Here we describe a new specimen of Archaeopteryx sp. from the lower Tithonian Mörnsheim Formation in the Franconian Alb of Bavaria, Germany. This fossil is the third avialan specimen found in this formation. The skeleton comprises the right forelimb and shoulder as well as fragments of the left forelimb and both hind limbs. The lengths of the humerus and ulna are most similar to those of the Munich specimen of Archaeopteryx. Despite the specimen having been massively altered by late diagenesis, it can be referred to Archaeopteryx sp., based on the morphology of the furcula, coracoid, humerus and radius, as well as a manual ungual, which nests within the morphospace of Archaeopteryx rather than that of Anchiornis. Phylogenetic analyses also support the assignment of the new specimen to Archaeopteryx. Due to the fossil’s state of preservation, as well as the still-unresolved taxonomy of the genus Archaeopteryx on the species level, an identification beyond genus remains impossible.

Objective: To review the physical activity promotion efforts of Power 5 conference institutions' summer transition programs. Methods: The websites of Power 5 Conference and affiliate member institutions (N = 78) were systematically reviewed and information on summer transition programs pertaining to health were extracted. Results: Most (n = 45, 57.7%) institutions had a summer transition program of some kind. Among those who had summer transition programs, 14 (31.1%) had a nonphysical activity health course (i.e. health and/or nutrition), while courses that incorporated a physical activity component were uncommon (n = 6, 13.3%). Only two institutions covered physical activity, nutrition, and health in at least one offered course. Conclusions: There is an opportunity for tertiary institution-level summer transitional programs to expand coverage to address a currently unmet need for physical activity promotion while avoiding perpetuation of existing inequities.

Objective: To examine the association of CRF and adiposity with cardiometabolic risk factors and metabolic syndrome among emerging adults. Participants: 5681 (60.1% Men; 21 ± 1years) college students from a large university located in the northeast of the United States. Methods: Participants completed an objective health assessment that involved the assessment cardiometabolic risk factors, CRF, and adiposity. Data of 5681 students' (60.1% Men; 21 ± 1years) who had CRF, adiposity, all risk factors necessary to determine metabolic syndrome evaluated were analyzed using logistic regression analyses. Results: Poor CRF and elevated adiposity were associated with cardiometabolic risk factors and metabolic syndrome regardless of sex, with the association between adiposity and risk factors found to be stronger compared to CRF. Conclusions: Targeted and tailored screening and interventions are urgently needed to reduce adiposity and increase CRF to avoid serious short and long-term negative health outcomes in this population.

The purpose of this study was to examine the association between perceived weight change since high school and perceived factors contributing to weight change, or lack thereof, among college students. Students from a large university in the Northeast of the United States self-reported socio-demographic characteristics, and perceived factors contributing weight change (or lack thereof) via an online survey; and, completed an objective health assessment that included the anthropometric measurements. Of all participants (n = 183), most were men (61.2%), juniors/seniors (89.5%), non-Hispanic white (65.9%). Most participants reported gaining weight since high school (n = 113, 62.1%), and these participants had significantly greater abdominal girth, weight, and body fat percentage than those who maintained their weight (p < 0.005). Perceived factors contributing to weight change explained a significant portion of the variance in perceived weight change, and perceived factors contributing to weight change differed significantly between those who perceived that they had lost or gained weight. In summary, perceived weight gain despite awareness of contributing health behaviors among some students reinforces that supporting/facilitating actual health behavior changes, rather than mere awareness of healthy behaviors, should be the focus of health promotion efforts.

Objective: To examine the association between vaping and health behaviors (physical activity, fruit and vegetable consumption, sleep, cigarette use, alcohol consumption) and mental health among college students. Methods: Socio-demographic characteristics, vaping, health behaviors, perceived stress, and depressive symptoms of undergraduates enrolled at a large university located in the Northeast of the United States were assessed via an online survey. Results: Of all participants (n = 1775), less than a fifth (n = 314, 17.7%) reported any vaping in the past month. More men reported vaping than women (23.2% vs. 14.5%). Those who vaped reported fewer nights of restful sleep and greater alcohol consumption. Those who smoked and binge drank were more likely to report vaping. Perceived stress was greater among women who vaped, and depressive symptoms were greater among those who vaped regardless of gender. Conclusions: Vaping was associated with smoking, alcohol consumption, and poorer mental health among young adults.

