Entropic optimal transport problems are regularized versions of optimal transport problems. These models play an increasingly important role in machine learning and generative modelling. For finite spaces, these problems are commonly solved using Sinkhorn algorithm (a.k.a. iterative proportional fitting procedure). However, in more general settings the Sinkhorn iterations are based on nonlinear conditional/conjugate transformations and exact finite-dimensional solutions cannot be computed. This article presents a finite-dimensional recursive formulation of the iterative proportional fitting procedure for general Gaussian multivariate models. As expected, this recursive formulation is closely related to the celebrated Kalman filter and related Riccati matrix difference equations, and it yields algorithms that can be implemented in practical settings without further approximations. We extend this filtering methodology to develop a refined and self-contained convergence analysis of Gaussian Sinkhorn algorithms, including closed form expressions of entropic transport maps and Schr\"odinger bridges., Comment: 68 pages

Spin qubits in quantum dots are a promising technology for quantum computing due to their fast response time and long coherence times. An electromagnetic pulse is applied to the system for a specific duration to perform a desired rotation. To avoid decoherence, the amplitude and gate time must be highly accurate. In this work, we aim to study the impact of leakage during the gate time evolution of a spin qubit encoded in a double quantum dot device. We prove that, in the weak interaction regime, leakage introduces a shift in the phase of the time evolution operator, causing over- or under-rotations. Indeed, controlling the leakage terms is useful for adjusting the time needed to perform a quantum computation. Higher Forms Symmetries (HFS) of a closed bosonic M2-brane theory formulated from the world-volume perspective on a compactified target space $\mathcal{M}_9 \times T^2$ are obtained. We show that the cancellation of the 't Hooft anomaly present in the theory is related to a 3-form flux with 1-gerbe structure associated to the world-volume flux quantization condition. A Wilson surface is naturally defined on the topological operator that characterize the holonomy of the M2-brane. The projection of the flux quantization condition onto the spatial part of the worldvolume, leads to a flux quantization on the M2-brane. The topological operators realise discrete symmetries associated with the winding and the flux/monopole condition. The Calar Alto Void Integral-field Treasury surveY (CAVITY) is a legacy project aimed at characterising the population of galaxies inhabiting voids, which are the most under-dense regions of the cosmic web, located in the Local Universe. This paper describes the first public data release (DR1) of CAVITY, comprising science-grade optical data cubes for the initial 100 out of a total of $\sim$300 galaxies in the Local Universe ($0.005 < z < 0.050$). These data were acquired using the integral-field spectrograph PMAS/PPak mounted on the 3.5m telescope at the Calar Alto observatory. The DR1 galaxy sample encompasses diverse characteristics in the color-magnitude space, morphological type, stellar mass, and gas ionisation conditions, providing a rich resource for addressing key questions in galaxy evolution through spatially resolved spectroscopy. The galaxies in this study were observed with the low-resolution V500 set-up, spanning the wavelength range 3745-7500 \AA, with a spectral resolution of 6.0 \AA\ (FWHM). Here, we describe the data reduction and characteristics and data structure of the CAVITY datasets essential for their scientific utilisation, highlighting such concerns as vignetting effects, as well as the identification of bad pixels and management of spatially correlated noise. Acoustic waves (AW) have recently emerged as an energy-efficient ice removal procedure compatible with functional and industrial-relevant substrates. However, critical aspects at fundamental and experimental levels have yet to be disclosed to optimize their operational conditions. Identifying the processes and mechanisms by which different types of AWs induce de-icing are some of these issues. Herein, using model LiNbO3 systems and two types of interdigitated transducers, we analyze the de-icing and anti-icing efficiencies and mechanisms driven by Rayleigh surface acoustic waves (R-SAW) and Lamb waves with 120 and 510 um wavelengths, respectively. Through the experimental analysis of de-icing and active anti-icing processes and the finite element simulation of the AW generation, propagation, and interaction with small ice aggregates, we disclose that Lamb waves are more favorable than R-SAWs to induce de-icing and/or prevent the freezing of droplets. Prospects for applications of this study are supported by proof of concept experiments, including de-icing in an ice wind tunnel, demonstrating that Lamb waves can efficiently remove ice layers covering large LN substrates. Results indicate that the de-icing mechanism may differ for Lamb waves or R-SAWs and that the wavelength must be considered as an important parameter for controlling the efficiency.

