Aim: To identify the presence of variability in the evaluation of case studies prepared by nursing students during their primary care rotations based on the existing evaluation rubric. To explore the difficulties experienced by link lecturers and students in preparing and evaluating case studies. Design: A mixed methods study. Methods: The scores for the rubric items and the final grades for the case studies were collected from a sample of 132 cases. Qualitative information was collected by conducting open‐ended interviews with lecturers and a focus group session with students. Results: Statistically significant differences were identified between the lecturers' mean final grades [F(5.136) = 3.984, p = 0.002] and a variety of items in the evaluation rubric (p < 0.05). In addition, effect sizes [η2 (≈0.14)] of considerable magnitude were found. Two themes emerged from the qualitative data: (1). the challenge of preparing the case studies and (2). the variable nature of the evaluations. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Purpose: To describe the use of the nursing process and standardized nursing language by the school nurse to facilitate the monitoring of the therapeutic regimen of a girl with type 1 diabetes mellitus and her caregiver. Methods: Data were collected through clinical reports, observation, and physical examination of the girl and through interviews with her and her caregiver in accordance with Virginia Henderson's conceptual model. Findings: Clinical reasoning informed the selection of NANDA‐I nursing diagnoses. NIC nursing interventions were selected taking into consideration the available scientific evidence related to the care of children with type 1 diabetes mellitus. Conclusions: The school nurse is a key figure in improving and supporting the monitoring of the prescribed therapeutic regimen for children with chronic disease. Implications for nursing practice: This case demonstrates the importance of adopting a conceptual model to guide the nursing process, as well as showing that standardized nursing languages are suitable for school nursing practice. Fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome/myalgic encephalomyelitis, and multiple chemical sensitivity can be considered contested illnesses. The questioning of the status of these conditions as real diseases reduces feelings of legitimacy in those affected. The purpose of this study was to analyze subjectivity construction processes in people with these diseases. A qualitative exploratory study was conducted from the perspective of hermeneutic phenomenology and ethnosociology. We used life stories for compiling data (13 informants were interviewed face-to-face), and sociological discourse analysis was developed. Three main categories were identified: (a) self and grieving; (b) images and practices relating to fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome/myalgic encephalomyelitis, and multiple chemical sensitivity; and (c) relationships with health professionals. This study shows that daily experiences of people living with these diseases are marked by stigmatization processes. The ultimate purpose of nursing care for people with these conditions should be to reduce their vulnerability and exclusion. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

PURPOSE: To construct a questionnaire for measuring knowledge of a diabetic diet and validate its contents. METHODS: This study was carried out in three stages: (a) generation of items, (b) apparent and content validation, (c) cognitive pilot test. FINDINGS: An 88‐item questionnaire was obtained with a content validity index and a representativeness index of 0.87. The experts modified the items that did not reach the preset values. The cognitive test was shown to be feasible, with good exploratory values of reliability and concurrent validity. CONCLUSIONS: The CoNOCidiet‐Diabetes questionnaire was obtained from the NOC outcome "Knowledge: Prescribed Diet" and its contents were validated. IMPLICATIONS FOR NURSING PRACTICE: This research shows the usefulness of the NOC for generating tools to measure health outcomes sensitive to nursing interventions. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objetivo. Evaluar el impacto en la práctica clínica de la implantación de la metodología del aprendizaje basado en problemas (ABP) aplicada a los estudios de enfermería. Sujetos y métodos. Estudio longitudinal prospectivo en dos cohortes de estudiantes de enfermería: el grupo intervención fue la promoción 2005-2006 de la escuela de enfermería, que recibió su educación con la metodología del ABP, y el grupo control fue la promoción de 2004-2005, que recibió su formación a través de otras metodologías docentes, fundamentalmente clases magistrales y seminarios. Se analizó la posible asociación, en cada uno de los elementos del formulario de evaluación del tutor, entre la calificación obtenida por los estudiantes y la metodología de aprendizaje empleada durante su educación (ABP o no ABP). Los criterios de evaluación fueron: responsabilidad, iniciativa, habilidad y destreza