We present a study of a previously identified candidate ``jellyfish'' galaxy in the Abell 2744 cluster, F0083, which showed faint signs of a tidal interaction in archival imaging. We used publicly available, PSF-matched deep photometric data from the Hubble and James Webb Space Telescopes, to infer the spatially-resolved star-formation history of this galaxy. F0083 shows clear signs of ram-pressure stripping (RPS), with a recently enhanced star-formation rate (SFR) orientated towards the South-West quadrant of the stellar disc. The stellar mass surface density is heavily asymmetric, with a variation of nearly 1 dex between the Western spiral arm and the postulated tidal feature. This feature appears to contain a high proportion of older stars, ruling out RPS as the cause of this ``unwinding''. An investigation of nearby galaxies reveals the most probable interaction candidate to be a compact elliptical galaxy, 28171, of mass $\log_{10}(M_*/\rm{M}_{\odot})=8.53\pm0.04$ embedded in the tidal stream along our line-of-sight. The star-formation history of the tidal feature indicates a steep change in SFR at lookback times $t_L\lesssim1\,$Gyr. The most probable formation scenario of F0083 thus indicates a low-speed interaction with 28171, followed by RPS as the combined system approaches pericentre passage. Star-formation rates (SFR) in galaxies offer a view of various physical processes across them and are measured using various tracers, such as H$\alpha$ and UV. Different physical mechanisms can affect H$\alpha$ and UV emission, resulting in a discrepancy in the corresponding SFR estimates ($\Delta SFR$). We investigate the effects of ram pressure on the SFR measurements and $\Delta SFR$ across 5 galaxies from the GASP survey caught in the late stages of gas stripping due to ram pressure. We probe spatially resolved $\Delta SFR$ at pixel scales of 0.5 kpc, and compare disks to tails, and regions dominated by the dense gas to diffuse ionized gas (DIG) regions. The regions dominated by dense gas show similar SFR values for UV and H$\alpha$ tracers, while the regions dominated by the DIG show up to 0.5 dex higher SFR(UV). There is a large galaxy-by-galaxy variation in $\Delta SFR$, with no difference between the disks and the tails. We discuss the potential causes of variations in $\Delta SFR$ between the dense gas and DIG areas. We conclude that the dominant cause of discrepancy is recent variations in star formation histories, where star formation recently dropped in the DIG-dominated regions leading to changes in $\Delta SFR$. The areal coverage of the tracers shows areas with H$\alpha$ and no UV emission; these areas have LINER-like emission (excess in $[OI\lambda\,6300]/H\alpha$ line ratio), indicating that they are ionized by processes other than star-formation., Comment: 18 pages, 9 figures, 3 tables

The Southern Photometric Local Universe Survey (S-PLUS) is a project to map $\sim9300$ sq deg of the sky using twelve bands (seven narrow and five broadbands). Observations are performed with the T80-South telescope, a robotic telescope located at the Cerro Tololo Observatory in Chile. The survey footprint consists of several large contiguous areas, including fields at high and low galactic latitudes, and towards the Magellanic Clouds. S-PLUS uses fixed exposure times to reach point source depths of about $21$ mag in the $griz$ and $20$ mag in the $u$ and the narrow filters. This paper describes the S-PLUS Data Release 4 (DR4), which includes calibrated images and derived catalogues for over 3000 sq deg, covering the aforementioned area. The catalogues provide multi-band photometry performed with the tools \texttt{DoPHOT} and \texttt{SExtractor} -- point spread function (\PSF) and aperture photometry, respectively. In addition to the characterization, we also present the scientific potential of the data. We use statistical tools to present and compare the photometry obtained through different methods. Overall we find good agreement between the different methods, with a slight systematic offset of 0.05\,mag between our \PSF and aperture photometry. We show that the astrometry accuracy is equivalent to that obtained in previous S-PLUS data releases, even in very crowded fields where photometric extraction is challenging. The depths of main survey (MS) photometry for a minimum signal-to-noise ratio $S/N = 3$ reach from $\sim19.5$ for the bluer bands to $\sim21.5$ mag on the red. The range of magnitudes over which accurate \PSF photometry is obtained is shallower, reaching $\sim19$ to $\sim20.5$ mag depending on the filter. This paper presents the first public data release of the S-PLUS Ultra-Short Survey (USS), a photometric survey with short exposure times, covering approximately 9300 deg$^{2}$ of the Southern sky. The USS utilizes the Javalambre 12-band magnitude system, including narrow and medium-band and broad-band filters targeting prominent stellar spectral features. The primary objective of the USS is to identify bright, extremely metal-poor (EMP; [Fe/H] $\leq -3$) and ultra metal-poor (UMP; [Fe/H] $\leq -4$) stars for further analysis using medium- and high-resolution spectroscopy.