in age from 12 to 59 years old, of diverse religions and nationalities, and enrolled in middle school, high school, community college, or university. 17. Employability Skills for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities: Supervisors' versus Teachers' Perspectives

Abstract: Employability skills are important for employment access, success, and excellence, regardless of disability status. Importantly, employability skills are essential to the employment success of individuals with intellectual disabilities. Unfortunately, there are differences between the employability skills valued by employers, and the employability skills taught by educators. A qualitative, embedded multiple-case study design was used to explore how the employability skills taught by retired high school special education teachers who had taught vocation-related skills to students with intellectual disabilities compared to the employability skills valued by supervisors of adolescent and young adults with intellectual disabilities working in non-management positions in fast food restaurants. Retired teachers were chosen because they are the most important agents of their students' employability skills training. Fast food restaurant supervisors were chosen because the food service industry is where many individuals with intellectual disabilities find jobs if employed after exiting high school. Note that many students with intellectual disabilities expressed an interest in working in cafes and fast food restaurants. Purposive sampling was used to select eight participants, including four retired special education teachers and four fast food restaurant supervisors who interacted professionally with adolescents and young adults with intellectual disabilities. Analytic generalizations of these cases confirmed limited literal replications between the four supervisors' cases and between the three teachers' cases, and confirmed limited theoretical replication between the supervisors' and teachers' sets of cases. In addition, although retired teachers no longer retained any potentially embeddable teaching resources, the data triangulation of the supervisor-provided restaurant resources corroborated their perspectives on some of the skills they expressly valued. The findings indicated that there remains a difference between the employability skills valued by supervisors and the employability skills taught by teachers. Finally, the primary recommendation for future research, whether qualitative, quantitative, or mixed-methods, is to include the perspectives of adolescents and young adults with intellectual disabilities. Abstract: In recent years, the technological advances leading to the production of high-resolution Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) images has enabled more and more effective target recognition capabilities. However, high spatial resolution is not always achievable, and, for some particular sensing modes, such as Foliage Penetrating Radars, low resolution imaging is often the only option. In this paper, the problem of automatic target recognition in Low Resolution Foliage Penetrating (FOPEN) SAR is addressed through the use of Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) able to extract both low and high level features of the imaged targets. Additionally, to address the issue of limited dataset size, Generative Adversarial Networks are used to enlarge the training set. Finally, a Receiver Operating Characteristic (ROC)-based post-classification decision approach is used to reduce classification errors and measure the capability of the classifier to provide a reliable output. The effectiveness of the proposed framework is demonstrated through the use of real SAR FOPEN data.

23. Submaximal Expression of the Bilateral Deficit

Abstract: Thirty-six participants performed bilateral and unilateral isometric elbow flexion trials at what they perceived to be 100, 75, 50, and 25% of maximal effort. Absolute bilateral deficits ranged from -16% at 25% effort to -10% at 100% effort. The deficit included a component independent of consciousness and a component inversely related to intensity attributable to perceptual differences between unilateral and bilateral tasks. Forty-two participants performed bilateral and unilateral isometric elbow flexion trials at 100, 80, 60, 40, and 20% of maximal effort. Perception of effort in submaximal bilateral trials was consistently and significantly higher (5.5-9.6%) than corresponding unilateral trials. These data suggest that the bilateral deficit exists at submaximal levels of effort and is based on perceptual and physiological components. (Contains 7 figures and 2 tables.)

The research consisted in presenting the evolution stages of the bank marketing and the manner in which the concept has been approached and perceived, in time, by various Romanian and foreign specialists. Through analysis, I have shown the importance of including the bank marketing concept into the assembly of tactical and strategic decisions of the banking companies.

Abstract: Population aged 60 years old and above are growing in number. The increase was due to the increasing life expectancy in Indonesia; a fact that will have an impact on general and oral health in the future. Tongue lesions are related to degenerative diseases such as diabetes mellitus, hypertension and heart disease. The purpose of this study was to determine the prevalence of tongue lesions related to degenerative diseases in the elderly at Ketabang Public Health Center, Surabaya City, East Java. This is an observational descriptive study with a cross-sectional design. Intraoral soft tissue examination was performed by the general dentist and oral medicine specialist in elderly patients coming to Ketabang Public Health Center between January and March 2020. During this period, there were 85 elderly patients with degenerative diseases and prevalence of tongue lesions, namely fissured tongue (77.6%), coated tongue (67.1%), crenated tongue (32.9%), atrophic glossitis (29.4%), lingual varices (12.9%), and oral melanotic macule (1.1%). Fissured tongue is the most common tongue lesion found in 77% elderly patients with degenerative diseases. Fissured tongue often develops with age and in patients with hyposalivation related to diabetes mellitus and anti-hypertension drugs. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract: The identification of the Roman Warm Period and the El Niño–Southern Oscillation by geoscientists and climate researchers over the past several decades and recognition of their role in shaping human history elsewhere have offered Southwestern archaeologists new tools for understanding how climatic changes may have contributed to the forager-to-farmer transition. Our study evaluates the possible effects of climate change and severe drought conditions across the region with respect to the Colorado Plateau, Northern Rio Grande Valley, and Tucson Basin. Each area appears to be characterized by a separate historical trajectory that would serve as the foundation for the Neolithic societies that followed.