In this paper we examine the numerical approximation of the limiting invariant measure associated with Feynman-Kac formulae. These are expressed in a discrete time formulation and are associated with a Markov chain and a potential function. The typical application considered here is the computation of eigenvalues associated with non-negative operators as found, for example, in physics or particle simulation of rare-events. We focus on a novel \emph{lagged} approximation of this invariant measure, based upon the introduction of a ratio of time-averaged Feynman-Kac marginals associated with a positive operator iterated $l \in\mathbb{N}$ times; a lagged Feynman-Kac formula. This estimator and its approximation using Diffusion Monte Carlo (DMC) have been extensively employed in the physics literature. In short, DMC is an iterative algorithm involving $N\in\mathbb{N}$ particles or walkers simulated in parallel, that undergo sampling and resampling operations. In this work, it is shown that for the DMC approximation of the lagged Feynman-Kac formula, one has an almost sure characterization of the $\mathbb{L}_1$-error as the time parameter (iteration) goes to infinity and this is at most of $\mathcal{O}(\exp\{-\kappa l\}/N)$, for $\kappa>0$. In addition a non-asymptotic in time, and time uniform $\mathbb{L}_1-$bound is proved which is $\mathcal{O}(l/\sqrt{N})$. We also prove a novel central limit theorem to give a characterization of the exact asymptotic in time variance. This analysis demonstrates that the strategy used in physics, namely, to run DMC with $N$ and $l$ small and, for long time enough, is mathematically justified. Our results also suggest how one should choose $N$ and $l$ in practice. In this study, we investigate the construction of quantum CSS duadic codes with dimensions greater than one. We introduce a method for extending smaller splittings of quantum duadic codes to create larger, potentially degenerate quantum duadic codes. Furthermore, we present a technique for computing or bounding the minimum distances of quantum codes constructed through this approach. Additionally, we introduce quantum CSS triadic codes, a family of quantum codes with a rate of at least $\frac{1}{3}$.

PLATO (PLAnetary Transits and Oscillations of stars) is ESA's M3 mission designed to detect and characterise extrasolar planets and perform asteroseismic monitoring of a large number of stars. PLATO will detect small planets (down to <2 R_(Earth)) around bright stars (<11 mag), including terrestrial planets in the habitable zone of solar-like stars. With the complement of radial velocity observations from the ground, planets will be characterised for their radius, mass, and age with high accuracy (5 %, 10 %, 10 % for an Earth-Sun combination respectively). PLATO will provide us with a large-scale catalogue of well-characterised small planets up to intermediate orbital periods, relevant for a meaningful comparison to planet formation theories and to better understand planet evolution. It will make possible comparative exoplanetology to place our Solar System planets in a broader context. In parallel, PLATO will study (host) stars using asteroseismology, allowing us to determine the stellar properties with high accuracy, substantially enhancing our knowledge of stellar structure and evolution. The payload instrument consists of 26 cameras with 12cm aperture each. For at least four years, the mission will perform high-precision photometric measurements. Here we review the science objectives, present PLATO's target samples and fields, provide an overview of expected core science performance as well as a description of the instrument and the mission profile at the beginning of the serial production of the flight cameras. PLATO is scheduled for a launch date end 2026. This overview therefore provides a summary of the mission to the community in preparation of the upcoming operational phases.