en técnicas y procedimientos manuales, organización y metodología en las actividades, comunicación/relación con usuarios y familiares y comunicación/relación con el equipo de trabajo, y grado de consecución de los objetivos docentes. Resultados. Se obtuvieron 651 formularios de evaluación válidos, 383 para el grupo control y 268 para el grupo intervención. Se encontraron diferencias estadísticamente significativas sólo en el tercer año, en la categoría "habilidad y destreza en las técnicas relacionadas con los procedimientos manuales" (p = 0,007). El grupo control obtuvo una mejor puntuación. Conclusiones. Los resultados sugieren que el uso de ABP en la formación académica de los estudiantes de enfermería no modifica la puntuación obtenida en su práctica clínica en las categorías recogidas en nuestra herramienta de evaluación. Aim. To assess the impact on clinical internship of problem-based learning (PBL) methodology applied to nursing studies. Subjects and methods. Longitudinal and prospective study of two cohorts of nursing students: the intervention group was the promotion 2005-2006 of the nursing school, that received their education with PBL, and the control group was the promotion 2004-2005 of the nursing school, that received their education with other pedagogic methods, mainly lectures and seminars. We analysed the possible correlation in each of the items on the mentor's assessment form between the grade obtained by students and the learning methodology employed during their education (PBL or non-PBL). The assessment criteria were: responsibility; initiative; skill and proficiency in techniques related to manual procedures; organization and methodology in activities carried out; communication/relationship with patients and families; communication/relationship with the work team; and degree to which training objectives were reached. Results. We had 651 valid assessment forms, 383 for the control group and 268 for the intervention group. Clear significant differences were found only in the third year, in the 'skill and proficiency in techniques related to manual process' category (p = 0.007). The control group had higher scores. Conclusions. The results suggest that the use of PBL in students' academic coursework does not modify the score obtained in their clinical internship on the items specified in our assessment tool.

Trabajo fin de grado en Enfermería, Introducción: La Fatiga Compasiva hace referencia al agotamiento físico, psíquico y emocional que se produce como consecuencia del contacto prolongado con el sufrimiento de los pacientes. Estudios previos apuntan a que aparece con mayor frecuencia en profesionales enfermeros que desarrollan su actividad profesional en Unidades de Cuidados Intensivos. El cuestionario Professional Quality of Life Scale versión V (ProQOL – V) ha sido una de las herramientas más empleadas para su medición a nivel internacional. Objetivo: Validación de la versión española del cuestionario Pro-QOL – V en enfermeras de Unidades de Cuidados Críticos de la Comunidad de Madrid. Metodología: Estudio de validación a realizar en 6 fases: Fase 1: traducción de la versión inglesa del cuestionario al español. Fase 2: versión preliminar traducida del cuestionario. Fase 3: retro-traducción del cuestionario al inglés. Fase 4: versión pre-final traducida del cuestionario. Fase 5: pilotaje de la versión pre-final del cuestionario con 40 enfermeras de Unidades de Cuidados Intensivos. Fase 6: Validación dese establecerán las propiedades psicométricas del cuestionario traducido. Conclusiones: la validación de la versión española del Pro-QOL – V permitirá disponer de una herramienta a priori válida y fiable para estudiar la Fatiga Compasiva en enfermeras de Cuidados Intensivos en nuestro contexto., Introduction: Compassion Fatigue refers to the physical, mental and emotional exhaustion that occurs as a consequence of prolonged contact with the suffering of the patients. Previous studies suggest that it appears more frequently in nursing professionals who develop their professional activity in Intensive Care Units. The Professional Quality of Life Scale version V questionnaire (Pro-QOL - V) has been one of the most widely used tools for its measurement at international level. Objective: Validation of the Spanish version of the Pro-QOL-V questionnaire in nurses from Critical Care Units of the Community of Madrid. Methodology: Validation study to be carried out in 6 phases: Phase 1: translation of the English version of the questionnaire into Spanish. Phase 2: preliminary translated version of the questionnaire. Phase 3: retro-translation of the questionnaire into English. Phase 4: translated pre-final version of the questionnaire. Phase 5: piloting the pre-final version of the questionnaire with 40 nurses from Intensive Care Units. Phase 6: Validation will establish the psychometric properties of the translated questionnaire. Conclusions: the validation of the Spanish version of the ProQOL - V will allow to have a valid and reliable a tool to study Compassion Fatigue in Intensive Care nurses in our context.