}{This paper provides an overview of the survey observations, calibration method, data quality, and data products. Additionally, it presents the selection of EMP and UMP candidates.}{The data from the USS were reduced and calibrated using the same methods as presented in the S-PLUS DR2. An additional step was introduced, accounting for the offset between the observed magnitudes off the USS and the predicted magnitudes from the very low-resolution Gaia XP spectra.}{This first release contains data for 163 observed fields totaling $\sim$324 deg$^{2}$ along the Celestial Equator. The magnitudes obtained from the USS are well-calibrated, showing a difference of $\sim 15$ mmag compared to the predicted magnitudes by the GaiaXPy toolkit. The main sequence (MS) of star-forming galaxies (SFGs) is the tight relation between the galaxy stellar mass and its star formation rate (SFR) and was observed up to z ~ 6. The MS relation can be used as a reference for understanding the differences among galaxies, characterised by different rates of stellar production (starbursts, SFGs, and passive galaxies), and those inside a galaxy made up of different components (bulge, disk, and halo). To investigate peculiar features found in our sample galaxies, we focus here on their star formation history (SFH). We performed a spectral energy distribution fitting procedure that accounted for the energetic balance between UV and far-IR radiation on a sample of eight nearby face-on spiral galaxies from the DustPedia sample. This approach allowed us to study the spatially resolved MS of the sample and to recover the past SFH. By exploiting the BAGPIPES code, we constrained the SFHs for each galaxy with a delayed exponentially declining model to derive their mass-weighted age (tMW). A central old region (tMW up to~7Gyr, consistent with the presence of a bulge for various systems) is followed by younger regions in which the disks are still forming stars (tMW~4Gyr). At larger distances, tMW increases mildly in general. Strikingly, in two galaxies (NGC4321 and NGC5194), we found a steep increase in tMW that reached levels similar to those of the bulge. These old stellar populations in the very galaxy outskirts are unexpected. We discuss their potential origin by considering the different gas phases of the source with the most prominent quenched ring, NGC4321, and argue for two main possibilities: 1) some environmental effect (e.g. starvation) or 2) the circumgalactic medium of sources outside of high-density clusters might have stopped to supply pristine gas to the galaxy (e.g. if its specific angular moment is too high for being accreted)., Comment: Accepted for publication on Astronomy and Astrophysics

Extraplanar tails of ionized stripped gas, extending up to several tens of kiloparsecs beyond the stellar disk, are often observed in ram-pressure stripped (RPS) galaxies in low redshift clusters. Recent studies have identified similar tails also at high redshift and we here present the first analysis of the chemical composition of such tails beyond the local universe. Specifically, we examine the distribution of ionized gas metallicity of RPS galaxies in the Abell 2744 (z=0.308) and Abell 370 (z=0.375) clusters observed as part of the MUSE-GTO program. We investigate spatially-resolved and global metallicities in galactic disks and stripped tails, utilizing both a theoretical calibration through a photoionization model and an empirical calibration. The metallicity gradients and the spatially resolved mass-metallicity relations indicate that the metallicity in the tails reaches up to $\sim 0.6$dex lower values than anywhere in the parent disks, with a few exceptions. Both disks and tails follow a global mass-metallicity relation, though the tail metallicity is systematically lower than the one of the corresponding disk by up to $\sim 0.2$ dex. These findings demonstrate that additional processes are at play in the tails, and are consistent with a scenario of progressive dilution of metallicity along the tails due to the mixing of intracluster medium and interstellar gas, in accord with previous low-z results. In principle, the same scenario can also explain the flat or positive metallicity gradients observed in low-mass RPS galaxies, as in these galaxies the interstellar medium's metallicity can approach the metallicity levels found in the intracluster medium., Comment: Accepted for publication in A&A Journal