We have learnt in the last decades that the majority of galaxies belong to high density regions interconnected in a sponge-like fashion. This large-scale structure is characterised by clusters, filaments, walls, where most galaxies concentrate, but also under-dense regions, called voids. The void regions and the galaxies within represent an ideal place for the study of galaxy formation and evolution as they are largely unaffected by the complex physical processes that transform galaxies in high-density environments. These void galaxies can hold the key as well to answer current challenges to the $\Lambda$CDM paradigm. The Calar Alto Void Integral-field Treasury surveY (CAVITY) is a Legacy project approved by the Calar Alto Observatory to obtain spatially resolved spectroscopic information of $\sim300$ void galaxies in the Local Universe (0.005 < z < 0.050) covering from -17.0 to -21.5 in $\rm r$ band absolute magnitude. It officially started in January 2021 and has been awarded 110 useful dark observing nights at the 3.5 m telescope using the PMAS spectrograph. Complementary follow-up projects including deep optical imaging, integrated, as well as resolved CO data, and integrated HI spectra, have joint the PMAS observations and naturally complete the scientific aim of characterising galaxies in cosmic voids. The extension data has been denominated CAVITY+. The data will be available to the whole community in different data releases, the first of which is planned for July 2024, and it will provide the community with PMAS data cubes for around 100 void galaxies through a user friendly, and well documented, database platform. In this paper, we study the relation of the M2-brane with fluxes and monodromy in $SL(2,\mathbb{Z})$, which has a quantum discrete supersymmetric spectrum with finite multiplicity, and type IIB gauged supergravities in nine dimensions. $SL(2,\mathbb{Z})$ is the group of isotopy classes of the area preserving diffeomorphisms. The global description of these M2-branes we are considering is formulated on twisted torus bundles, and they are classified in terms of $H^2(\Sigma,\mathcal{Z}_{\mathcal{\rho}})$, or equivalently, by their coinvariants for a given monodromy subgroup. We find the 'gauge' symmetries between equivalent M2-branes, on torus bundles with monodromy, that leads to $\mathbb{R}$, $SO(2)$ or $SO(1,1)$, the symmetry groups of type IIB gauged supergravities in 9d. We obtain an explicit relation between the equivalent classes of M2-brane bundles and the mass parameters that classify the gaugings of type IIB supergravities in 9d. We also find that the symmetries, between inequivalent M2-branes on twisted torus bundles for a given monodromy, are related with $\mathbb{Z}$, $\mathcal{Z}_3$, $\mathcal{Z}_5$, $\mathcal{Z}_9$ or $\mathcal{Z}_{2n-7}$ for $n\geq 5$, the U-duality symmetry group, a subgroup of $SL(2,\mathbb{Z})$. In distinction, in the case without monodromy, related to type II maximal supergravity at low energies, its U-duality group corresponds to the full $SL(2,\mathbb{Z})$., Comment: 32 pages, 1 figure

We apply a methodology to build a sample of extreme emission line galaxies (EELGs) using integral field spectroscopy data. In this work we follow the spectroscopic criteria corresponding for EELG selection and use the MUSE Hubble Ultra-Deep field survey, which includes the deepest spectroscopic survey ever performed. Objects in the primary (extended) sample were detected requiring a rest-frame equivalent width EWo $\geqslant$ 300A (200A $\leq$ EWo $\leq$ 300A) in any of the emission lines of [OII]$\lambda\lambda$3726,29, [OIII]$\lambda\lambda$5007,4959, or H$\alpha$. A detailed closer inspection of the spectra of the candidates selected has been performed on a one by one basis, in order to confirm their classification. For this sample, the line fluxes, physical properties and chemical abundances of the EELGs have been derived as well as their spatially resolved structure and kinematics. Four (five) of the galaxies in the primary (extended) sample, $\sim$57$\%$ ($\sim$83$\%$), were spatially resolved. Three (none) of them present a clear pattern compatible with rotation. We have shown how our entire EELGs sample share the same loci defined by high-redshift galaxies (z $\approx$ 6-8) for the mass-metallicity relation, illustrating their