Trabajo fin de grado en Enfermería, Introducción: En los últimos años ha habido un incremento de la migración de Menores Extranjeros No Acompañados a España. Investigaciones previas apuntan a que un importante porcentaje de estos menores presentan problemas de salud física y mental. La percepción de salud hace referencia a la dimensión subjetiva de la salud. Afecta a las conductas que se ponen en marcha para atender la salud. No existen estudios en el contexto español que hayan explorado la percepción de la salud de estos menores ni tampoco cómo se produce su acceso a la atención sanitaria. Objetivos: Identificar la percepción de la salud y la accesibilidad a la atención sanitaria de los Menores Extranjeros No Acompañados que residen en los centros de acogida del Municipio de Madrid. Material y métodos: Estudio cualitativo fenomenológico interpretativo. La población del estudio son Menores Extranjeros No Acompañados que residen en centros de menores del municipio de Madrid. Se llevará a cabo un muestreo por conveniencia, avanzando posteriormente hacia un muestreo teórico. La recogida de datos se realizará mediante entrevista semiestructurada. Los datos serán analizados mediante el Análisis Fenomenológico Interpretativo. Conclusiones: Los resultados obtenidos de la elaboración de este estudio servirán para diseñar, si es preciso, acciones destinadas a superar las barreras de acceso a la salud de los Menores Extranjeros No Acompañados., Introduction: In recent years there has been an increase in the migration of Unaccompanied Foreign Minors to Spain. Previous research indicates that a significant percentage of these minors have physical and mental health problems. Health perception refers to the subjective dimension of health. It influences the behaviours that are put in place to attend to health. There are no studies in the Spanish context that have explored the health perception of these minors or how their healthcare access occurs. Objectives: Identify the health perception and the accessibility to healthcare of the Unaccompanied Foreign Minors residing in the minor care centres of the Municipality of Madrid. Material and methods: Interpretative phenomenological qualitative research. The study population corresponds to Unaccompanied Foreign Minors residing in minor care centres of the Municipality of Madrid. Convenience sampling will be developed moving towards a theoretical sampling. Data collection will be carried out through a semi-structured interview. The obtained data will be analyzed through the Interpretative Phenomenologycal Analysis. Conclusions: The results obtained in the development of this study will serve to design, if necessary, actions aimed at overcoming the barriers to access to health for Unaccompanied Foreign Minors.