Abstract: Partnering with patients and community stakeholders to identify, design, undertake, and evaluate research is increasingly common. We describe our experience with creating and developing an ongoing Community Stakeholder Committee to guide lung health research for disease prevention and health care improvement. This committee is central to the integrated knowledge translation approach of Legacy for Airway Health, which is dedicated to preventing and improving care for lung diseases. Patient Engagement in Research (PEIR) aims to improve the relevance, quality, and implementation of research activities. Meaningful patient and community engagement in research remains challenging to enact. The committee was established in October 2019, just before the COVID-19 pandemic, and quickly adapted from in-person to virtual engagement activities. This change led to an increased focus on relationship-building and mutual support alongside other research and training activities. We conducted a baseline evaluation survey after 1 year (October 2020), using a modified version of the Patient Engagement in Research Scale (PEIRS-22). Whereas individual scores suggested varied levels of meaningful engagement within the committee, overall results indicated strong personal relationships and a sense of feeling valued and respected, as well as a desire for increased opportunities to contribute to research within the program. Overall, this experience offers lessons learned about the importance of spending time and effort to build relationships, particularly in a virtual context, and shows that meaningful engagement can be achieved even when personal contact is limited. These efforts are illustrated in successful grant applications, research involvement, and stronger personal relationships.

36. Rare male cancers: Effect of social deprivation on a cohort of penile cancer patients.

Abstract: Background: Penile cancer is a rare disease, with approximately 600 cases diagnosed every year in the UK. In this study, we assessed the impact of social deprivation on penile cancer, concentrating on incidence, disease factors, surgical treatment and mortality within our 'Supranetwork' population. Methods: All cases of penile cancer in the West of Scotland were identified from the uro-oncology multidisciplinary team meetings over a 10-year period covering January 2008 to December 2017. Patients underwent treatment within the remit of a centralised service, and social deprivation was determined using the Scottish Index of Multiple Deprivation (SIMD), which is the Scottish government's official tool to identify areas of multiple deprivations. Results: A total of 278 patients were identified, with an age range of 27–97 years (M =64 years). The incidence of penile cancer in SIMD category 1 (most deprived) is 7.2/100,000 population at risk compared to 2.8/100,000 population at risk in SIMD category 5 (least deprived). Histologically, a higher proportion of aggressive grade 3 cancers (45% vs. 16%, p =0.03) and more advanced N2/N3 nodal disease (63% vs. 33%, p =0.04) was found in SIMD category 1 compared to SIMD category 5, suggesting higher incidence of delayed presentation with more advanced and aggressive disease in the most deprived populations. Conclusions: The level of social deprivation shows a significant association with penile cancer incidence, tumour grade and stage at time of diagnosis, with a resulting disproportionate impact on morbidity and mortality in the most deprived cohort of patients. Public awareness and efforts to increase earlier diagnoses of penile cancer in these 'hard to reach' men should be an important step in improving overall outcomes from penile cancer. No. of bitstreams: 0 Previous issue date: 2009-05-14 We describe a search for production of a charged Higgs boson, qq̄′→H+, reconstructed in the tb̄ final state in the mass range 180≤MH+≤300GeV. The search was undertaken at the Fermilab Tevatron collider with a center-of-mass energy s=1.96TeV and uses 0.9fb-1 of data collected with the D0 detector. We find no evidence for charged Higgs boson production and set upper limits on the production cross section in the types I, II, and III two-Higgs-doublet models (2HDMs). An excluded region in the (MH+, tanβ) plane for type I 2HDM is presented. © 2009 The American Physical Society. Abstract: We measure the correlation between the spin of the top quark and the spin of the anti-top quark in (ttbar -> W+ W- b bbar -> l+ nu b l- nubar bbar) final states produced in ppbar collisions at a center of mass energy sqrt(s)=1.96 TeV, where l is an electron or muon. The data correspond to an integrated luminosity of 5.4 fb-1 and were collected with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron collider. The correlation is extracted from the angles of the two leptons in the t and tbar rest frames, yielding a correlation strength C= 0.10^{+0.45}_{-0.45}, in agreement with the NLO QCD prediction within two standard deviations, but also in agreement with the no correlation hypothesis.