role as local analogs., Comment: 20 pages, 18 figures, 5 tables. The Universe is shaped as a web-like structure, formed by clusters, filaments, and walls that leave large volumes in between named voids. Galaxies in voids have been found to be of a later type, bluer, less massive, and to have a slower evolution than galaxies in denser environments (filaments and walls). However, the effect of the void environment on their stellar population properties is still unclear. We aim to address this question using 118 optical integral field unit datacubes from the Calar Alto Void Integral-field Treasury surveY (CAVITY), observed with the PMAS/PPaK spectrograph at the 3.5m telescope at the Calar Alto Observatory (Almer\'ia, Spain). We used the non-parametric full spectral fitting code STARLIGHT to estimate their stellar population properties: stellar mass, stellar mass surface density, age, star formation rate (SFR), and specific star formation rate (sSFR). We analysed the results through the global and spatially resolved properties. Then, we compared them with a control sample of galaxies in filaments and walls from the CALIFA survey, matched in stellar mass and morphological type. Key findings include void galaxies having a slightly higher half-light radius (HLR), lower stellar mass surface density, and younger ages across all morphological types, and slightly elevated SFR and sSFR (only significant enough for Sas). Many of these differences appear in the outer parts of spiral galaxies in voids (HLR > 1), which are younger and exhibit a higher sSFR, indicative of less evolved discs. This trend is also found for early-type spirals, suggesting a slower transition from star-forming to quiescent states in voids. Our analysis indicates that void galaxies, influenced by their surroundings, undergo a more gradual evolution, especially in their outer regions, with a more pronounced effect for low-mass galaxies., Comment: 24 pages, 22 figures, 5 tables. Zero-noise extrapolation (ZNE) stands as the most widespread quantum error mitigation technique in order to aim the recovery of noise-free expectation values of observables of interest by means of Noisy Intermediate-Scale Quantum (NISQ) machines. Recently, Otten and Gray proposed a multidimensional generalization of polynomial ZNE for systems where there is not a tunable global noise source [Phys. Rev. A \textbf{99,} 012338 (2019)]. Specifically, the authors refer to multiqubit systems where each of the qubits experiences several noise processes with different rates, i.e. a non-identically distributed noise model. The authors proposed a hypersurface method for mitigating such noise, which is technically correct. While effective, the proposed method presents an unbearable experiment repetition overhead, making it impractical, at least from the perspective of quantum computing. In this comment, we show that the traditional extrapolation techniques can be applied for such non-identically distributed noise setting consisted of many different noise sources, implying that the measurement overhead is reduced considerably. The Diffusion Monte Carlo method with constant number of walkers, also called Stochastic Reconfiguration as well as Sequential Monte Carlo, is a widely used Monte Carlo methodology for computing the ground-state energy and wave function of quantum systems. In this study, we present the first mathematically rigorous analysis of this class of stochastic methods on non necessarily compact state spaces, including linear diffusions evolving in quadratic absorbing potentials, yielding what seems to be the first result of this type for this class of models. We present a novel and general mathematical framework with easily checked Lyapunov stability conditions that ensure the uniform-in-time convergence of Diffusion Monte Carlo estimates towards the top of the spectrum of Schr\"odinger operators. For transient free evolutions, we also present a divergence blow up of the estimates w.r.t. the time horizon even when the asymptotic fluctuation variances are uniformly bounded. We also illustrate the impact of these results in the context of generalized coupled quantum harmonic oscillators with non necessarily reversible nor stable diffusive particle and a quadratic energy absorbing well associated with a semi-definite positive matrix force.

