Background: This study aims to evaluate the relationship between volumetric measurements of residual tumor via magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and pathologic complete response (pCR) in rectal cancer patients undergoing neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy (nCRT). Methods: Patients with locally advanced rectal cancer who had pelvic MRI for clinical staging and completed nCRT followed by radical resection were included. Two experienced radiologists measured tumor volume on MRI obtained before and after nCRT. We compared the pre- and post-CRT tumor volume and measured tumor volume reduction rates. Results: The median value of tumor volume reduction rate in all patients was 64.7% (min–max − 81.1–98.1%). When the relationship between tumor volume and tumor regression grade (TRG) after nCRT was assessed, it was found that 18 of 21 (86%) patients with a good response (TRG 1) had a post-CRT tumor volume of ≤ 8 cm3 (p = 0.001). While 9 of 10 patients with pCR after nCRT had a tumor volume of ≤ 8 cm3, one patient had pCR despite having a tumor volume greater than 8 cm3 (p = 0.015). Conclusion: The correlation between post-nCRT residual tumor volume and pCR underscores the potential of volumetric MRI as a predictive tool in tailoring rectal cancer treatment. For patients with residual tumor volumes greater than 8 cm3, extending neoadjuvant chemotherapy as part of TNT may enhance the likelihood of achieving pCR. Objectives: Pan-immune-inflammation value (PIV) score has been started to be used as a prognostic tool in cancer patients trendly in recent years. In this study, we aimed to evaluate the PIV score in patients with pathologically-proven intermediate-high risk gastric GIST to guide adjuvant therapy and to get better prognosis. Methods: Patients followed up by Medical Oncology clinic with a diagnosis of gastric GIST were evaluated retrospectively. Results: A total of 41 patients with a diagnosis of gastric GIST were examined. When the tumors were analyzed according to the AFIP prognostic model, 23 patients were identified as intermediate-high-risk tumors. According to the modified NIH model, intermediate-high risk tumors were noted in 26 patients. According to AFIP prognostic model, PIV scores were not different between risk groups (p=0.27). When the patients were classified according to modified NIH model, the platelet counts in patients with intermediate-high risk tumor were significanly higher than the other patients group (p=0.01). In addition, PIV scores were significantly higher in patients with intermediate-high risk tumor than other patients (p=0.03). Conclusion: This study displayed that PIV score can be useful as a risk predictor in patients with gastric GIST. Future prospective analysis are needed to support our results. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objectives: The aim of this research was to assess the prognostic value of Gustave-Roussy immune score (GRIm-Score) in stage II and III colon cancer patients receiving capecitabine and oxaliplatin (CAPEOX). Methods: Serum lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), and albumin levels were used to create the GRIm-Score. The GRIm-score was obtained with the sum of these three laboratory parameters, which were scored as 0 and 1 according to the cut-off values. A homogeneous patient group (high-risk stage II and stage III patients) was classified into two groups, one with a high GRIm-Score (score 2 and 3) and the other with a low GRIm-Score (score 0 and 1). Results: The 4-year recurrence-free survival (RFS) was 60% in the GRIm-Score high group and 94.4% in the GRIm-Score low group (p<0.001). The 4-year overall survival (OS) was 78.1% in the GRIm-Score high group and 93.8% in the GRIm- Score low group (p<0.001). Additionally, multivariable analyses revealed that GRIm-Score (HR: 4.226, 95% CI: 1.953-9.143, p <0.001) was an independent prognostic marker for OS. Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate the cancer patients with COVID-19 infection after receiving different combinations of the COVID-19 vaccines for effective vaccination strategies. Methods: Eighty nine point thirty three percent (89.33%) of 3832 with solid malignancy were received at least 2 doses of COVID-19 vaccine. A total of 167 cancer patients with COVID-19 infection at least 28 days after the last dose of COVID- 19 vaccine were included in the study. Results: Forty one point nine percent (41.9%) of the study population were received two doses of CoronaVac vaccine, 21.5% of the them; two doses of CoronaVac vaccine and one dose of BNT162b2 vaccine, 18.6% of them; two doses of BNT162b2 vaccine and 18% of them; three doses of CoronaVac vaccine. The median day from the last dose of vaccination to infection was significantly longer in patients with receiving cytotoxic chemotherapy than others (p=0.02). The requirement of oxygen support was high numerically in patients received the last of cytotoxic chemotherapy in 1-14 days prior to COVID-19 infection (23%). Conclusion: This study outlined the similar efficacy of the different combinations of COVID-19 vaccine by evaluating the clinical parameters in patients with solid malignancy. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Aim: This study aimed to analyse the clinical characteristics, effectiveness and safety of nivolumab monotherapy in patients aged ≥ 65 years with metastatic melanoma. Materials and Methods: This study involved patients aged ≥65 years who were diagnosed with metastatic cutaneous or mucosal melanoma. Patients with BRAF wild type, ECOG performance status 0-1, and who had previously received one line of chemotherapy were included, irrespective of PD-L1 expression. The study analyzed PFS, OS, and adverse event profiles. Results: Twenty-one patients, with a median age of 70, were analysed in the study. The median PFS for nivolumab as second-line therapy in elderly patients was 3.5 months (95% CI, 1.5 to 5.6 months), while the median OS was 14.5 months (95% CI, 10.3 to 18.6 months). The most common grade 1-2 adverse events were anemia (66.7%) and serum creatinine increase (23.8%). Additionally, the rate of grade 3-4 adverse events due to all causes was 28.6%. There was no grade 5 adverse event. Conclusion: Nivolumab is effective and safe as second-line therapy in patients aged ≥65 years with metastatic melanoma. It is a tolerable and effective treatment choice for elderly patients who cannot received nivolumab in first line therapy. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