Using images collected with the WFC3 camera on board of the Hubble Space Telescope, we detect stellar clumps in continuum-subtracted $H\alpha$ and ultraviolet (F275W filter), such clumps are often embedded in larger regions (star-forming complexes) detected in the optical (F606W filter). We model the photometry of these objects using BAGPIPES to obtain their stellar population parameters. The median mass-weighted stellar ages are 27 Myr for $H\alpha$ clumps and 39 Myr for F275W clumps and star-forming complexes, the oldest stars in the complexes can be older than $\sim$300 Myr which indicates that star-formation is sustained for long periods of time. Stellar masses vary from 10$^{3.5}$ to 10$^{7.1}$ $M_\odot$, with star-forming complexes being more massive objects in the sample. Clumps and complexes found further away from the host galaxy are younger, less massive and less obscured by dust. We interpret these trends as due to the effect of ram-pressure in different phases of the interstellar medium. $H\alpha$ clumps form a well-defined sequence in the stellar mass--SFR plane with slope 0.73. Some F275W clumps and star-forming complexes follow the same sequence while others stray away from it and passively age. The difference in stellar age between a complex and its youngest embedded clump scales with the distance between the clump and the center of the complex, with the most displaced clumps being hosted by the most elongated complexes. This is consistent with a fireball-like morphology, where star-formation proceeds in a small portion of the complex while older stars are left behind producing a linear stellar population gradient. The stellar masses of star-forming complexes are consistent with the ones of globular clusters, but stellar mass surface densities are lower by 2 dex, and their properties are more consistent with the population of dwarf galaxies in clusters., Comment: Accepted for publication in A&A

Ram pressure stripping (RPS) is one of the most invoked mechanisms to explain the observed differences between cluster and field galaxies. In the local Universe, its effect on the galaxy star forming properties has been largely tackled and the general consensus is that this process first compresses the gas available in the galaxy disks, boosting the star formation for a limited amount of time, and then removes the remaining gas leading to quenching. Much less is known on the effect and preponderance of RPS at higher redshift, due to the lack of statistical samples. Exploiting VLT/MUSE observations of galaxies at 0.23sigma when considering the SFR occurring in both the tail and disk of galaxies. The enhancement is retrieved also on local scales: considering spatially resolved data, ram pressure stripped galaxies overall have large {\Sigma}SFR values, especially for Sigma_*>10^7.5M_sun kpc~2. RPS seems to leave the same imprint on the SFR-M* and Sigma_SFR-Sigma_* relations both in the Local Universe and at z~0.35., Comment: A&A in press

We characterize the morphological properties of a statistically relevant sample of H$\alpha$ and UV young star-forming clumps and optical complexes, observed with the \textit{Hubble Space Telescope} in six galaxies of the GASP sample undergoing ram-pressure stripping. The catalogs comprise 2406 (323 in the tails) H$\alpha$ clumps, 3750 (899) UV clumps and 424 tail optical complexes. About 15-20\% of the clumps and 50\% of the complexes are resolved in size. We find that more than half of the complexes contain no H$\alpha$ clumps, while most of them contain at least one UV clump. The clump number and size increase with the complex size, while the median complex filling factor is larger for UV clumps ($0.27$) than for H$\alpha$ clumps ($0.10$) and does not correlate with almost any morphological property. This suggests that the clumps number and size grow with the complex keeping the filling factor constant. When studying the position of the clumps inside their complexes, H$\alpha$ clumps, and UV clumps to a lesser extent, show a displacement from the complex center of $0.1-1$ kpc and, in $\sim 60$\% of the cases, they are displaced away from the galactic disk. This is in accordance with the fireball configuration, already observed in the tails of stripped galaxies. Finally, the filling factor and the clump radius increase with the distance from the galactic disk, suggesting that the reciprocal displacement of the different stellar generations increases as a consequence of the velocity gradient caused by ram pressure., Comment: 20 pages, 14 figures, 2 tables. We present tests of a new method to simultaneously estimate stellar population and emission line (EL) properties of galaxies out of S-PLUS photometry. The