The dietary inclusion of plant-based products in fish feeds formulation is required for the sustainable development of aquaculture. Moreover, considering functional diets, hydroxytyrosol, one of the major phenolic compounds found in olives (Olea europaea), has been identified as a potential candidate to be used in the aquafeeds industry due to its health promoting abilities. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of the inclusion of an olive juice extract rich in hydroxytyrosol as an additive (0.52 g HT/kg feed) in a high-fat (24% lipids) diet in gilthead sea bream (Sparus aurata) juveniles. Moreover, the experimental diets, with or without the extract, were administered daily at a standard (3% of total biomass in the tank) or restricted ration (40% reduction) for 8–9 weeks. Growth and biometric parameters, insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1) plasma levels and growth hormone/IGF axis-, myogenic- and osteogenic-related genes expression in liver, white muscle and/or bone were analyzed. Moreover, in vitro cultures of vertebra bone-derived cells from fish fed the diets at a standard ration were performed at weeks 3 and 9 to explore the effects of hydroxytyrosol on osteoblasts development. Although neither body weight or any other biometric parameter were affected by diet composition after 4 or 8 weeks, the addition of the hydroxytyrosol-rich extract to the diet increased IGF-1 plasma levels, regardless of the ration regime, suggesting an anabolic condition. In muscle, the higher mRNA levels of the binding protein igfbp-5b and the myoblast fusion marker dock5 in fish fed with the hydroxytyrosol-rich diet suggested that this compound may have a role in muscle, inducing development and a better muscular condition. Furthermore in bone, increased osteogenic potential while delayed matrix mineralization after addition to the diet of the olive juice extract was supported by the upregulated expression of igf-1 and bmp4 and reduced transcript levels of osteopontin. Overall, this study provides new insights into the beneficial use of hydroxytyrosol as a dietary additive in gilthead sea bream functional diets to improve muscle-skeletal condition and, the aquaculture industry.

Agronomic practices may mitigate greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) from crops. Appropriate nitrogen (N) and irrigation management provide the potential to reduce nitrous oxide (N2O) and methane (CH4) emissions. However, there is little information about the combination of both practices on the GHG emissions from olive orchards. This four-year study was conducted to qualitatively compare the effect of N doses applied through two drip irrigation strategies on N2O and CH4 emissions in a super-intensive (1010 trees ha−1) olive orchard. The design (randomised blocks) was asymmetric: 0,50 and 100 kg N ha−1yr−1 were tested with full irrigation (FI; 2013 to 2016), but only 0 and 50 kg N ha−1yr−1 were tested with regulated deficit irrigation (RDI; 2014 to 2016). The study shows that the soil acted as a main sink of N2O and CH4, regardless of the soil water content. Methane oxidation increased with N dose in the FI strategy (significant in 2013 and 2015). Overall, there was a tendency of yield to increase with the N dose without increasing emissions and without depending of the irrigation strategy. However, these results were not significant. Further confirmation of this tendency is necessary; particularly comparing FI + N100 (most promising treatment in terms of profitability) with the RDI + N100 (not available in this study) water-saving strategy. Plant communities and fertilization may have an impact on soil microbiome. Most commercial olive trees are minerally fertilized, while this practice is being replaced by the use of organic amendments. Organic amendments can both fertilize and promote plant growth-promoting organisms. Our aims were (i) to describe the changes in soil bacterial and fungal communities induced by the presence of young olive trees and their interaction with organic amendments and (ii) to compare the effects of mineral and organic fertilization. We set up two parallel experiments in pots using a previously homogenized soil collected from a commercial olive orchard: in the first one, we grew olive saplings in unamended and organically amended soils with two distinct composts and compared these two soils incubated without a plant, while in the second experiment, we comparatively tested the effects of organic and mineral fertilization. OTUs and the relative abundances of bacterial and fungal genera and phyla were analyzed by 16S rRNA and ITS1 gene amplicon using high-throughput sequencing. Basal respiration and substrate-induced respiration were measured by MicroRespTM. The effects of the different treatments were analyzed in all phyla and in the 100 most abundant genera. The presence of olive saplings increased substrate-induced respiration and bacterial and fungal richness and diversity. Organic amendments greatly affected both bacterial and fungal phyla and increased bacterial richness while not affecting fungal richness. Mineral fertilization increased the relative abundance of the less metabolically active bacterial phyla (Actinobacteria and Firmicutes), while it reduced the most metabolically active phylum, Bacteroidetes. Mineral fertilization increased the relative abundance of three N2-fixing Actinobacteria genera, while organic fertilization only increased one genus of Proteobacteria. In organically and minerally fertilized soils, high basal respiration rates were associated with low fungal diversity. Basidiomycota and Chytridiomycota relative abundances positively correlated with basal respiration and substrate-induced respiration, while Ascomycota correlated negatively. Indeed, the Ascomycota phyla comprised most of the fungal genera decreased by organic amendments. The symbiotrophic phylum Glomeromycota did not correlate with any of the C sources. The relative abundance of this phylum was promoted by the presence of plants but decreased when amending soils with composts.

[ES] En los años 90, se produjo un cambio en el sistema de cultivo del olivo ante la necesidad de reducir los costes de producción y aumentar la rentabilidad de las explotaciones. España, como primer productor mundial de aceituna para almazara fue pionero en la implantación del cultivo forzado del olivo, siendo en la actualidad el país con mayor extensión. Los sistemas forzados de cultivo se caracterizan por un aumento en la densidad de plantación, cambios en la formación y poda del arbolado, un aumento de las necesidades de fertirrigación y un aumento en la producción. Al mismo tiempo que se cambian los sistemas de cultivo se ha visto en los últimos años, un aumento en el uso de bioestimulantes en estos sistemas de cultivo ya que proporcionan ventajas al cultivo, como el aumento de la eficiencia en el uso de nutrientes o el aumento de la disponibilidad de nutrientes inmovilizados en el suelo o en la rizosfera. En el presente Trabajo Fin de Máster se ha comparado y estudiado la respuesta tanto del sistema de raíces como del sistema vegetativo frente al aporte de cuatro bioestimulantes de raíz. Se ha estudiado también su influencia sobre la floración y el cuajado, teniendo en cuenta la orientación y la posición en el árbol. Para ello se ha emulado un cultivo forzado en macetas con olivos del cultivar arbequina, ubicadas en la Universitat Politècnica de València, en condiciones de cultivo intensivo a las que se les aplicó tratamientos periódicos de cuatro bioestimulantes y un testigo para establecer comparaciones. Por otro lado, se ha aprovechado el ensayo destructivo que se realizó, para describir la morfología del sistema vegetativo y del sistema de raíces del cultivar Arbequina, bajo los diferentes bioestimulantes ensayados. Este trabajo ha comprobado que el 95% de la producción se concentra en la parte externa del ramo sin verse afectada esta producción por el sombreado pero sí por la orientación. In the nineteenth, the olive crop system changed due to the lack of profitability of farms and the increase in production costs. For these reasons, this country implemented the forced crop system of olive trees firstly. Nowadays, Spain is the country with more forced crop area. Forced crop systems are characterized by an increase in trees density, changes in the formation and pruning of the tree, an increase in fertirrigation needs and finally an increase in production. In recent years, while the olive crop system are changing, farmers are increasing the use of biostimulants in that crop systems. Biostimulants have many advantages such as an increasing efficiency in the use of nutrients or increasing the availability of immobilization nutrients in the soil or in the rhizosphere. In this essay we studied and compared the response of both vegetative and radical systems to four biostimulants contents. Moreover, we studied their influence over blooming and setting considering the position and the direction on the tree. For this essay we stablished a forced Arbequina olive crop system in pots at the Universistat Politècnica de València by intensive crop system condition. For this, individual treatments were performed with four biostimulants and a test to establish comparisons. On the other hand, taking advantage of the destructive essay to be carried out, we described the morphology of the vegetative system and the root system of the Arbequina cultivar, under the influence of the different biostimulants applied. This work has verified that 95% of the production is concentrated in the external part of the branch, without this production being affected by shading but by orientation. Els sistemas forçats de cultiu es caracteritzen per un augment en la densitat de plantació, canvis en la formació i poda dels arbres, un augment de les necessitats de fertirrigació i un augment final de la producció. Al mateix temps que es canvien els sistemes de cultiu s’ha observat durant els darrers anys, un augment en l’ús de bioestimulants en aquests nous sistemes de cultiu ja que proporcionen aventatges al cultiu, com per exemple un augment de l’eficiència en l’ús dels nutrients o un augment de la disponibilitat de nutrients inmovilitzats al sòl o a la rizosfera. En el present Treball Fi de Màster s’ha comparat i estudiat la resposta tant del sistema d’arrels com del sistema vegetatiu davant l’aport de tres bioestimulants d’arrel, també s’ha analitzat la seva influència en la floració i el quallat tenint en compte l’orientació i la posició en l’arbre. Per poder realitzar l’estudi s’emulà un cultiu forçat en testos amb oliveres del cultivar Arbequina, ubicades a la Universitat Politècnica de València en condicions de cultiu intensiu a les quals sel’s hi aplicà tractaments periòdics de quatre biostimulants i un testig per a establir comparacions. D’altre banda, aprofitant l’assaig destructiu que es realitzà, s’ha descrit la morfología del sistema vegetatiu i del sistema d’arrels del cultivar Arbequina, sota els diferents bioestimulants assajats. En aquest treball s’ha comprovat que el 95% de la producción es concentra a la part externa de l’arbre sense que la producción es vegi afectada pel sombrejat però sí per l’orientació. S’ha pogut establir la influència dels bioestimulants assajats en cada una de les fases del cicle productiu així com la biomassa del sistema d’arrels.