Abstract: We present a search for the production of a heavy gauge boson, W', that decays to third-generation quarks, by the D0 Collaboration in ppbar collisions at sqrt(s)= 1.96 TeV. We set 95% confidence level upper limits on the production cross section times branching fraction. For the first time, we set limits for arbitrary combinations of left- and right-handed couplings of the W' boson to fermions. For couplings with the same strength as the standard model W boson, we set the following limits for M(W') > m(nu_R): M(W')>863 GeV for purely left-handed couplings, M(W')>885 GeV for purely right-handed couplings, and M(W')>916 GeV if both left- and right-handed couplings are present. The limit for right-handed couplings improves for M(W') 890 GeV.

Abstract: Data recorded by the D0 experiment at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider are analyzed to search for neutral Higgs bosons produced in association with b quarks. The search is performed in the three-b-quark channel using multijet-triggered events corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.2fb-1. In the absence of any significant excess above background, limits are set on the cross section multiplied by the branching ratio in the Higgs boson mass range 90 to 300 GeV, extending the excluded regions in the parameter space of the minimal supersymmetric standard model.

Abstract: We present a new measurement of the WZ -> lvll (l = e, mu) cross section and limits on anomalous triple gauge couplings. Using 4.1 fb(-1) of integrated luminosity of p (p) over bar collisions at root s = 1.96 TeV, we observe 34 WZ candidate events with an estimated background of 6.0 +/- 0.4 events. We measure the WZ production cross section to be 3.89(-0.90)(+1.07) pb, in good agreement with the standard model prediction. We find no evidence for anomalous WWZ couplings and set 95% C.L. limits on the coupling parameters, -0.077 < lambda(z) < 0.093 and -0.029 < Delta kappa(z) < 0.080 in the HISZ parameterization for a Lambda = 2 TeV form factor scale. These are the best limits to date obtained from the direct measurement of the WWZ vertex.

Abstract: We present a measurement of the differential cross section for $t\bar{t}$ events produced in $p\bar{p}$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}=1.96$ TeV as a function of the transverse momentum ($p_T$) of the top quark. The selected events contain a high-$p_T$ lepton ($\ell$), four or more jets, and a large imbalance in $p_T$, and correspond to 1 fb${}^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity recorded with the D0 detector. Each event must have at least one candidate for a $b$ jet. Objects in the event are associated through a constrained kinematic fit to the $t\bar{t}\to WbW\bar{b} \to \ell\nu b q\bar{q}'\bar{b}$ process. Results from next-to-leading-order perturbative QCD calculations agree with the measured differential cross section. Comparisons are also provided to predictions from Monte Carlo event generators using QCD calculations at different levels of precision.

Abstract: We present a new measurement of the Z/gamma* transverse momentum distribution in the range 0-330 GeV, in proton-antiproton collisions at root s = 1.96 TeV. The measurement uses 0.97 fb(-1) of integrated luminosity recorded by the D0 experiment and is the first using the Z/gamma* -> mu(+)mu(-) + X channel at this center-of-mass energy. This is also the first measurement of the Z/gamma* transverse momentum distribution that presents the result at the level of particles entering the detector, minimizing dependence on theoretical models. As any momentum of the Z/gamma* in the plane transverse to the incoming beams must be balanced by some recoiling system, primarily the result of QCD radiation in the initial state, this variable is an excellent probe of the underlying process. Tests of the predictions of QCD calculations and current event generators show they have varied success in describing the data. Using this measurement as an input to theoretical predictions will allow for a better description of hadron collider data and hence it will increase experimental sensitivity to rare signals. Abstract: The inclusive dijet production double differential cross section as a function of the dijet invariant mass and of the largest absolute rapidity (y_{max}) of the two jets with the largest transverse momentum in an event is measured in proton anti-proton collisions at sqrt{s} = 1.96$ TeV using 0.7 fb^{-1} of data collected with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. The measurement is performed in six rapidity regions up to |y|=2.4. Next-to-leading order perturbative QCD predictions are found to be in agreement with the data.

Abstract: We present a search for flavor changing neutral currents via quark-gluon couplings in a sample of single top quark final states corresponding to 2.3 fb(-1) of integrated luminosity collected with the DO detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. We select events containing a single top quark candidates with an additional jet, and obtain separation between signal and background using Bayesian neural networks. We find consistency between background expectation and observed data, and set limits on flavor changing neutral current gluon couplings of the top quark to up quarks (tgu) and charm quarks (tgc). The cross section limits at the 95% C.L. are sigma(tgu) gu) gc) < 3.9 x 10(-3).