technique uses the AlStar code, updated with an empirical prior which greatly improves its ability to estimate ELs using only the survey's 12 bands. The tests compare the output of (noise-perturbed) synthetic photometry of SDSS galaxies to properties derived from previous full spectral fitting and detailed EL analysis. For realistic signal-to-noise ratios, stellar population properties are recovered to better than 0.2 dex in masses, mean ages, metallicities and $\pm 0.2$ mag for the extinction. More importantly, ELs are recovered remarkably well for a photometric survey. We obtain input $-$ output dispersions of 0.05--0.2 dex for the equivalent widths of $[\mathrm{O}\,\rm{II}]$, $[\mathrm{O}\,\rm{III}]$, H$\beta$, H$\alpha$, $[\mathrm{N}\,\rm{II}]$, and $[\mathrm{S}\,\rm{II}]$, and even better for lines stronger than $\sim 5$ $\mathring{A}$. These excellent results are achieved by combining two empirical facts into a prior which restricts the EL space available for the fits: (1) Because, for the redshifts explored here, H$\alpha$ and $[\mathrm{N}\,\rm{II}]$ fall in a single narrow band (J0660), their combined equivalent width is always well recovered, even when $[\mathrm{N}\,\rm{II}]$/H$\alpha$ is not. (2) We know from SDSS that $W_{H\alpha+[\mathrm{N}\,\rm{II}]}$ correlates with $[\mathrm{N}\,\rm{II}]$/H$\alpha$, which can be used to tell if a galaxy belongs to the left or right wings in the classical BPT diagnostic diagram. We investigate how the ageing of stellar populations can drive a morphological transformation in galaxies whose star formation (SF) activity has been quenched on short timescales, like in cluster galaxies subject to ram pressure stripping from the intracluster medium. For this purpose, we use a sample of 91 galaxies with MUSE data from the GASP program and of their spatially resolved SF history derived with the spectral modelling software SINOPSIS. We simulate the future continuation of the SF activities by exploring two quenching scenarios: an instantaneous truncation of the SF across the whole disc, and an outside-in quenching with typical stripping timescales of 0.5 Gyr and 1 Gyr. For each scenario we produce mock MUSE spectroscopic datacubes and optical images for our galaxies during their evolution, and classify their morphology using a new diagnostic tool, calibrated on cluster galaxies from the OmegaWINGS Survey. We find that, in all scenarios considered, the initial galaxy population dominated by blue-cloud spirals (90%) evolves into a mixed population mostly composed by red-sequence spirals (50-55%) and lenticulars (~40%). The morphology transformation is completed after just 1.5-3.5 Gyr, proceeding faster in more efficient quenching scenarios. Our results indicate that, even without accounting for dynamical processes, SF quenching caused by the harsh environment of a cluster can significantly affect the morphology of the infalling galaxy population on timescales of a few Gyr., Comment: 19 pages, 11 figures, accepted for publication in MNRAS

Exploiting broad- and narrow-band images of the Hubble Space Telescope from the near-UV to I-band rest frame, we study the star-forming clumps of six galaxies of the GASP sample undergoing strong ram pressure stripping. Clumps are detected in H alpha and near-UV, tracing star formation on different timescales. We consider clumps located in galaxy disks and stripped tails and formed in stripped gas but still close to the disk, called extraplanar. We detect 2406 H alpha-selected clumps (1708 in disks, 375 in extraplanar regions, and 323 in tails) and 3745 UV-selected clumps (2021 disk, 825 extraplanar, and 899 tail clumps). Only 15 per cent of star-forming clumps are spatially resolved, meaning that most are smaller than 140 pc. We study the luminosity and size distribution functions (LDFs and SDFs, respectively) and the luminosity-size relation. The average LDF slope is 1.79 +/- 0.09, while the average SDF slope is 3.1 +/- 0.5. The results suggest that the star formation is turbulence-driven and scale-free, as in main-sequence alaxies. All of the clumps, whether they are in the disks or tails, have an enhanced H alpha luminosity at a given size, compared to the clumps in main-sequence galaxies. Indeed, their H alpha luminosity is closer to that of clumps in starburst galaxies, indicating that ram pressure is able to enhance the luminosity. No striking differences are found among disk and tail clumps, suggesting that the different environments in which they are embedded play a minor role in influencing the star formation., Comment: 34 pages, 18 figures, 10 tables. Star-forming, H$\alpha$-emitting clumps are found embedded in the gaseous tails of galaxies undergoing intense ram-pressure stripping in galaxy clusters, so-called jellyfish