Trabajo fin de grado en Enfermería, Introducción: El abuso sexual infantil tiene importantes efectos sobre la salud física, sexual y social de quienes lo sufren. Los profesionales enfermeros atienden a personas en su infancia y adolescencia y es durante esta atención que pueden detectar y cuidar a víctimas de abuso sexual infantil. Objetivo: Conocer las experiencias de profesionales enfermeros en la detección y atención del abuso sexual infantil. Metodología: revisión narrativa. Búsqueda bibliográfica en las bases de datos de Ciencias de la Salud Pubmed, Psycinfo, Cinahl y Cuiden, usando lenguaje libre y controlado. Se incluyeron estudios publicados en español, inglés y portugués de los últimos 15 años, con independencia de su enfoque metodológico. La selección de artículos se realizó tras lectura de título, abstract, y texto completo. Se realizaron, además, búsquedas secundarias. Resultados: Se seleccionaron 14 artículos organizados en tres líneas temáticas: signos y síntomas que identifican los profesionales enfermeros como sospechosos de abuso sexual infantil; experiencias respecto al proceso de denuncia del abuso; dificultades que identifican en la detección y atención al abuso. Con relación a signos y síntomas de alerta destacan la presencia de sentimientos de culpa y vergüenza en los niños. Respecto a la denuncia, sienten inseguridad y miedo por la seguridad del niño y la propia. Entre las dificultades señalan la vulnerabilidad profesional y la falta de apoyo emocional. Conclusiones: Los enfermeros identifican dificultades que condicionan la atención al abuso sexual infantil. Se recomienda la creación de talleres teórico-prácticos para el entrenamiento de habilidades precisas para mejorar la atención prestada., Introduction: Child sexual abuse has an impact on each victim’s physical, sexual and social health. The fact that nurses tend people in their infancy and teenage years allow these professionals to identify victims of such abuse and thus take care of them. Aim: Explore the experience of nursing professionals during the processes of identifying and treatment of child sexual abuse. Methodology: narrative overview. Bibliographic research at Pubmed, Psycinfo, Cinahl and Cuiden healthcare science’s databases, using free language and MESH and DeCS terms. Studies published in Spanish, English and Portuguese from the last 15 years were used for this paper, regardless of their methodological approach. Said articles were chosen after reading each’s title, abstract and full text. In addition, there were secondary searches. Results: 14 articles were selected and classified among three themes: signs and symptoms which work as indicators of child sexual abuse cases; experiences during the process of reporting child abuse; difficulties that may arise in the identification and treatment of child sexual abuse. Regarding the signs and symptoms, guilt and shame in children are feelings to pay special attention to. In the reporting process, nurses tend to fear for both the victim’s wellbeing and their own. Among the difficulties, the lack of emotional backup and professional exposure. Conclusions: Nurses identify major difficulties in tending victims of child sexual abuse. It is therefore advisable the development of hands-on and theoretical workshops in which personal skills are tackled, in order to improve health care in such cases.

Trabajo fin de grado en Enfermería, Introducción: Las voluntades anticipadas (VA) recogen los deseos de una persona sobre el tratamiento de su salud para que se cumplan cuando ya no sea capaz de expresarlos personalmente. Sin embargo, los conocimientos y actitudes de los profesionales enfermeros al respecto pueden impactar negativamente en su cumplimiento. Objetivo: Identificar los conocimientos y actitudes de los enfermeros respecto al documento de VA. Material y métodos: Revisión narrativa. Se realiza una búsqueda bibliográfica en las bases Pubmed, Cinhal, Cuiden, BVS y Psycinfo, de las que se preseleccionan 172 artículos. Tras leer a texto completo se seleccionan 11. También se realiza una búsqueda secundaria, seleccionando 5 artículos más. Resultados: Se revisan 16 artículos en total. Destaca la falta de conocimientos generalizada que muestran los enfermeros sobre el documento de VA, especialmente sobre la legislación que lo regula. Sin embargo, muestran una actitud positiva hacia el documento así como la posibilidad de tener uno propio en un futuro lejano. Conclusiones: Los profesionales de enfermería carecen de conocimientos suficientes sobre el documento de VA, aun así muestran una actitud positiva hacia éste. Se resalta la necesidad de cursos de formación para los profesionales sobre las VA y estudios que revelen la efectividad de esta formación., Introduction: Living Wills or Advance Directives is a document in which a person can define their wishes for medical care in case they cannot express it for themselves. However, compliance with this document is compromised by the lack of knowledge of health professionals. Objective: The aim of this study is to identify the knowledge and attitudes of nurses regarding Advance Directives. Method: Narrative review. A bibliographic search was carried out in the Pubmed, Cinhal, Cuiden, BVS and Psycinfo databases in which 172 articles are preselected. After reading the full text, 11 are selected. A secondary search is also carried out, selecting 5 more articles. A total of 16 articles are reviewed. Results: The lack of knowledge that nurses show about Advance Directives is highlighted, especially regarding the legislation that regulates it. However, they show a generally positive attitude toward the document as well as towards the possibility of having one of its own but in the distant future. Conclusion: The need for training courses of Advance Directives for professionals and studies that reveal the effectiveness of these courses is highlighted.