The first partial skeleton of a carcharodontosaurid theropod was described from the Egyptian Bahariya Oasis by Ernst Stromer in 1931. Stromer referred the specimen to the species Megalosaurus saharicus, originally described on the basis of isolated teeth from slightly older rocks in Algeria, under the new genus name Carcharodontosaurus saharicus. Unfortunately, almost all of the material from the Bahariya Oasis, including the specimen of Carcharodontosaurus was destroyed during World War II. In 1996, a relatively complete carcharodontosaurid cranium was described from similar aged rocks in Morocco and designated the neotype of the species Carcharodontosaurus saharicus in 2007. However, due to the destruction of the original material, comparisons of the neotype to the Egyptian fossils have so far only been done cursorily. A detailed reexamination of the available information on the Egyptian carcharodontosaurid, including a previously undescribed photograph of the exhibited specimen, reveals that it differs from the Moroccan neotype in numerous characters, such as the development of the emargination of the antorbital fossa on the nasals, the presence of a horn-like rugosity on the nasal, the lack of a dorsoventral expansion of the lacrimal contact on the frontals, and the relative enlargement of the cerebrum. The referability of the Egyptian specimen to the Algerian M. saharicus is found to be questionable, and the neotype designation of the Moroccan material for C. saharicus is accepted here under consideration of ICZN Atricle 75, as it both compares more favorably to M. saharicus and originates from a locality closer to the type locality. A new genus and species, Tameryraptor markgrafi gen. et sp. nov, is proposed for the Egyptian taxon. The theropods of the Bahariya Oasis and the Moroccan Kem Kem Group are thus not as closely related as previously thought, and the proposed faunal similarities between these two strata need further examination.

As the first group of tetrapods to achieve powered flight, pterosaurs first appeared in the Late Triassic. They proliferated globally, and by the Late Jurassic through the Cretaceous, the majority of these taxa belonged to the clade Monofenestrata (which includes the well-known Pterodactyloidea as its major subclade), typified by their single undivided fenestra anterior to the orbit. Here, a new taxon Melkamter pateko gen. et sp. nov., represented by the specimen MPEF-PV 11530 (comprising a partial cranium and associated postcranial elements), is reported from the latest Early Jurassic (Toarcian) locality of Queso Rallado (Cañadón Asfalto Formation) and referred to the clade Monofenestrata, increasing our previously known taxonomic and geographic representations, and temporal range for this clade. This occurrence marks the oldest record of Monofenestrata globally and helps to shed critical light on the evolutionary processes undergone during the ‘non-pterodactyloid’-to-pterodactyloid transition within the Pterosauria. In addition, another single isolated tooth from the same locality shows ctenochasmatid affinities. These finds further elucidate the still-poor Gondwanan Jurassic pterosaur fossil record, underscoring that most of our current ideas about the timing and modes of pterosaur evolution during that period are largely based on (and biased by) the pterosaur fossil record of the Northern Hemisphere.

While scholarship has identified LGBTQ + youths&apos; increased risk of overt online victimization, specific forms and particular effects of covert prejudice and discrimination have not been examined. This study explored psychophysiological reactions to, and impacts of, digital microaggressions on LGBTQ + youth (aged 14-24) utilizing cross-sectional qualitative data (n = 1179). The Transactional Model of Stress and Coping was employed to inform study design and analyses. Microaggressions were depicted in a digital vignette and reactions were collected via open-ended survey responses. Analyses indicate that LGBTQ + youth frequently experience digital microaggressions. These experiences result in three main response types: (1) cognitive responses and coping behaviors; (2) emotional responses and coping strategies; and (3) physiological responses and coping strategies. Participants&apos; psychological and physiological responses to digital microaggressions included a variety of internalizing and externalizing appraisals and impacts, including identity-specific effects. Objective: To adopt an intersectional approach to examine differences in aerobic and muscle-strengthening participation based on the intersection of gender and race/ethnicity among college students. Methods: Data from the American College Health Association (ACHA) National College Health Assessment collected between 2015 and 2018 were analyzed. Differences in the prevalence of meeting activity recommendations based on the intersection of gender and race/ethnicity were computed and displayed graphically. Odds of meeting activity recommendations were determined by calculating odds ratios controlling for age, year of enrollment, sexual orientation, and health status. Results: Aerobic and muscle-strengthening activity differed significantly between races within genders, and between genders within races. With minor exceptions, men were more likely to meet aerobic and muscle-strengthening activity recommendations than women of the same race/ethnicity. Disparities based on race varied considerably between genders. Conclusions: The intersection of gender and race/ethnicity should be considered when examining and addressing physical activity disparities.