Food diversity, and in particular genetic diversity, is being lost at an alarming rate. Protection of natural areas is crucial to safeguard the world&rsquo, s threatened species. The Medes Islands (MI), located in the northwest Mediterranean Sea, are a protected natural reserve. Wild olive trees also known as oleasters make up part of the vegetation of the Meda Gran island. Among them, in 2012, a wild albino ivory-white olive tree with fruit was identified. Fruits were collected from this tree and their seeds were first sown in a greenhouse and then planted in an orchard for purposes of ex situ preservation. Seven out of the 78 seedling trees obtained (12%) produced ivory-white fruits. In autumn 2018, fruits from these trees were sampled. Although the fruits had low oil content, virgin olive oil with unique sensory, physicochemical, and stability characteristics was produced. With respect to the polyphenols content, oleacein was the main compound identified (373.29 &plusmn, 72.02 mg/kg) and the oleocanthal was the second most abundant phenolic compound (204.84 &plusmn, 52.58 mg/kg). Regarding pigments, samples were characterized by an intense yellow color, with 12.5 &plusmn, 4.6 mg/kg of chlorophyll and 9.2 &plusmn, 3.3 mg/kg of carotenoids. Finally, oleic acid was the main fatty acid identified. La tesis se propone explorar la emergencia de la literatura fantástica argentina en un conjunto específico de revistas culturales publicadas entre 1861 y 1884: la Revista del Paraná (1861), La Ondina del Plata (1875-1880), La Alborada del Plata (1877-8, 1880), El Álbum del Hogar (1878-1887) y la Revista Literaria (1879). En este proceso de emergencia identificamos dos vertientes literarias: una americana, desarrollada fundamentalmente por Juana Manuela Gorriti en la primera etapa del período estudiado (1861-1878), y otra cosmopolita elaborada, entre 1876 y 1884, por Raymunda Torres y Quiroga, Carlos Monsalve, Eduardo Holmberg, Miguel Cané, Carlos Olivera y Eduarda Mansilla. A través del estudio de estas dos corrientes fantásticas en el contexto hemerográfico, hacemos hincapié en una emergencia vinculada –tanto en su producción como en su consumo– a dos sectores sociales específicos: el femenino y el juvenil. Finalmente analizamos también cómo la composición de los relatos fantásticos en el país participó de la reflexión sobre distintos aspectos socioculturales: la construcción de una literatura propia, americana y/o argentina; las dificultades femeninas para lograr inicialmente su emancipación cultural y los procesos de secularización que neutralizaron, en cierta medida, los parámetros religiosos de interpretación del mundo., Facultad de Humanidades y Ciencias de la Educación

Emília Juan i Olivé, Blood pressure (BP) is the hydrostatic force exerted by the blood pushing against the wall of blood vessels as it is pumped by the heart. Hypertension is a chronic progressive disorder in which BP is persistently increased above the considered normal values. This medical condition represents a major risk factor for cardiovascular disease as well as for renal events. It is estimated that hypertension affects one billion people globally, accounting for 9.4 million deaths each year. The aetiology of hypertension is the result of a complex interaction between environmental and pathological factors affecting different systems, along with genetic predisposition. Accurate blood pressure readings are essential for its proper diagnosis and treatment. Lifestyle modifications, including healthy dietary patterns and regular physical activity, play a key role in the prevention of hypertension. The Mediterranean diet has been reported to exert health benefits such as reduced chronic diseases incidence and longer life expectancy. These beneficial effects have been attributed, in part, to olive oil consumption. The olive tree (Olea europaea L.), a typical tree crop from the Mediterranean Basis, has been used in traditional medicine since antient times for its biological and pharmacological properties. In this review, preclinical studies and nutritional interventions in humans assessing the effects of bioactive compounds of Olea europaea L. on BP with potent use in the prevention or treatment of hypertension, have been summarized.

Extra-virgin olive oil (EVOO) is largely appreciated for its proven nutritional properties. Additionally, organic foods are perceived as healthier by consumers. In this context, the aim of the present study was to compare the phenolic profiles of EVOO from olives of the Hojiblanca variety, cultivated under organic and conventional systems. The quantification and identification of individual polyphenols was carried out by liquid chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry in tandem mode (LC-MS/MS). Significantly higher levels (p &lt, 0.05) of phenolic compounds were found in organic EVOOs. The methodology used was able to detect previously unreported differences in bioactive components between organic and conventional EVOOs.

La producció d’oli d’oliva a la Mediterrània s’ha donat des de l’antiguitat. El cultiu d’olivera per a obtenir-ne oli és un conreu de secà, molt estès, però molt poc mecanitzat fins fa pocs anys. Darrerament s’han introduït millores tant a nivell de maquinària com de tècniques agrícoles com el reg i la fertilització amb l’objectiu de millorar les produccions i mitigar el fenomen de l’alternança productiva. Per a produir oli existeixen diferents mètodes: antigament es feia per premsat de les olives mentre que actualment és més acostumat l’ús de batedores i centrifugadores. Segons diferents paràmetres químics i organolèptics, els olis es classifiquen en categories de qualitat establerts per reglaments europeus. Al nostre país és molt habitual l’existència de petites explotacions familiars que produeixen oli. En aquest treball hem fet un anàlisi d’una d’aquestes explotacions, i hem pogut observar que es produeixen olis de molta qualitat (categoria Verge Extra) i amb característiques molt semblants als que es poden trobar a comerços i botigues. Cal remarcar, però, que encara s’hi poden introduir moltes millores tant agrícoles com tècniques per tal d’assolir un major rendiment de les explotacions. El principal obstacle a la mecanització és l’elevada despesa que suposa la posada en marxa d’instal·lacions per a l’autoproducció d’oli.

La memòria de projecte final de grau tracta sobre la creació d'una campanya de branding i identitat visual per llançar la marca d'un exquisit Oli d'Oliva Ecològic Verge Extra anomenat "Aila", elaborat per l'almàssera familiar "Cortijo de la Almoraima". The final grade project report is about the creation of a branding and visual identity campaign to launch the brand of an exquisite Extra Virgin Organic Olive Oil called "Aíla", prepared by the family mill "Cortijo de La Almoraima".

