The economic strength of a country is reflected through the level of development of its logistics systems. International trade generates significant economic growth, while well developed transport infrastructure gives better access to new markets. For Slovenia, which is a highly open economy, it is crucial that we do not fall behind in the development of road and rail infrastructure in neighboring countries with which it carries out a substantial part of the trade. For the movement of goods from overseas countries ve shoud continuously expand and develop the port of Koper, which represents a window to the world, not only for Slovenia but also for countries in our neighborhood who do not have direct contact with the sea. Universally accepted measure of the development of logistics systems poses Logistics Performance Index (LPI), which indicates that Slovenia will have much to do in this area if it wanted to approach the best in the region.