Objective: To examine aerobic and muscle-strengthening activity disparities among college cis-gender and transgender students adjusting for other socio-demographic characteristics (age, race/ethnicity, sexual orientation). Methods: National Collegiate Health Assessment (NCHA) data collected between Fall 2015 and Fall 2018 were analyzed using chi-square tests for independence and odds ratios. Results: Cis-gender women were significantly less likely to meet aerobic and muscle-strengthening activity recommendations compared to cisgender men. Transgender men and transgender women were less likely to meet aerobic and muscle-strengthening activity recommendations compared to cisgender peers. Differences were also revealed among transgender individuals, with transgender women more and less likely to meet aerobic and muscle-strengthening recommendations respectively compared to transgender men. Conclusions: Considerable aerobic and muscle-strengthening activity participation disparities exist between cisgender and transgender emerging adults. The unique constraints that transgender college students experience in relation to both aerobic and muscle-strengthening activity participation require further examination to ensure the provision of equitable opportunities to be physically active.

Objectives: To examine the discrepancy between 'told' and screened blood pressure (BP) category, and the association between body composition and told BP category. Methods: Between 08/2019-03/2020 college students (n = 1057) were asked what category they had previously been told their BP falls into prior to having their BP and body composition (waist circumference, body mass index (BMI), and body fat percentage) objectively assessed. Results: A disproportionate number (>80%) who were told that they had normal BP were categorized as having elevated BP. Men told they had borderline/high BP had less favorable body compositions than those told they had low/normal BP. Less favorable body composition was associated with increased likelihood of men being told that they had borderline/high BP. Conclusions: Better BP screening policies and procedures would ensure healthcare providers discuss elevated BP with emerging adults regardless of body composition and avoid missing opportunities to delivery of early and cost-effective interventions.

Purpose: Universities and colleges play a major role in facilitating the behaviors of students into adulthood. Active travel (AT; walking or bicycling for transportation) can provide substantial health benefits, though inequities among bicycling are shown in many underserved populations (racial/ethnic minorities, women, LGBTQ+, disabled, low-income). This study aimed to understand universities' capacity for underserved populations programming on campuses. Methods: Representatives from U.S. universities/colleges participated in an online survey which addressed basic information about university demographics/culture, common barriers and desired tools to reaching underserved students, priorities, and important outcomes. Results: University respondents (n = 51) indicated a lack of programming and implementation of strategies to reach underserved campus populations. Typically, universities ranked equity as a low priority and limited strategies for promoting bicycling reached/targeted underserved populations. Conclusion: There is a notable lack of programs and strategies to engage underserved populations on campus that should be addressed to better serve student health outcomes.

Objective: Examine college women's perceptions of factors contributing to gender inequities in physical activity and campus recreational facility use. Methods: Semi-structured interviews were conducted with female undergraduate students at a large university located in the Northeast of the United States. Qualitative data were analyzed using thematic analyses using the socio-ecological model as a conceptual framework. Results: Women (N = 18; 6 non-Hispanic White, 5 Black, 7 Asian American; 20.6 ± 1.2 years old) cited intrapersonal, interpersonal, and environmental factors impacting their physical activity and campus recreation facility use due to their gender. Built environmental factors included facility proximity, facility layout and equipment, and crowdedness. Male peers impacted women by making them feel uncomfortable/intimidated and harassed. Intrapersonal factors included a perceived lack of skills/competence/knowledge, lack of confidence, and self-consciousness. Conclusions: Findings demonstrate the need for institutions to implement and enforce policies that achieve a cultural shift in the social environment to provide equitable physical activity participation opportunities.