galaxies. These clumps offer a unique opportunity to study star formation under extreme conditions, in the absence of an underlying disk and embedded within the hot intracluster medium. Yet, a comprehensive, high spatial resolution study of these systems is missing. We obtained UVIS/HST data to observe the first statistical sample of clumps in the tails and disks of six jellyfish galaxies from the GASP survey; we used a combination of broad-band filters and a narrow-band H{\alpha} filter. HST observations are needed to study the sizes, stellar masses and ages of the clumps and their clustering hierarchy. These observations will be used to study the clump scaling relations, the universality of the star formation process and verify whether a disk is irrelevant, as hinted by jellyfish galaxy results. This paper presents the observations, data reduction strategy, and some general results based on the preliminary data analysis: the UVIS high spatial resolution gives an unprecedented sharp view of the complex structure of the inner regions of the galaxies and of the substructures in the galaxy disks; we found clear signatures of stripping in regions very close in projection to the galactic disk; the star-forming regions in the stripped tails are extremely bright and compact while we did not detect a significant number of star-forming clumps outside those detected by MUSE. Cluster galaxies are subject to the ram pressure exerted by the intracluster medium, which can perturb or even strip away their gas while leaving the stars undisturbed. We model the distribution and kinematics of the stars and the molecular gas in four late-type cluster galaxies (JO201, JO204, JO206, and JW100), which show tails of atomic and ionized gas indicative of ongoing ram pressure stripping. We analyze MUSE@VLT data and CO data from ALMA searching for signatures of radial gas flows, ram pressure stripping, and other perturbations. We find that all galaxies, with the possible exception of JW100, host stellar bars. Signatures of ram pressure are found in JO201 and JO206, which also shows clear indications of ongoing stripping in the molecular disk outskirts. The stripping affects the whole molecular gas disk of JW100. The molecular gas kinematics in JO204 is instead dominated by rotation rather than ram pressure. We also find indications of enhanced turbulence of the molecular gas compared to field galaxies. Large-scale radial flows of molecular gas are present in JO204 and JW100, but more uncertain in JO201 and JO206. We show that our sample follows the molecular gas mass-size relation, confirming that it is essentially independent of environment even for the most extreme cases of stripping. Our findings are consistent with the molecular gas being affected by the ram pressure on different timescales and less severely than the atomic and ionized gas phases, likely because the molecular gas is denser and more gravitationally bound to the galaxy., Comment: 29 pages, 14 figures, accepted by ApJ

We present a study of the orbits, environments and morphologies of 13 ram-pressure stripped galaxies in the massive, intermediate redshift (z$\sim0.3-0.4$) galaxy clusters A2744 and A370, using MUSE integral-field spectroscopy and HST imaging from the Frontier Fields Program. We compare different measures of the locations and morphologies of the stripped sample with a sample of 6 poststarburst galaxies identified within the same clusters, as well as the general cluster population. We calculate the phase space locations of all cluster galaxies and carry out a substructure analysis, finding that the ram-pressure stripped galaxies in A370 are not associated with any substructures, but are likely isolated infalling galaxies. In contrast, the ram-pressure stripped galaxies in A2744 are strictly located within a high-velocity substructure, moving through a region of dense X-ray emitting gas. We conclude that their ram-pressure interactions are likely to be the direct result of the merger between two components of the cluster. Finally, we study the morphologies of the stripped and poststarburst galaxies, using numerical measures to quantify the level of visual disturbances. We explore any morphological deviations of these galaxies from the cluster population, particularly the weaker cases which have been confirmed via the presence of ionised gas tails to be undergoing ram-pressure stripping, but are not strongly visually disturbed in the broad-band data. We find that the stripped sample galaxies are generally divergent from the general cluster sample, with poststarburst galaxies being intermediary in morphology between stripped galaxies and red passive cluster members., Comment: 27 pages, 17 figures