The current standard for the field measurements of spray drift (ISO 22866) is the only official standard for drift measurements in field conditions for all type of crops, including bushes and trees. A series of field trials following all the requirements established in the standard were arranged in a traditional olive grove in Cordoba (south of Spain). The aims of the study were to evaluate the applicability of the current standard procedure to the particular conditions of traditional olive trees plantations, to evaluate the critical requirements for performing the tests and to obtain a specific drift curve for such as important and specific crop as olive trees in traditional plantations, considering the enormous area covered by this type of crop all around the world. Results showed that the field trials incur a very complex process due to the particular conditions of the crop and the very precise environmental requirements. Furthermore, the trials offered a very low level of repeatability as the drift values varied significantly from one spray application to the next, with the obtained results being closely related to the wind speed, even when considering the standard minimum value of 1 m·s−1. The collector's placement with respect to the position of the isolated trees was determined as being critical since this substantially modifies the ground deposit in the first 5 m. Even though, a new drift curve for olive trees in traditional plantation has been defined, giving an interesting tool for regulatory aspects. Conclusions indicated that a deep review of the official standard is needed to allow its application to the most relevant orchard/fruit crops.

El olivo (Olea europaea, Oleaceae) es una planta icónica en el Mediterráneo por razones culturales, históricas y biológicas. El olivo como especie está formado por seis subespecies (europaea, maroccana, cerasiformis, laperrinei, guanchica, y cuspidata) que juntas forman el llamado complejo O. europaea. Del mismo modo, la subsp. europaea se divide en dos variedades: var. europaea, que comprende las formas cultivadas, y var. sylvestris (también llamado oleaster), que incluye las formas silvestres del Mediterráneo. El olivo ha sido cultivado intensivamente desde hace aproximadamente 6,000 años, coincidiendo con la emergencia de civilizaciones tempranas en el Mediterráneo. Debido al gran interés en sus frutos, como aceitunas de mesa y como material para aceite de oliva, el olivo es considerado un cultivo esencial en la cuenca Mediterránea. Esta tesis doctoral tiene como objetivo aportar conocimientos sobre la biologııa y la evolución de los olivos cultivados y linajes cercanos. Con este fin, secuenciamos, ensamblamos y anotamos un genoma de referencia correspondiente a un único individuo (O. europaea L. var. europaea). Análisis filogenómicos y evaluaciones del coverage relativo de alelos sugieren que en la historia evolutiva del olivo ocurrieron un mıınimo de cuatro poliploidizaciones. Dos alopoliploidizaciones localizadas en la base de la familia Oleaceae (Eoceno - Cretácico tardııo) y en la base de la tribu Oleeae; seguidas de dos poliploidizaciones en el ancestro de O. europaea (Mioceno-Plioceno) luego de su divergencia de Phillyrea angustifolia. Con el objetivo de estudiar la diversidad y las relaciones filogenéticas en el complejo O. europaea, secuenciamos adicionalmente el genoma de al menos un individuo por cada subespecie. Nuestros resultados muestran que los olivos cultivados tienen menos diversidad nucleotııdica cuando son comparados con los linajes silvestres. Diferentes genes están bajo selección positiva en cada cultivariedad incluida en este estudio (‘Arbequina’, ‘Beladi’, ‘Farga’, ‘Picual’, ‘Sorani’). Además de hibridación que involucra poliploidización, los análisis filogenómicos revelaron extensivos procesos de hibridazación homoploide entre los lineajes del complejo O. europaea, que resulta en un continuo flujo genético desde olivos silvestres hacia olivos domesticados. En particular, el cv. ‘Farga’ tiene un origen diferente a las otras cultivariedades incluidas en este estudio y aporta evidencia de domesticación secundaria en la penıınsula Ibérica. En resumen, este estudio permite entender la historia evolutiva de O. europaea, y descubre un complejo escenario de poliploidizaciones e hibridaciones que han resultado en duplicaciones génicas recurrentes., The olive tree (Olea europaea, Oleaceae) is an iconic plant of Mediterranean countries for cultural, historical and biological reasons. The olive species comprises six subspecies (europaea, maroccana, cerasiformis, laperrinei, guanchica, and cuspidata) that together form the so-called O. europaea complex. Likewise, the subsp. europaea is divided into two taxonomic varieties: var. europaea, that comprises all the cultivated forms, and var. sylvestris (also called oleaster), that includes the wild forms. The olive tree has been intensively cultivated since 6,000 years ago, coinciding with the emergence of early Mediterranean civilizations. Because of the interest of the drupes both as table olives and as raw material to produce olive oil, the olive tree is an essential crop across the Mediterranean basin. This doctoral thesis aims to provide insights into the biology and the evolution of the cultivated olive and relatives. To this end, we sequenced, assembled, and annotated a reference genome obtained from a single individual (O. europaea L. var. europaea). Phylogenomic analysis and assessment of allelic relative coverage suggest up to four polyploidization events in the evolutionary history of the olive. Two ancient allopolyploidization events at the base of the family Oleaceae (Eocene-Late Cretaceous), and the tribe Oleeae (Oligocene-Miocene), followed by two polyploidizations in the ancestor of O. europaea (Miocene-Pliocene) since its divergence from Phillyrea angustifolia. In order to study the diversity and phylogenetic relationships in the O. europaea complex, we additionally sequenced the genome of at least one individual per subspecies. Our results show that cultivated olive trees exhibit less nucleotide diversity when compared with wild relatives. Different sets of genes were found to be under positive selection in each cultivar included in this study (‘Arbequina’, ‘Beladi’, ‘Farga’, ‘Picual’, ‘Sorani’). In addition to hybridization involving polyploidization (allopolyploidization), phylogenomic analysis revealed extensive homoploid hybridization among lineages of the O. europaea complex, which results in a continuous gene flow from wild to domesticated olive trees. In particular, cv. ‘Farga’ has a different origin than the other cultivars included in this study, and shows evidence for secondary domestication events in the Iberian Peninsula. In summary, this study helps unravel the evolutionary history of O. europaea, and uncover a complex scenario of polyploidization and hybridization that resulted in recurrent gene duplications.

The epicuticular wax (EW) layer is located on the surface of most of plants organs. It provides the cuticle with most of its properties and is the primary barrier against biotic and abiotic stress. Despite the importance of Olea europaea cultivation, few studies have characterized the EW covering leaves and olives, which could be involved in resistance to both infection and environmental conditions. In the present study, wide-ranging screening was carried out using direct-injection electrospray ionisation coupled to high-resolution mass spectrometry to analyse EW in developing olives of nine varieties. The proportions of EW fractions (wax esters (WEs), diacylglycerols, triacylglycerols (TAGs), triterpenic acids and aldehydes) strongly depended on the olive cultivar, and in only a few cases were they influenced by the sampling date. The specific compositions of the major fractions, WEs and TAGs, were strictly related to the cultivar, while the degree of unsaturation and the chain length of the WEs evolved throughout the four weeks prior to the olive colour turning.

