A decade of devoluition; building capacity presents the core arguments of Welsh's Devolution, highlights the methodological approach and presents an overview of the empirical research gathered. It discusses various approaches, notably those of three renowned scholars: James Mitchell who thinks devolution has not or will not lead to any fundamental changes in the UK; Jonathan Bradbury who, through his writings, predicts that devolution will lead to disintegration of the UK; and Alistair Cole, who has established in his writings that devolution will enhance institutional capacity. The thesis therefore explores these various viewpoints through empirical political science research employing survey and elite interviews to analyse them quantitatively and qualitatively respectively. ..PAT.-Unpublished Manuscript [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