Trabajo fin de grado en Enfermería, 1. Resumen Introducción: El tabaco y el alcohol son las dos drogas de consumo más extendidas en la población adolescente de nuestro país. La enfermera escolar puede desarrollar, entre otras, intervenciones orientadas a la promoción de la de estilos de vida saludables en adolescentes Objetivo: Identificar las intervenciones enfermeras desarrolladas por la enfermera escolar para la prevención del consumo de tabaco y alcohol en adolescentes. Material y método: Revisión narrativa. La búsqueda bibliográfica se ha realizado en las bases de datos de Ciencias de la Salud: PubMed, Cinahl, CUIDEN, Cochrane, Scielo y PsycINFO, haciendo uso de lenguaje libre y controlado. Se han incluido estudios, con independencia de su diseño, que dieran respuesta al objetivo de esta revisión, excluyéndose aquellos que recogieran intervenciones de prevención si éstas no eran llevadas a cabo por la enfermera. Resultados: Se han incluido 6 estudios. Éstos han sido organizados conforme a dos líneas temáticas: “Intervenciones grupales” e “Intervenciones individualizadas”. Las Intervenciones grupales están basadas en formar al adolescente en materia de adicciones de forma colectiva, mientras que las Intervenciones individualizadas se centran en intervenir con cada alumno, individualizando y matizando aspectos de las actividades según sean sus características o necesidades en particular. Conclusiones: La bibliografía apunta a la existencia de intervenciones específicas desarrolladas por la enfermera escolar orientadas a la prevención del consumo de alcohol y tabaco en adolescentes. Se precisa seguir desarrollando estudios experimentales orientados a establecer la efectividad de dichas intervenciones a medio y largo plazo., Introduction: Tobacco and alcohol are the most widely used drugs in the adolescent population of our country. The school nurse should develop interventions aimed at promoting healthy lifestyles in adolescents Goals: Identify nurse interventions developed by school nurses for the prevention of smoking and alcohol use in adolescents Sources and method: The bibliographic search has been carried out in the databases of Health Sciences: PubMed, Cinahl, CUIDEN, Cochrane, Scielo and PsycINFO, using free and controlled language. Studies have been included, regardless of their design, that would respond to the objective of this review, excluding those that would include prevention interventions if they were not carried out by the nurse Results: Six studies have been included. They have been organized according to two thematic lines: "Group Interventions" and "Individualized Interventions". Group interventions are based on educating the adolescent about addictions in a collective way, while individual interventions are focused on intervening each student individually, identifying and qualifying aspects of activities according to their context. Conclusions: The literature points to the existence of effective individual and group interventions for the prevention of alcohol and tobacco use in adolescents, developed by the school nurse. Individual interviews and group activities focused on the development of social and emotional skills stand out. More studies are required to test the effectiveness of such interventions in the long term.