[CA] El projecte final de grau (PFG) que es presenta es basa en dissenyar una plantació d’olivera al terme municipal (TM) de Penàguila, en l’Alcoià. Es tracta d’una parcel·la típica de 3 hectàrees (ha) d’olivera i ametller que es vol reconvertir. La parcel·la està formada per huit bancals diferents, cadascun amb unes dimensions. La importància del projecte resideix en el marc de plantació i el tipus de sistema de formació, ja que es vol implantar un sistema intensiu amb un marc de plantació de 4 metres entre files i 1,85 metres entre arbres (4x1,85). A més, cal destacar la inserció de reg per a millorar el rendiment de les oliveres, sobretot als primers anys. La plantació es vol dur a terme mitjançant agricultura ecològica per tal de respectar el medi ambient així com als consumidors i treballadors. Es vol destinar la producció de l’oliva per a obtindre un oli d’oliva verge extra ecològic per a la posterior venta. Partint de la demanda del propietari es van fer els estudis pertinents com anàlisi del sòl i del aigua, per tal de saber si les condicions de la parcel·la són adequades per a instaurar aquest tipus de plantació. Aquesta parcel·la no ha tingut reg per degoteig, s’han realitzat els càlculs pertinents per poder instal·lar l’equip hidràulic necessari per a poder regar mitjançant reg per degoteig. Per tant, es tracta d’un projecte innovador que utilitza nous sistemes d’agricultura on la mecanització és un dels pilars fonamentals de la mateixa, tant a la collita com a la poda., [EN] The present final year project (FYP) is based on the design of an olive tree plantation in the municipality of Penàguila, in l’Alcoià area. It is a typical three-hectare plot of land planted with olive trees and almond trees to be reconverted. The aforementioned plot is made up of eight terraced plots, each of which of a different size. The relevance of the project lies in the plantation framework and in the type of formation system, as the system to be carried out will be intensive with a plantation framework of 4 meters between lines and 1.85 metres between trees (4x1.85). Furthermore, it is important to point out the implementation of an irrigation system to better the yield of the olive trees, especially during the first years. The plantation is going to be put into practice by means of ecological agriculture so as to respect the environment as well as consumers and workers. The olive yield will be destined to the elaboration of ecological extra virgin olive oil to be marketed. Taking into account the proprietor’s demand, pertinent studies such as sun and water analyses were carried out in order to know whether the plot conditions were appropriate to implement this kind of plantation. This plot of land has never had dripping irrigation, so the necessary calculations have been done to study the possibility of installing the appropriate hydraulic equipment to water the fields by means of dripping irrigation. Therefore, this is an innovative project which makes use of new agricultural systems where mechanization is one of the fundamental pillars, both at harvesting time and at pruning time.

[EN] This thesis takes the Teatro Principal Valencia as a sample of study and raises questions to deepen the awareness of its history, architecture and acoustics. Our final objective has been to analyse and reconstruct the acoustic conditions of our theatre in different historical moments, providing a new way of approaching the Valencian architectural heritage with it. In addition to this, we intend to show the potentiality of our current tools of acoustic simulation and auralization for the study of the most widely deployed theatrical architectural typology in Europe in the seventeenth century: Italian baroque theatre.The Teatro Principal Valencia is a representative example of an Italian-style theatre because of meeting each and every formal characteristic that define this building typology. Inaugurated in the year 1832, it is the oldest theatre in Valencia and one of Spain's oldest Italian-style venues, prior even to pioneer projects of the Teatro Real de Madrid (1850), and the Gran Teatre del Liceu de Barcelona (1847).We have carried out archive research data, the screening of press, bibliographical research, as well as document consultation and compilation, planimetry and images (many of them unpublished), which have made the recovery of the history of the Valencian theatrical venue possible, blurred with the passing of time. That represented in itself an objective of this thesis, and as such it is presented in the section on results. This detailed historical study of our theatre has allowed us to select five moments in which its morphological differences could manifest changes in its acoustics: 1832, 1859, 1928, 1968, and 2015. Normalised acoustic measures have been carried out in the Teatro Principal, and we have developed three-dimensional computer models of the five selected morphologies. The current acoustic model has been adjusted with measures on-site. From the aforementioned model, volumetric, geometric measurements and absorption and/or diffusion coefficients have been introduced with the object of virtually revert each architectural intervention that our theatre has experienced, always basing ourselves on documented historical criteria. All of this has allowed us to rebuild the sonic history of the Teatro Principal Valencia, being able to compare the changes that its acoustic parameters have experienced in more than 180 years of its life. As a key outcome to this thesis, the geometrical model of the Teatro Principal has been studied thoroughly on its graphics realism through the use of texturization techniques and virtual photorealistic rendering, achieving a model that can experiment on auralizations in a striking immersive graphic environment (CAVE, PowerWall, etc.), opening the door to new lines of research., [ES] Este trabajo toma el Teatro Principal de Valencia como materia de estudio y plantea profundizar en el conocimiento de su historia, arquitectura y acústica. Nuestro objetivo final ha sido analizar y reconstruir las condiciones acústicas del teatro en diversos momentos históricos, aportando con ello una novedosa forma de acercamiento al patrimonio arquitectónico valenciano. Pretendemos, además, mostrar la potencialidad de las actuales herramientas de simulación acústica y auralización para el estudio de la tipología arquitectónica teatral más extendida en Europa desde el siglo XVII: el teatro barroco a la italiana.El Teatro Principal de Valencia es un ejemplo paradigmático de teatro a la italiana al reunir todas y cada una de las características formales que definen esta tipología edilicia. Inaugurado en el año 1832, es el decano de los teatros valencianos y uno de los recintos a la italiana en activo más antiguos de España, anterior incluso a los proyectos pioneros del Teatro Real de Madrid (1850) y del Gran Teatre del Liceu de Barcelona (1847). Hemos llevado a cabo trabajos de búsqueda en archivo, vaciados de prensa, investigación bibliográfica, así como consulta y recopilación de documentos, planimetría e imágenes (inéditas muchas de ellas) que han hecho posible la recuperación de la historia del recinto teatral valenciano, desdibujada en gran medida por el paso del tiempo. Todo ello ha constituido en sí mismo un objetivo de esta tesis, y como tal se presenta en el apartado de resultados. Este estudio histórico pormenorizado del teatro nos ha permitido seleccionar cinco momentos en los que sus diferencias morfológicas podrían poner de manifiesto cambios en su acústica: 1832, 1859, 1928, 1968 y 2015. Se han realizado medidas acústicas normalizadas en el teatro y hemos desarrollado modelos informáticos tridimensionales de las cinco morfologías seleccionadas. El modelo acústico actual ha sido ajustado con las medidas in situ. Several factors affect virgin olive oil (VOO) phenolic profile. The aim of this study was to monitor olive hydrolytic (β-glucosidase) and oxidative (peroxydase, POX, and polyphenoloxydase, PPO) enzymes during olive ripening and storage and to determine their capacity to shape VOO phenolic profile. To this end, olives from the cultivars Chetoui and Arbequina were stored at 4°C or 25°C for 4weeks and their enzymatic activities and oil phenolic profiles were compared to those of ripening olives. We observed different trends in enzymes activities according to cultivar and storage temperature. Secoiridoid compounds, determined by high resolution mass spectrometry (HRMS), and their deacetoxylated, oxygenated, and deacetoxy-oxygenated derivatives were identified and their contents differed between the cultivars according to olive ripening degree and storage conditions. These differences could be due to β-glucosidase, POX and PPO activities changes during olive ripening and storage. Results also show that oxidised phenolic compounds could be a marker of VOO ''freshness".