We present results from MUSE spatially-resolved spectroscopy of 21 post-starburst galaxies in the centers of 8 clusters from $z\sim0.3$ to $z\sim0.4$. We measure spatially resolved star-formation histories (SFHs), the time since quenching ($t_Q$) and the fraction of stellar mass assembled in the past 1.5 Gyr ($\mu_{1.5}$). The SFHs display a clear enhancement of star-formation prior to quenching for 16 out of 21 objects, with at least 10% (and up to $>50$%) of the stellar mass being assembled in the past 1.5 Gyr and $t_Q$ ranging from less than 100 Myrs to $\sim800$ Myrs. By mapping $t_Q$ and $\mu_{1.5}$, we analyze the quenching patterns of the galaxies. Most galaxies in our sample have quenched their star-formation from the outside-in or show a side-to-side/irregular pattern, both consistent with quenching by ram-pressure stripping. Only three objects show an inside-out quenching pattern, all of which are at the high-mass end of our sample. At least two of them currently host an active galactic nucleus. In two post-starbursts, we identify tails of ionized gas indicating that these objects had their gas stripped by ram pressure very recently. Post-starburst features are also found in the stripped regions of galaxies undergoing ram-pressure stripping in the same clusters, confirming the link between these classes of objects. Our results point to ram-pressure stripping as the main driver of fast quenching in these environments, with active galactic nuclei playing a role at high stellar masses., Comment: Accepted for publication in ApJ

Ram pressure stripping has been proven to be effective in shaping galaxy properties in dense environments at low redshift. The availability of MUSE observations of a sample of distant (z$\sim 0.3-0.5$) clusters has allowed to search for galaxies subject to this phenomenon at significant lookback times. In this paper we describe how we discovered and characterized 13 ram-pressure stripped galaxies in the central regions of two intermediate redshift (z$\sim$0.3-0.4) clusters, A2744 and A370, using the MUSE spectrograph. Emission line properties as well as stellar features have been analyzed to infer the presence of this gas--only stripping mechanism, that produces spectacular ionized gas tails (H$_{\alpha}$ and even more astonishing [OII](3727,3729) departing from the main galaxy body. The inner regions of these two clusters reveal the predominance of such galaxies among blue star-forming cluster members, suggesting that ram-pressure stripping was even more effective at intermediate redshift than in today's Universe. Interestingly, the resolved [OII]/H$_{\alpha}$ line ratio in the stripped tails is exceptionally high compared to that in the disks of these galaxies, (which is comparable to that in normal low-z galaxies), suggesting lower gas densities and/or an interaction with the hot surrounding ICM., Comment: Accepted for publication on ApJ

Ram pressure stripping is a crucial evolutionary driver for cluster galaxies. It is thought to be able to accelerate the evolution of their star formation, trigger the activity of their central active galactic nucleus (AGN) and the interplay between the galactic and environmental gas, and eventually dissipate their gas reservoir. We explored the outcomes of ram pressure stripping by studying the non-thermal radio emission of the jellyfish galaxy JW100 in the cluster Abell 2626 ($z=0.055$) by combining LOFAR, MeerKAT, and VLA observations from 0.144 to 5.5 GHz. We studied the integrated spectra of the stellar disk, the stripped tail and the AGN, mapped the spectral index over the galaxy, and constrained the magnetic field intensity to be between 11 and 18 $\mu$G in the disk and $<10$ $\mu$G in the tail. The stellar disk radio emission is dominated by a radiatively old plasma, likely related to an older phase of high star formation rate. This suggests that the star formation was quickly quenched by a factor of 4 in a few $10^7$ yr. The radio emission in the tail is consistent with the stripping scenario, where the radio plasma originally accelerated in the disk is then displaced in the tail. The morphology of the radio and X-ray emissions supports the scenario of accretion of the magnetized environmental plasma onto the galaxy. The diffuse ionized gas (DIG) is an important component of the interstellar medium that can provide insights into the different physical processes affecting the gas in galaxies. We utilise optical IFU observations of 71 gas-stripped and control galaxies from the Gas Stripping Phenomena in galaxies (GASP) survey, to analyze the gas properties of the dense ionized gas and the DIG, such as metallicity, ionization parameter log(q), and the difference between the measured $\log[OI]/H\alpha$ and the value predicted by star-forming models, given the measured log[OIII]/H$\beta$ ($\Delta log[OI]/H\alpha$). We compare these properties at different spatial scales, among galaxies at different gas-stripping stages, and between disks and tails of the stripped galaxies. The metallicity is similar between the dense gas and DIG at a given galactocentric radius. The log(q) is lower for DIG compared to dense gas. The median values of log(q) correlate best with stellar mass, and the most massive galaxies show an increase in log(q) toward their galactic centers. The DIG clearly shows higher $\Delta log[OI]/H\alpha$ values compared to the dense gas, with much of the spaxels having LIER/LINER like emission. The DIG regions in the tails of highly stripped galaxies show the highest $\Delta log[OI]/H\alpha$, exhibit high values of log(q) and extend to large projected distances from star-forming areas (up to 10 kpc). The assessment and treatment of motor symptoms such as tremor in Parkinson's disease depends exclusively on the physician's visual observation of standardised movements (i.e. motor tasks). Wearable sensors such as accelerometers are able to detect some manifestations of these pathological signs in movement disorders. Sensor data from motor tasks, however, must be processed sequentially with annotated data from clinical experts. Hence, we designed TreCap, a custom-built wearable device with new software to capture and evaluate motor symptoms such as tremor in real time. Inertial sensor data is systematically processed, stored and tailored to each motor task by this software, including annotated data from clinical rating scores and deep brain stimulation parameters. For prototype testing, the wearable device was validated in a pilot study on subjects with physiological hand tremor. The processed data sets are suitable for machine learning to classify motor tasks. Results on healthy subjects demonstrate an accuracy of 95% with support vector machine algorithms. TreCap software is expandable and allows full access to the configuration of all sensors via Bluetooth. This paper provides a catalogue of stars, quasars, and galaxies for the Southern Photometric Local Universe Survey Data Release 2 (S-PLUS DR2) in the Stripe 82 region. We show that a 12-band filter system (5 Sloan-like and 7 narrow bands) allows better performance for object classification than the usual analysis based solely on broad bands (regardless of infrared information). Moreover, we show that our classification is robust against missing values. Using spectroscopically confirmed sources retrieved from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey DR16 and DR14Q, we train a random forest classifier with the 12 S-PLUS magnitudes + 4 morphological features. A second random forest classifier is trained with the addition of the W1 (3.4 $\mu$m) and W2 (4.6 $\mu$m) magnitudes from the Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer (WISE). Forty-four percent of our catalogue have WISE counterparts and are provided with classification from both models. We achieve 95.76% (52.47%) of quasar purity, 95.88% (92.24%) of quasar completeness, 99.44% (98.17%) of star purity, 98.22% (78.56%) of star completeness, 98.04% (81.39%) of galaxy purity, and 98.8% (85.37%) of galaxy completeness for the first (second) classifier, for which the metrics were calculated on objects with (without) WISE counterpart. A total of 2,926,787 objects that are not in our spectroscopic sample were labelled, obtaining 335,956 quasars, 1,347,340 stars, and 1,243,391 galaxies. From those, 7.4%, 76.0%, and 58.4% were classified with probabilities above 80%. The laser-driven generation of relativistic electron beams in plasma and their acceleration to high energies with GV/m-gradients has been successfully demonstrated. Now, it is time to focus on the application of laser-plasma accelerated (LPA) beams. The "Accelerator Technology HElmholtz iNfrAstructure" (ATHENA) of the Helmholtz Association fosters innovative particle accelerators and high-power laser technology. As part of the ATHENAe pillar several different applications driven by LPAs are to be developed, such as a compact FEL, medical imaging and the first realization of LPA-beam injection into a storage ring. The latter endeavour is conducted in close collaboration between Deutsches Elektronen-Synchrotron (DESY), Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) and Helmholtz Institute Jena (HIJ). In the cSTART project at KIT, a compact storage ring optimized for short bunches and suitable to accept LPA-based electron bunches is in preparation. In this conference contribution we will introduce the 50 MeV LPA-based injector and give an overview about the project goals. The key parameters of the plasma injector will be presented. Finally, the current status of the project will be summarized.