Grid-tied photovoltaic (PV) installations with Distributed Maximum Power Point Tracking (DMPPT) architectures include a DC-DC Module Integrated Converter (MIC) for managing each PV panel, isolating it from the others, reducing the mismatching effect and maximizing the harvested power. In this paper, the Autotransformer Forward converter with type-Zeta resonant reset (AFZ) is proposed as a DMPPT architecture MIC candidate. The main characteristics of the AFZ converter are the high versatility due to its voltage step-up and step-down capability; the use of an optimized autotransformer with only two windings, reducing the complexity and power losses of this component; the good dynamic performances, like the Forward converter ones; the low number of components and the simplicity and high feasibility associated to the use of just one active switch. Besides, soft switching transitions are achieved thanks to the autotransformer type-Zeta resonant reset. The steady-state theoretical analysis, considering the effect of the autotransformer leakage inductance, is presented. The converter is also studied in the frequency domain, obtaining the small-signal transfer functions. A design procedure based on the requirements of a 100 kW grid-tied photovoltaic installation is described, yielding in a 225 W prototype with efficiencies up to 95.6 %. The mismatching phenomenon is one of the main issues in photovoltaic (PV) applications. It could reduce the generated power of a string when a PV panel has different performances from the other PV panels connected to the same string. Distributed Maximum Power Point Tracking (DMPPT) architectures are one of the most promising solutions to overcome the drawbacks associated with mismatching phenomena in PV applications. In this kind of architectures, a DC-DC module integrated converter (MIC) manages each PV panel, isolating it from the rest of the PV panels, for harvesting the maximum available power from the Sun. Due to the high number of DCDC converters used in a grid-tied PV installation, the most desired MIC requirements are high efficiency, low cost and the capability of voltage step-up and step-down. This paper proposes the Buck-Boost Modified Forward (BBMSF) converter as a good candidate to be applied in DMPPT architectures. A complete analysis of the BBMSF converter is carried out, including the steady-state analysis as well as the small signal analysis in continuous conduction mode. The main advantages of the BBMSF converter are its step-up and step-down voltage transfer function; a higher simplicity, since it only includes a single controlled switch; the soft switching characteristics in all the diodes and MOSFET, reaching in some cases ZVS and ZCS, and yielding high efficiencies; the use of an autotransformer, with better performances than a typical Forward transformer; and the good dynamic performance, like the Forward converter ones. The machinery of industrial environments was connected to the Internet years ago with the scope of increasing their performance. However, this change made such environments vulnerable against cyber-attacks that can compromise their correct functioning resulting in economic or social problems. Moreover, implementing cryptosystems in the communications between operational technology (OT) devices is a more challenging task than for information technology (IT) environments since the OT networks are generally composed of legacy elements, characterized by low-computational capabilities. Consequently, implementing cryptosystems in industrial communication networks faces a trade-off between the security of the communications and the amortization of the industrial infrastructure. Critical Infrastructure (CI) refers to the industries which provide key resources for the daily social and economical development, e.g. electricity. Furthermore, a new threat to cybersecurity has arisen with the theoretical proposal of quantum computers, due to their potential ability of breaking state-of-the-art cryptography protocols, such as RSA or ECC. Many global agents have become aware that transitioning their secure communications to a quantum secure paradigm is a priority that should be established before the arrival of fault-tolerance. In this paper, we aim to describe the problematic of implementing post-quantum cryptography (PQC) to CI environments. For doing so, we describe the requirements for these scenarios and how they differ against IT. We also introduce classical cryptography and how quantum computers pose a threat to such security protocols. Furthermore, we introduce state-of-the-art proposals of PQC protocols and present their characteristics. The structure of magnetic fields in galaxies remains poorly constrained, despite the importance of magnetism in the evolution of galaxies. Radio