La importancia del idioma Inglés es que es un medio de comunicación en el mundo interconectado e interdependiente. Hoy en día, El Inglés es conocido como un idioma internacional y es la segunda lengua de muchos países en el mundo. Por lo tanto, podemos darnos cuenta de la importancia del uso comunicativo de esta lengua. Cuando sabemos inglés, podemos llegar y comunicarse con los ciudadanos de la mayoría de los condados en este mundo, sin ninguna confusión en la expresión de nuestros sentimientos y el pensamiento. El presente trabajo de investigación es realizado con el objetivo de diseñar y proponer un Programa Didáctico basado en Task-based Language Teaching (La enseñanza de idiomas basadas en tareas) para mejorar las habilidades de comunicación oral en los alumnos del nivel de intermedio alto de la Institución Educativa FAP "Renán Elías Olivera", Chiclayo. Para diagnosticar el problema, se aplicó un pre test oral a los estudiantes, teniendo en cuenta la rúbrica de Speaking (habla) y la lista de observación para el Listening (Escucha) que fueron diseñadas. Luego de obtenidos y analizados los resultados, un programa didáctico se diseñó basado en Task-based Language Teaching (La enseñanza de idiomas basadas en tareas) para mejorar las habilidades de comunicación oral en los alumnos del nivel de intermedio alto de la Institución Educativa antes mencionada. Los resultados obtenidos de los alumnos del nivel de intermedio alto de la Institución Educativa FAP "Renán Elías Olivera", muestran la falta de habilidades de comunicación oral impidiendo así a los estudiantes expresar sus ideas e incluso lidiar con características especiales del habla en el idioma inglés como son la fluidez, el acento y la pronunciación, el vocabulario, la gramática entre otras lo cual conlleva a una mala interacción y comunicación y además afrontar las dos habilidades fundamentales al momento de hablar en inglés como es el habla (speaking) y el escucha (listening). [cat] L’àcid maslínic (2a, 3ß-dihidroxilean-12-ene-28oic) és un triterpè pentacíclic que s’ha aïllat de diferents espècies vegetals, tant medicinals com comestibles, i al qual se li han atribuït efectes beneficiosos per a la salut. A la present memòria s’ha estudiat la toxicitat i la biodisponibilitat d’aquest compost per tal d’aprofundir en el seu coneixement. En primer lloc, s’ha posat a punt una tècnica per determinar l’àcid maslínic a plasma de rata mitjançant una doble extracció líquid-líquid i posterior anàlisi per HPLC-MS. Aquest mètode ha demostrat ser lineal (R>0,997), exacte (, [eng] Maslinic acid (2a, 3ß-dihydroxyolean-12-en-28oic) is a pentacyclic triterpene isolated from medicinal and edible plants, and with health-enhancing effects. Therefore, the present work aims to assess the toxicity and bioavailability to get an in-depth knowledge of maslinic acid. Firstly, a method was set up to determine maslinic acid in rat plasma by means of a double liquid-liquid extraction and HPLC-MS analysis. The method is lineal, accurate, sensitive and precise with a recovery of 99% and a matrix effect of 24%. The method allowed the determination of maslinic acid in plasma withdrawn 24h after the administration of 10, 25 and 50 mg/kg to rats. Secondly, it was evaluated whether high doses of maslinic acid have harmful effects, following the OECD guidelines (2008). Subacute toxicological evaluation was performed through the daily oral administration of 50 mg/kg maslinic acid to mice for 28 days. The treatment did not modify the body weight and did not exert harmful effects as shown in the hematology, clinical biochemistry and histopathology evaluation. Thirdly, the bioavailability of maslinic acid has been studied by the administration of the triterpene to rats orally (50 mg/kg) and intravenously (1 mg/kg). Blood was collected at different times over 24 h and the plasmatic concentrations of maslinic acid obtained after both administrations were analyzed simultaneously following a population PK approach with the NONMEM software. These concentrations were best fitted to a bicompartmental model with first order absorption and lineal elimination processes. The pharmacokinetic parameters obtained indicate that maslinic acid has a relatively rapid absorption and a low bioavailability. Finally, the metabolites of maslinic acid were studied after its oral administration to rats (50 mg/kg) by HPLC-LTQ-Orbitrap-MS. Seven metabolites were identified in plasma resulting from phase I reactions and corresponding to mass/charge ratios of 487.3 (M1 - M4), 485.3 (M5) and 501.3 (M6 and M7). Only 4 of them were detected in urine (M1, M4, M5 and M6). Maslinic acid was the main compound in both matrices. In conclusion, maslinic acid does not exert adverse effects in vivo, and has a low bioavailability and metabolism with biotransformations mainly attributable to phase I.

Se han tomado muestras de ramos durante la floración y el cuajado para evaluar el número de flores por inflorescencia, el porcentaje de cuajado, estableciendo la posición habitual del fruto cuajado y según el grosor de los ramos en observación. Se ha realizado la caracterización UPOV del fruto maduro y el endocarpio, según las normas documento TG/99/4, de los cuatro cultivares en las condiciones eco-ambientales de cultivo en secano en El Comtat. En aquest treball s'analitza la producció d'oli de qualitat en un indret de la Catalunya seca, Cabacés (el Priorat), i es posa en relació amb la variabilitat climàtica. Els resultats mostren que el clima té una influència important en la producció d'olives, sobretot les temperatures màximes del mes d'abril i les precipitacions del mes més sec, juliol. S'obté un model de regressió múltiple a partir d'aquestes dues variables climàtiques més influents en la producció. No obstant això, els valors del model s'allunyen dels reals a partir de l'any 2003 a causa d'un creixement molt elevat de la producció per l'extensió del reg de suport. Este trabajo analiza la producción de aceite de calidad en una localidad de la Cataluña seca, Cabacés (Priorat), en relación con la variabilidad climática. Los resultados muestran que el clima tiene una influencia importante en la producción de aceitunas, sobre todo las temperaturas máximas de abril y las precipitaciones del mes más seco, julio. Se obtiene un modelo de regresión múltiple a partir de estas dos variables climáticas más influyentes en la producción. No obstante, los valores del modelo se alejan de los reales a partir de 2003 debido al importante aumento de la producción por la extensión del riego de soporte. Las futuras vulnerabilidades no dependen solamente del cambio climático, sino de los efectos del cambio global, fenómeno que también incluye todos aquellos cambios en los usos, hábitos y consumos del territorio., [eng] In the current context of climate change, proper studies of regional and local vulnerabilities are required. This study analyses the relationship between the high quality olive production in a municipality of southern Catalonia, Cabacés (Priorat), and climate variability. Results show the climate effects maximum temperature in April, and rainfall in July on olive production. Nevertheless, irrigation caused a high increase in olive production along the last decade. This fact leads to a disagreement in the multiple regressions, modelled by the climatic variables above-mentioned, after 2002. Thus, to define future vulnerabilities must be taken the global change into account, which considers climate change and other changes in land and water uses.

The composition and biochemical characteristics of olive fruits, mainly olive enzymes system, are crucial in determining the final quality of virgin olive oil (VOO). Thus, olives endogenous olive enzyme activities were studied during Chetoui and Chemlali olive ripening. The compositional quality of the corresponding VOO was also studied. Peroxidase (POX) and β-glucosidase activities increased during olives ripening. However, polyphenoloxidase activity decreased slowly. Moreover, the POX enzyme appears to play an essential role in determining VOO total phenol amounts, as the decrease in phenol content registered during olive ripening coincided with the increase in POX activity. A positive correlation between oil antioxidant activity and the total phenol content was established for both the olive cultivars studied. With regard to pigments, chlorophyll content was much higher than that of carotenoids in both Chetoui and Chemlali oils. Moreover, different trends in chlorophyll and carotenoid contents were observed, depending on the olive cultivar. Concerning volatile compounds, our results showed that the highest content of total C6, C5 LOX compounds, and pentene dimers was observed at a RI of approximately 3 for both cultivars. However, C6 alcohols and total C5 compounds decreased in Chetoui and Chemlali oils, respectively, during olive ripening. Practical applications: Volatile and phenolic compounds play an important role in determining VOO quality. However, these compounds were affected by numerous factors, such as, endogenous olive enzyme activities. Monitoring these enzymes activities (peroxidase, polyphenoloxidase, and β-glucosidase) during olive fruits ripening by a simple spectrophotometric assay could be useful to establish an optimum harvesting date for each olive cultivar and their possible correlation with VOO total phenol amount. El treball mostra, a partir del patrimoni conservat al terme de Torrebesses i des d’una perspectiva històrica, que els habitants dels secans garriguencs de la comarca del Segrià han desenvolupat, a través del temps, estratègies d’aprofitament de l’aigua de pluja, de les aigües subvàlvies i les superficials que han permès tirar endavant un ventall divers de produccions agràries i d’activitats derivades i han fet possible la subsistència d’una xarxa relativament densa de comunitats locals., This paper shows, based on the preserved heritage of Torrebesses’ territory and from a historical perspective, that the inhabitants of the Garrigues’s drylands have developed over time strategies to use rainwater, groundwater and surface water, that have enabled a diverse kind of agricultural production and downstream activities and have made possible the survival of a relatively dense net of local communities.