Trabajo fin de grado en Enfermería, Introducción: En enfermería existen varios lenguajes normalizados. Entre ellos cabe destacar el lenguaje NANDA empleado para nombrar los diagnósticos enfermeros. A pesar de los beneficios de su utilización, su uso en España es limitado. Objetivo: Determinar cuáles son las barreras que dificultan la utilización del lenguaje NANDA en la práctica asistencial. Material y métodos: Se plantea un estudio cuantitativo, analítico, observacional y transversal. La población está conformada por los enfermeros que desarrollan su actividad asistencial en centros de salud y hospitales de la Comunidad de Madrid. Se desarrollará un muestreo polietápico, diferenciando primeramente entre niveles asistenciales y posteriormente seleccionando distintos hospitales y direcciones asistenciales de atención primaria. Finalmente, los participantes serán aquellos que opten voluntariamente por tomar parte en el estudio. La recogida de información se llevará a cabo a través de un cuestionario ad hoc en formato electrónico. Las variables que se analizarán son las características demográficas, el perfil académico y profesional, la utilización del lenguaje enfermero NANDA y las barreras percibidas en su uso. Se realizará un análisis descriptivo y un análisis bivariante para determinar la existencia o no de relación entre cada una de las variables y el grado de utilización del lenguaje NANDA. La principal limitación del estudio es la representatividad muestral, al ser la participación voluntaria y al no incluir todos los ámbitos de la práctica enfermera. Conclusiones: Los resultados de este estudio serán de utilidad a la hora de establecer medidas para aumentar el uso del lenguaje NANDA., Introduction: There are many standardized nursing languages. NANDA Nursing Language is the most used to describe nursing diagnosis. Although its benefits, its use is limited in Spain. Objective: To identify the barriers to the use of NANDA language in the practice. Material and methods: Quantitative, analytical, observational and cross-sectional study. The population are the nurses working in hospitals and primary health centers of Comunidad de Madrid. A multiphase sampling is proposed. The first phase difference between levels of care. The second one distinguish between primary health’s direcciones asistenciales and hospitals. Lastly, the participants will be those who voluntarily want to participate in the study. An online ad hoc questionnaire will be used to collect the information. The variables of the study are demographic characteristics, academic and professional profiles, the use of NANDA nursing language and the barriers perceived in its utilization A descriptive and a bivariate analysis will be performed. The second one is proposed to establish the relationship between the variables and the utilization of NANDA language. The principal limitation of the study is the sampling representativeness. It may not be representative because the participation is voluntary and the sample doesn’t include all nursing practice settings. Conclusions: The findings of this study will be helpful to set out measures to increase the utilization of NANDA nursing language.

Trabajo fin de grado en Enfermería, Introducción: El triaje es una actividad fundamental en los Servicios de Urgencias Hospitalarias, permitiendo clasificar a los pacientes que acuden a ellas en función de su gravedad y, por ende, determinar el orden en el cual serán atendidos. Ésta actividad es desarrollada por los profesionales enfermeros. Objetivo: Revisar la bibliografía disponible referida a las características que debe tener una enfermera de urgencias para realizar un triaje de calidad. Metodología: Se ha llevado a cabo una revisión narrativa de la literatura científica consultando en las bases de datos: Pubmed, Cinahl, Cochrane y Cuiden. Se seleccionaron estudios que cumplieran los criterios de inclusión: que respondieran a la pregunta de investigación planteada, estuvieran publicados en los últimos 10 años, escritos en inglés o español, originales primarios o secundarios cuantitativos, cualitativos o de metodología mixta y cuyo abstract o resumen estuviese disponible. Resultados: Se incluyeron 17 artículos en la revisión narrativa. Los resultados se ordenaron conforme a 9 líneas temáticas, que corresponden a las características o atributos de la enfermera de triaje: empatía, capacidad de valoración, pensamiento crítico, conocimientos clínicos, manejo de las herramientas de triaje, autocontrol emocional, experiencia, intuición y confianza. Discusión: Analizando los resultados, parece constatarse que todas estas características tienen relación entre sí. La mayoría de la bibliografía revisada se basa en características que las propias enfermeras de urgencias identifican, siendo escasos los estudios en los que se constata cómo afectan a la calidad del triaje realizado. Conclusiones: Sería recomendable que el triaje fuera realizado por las enfermeras que reúnan ciertas características que, a priori, garanticen su calidad., Introduction: Triage is an essential activity in the Hospital Emergency Services, allowing