synchrotron and far-infrared (FIR) polarization and polarimetric observations are the best methods to measure galactic scale properties of magnetic fields in galaxies beyond the Milky Way. We use synthetic polarimetric observations of a simulated galaxy to identify and quantify the regions, scales, and interstellar medium (ISM) phases probed at FIR and radio wavelengths. Our studied suite of magnetohydrodynamical cosmological zoom-in simulations features high-resolutions (10 pc full-cell size) and multiple magnetization models. Our synthetic observations have a striking resemblance to those of observed galaxies. We find that the total and polarized radio emission extends to approximately double the altitude above the galactic disk (half-intensity disk thickness of $h_\text{I radio} \sim h_\text{PI radio} = 0.23 \pm 0.03$ kpc) relative to the total FIR and polarized emission that are concentrated in the disk midplane ($h_\text{I FIR} \sim h_\text{PI FIR} = 0.11 \pm 0.01$ kpc). Radio emission traces magnetic fields at scales of $\gtrsim 300$ pc, whereas FIR emission probes magnetic fields at the smallest scales of our simulations. These scales are comparable to our spatial resolution and well below the spatial resolution ($<300$ pc) of existing FIR polarimetric measurements. Finally, we confirm that synchrotron emission traces a combination of the warm neutral and cold neutral gas phases, whereas FIR emission follows the densest gas in the cold neutral phase in the simulation. These results are independent of the ISM magnetic field strength. We consider the long time behavior of Wong-Zakai approximations of stochastic differential equations. These piecewise smooth diffusion approximations are of great importance in many areas, such as those with ordinary differential equations associated to random smooth fluctuations; e.g. robust filtering problems. In many examples, the mean error estimate bounds that have been derived in the literature can grow exponentially with respect to the time horizon. We show in a simple example that indeed mean error estimates do explode exponentially in the time parameter, i.e. in that case a Wong-Zakai approximation is only useful for extremely short time intervals. Under spectral conditions, we present some quantitative time-uniform convergence theorems, i.e. time-uniform mean error bounds, yielding what seems to be the first results of this type for Wong-Zakai diffusion approximations.

We consider the problem of Bayesian estimation of static parameters associated to a partially and discretely observed diffusion process. We assume that the exact transition dynamics of the diffusion process are unavailable, even up-to an unbiased estimator and that one must time-discretize the diffusion process. In such scenarios it has been shown how one can introduce the multilevel Monte Carlo method to reduce the cost to compute posterior expected values of the parameters for a pre-specified mean square error (MSE). These afore-mentioned methods rely on upon the Euler-Maruyama discretization scheme which is well-known in numerical analysis to have slow convergence properties. We adapt stochastic Runge-Kutta (SRK) methods for Bayesian parameter estimation of static parameters for diffusions. This can be implemented in high-dimensions of the diffusion and seemingly under-appreciated in the uncertainty quantification and statistics fields. For a class of diffusions and SRK methods, we consider the estimation of the posterior expectation of the parameters. We prove that to achieve a MSE of $\mathcal{O}(\epsilon^2)$, for $\epsilon>0$ given, the associated work is $\mathcal{O}(\epsilon^{-2})$. Whilst the latter is achievable for the Milstein scheme, this method is often not applicable for diffusions in dimension larger than two. We also illustrate our methodology in several numerical examples.

Microacoustic wave devices are essential components in the RF electronics and MEMS industry with increasing impact in various sensing and actuation applications. Reliable and smart operation of acoustic wave devices at low costs would cause a crucial advancement. Herein, we present the enablement of temperature and mechanical sensing capabilities in a Rayleigh-mode standing surface acoustic wave (sSAW) chip device by harnessing an acoustic shear plate wave mode using the same set of electrodes. Most importantly, this mode is excited by switching the polarity of the sSAW transducer electrodes by simple electronics, allowing for direct and inexpensive compatibility with an existing setup. We validated the method in the emergent topic of surface de-icing by continuously monitoring temperature and water liquid-solid phase changes using the plate wave mode, and on-demand Rayleigh-wave deicing with a negligible energy cost. The flexibility for adapting the system to different scenarios, loads and scalability opens the path to impact in lab-on-a-chip, IoT technology, and sectors requiring autonomous acoustic wave actuators., Comment: 8 pages, 3 figures