La tesi Doctoral, de la que ara se‟n presenta un compendi resumit, manté com a fil conductor l'aplicació eficient de l'aigua de reg a nivell de parcel·la agrícola. El maneig de l'aigua a l'agricultura, sector productiu que usa el més alt percentatge d‟aquest element (77,5%), és fonamental si es vol incidir favorablement sobre el consum i l'actual política hidràulica, més orientada a un increment de l'oferta que a un control de la demanda. L'elecció d'un sistema de reg eficient, com és la microirrigació, amb un disseny adequat a les circumstàncies intrínseques de la parcel·la, seran decisius en aquest sentit. No obstant, l'estudi de tots aquells aspectes que optimitzin el funcionament de la instal·lació, des del punt de vista d‟aplicació, requereix, prèviament, conèixer com es mou i com es distribueix l'aigua en el perfil del sòl.. L‟avaluació de la forma i mida del volum del sòl humit (VSH) no és un aspecte menor ni tampoc fàcil de dur a terme, essent la majoria de vegades oblidat durant el procés del disseny. Les comptades recomanacions existents al respecte, quasi sempre es refereixen a la superfície del sòl mullat i en rares ocasions al VSH, encara que l'exploració radicular en el cultius, habitualment, adopta formes volumètriques. Tenint en consideració aquests antecedents i davant la falta d'informació existent sobre les característiques del VSH i de la seva possible influència sobre el comportament dels cultius, es plantegen dos objectius generals: 1) Dissenyar un Equip Mesurador del Volum de Sòl Humit (EMVSH), verificat a laboratori i a camp, i 2) Determinar la influència del percentatge de VSH en tres espècies arbòries com són l'olivera (Olea europaea L.), la pomera (Malus domestica BORKH) i l'avellaner (Corylus avellana L.) Respecte al primer objectiu, el disseny del EMVSH es basa en el concepte segons el qual l'aigua posseeix molècules amb una distribució desigual de la càrrega elèctrica i un comportament polar que facilita el pas del corrent elèctric. Quan augmenta el contingut hídric d'un medi porós, com el sòl, millora el flux de corrent a través d'ell. Contràriament, quan disminueix aquest contingut hídric, disminueix el flux de corrent i augmenta la resistivitat (ρ). Així mateix es considera la clara influència de la temperatura del sòl sobre el valor de la resistivitat de tal manera que la disminució d‟aquella ocasiona l'increment de la resistivitat elèctrica i viceversa. Fruit de diversos assaigs al laboratori aplicant les metodologies de prospecció geoelèctriques i més concretament la de Wenner, basada en l'avaluació directa de la resistivitat elèctrica (ρ), es va dur a terme el disseny del EMVSH. La fiabilitat del EMVSH, respecte a la seva capacitat per definir la forma i mida del VSH, s‟ha verificat a nivell de laboratori en condicions simulades i en camp mitjançant sis proves en sòls caracteritzats taxonòmicament en els termes municipals de Flix i Bovera (Tarragona i Lleida). En les proves de camp, estadísticament dissenyades, es varen establir sis tipus d‟irrigadors amb temps variables d‟aplicació. Les seccions verticals generades en aquestes proves indiquen l‟existència de tres fases en el desenvolupament del VSH: 1) Fase d‟avenç amb predomini de desplaçament vertical 2) Fase d‟emplenament i 3) fase de saturació amb predomini de desenvolupament horitzontal.S‟ha observat una bona correlació entre el volum d‟aigua total aplicada per a cada irrigador respecte al seu radi mullat a 30 cm de fondària i al VSH que es genera. També s‟observa una correlació entre l‟àrea mullada (m2) a 30 cm i VSH (m3) que es genera, si es consideren els valors mitjans assolits pels diferents irrigadors per als diferents sòls de l‟àrea estudiada. La relació entre el radi mullat a 30 cm i la fondària màxima on ha arribat el VSH presenta valors pròxims a 0.8 (formes esfèriques) en els irrigadors de baix cabal (2.5- 5 l/h) i valors superiors a 1 (formes el·lipsoides) en els irrigadors de més cabal (8, 24 i 35 l/h). En relació al segon objectiu, s‟ha estudiat el VSH necessari i suficient que, avaluat mitjançant el EMVSH, proporcionarà el millor comportament agronòmic dels tres cultius escollits, sabent que hi ha un volum ideal d‟arrels humides que milloren la resposta del cultiu. Un aspecte innovador, és que els estudis fan referència al percentatge de VSH respecte al "Volum Potencial d‟Exploració Radicular" (VPER). Per a l‟olivera 1) Es determina el comportament productiu, vegetatiu i de qualitat de l‟oli per a dues estratègies de reg (total i deficitari), amb cinc percentatges de VSH (12%, 24%, 35%, 47% i 59), i 2) Es comparen aquests comportaments entre les estratègies de reg i entre el VSH d‟una estratègia respecte a l‟altra. Els resultats obtinguts a l‟experiència mostren una dependència creixent de la producció d‟oliva respecte al nivell o percentatge de sòl humit generat sota la copa de l‟arbre, manifestant-se més aquest comportament en condicions d‟escassetat d‟aigua (reg deficitari controlat RDC), i a mida que avança el període experimental. En mullar un 59% del volum de sòl potencialment explorat per les arrels (VPER) és quan s‟assoleix la producció més alta d‟oliva i d‟oli per ha en condicions d‟aigua limitada. Aquest augment es produeix per un nombre de fruits més gran per arbre i no pel pes individual del fruit. Les estratègies de reg (total i deficitari) han generat produccions d‟oliva per ha superiors a les referents en secà. Una reducció del 20% de la dosi de reg (RDC) no ha afectat de manera significativa la collita (kg/ha), el contingut d‟oli (%) ni la seva producció (kg oli / ha). Els paràmetres de qualitat de l‟oli (polifenols, amargor i estabilitat) no han variat de manera significativa segons l‟estratègia de reg aplicada. Per a la pomera, s‟ha plantejat 1) Conèixer el comportament productiu, vegetatiu i de qualitat del fruit per a tres percentatges de VSH (22%, 44% i 66%) y 2) Definir el percentatge de VSH mínim entre els assajats que generés la millor resposta agronòmica al conreu.El seguiment durant tres anys de l‟experiència no ha permès observar un comportament productiu diferenciat del cultiu (kg/arbre) en funció del percentatge de VSH. No obstant, hi ha una producció total i comercial (Φ > 70 mm) superior de poma quan el percentatge de sòl humit és del 44%, però sense diferència significativa respecte als altres percentatges. Aquesta producció té més relació amb el pes mitjà del fruit que amb el nombre de fruits per arbre. Els aspectes qualitatiusde la fruita (duresa, sucres i acidesa) no han mostrat diferències significatives en variar el percentatge del sòl humit (VSH). En avellaner s‟ha pretès 1) Esbrinar la resposta productiva, vegetativa i de qualitat del fruit per a quatre percentatges de VSH (6%, 15%, 33% i 70%) i 2) Identificar el percentatge de VSH mínim que ocasiona el millor comportament agronòmic del cultiu. Els resultats obtinguts mostren que el percentatge més baix de sòl humit (6%), molt habitual a les explotacions comercials del camp de Tarragona, és el que ha produït, significativament, una collita d‟avellana en closca més baixa. En canvi, amb un 33% de VSH és quan s‟assoleix a la producció més alta, encara que no és significativament diferent dels tractaments de VSH-15% i VSH-70%. També, durant dos dels tres anys de l‟estudi, el pes mitjà del gra (g) va ser superior de forma significativa en humitejar un 33% del VPER. Els efectes d‟un període inicial d‟adaptació radicular del cultiu a les noves condicions dels experiments i d‟una diferent freqüència en l‟aplicació del reg, per als diversos percentatges de VSH experimentats, podrien haver estat la causa de les respostes poc diferenciades en varis dels paràmetres analitzats., La tesis doctoral, cuyo compendio resumido ahora se presenta, mantiene como hilo conductor subyacente la aplicación eficiente del agua de riego a nivel de parcela agrícola. El manejo del agua en la agricultura, sector productivo que usa el mayor porcentaje de este elemento (77.5%), es fundamental si se quiere incidir favorablemente sobre el consumo y la actual política hidráulica, más orientada a un incremento de la oferta que a un control de la demanda. En este sentido, la elección de un sistema de riego eficiente, como es el de microirrigación, con un diseño adecuado a las circunstancias intrínsecas de la parcela, serán decisivos en este sentido. Sin embargo, el estudio de todos aquellos aspectos que optimicen el funcionamiento de la instalación, desde el punto de vista aplicativo, requiere, previamente, conocer como se mueve y distribuye el agua en el perfil del suelo. La evaluación de la forma y tamaño del volumen de suelo húmedo (VSH) no es un aspecto menor ni fácil de llevar acabo, siendo la mayoría de las veces soslayado durante el proceso de diseño. Las contadas recomendaciones existentes al respecto, casi siempre, se refieren a superficie de suelo mojado y en muy raras ocasiones a VSH, a pesar de que la exploración radicular en los cultivos, habitualmente, adopta formas volumétricas y en menor frecuencia formas superficiales. Tomando en consideración estos antecedentes y ante la falta de información existente sobre las características del VSH y su posible influencia sobre el comportamiento de los cultivos, se plantean dos objetivos generales: 1) Diseñar un Equipo Medidor del Volumen de Suelo Húmedo (EMVSH), verificado en laboratorio y campo y 2) Determinar la influencia del porcentaje de VSH en tres especies arbóreas como son el olivo (Olea europaea L.), el manzano (Malus domestica BORK) y el avellano (Corylus avellana L.). Respecto al primer objetivo, el fundamento del diseño del EMVSH se basa en el concepto según el cual el agua posee moléculas con una desigual distribución de la carga eléctrica y un comportamiento polar que facilita el paso de la corriente eléctrica. En base a ello, cuando aumenta el contenido hídrico de un medio poroso, como el suelo, mejora el flujo de corriente a través del mismo. Por el contrario, cuando disminuye ese contenido hídrico disminuye el flujo de corriente y aumenta la resistividad (ρ). Asimismo se considera la clara influencia de la temperatura del suelo sobre el valor de la resistividad, de tal manera que la disminución de aquella ocasiona el incremento de la resistividad eléctrica y viceversa. Fruto de diversos ensayos en laboratorio aplicando las metodologías de prospección geoeléctricas y más concretamente la de Wenner, basada en la evaluación directa de la resistividad eléctrica (ρ), se llevó a cabo el diseño del EMVSH. La fiabilidad del EMVSH, respecto a su capacidad para definir la forma y tamaño del VSH, se ha verificado a nivel de laboratorio en condiciones simuladas y en campo mediante seis pruebas en suelos caracterizados taxonómicamente en los términos municipales de Flix y Bovera (Tarragona y Lleida). En las pruebas de campo, estadísticamente diseñadas, se establecieron seis tipos de irrigadores con tiempos variables de aplicación.Las secciones verticales generadas en esas pruebas indican la existencia de tres fases en el desarrollo del VSH: 1) Fase de avance con predominio de desplazamiento vertical 2) Fase de llenado y 3) Fase de saturación con predominio de desarrollo horizontal. Se ha observado buena correlación entre el volumen de agua total aplicada por cada irrigador respecto a su radio mojado a 30 cm de profundidad y al VSH que se genera. También se observa correlación entre el área mojada (m2) a 30 cm y VSH (m3) que se genera, si se consideran los valores medios alcanzados por los distintos irrigadores para los diferentes suelos del área estudiada. La relación entre el