classifying patients who come to them according to their severity and thus determine the order in which they are served. This activity is performed by professional nurses. Objective: To review the literature available concerning the features that should have a emergency nurse triage for quality. Methodology: It has conducted a narrative review of the scientific literature referring to the databases: PubMed, CINAHL, Cochrane and care. Studies that met the inclusion criteria were selected: to respond to the research question posed, they were published in the last 10 years, written in English or Spanish, original primary or secondary quantitative, qualitative or mixed methodology and whose abstract or summary were available. Results: 17 articles were included in the narrative review. The results are ordered according to 9 thematic areas, corresponding to the characteristics or attributes of the triage nurse: empathy, evaluation, critical thinking, clinical knowledge, management tools triage, emotional self-control, experience, intuition and trust. Discussion: Analyzing the results, there appears to be that all these features are related to each other. Most of the literature review is based on characteristics which the emergency nurses identified, with few studies in which it is stated how they affect the quality of triage done. Conclusions: It is recommended that the triage was performed by nurses who meet certain characteristics that, a priori, guarantee quality.

- Abstract
Aim: To explore the views of an international sample of nursing and midwifery managers concerning attributes that they associate with compassionate management., Method: A cross-sectional online survey. Using a snowballing sampling method, 1217 responses were collected from nursing and midwifery managers in 17 countries. A total of complete 933 responses to a question related to which actions and behaviours indicated that a manager was exercising compassionate leadership were analysed for this paper. First, content analysis of the responses was conducted, and second, a relative distribution of the identified themes for the overall sample and for each participating country was calculated., Results: Six main themes were identified describing the attributes of a compassionate leader: (1) Virtuous support, (2) Communication, (3) Personal virtues of the manager, (4) Participatory communication, (5) Growth/flourishing/ nurturing and (6) Team cohesion. The first three themes mentioned above collectively accounted for 63% of the responses, and can therefore be considered to be the most important characteristics of compassionate management behaviour., Conclusion: The key indicators of compassionate management in nursing and midwifery which were identified emphasise approachability, active and sensitive listening, sympathetic responses to staff members' difficulties (especially concerning child and other caring responsibilities), active support of and advocacy for the staff team and active problem solving and conflict resolution. Purpose: In recent years, there has been much focus on compassion in nursing care, and concern has been raised in a number of reports and media stories regarding decreased compassion. The aim of this study was to explore similarities and differences in the understanding and demonstration of compassion in nursing practice across 15 countries., Design: A total of 1,323 nurses from 15 countries responded to questions in relation to compassion, via an international online survey., Results: The data revealed the impact of sociopolitical influences on perceptions of compassion, and the conscious and intentional nature of compassion., Discussion and Conclusion: The study demonstrated shared understandings of the importance of compassion as well as some common perceptions of the attributes of compassionate care. The differences reported were not as significant as had been expected., Implications for Practice: Further research is needed to explore the country and culture differences in the enactment of compassion.

- Abstract
Adolescent is a phase of continual physiological, psychological and social adaptation. It is during this time that young people tend to have their first sexual experiences. Sexual dysfunctions are characterized by important clinical changes in sexual desire and/or by psycho-physiological changes in the sexual response cycle. Premature ejaculation is one of the most frequent sexual dysfunction amongst men, with a higher prevalence in the younger population compared to other populations. The clinical case is presented of a 17 year-old male who experienced difficulties during his sexual relations. It is discussed whether his condition was a sexual dysfunction or ineffective sexual pattern. The care plan which was developed in nursing consultation was described for ineffective sexual pattern; the pending nursing treatment incorporated activities recommended by scientific evidence. Finally, the role of primary health care nursing professionals is pointed out in the detection and approach of sexual problems in adolescents., (Copyright © 2013 Elsevier España, S.L.