The Sunrise Chromospheric Infrared spectroPolarimeter (SCIP) has been developed for the third flight of the SUNRISE balloon-borne stratospheric solar observatory. The aim of SCIP is to reveal the evolution of three-dimensional magnetic fields in the solar photosphere and chromosphere using spectropolarimetric measurements with a polarimetric precision of 0.03\% (1$\sigma$). Multiple lines in the 770 and 850 nm wavelength bands are simultaneously observed with two 2k$\times$2k CMOS cameras at a frame rate of 31.25 Hz. Stokes profiles are calculated onboard by accumulating the images modulated by a polarization modulation unit, and then compression processes are applied to the two-dimensional maps of the Stokes profiles. This onboard data processing effectively reduces the data rate. SCIP electronics can handle large data formats at high speed. Before the implementation into the flight SCIP electronics, a performance verification of the onboard data processing was performed with synthetic SCIP data that were produced with a numerical simulation modeling the solar atmospheres. We construct, following \cite{mpgm14,mpgm17}, a massive M2-brane (supermembrane) as the limit of a genus two M2-brane that becomes a twice punctured Riemann surface with particular boundary conditions on the fields defined on the punctures. The target space is $M_9\times LCD$, where $LCD$ is a genus one light cone diagram. It contains mass terms and a topological term associated with the non-triviality of the target surface that, at low energies, can be associated with the presence of a cosmological constant. We show that the supergravity background of the M2-brane considered in this formulation requires the presence of M9-branes acting as sources. They correspond to the 11D uplift of the characteristic D8's of Romans supergravity. To this end, we explicitly show that some of the background singularities of the massive M2-brane can be reproduced by the M9-branes found by \cite{Bergshoeff}. This establishes a relation between the Romans mass and the moduli of the massive M2-brane. When dimensionally reduced, we obtain a worldsheet Hamiltonian of a N=2 type IIA closed superstring in 10D. We denote it \textit{massive} string. The corresponding \textit{massive} string inherits a non-vanishing constant term from the topological massive M2-brane that shifts the Hamiltonian. The non-vanishing parameter is related to the non-trivial structure of the massive M2-brane background and it can be related to the Romans mass term. We present the analysis of the magnetic field ($B$-field) structure of galaxies measured with far-infrared (FIR) and radio (3 and 6 cm) polarimetric observations. We use the first data release of the Survey on extragALactic magnetiSm with SOFIA (SALSA) of 14 nearby ($<20$ Mpc) galaxies with resolved (5 arcsec-18 arcsec; $90$ pc--$1$ kpc) imaging polarimetric observations using HAWC+/SOFIA from $53$ to $214$ \um. We compute the magnetic pitch angle ($\Psi_{B}$) profiles as a function of the galactrocentric radius. We introduce a new magnetic alignment parameter ($\zeta$) to estimate the disordered-to-ordered $B$-field ratio in spiral $B$-fields. We find FIR and radio wavelengths to not generally trace the same $B$-field morphology in galaxies. The $\Psi_{B}$ profiles tend to be more ordered with galactocentric radius in radio ($\zeta_{\rm{6cm}} = 0.93\pm0.03$) than in FIR ($\zeta_{\rm{154\mu m}} = 0.84\pm0.14$). For spiral galaxies, FIR $B$-fields are $2-75$\% more turbulent than the radio $B$-fields. For starburst galaxies, we find that FIR polarization is a better tracer of the $B$-fields along the galactic outflows than radio polarization. Our results suggest that the $B$-fields associated with dense, dusty, turbulent star-forming regions, those traced at FIR, are less ordered than warmer, less-dense regions, those traced at radio, of the interstellar medium. The FIR $B$-fields seem to be more sensitive to the activity of the star-forming regions and the morphology of the molecular clouds within a vertical height of few hundred pc in the disk of spiral galaxies than the radio $B$-fields., Comment: 28 pages, 14 figures. As language models grow ever larger, the need for large-scale high-quality text datasets has never been more pressing, especially in multilingual settings. The BigScience workshop, a 1-year international and multidisciplinary initiative, was formed with the goal of researching and training large language models as a values-driven undertaking, putting issues of ethics, harm, and governance in the foreground. This paper documents the data