radio mojado a 30 cm y la profundidad máxima alcanzada por el VSH presenta valores próximos a 0.8 (formas hemiesféricas) en los irrigadores de bajo caudal (2.5 - 5 l/h) y valores superiores a 1 (formas elipsoidales) en los irrigadores de mayor caudal (8, 24 y 35 l/h). En relación al segundo objetivo se ha estudiado el VSH necesario y suficiente que, evaluado mediante el EMVSH, proporcionara el mejor comportamiento agronómico de los tres cultivos elegidos, sabiendo que hay un volumen ideal de raíces húmedas que mejoran la respuesta del cultivo. Un aspecto innovador es que los estudios hacen referencia a porcentaje de VSH respecto al Volumen Potencial de Exploración Radicular‟ (VPER). Para el olivo 1) Se determina el comportamiento productivo, vegetativo y de calidad del aceite para dos estrategias de riego (total y deficitario) con cinco porcentajes de VSH (12%, 24%, 35%, 47% y 59%) y 2) Se comparan esos comportamientos entre las estrategias de riego y entre VSH de una estrategia respecto a la otra. Los resultados alcanzados en la experiencia indican una creciente dependencia de la producción de aceituna respecto al nivel o porcentaje de suelo húmedo generado bajo la copa del árbol, siendo más manifiesto este comportamiento en condiciones de escasez de agua (riego deficitario controlado, RDC) y a medida que avanza el período experimental. Al mojar un 59% del volumen de suelo potencialmente explorado por las raíces (VPER) es cuando se alcanza la mayor producción de aceituna y de aceite por ha en condiciones de agua limitada. Ese aumento ha sido ocasionado por un mayor número de frutos por árbol y no por el peso individual del fruto. Las estrategias de riego (total y deficitario) han generado producciones de aceituna por ha superiores a las referentes de secano. Una reducción del 20% de la dosis de riego (RDC) no ha afectado de manera significativa la cosecha (kg/ha), el contenido de aceite (%) ni su producción (kg aceite / ha). Los parámetros de calidad del aceite (polifenoles, amargor y estabilidad) no han variado de manera significativa por la estrategia de riego aplicada. Para el manzano se ha planteado 1) Conocer el comportamiento productivo, vegetativo y de calidad del fruto para tres porcentajes de VSH (22%, 44% y 66%) y 2) Definir aquel porcentaje de VSH mínimo entre los ensayados que generasen la mejor respuesta agronómica del cultivo.El seguimiento durante tres años de la experiencia no ha permitido observar un comportamiento productivo diferenciado del cultivo (kg/árbol) en función del porcentaje deVSH. Sin embargo, hay una mayor producción total y comercial (Ф > 70 mm) de manzana cuando el porcentaje de suelo húmedo es del 44%, pero sin diferencia significativa respecto a los otros porcentajes. Esa producción tiene más relación con el peso medio del fruto que con el número de frutos por árbol. Los aspectos cualitativos del fruto (dureza, azucares y acidez) no han manifestado diferencias significativas al variar el porcentaje de suelo húmedo (VSH). En avellano se ha pretendido 1) Averiguar la respuesta productiva, vegetativa y de calidad del fruto para cuatro porcentajes de VSH (6%, 15%, 33% y 70%) y 2) Identificar el porcentaje de VSH mínimo que ocasiona el mejor comportamiento agronómico del cultivo. Los resultados alcanzados indican que el porcentaje más bajo de suelo húmedo (6%), muy habitual en las explotaciones comerciales del campo de Tarragona, es el que ha producido, significativamente, menor cosecha en cáscara. En cambio, con un 33% de VSH es cuando se ha alcanzado la mayor producción, aunque no ha diferido de forma significativa de los tratamientos VSH-15% y VSH-70%. Asimismo, durante dos de los tres años ensayados, el peso medio del grano (g) fue superior de forma significativa al humedecer un 33% del VPER. Los efectos de un período inicial de adaptación radicular y de una distinta frecuencia en la aplicación del riego, para los diversos porcentajes de VSH ensayados, tal vez han ocasionado respuestas poco diferenciadas en varios de los parámetros analizados., The Doctoral Thesis, which summarised compendium is presented here, keeps as underlying leitmotiv the efficient management of the water irrigation in the orchard. The management of water in agriculture, being the productive sector using the highest water percentage (77.5%), is fundamental if we want to influence favorably about the consumption and the current hydraulic politics, more focused on increasing the offer than on the control of the demand. The election of an efficient irrigation system, as the micro-irrigation, with a correct design considering the specific characteristics of the orchard, will be decisive. However, the study of all those aspects which permit optimising the functioning of the installation, with regard to the water application, requires a previous knowledge about how the water runs and spreads in the soil profile. The evaluation of the shape and size of the wet volume of the soil (WVS) is not a minor aspect, neither easy to achieve, and which in most cases is not considered during the process of design. The few recommendations found on this aspect refer nearly always to the wet surface and only rarely they refer to WVS, although the exploration of the crop roots usually adopt volumetric forms. Considering these antecedents and the absence of information about the characteristics of the WVS and its possible influence with regard to crop behaviour, two general objectives have been raised: 1) To design a Measure Equipment of the Wet Volume of the Soil (MEWVS), calibrated in laboratory and orchard and 2) To determine the influence of the percentage of the WVS in three fruit crops as olive (Olea europaea L.), apple tree (Malus domestica L.) and hazelnut tree (Corylus avellana L.). Referring to the first objective, the design of the MEWVS is based on the concept that the water has molecules with unequal distribution of the electric charge and a polar behaviour that permits the circulation of the the electric flux. Therefore, when the water content of a porous medium is increased, like the soil, the electric flux within it improves. On the contrary, when this water content is reduced, the electric flux decreases and the resistivity (ρ) increases. In the same way, the influence of the soil‟s temperature about the resistivity is considered. The temperature drop occasions the raise of the resistivity and vice versa. Several laboratory proves were realized applying the prospecting geoelectric methodologies, like WENNER, based on the direct evaluation of the electric resistivity (ρ), and the MEWVS design was done. The viability of the MEWVS, concerning its capacity to define the form and size of the WVS, has been proved in the laboratory in simulated conditions and in the orchard by means of six field tests in taxonomically defined soils in Flix and Bovera areas (Tarragona and Lleida). In the field tests, statistical designed, six irrigator types were applied with variable irrigation times.The vertical sections generated in these field tests show three phases in the development of the WVS: 1) Advance Phase with predominance of the vertical movement of the water 2) Filling Phase and 3) Saturation Phase with predominance of the horizontal movement. Good correlation was observed between the total volume of water applied for every irrigator with regard to its wet radius at 30 cm deep and to the WVS generated. Also, correlation is observed between the wet area (m2) at 30 cm deep and WVS (m3) generated, considering the average values reached by the different irrigators for the different soils of the studied area. In the irrigators of low flow (2.5 - 5 l / h) the relation between the wet radius at 30 cm and the maxim deepness of the WVS present values near to 0.8 (hemiesferic forms), while in the bigger flow irrigators (8,24 and 35 l/h) relations above 1 (elliptic forms) were obtained. With regard to the second objective, the necessary and sufficient WVS has been studied which, evaluated through the MEWVS, generates the best agronomic comportment of the three elected crops, knowing than there is an ideal volume of wet roots that improve crop comportment. A new aspect is that studies refer to the percentage of the WVS related to the "Potential Volume of Root Exploration" (PVER). For the olive crop 1) Crop and vegetative behaviour are determined, also the oil quality for two irrigation strategies (total and limited irrigation) with five percentages of WVS (12%, 24%, 35%, 47% and 59%) and 2). These comportments are compared with the different irrigation strategies and with the WVS of the different strategies considered. The results obtained in the experiment shows that the olive harvest depends increasingly to the level or percentage of WVS generated under the tree crown, being more pronounced this comportment in drought conditions (limited irrigation) and according the experimental period is advancing. When 59% of the soil volume potencially explored by the rootsystem (PVER) is wetted, the highest olive production is achieved and most olive oil per hectare in limited water conditions. This increase has been generated by a higher number of fruits per tree and not by the individual fruit weight. The irrigation strategies (total and limited irrigation) have generated bigger olive productions per hectare than those produces in dry farming conditions. A dose reduction of 20% in limited irrigation has not affected the olive harvest (kg/ha) in a significant way, nor the oil content (%) or its production (kg oil / ha). The oil quality parameters (poliphenols, bitterness and stability) have not varied significantly due to the applied irrigation strategy. In the apple tree has been studied 1) - The productive and vegetative comportment and the fruit quality with regard to three percentages of WVS (22%, 44% and 66%) and 2) - The establishment of the minimum percentage of WVS among those experimented assays generating the best agronomic apple crop response.The follow-up during three years of the experiment has not permitted to observe a differentiated productive crop comportment (kg / tree) according the WVSpercentage. However, there is a bigger total and commercial apple production (Ф>70 mm) when the percentage of wet soil is 44%, but without significant difference compared to the other percentages. This production is more related to the average fruit weight than the number of fruits per tree. The quality aspects of the fruit (hardness, sugars and acidity) have not shown significant differences when varying the WVS percentages. In the hazelnut tree have been studied 1) - The productive and vegetative response and the fruit quality applying four percentages of WVS (6%, 15%, 33% and 70%) and 2) - The minimum percentage of WVS that generates the best agronomic crop behaviour. The obtained results show that the lowest WVS percentage (6%), very common in the commercial orchards of the Tarragona area, has produced a significantly lower in-shell harvest. On the contrary, with a 33% of WVS the highest production was obtained, although it did not without differ significantly from the other percentages applied (15% and 70%). Also, during two of the three experimented years, the average weight of the kernel (g) was significantly higher when 33% of the PVER was wetted. The effect of an initial period of the roots‟ adaptation to the new conditions of the experiment and the different frequency in the irrigation application, for several percentages of WVS, could be the raison for not found significantly differences among analyzed parameters.