Galaxies inhabit a wide range of environments and therefore are affected by different physical mechanisms. Spatially resolved maps combined with the knowledge of the hosting environment are very powerful to classify galaxies by physical process. In the context of the GAs Stripping Phenomena in galaxies (GASP), we present a study of 27 non-cluster galaxies: 24 of them were selected for showing asymmetries and disturbances in the optical morphology, suggestive of gas stripping, three of them are passive galaxies and were included to characterize the final stages of galaxy evolution. We therefore provide a panorama of the different processes taking place in low-density environments. The analysis of VLT/MUSE data allows us to separate galaxies into the following categories: Galaxy-galaxy interactions (2 galaxies), mergers (6), ram pressure stripping (4), cosmic web stripping (2), cosmic web enhancement (5), gas accretion (3), starvation (3). In one galaxy we identify the combination of merger and ram pressure stripping. Only 6/27 of these galaxies have just a tentative classification. We then investigate where these galaxies are located on scaling relations determined for a sample of undisturbed galaxies. Our analysis shows the successes and limitations of a visual optical selection in identifying the processes that deplete galaxies of their gas content and probes the power of IFU data in pinning down the acting mechanism., Comment: ApJ in press

The Southern Photometric Local Universe Survey (S-PLUS) is an ongoing survey of $\sim$9300 deg$^2$ in the southern sky in a 12-band photometric system. This paper presents the second data release (DR2) of S-PLUS, consisting of 514 tiles covering an area of 950 deg$^2$. The data has been fully calibrated using a new photometric calibration technique suitable for the new generation of wide-field multi-filter surveys. This technique consists of a $\chi^2$ minimisation to fit synthetic stellar templates to already calibrated data from other surveys, eliminating the need for standard stars and reducing the survey duration by $\sim$15\%. We compare the template-predicted and S-PLUS instrumental magnitudes to derive the photometric zero-points (ZPs). We show that these ZPs can be further refined by fitting the stellar templates to the 12 S-PLUS magnitudes, which better constrain the models by adding the narrow-band information. We use the STRIPE82 region to estimate ZP errors, which are $\lesssim10$ mmags for filters J0410, J0430, $g$, J0515, $r$, J0660, $i$, J0861 and $z$; $\lesssim 15$ mmags for filter J0378; and $\lesssim 25$ mmags for filters $u$ and J0395. We describe the complete data flow of the S-PLUS/DR2 from observations to the final catalogues and present a brief characterisation of the data. We show that, for a minimum signal-to-noise threshold of 3, the photometric depths of the DR2 range from 19.9 mag to 21.3 mag (measured in Petrosian apertures), depending on the filter. A detailed study of the morphology of lenticular galaxies is an important way to understand how this type of galaxy formed and evolves over time. Decomposing a galaxy into its components (disc, bulge, bar, ...) allows recovering the colour gradients present in each system, its star formation history, and its assembly history. We use GALFITM to perform a multi-wavelength structural decomposition of the closest lenticular galaxy, NGC 3115, resulting in the description of its stellar light into several main components: a bulge, a thin disc, a thick disc and also evidence of a bar. We report the finding of central bluer stellar populations in the bulge, as compared to the colour of the galaxy outskirts, indicating either the presence of an Active Galactic Nucleus (AGN) and/or recent star formation activity. From the spectral energy distribution results, we show that the galaxy has a low luminosity AGN component, but even excluding the effect of the nuclear activity, the bulge is still bluer than the outer-regions of the galaxy, revealing a recent episode of star formation. Based on all of the derived properties, we propose a scenario for the formation of NGC 3115 consisting of an initial gas-rich merger, followed by accretions and feedback that quench the galaxy, until a recent encounter with the companion KK084 that reignited the star formation in the bulge, provoked a core displacement in NGC 3115 and generated spiral-like features.