creation and curation efforts undertaken by BigScience to assemble the Responsible Open-science Open-collaboration Text Sources (ROOTS) corpus, a 1.6TB dataset spanning 59 languages that was used to train the 176-billion-parameter BigScience Large Open-science Open-access Multilingual (BLOOM) language model. In this paper we obtain a family of analytic solutions to the nonlinear partial differential equations that describe the dynamics of the bosonic part of the mass operator of a M2-brane compactified on $M_9\times T^2$ in the LCG with worldvolume fluxes. Those fluxes can be induced by a constant and quantized supergravity 3-form. This sector of the theory, at supersymmetric level, has the interesting property of having a discrete spectrum. We have focused on the characterization of Q-ball-like (QBL) solitons on the M2-brane with worldvolume fluxes. Two scenarios are analysed: one in which the system is isotropic and the other anisotropic. In the isotropic case, we obtain analytic families of string-like solutions to the membrane equations of motion in the presence of a non-vanishing symplectic gauge field that satisfy all constraints. We explicitly show a localised family of QBL solutions. It is demonstrated that although the solutions generally exhibit dispersion, they also allow for dispersion-free solutions. In the non-isotropic case, we obtain full-fledged membrane QBL solutions by numerical methods. We characterize some other properties of the solutions found. The dynamics of the QBL solutions are also encountered. We analyze the Lorentz boosts and Galilean transformations. Since we work in the Light Cone Gauge, the Lorentz transformed solutions are not automatically solutions, rather some extra conditions must be imposed. Only a subset of the solutions remain. We discuss some examples. The QBL solitons of the M2-brane that have been discovered contain an interaction term between the Noether charge of the Q-ball and the topological monopole charge associated with the worldvolume flux. The stability analysis of possibly time varying positive semigroups on non necessarily compact state spaces, including Neumann and Dirichlet boundary conditions is a notoriously difficult subject. These crucial questions arise in a variety of areas of applied mathematics, including nonlinear filtering, rare event analysis, branching processes, physics and molecular chemistry. This article presents an overview of some recent Lyapunov-based approaches, focusing principally on practical and powerful tools for designing Lyapunov functions. These techniques include semigroup comparisons as well as conjugacy principles on non necessarily bounded manifolds with locally Lipschitz boundaries. All the Lyapunov methodologies discussed in the article are illustrated in a variety of situations, ranging from conventional Markov semigroups on general state spaces to more sophisticated conditional stochastic processes possibly restricted to some non necessarily bounded domains, including locally Lipschitz and smooth hypersurface boundaries, Langevin diffusions as well as coupled harmonic oscillators.

In this paper, we obtain the explicit expression of the supersymmetric algebra associated with the recently proposed massive supermembrane including all surface terms. We formulate the theory as the limit of a supermembrane on a genus-two compact Riemann surface when one of the handles becomes a string attached to a torus. The formulation reduces to a supermembrane on a punctured torus with a "string spike" (in the sense of \cite{dwln}), attached to it. In this limit, we identify all surface terms of the algebra and give the explicit expression of the Hamiltonian in agreement with the previous formulation of it. The symmetry under area preserving diffeomorphisms, connected and nonconnected to the identity, is also discussed. Large language models (LLMs) have been shown to be able to perform new tasks based on a few demonstrations or natural language instructions. While these capabilities have led to widespread adoption, most LLMs are developed by resource-rich organizations and are frequently kept from the public. As a step towards democratizing this powerful technology, we present BLOOM, a 176B-parameter open-access language model designed and built thanks to a collaboration of hundreds of researchers. BLOOM is a decoder-only Transformer language model that was trained on the ROOTS corpus, a dataset comprising hundreds of sources in 46 natural and 13 programming languages (59 in total). We find that BLOOM achieves competitive performance on a wide variety of benchmarks, with stronger results after undergoing multitask prompted finetuning. To facilitate future research and applications using LLMs, we publicly release our models and code under the Responsible AI License.