El cultiu de l’olivera dintre de Catalunya representa al voltant del 5% de la superfície nacional, i encara que no es tracti d’un percentatge significatiu, en determinades zones l’oliverar té una gran importància social i econòmica. Aquest treball pretén realitzar un estudi del cultiu de l’olivera dintre de Tarragona i més concretament en la zona Baix Ebre-Montsià, principal zona productora. En primer lloc s’analitza la importància del sector i els aspectes agronòmics del cultiu, per a centrarse després en les tècniques de cultiu i la mecanització de la recol·lecció, element clau per a rendabilitzar qualsevol activitat agrària. També s’estudia la repercussió de la PAC i les seves darreres reformes. El cas particular de la finca Roé-Bonfill, ens permet analitzar els processos d’ordenació i mecanització de les d’explotacions tipus de la zona, per a establir la problemàtica de l’oliverar i analitzar les perspectives de futur, amb la introducció de possibles millores per tal de reduir les despeses i produir un oli de qualitat competitiu en el mercat.

The lack of specificity of the spraying equipment commonly used in olive orchards is a remarkable problem, for not allowing farmers to apply adjusted pesticide doses to their trees, making necessary to spray very high liquid volumes that increase the environmental pollution risk. In this context, three prototypes were specially developed to increase the application efficiency in olive orchards with isolated trees, which represent 98% of the olive harvested area in Spain.
