Background/Objective: Technological evolution is increasingly making real the elements necessary for the daily practice of personalized medicine, an improved vision of health care whose decisions regarding prognosis, diagnosis and therapeutic strategies depend on the patient's various characteristics. This approach leads to the collection and use of information that is broad in extension and complexity, for which dimensionality reduction techniques are imperative, in order to simplify and understand it. This paper aims to show the value of the ClustOfVar technique, a variable clustering technique capable of dealing with mixed data, resulting in data reduction. Through its hierarchical and non-hierarchical approaches, it replaces sample variables with representative synthetic variables. This dimensional reduction can be extended to individuals by applying Ward's method. Methods: The cleaning process of anthropometric, obstetric, vital signs and pubertal status data from 700 participants of the Generation XXI cohort and/or their mothers led to variables being removed (181 down to 105 variables, 82 quantitative and 23 qualitative). Then, the hierarchical technique of the ClustOfVar package was applied, which started by building a hierarchy of variables. The optimal number of clusters was then determined, considering the aggregation level plot and the bootstrap methodology, and each cluster was characterized. The partition into clusters was then tried with the non-hierarchical process. Once the partition was defined, Ward's method was applied, dividing the participants into clusters. We finished with their description according to the synthetic variables. Results: The partition in 8 clusters of variables suggested by the hierarchical technique was chosen, with the first and third cluster being filled mainly by maternal characteristics (relating mainly to menstruation and physical measurements, respectively). While cluster 2 mixes maternal and individual characteristics, cluster 4 contains only patient variables at birth. Cluster 5 is the most diverse, with anthropometric and related measurements of vital signs and blood macromolecules. Cluster 6 has total mass and fat measurements. Finally, cluster 7 is related to pubertal status variables, and cluster 8 includes cholesterol variables. The clustering of individuals results in the creation of specific profiles for each of the 8 clusters of individuals. Conclusions: The ClustOfVar technique accomplishes a data transformation relevant to the dispersion of personalized medicine. O presente trabalho tem como tema os Contributos do Mindfulness para o Desenvolvimento de Competências Socioemocionais de Crianças e Jovens com Dificuldades Intelectuais e Desenvolvimentais, e sem, em Tempos de Pandemia. Corresponde a uma investigação quantitativa e qualitativa, que pretende articular os fundamentos teóricos de investigação em educação baseados neste método, com os dados recolhidos após uma intervenção assente nesta técnica, em contexto de domicílio e escolar, em período de isolamento social, e também de desconfinamento. Tratando-se de uma metodologia de investigação-ação e de acordo com o paradigma interpretativo, este estudo visa compreender se uma abordagem desta natureza comprova constituir uma mais-valia neste tipo de grupos alvo, em circunstâncias atípicas como as recentemente vividas, no que toca ao desenvolvimento de competências socioemocionais. De acordo com os procedimentos de investigação escolhidos, foram recolhidas as opiniões de 29 crianças e jovens, que constituíram dois grupos alvo, 1 grupo em contexto de turma de 1º ciclo, composto por 18 alunos com e sem DID; e 1 grupo de 11 crianças e jovens, com e sem DID, pertencentes a diversas turmas de 1º e 2º ciclo. Colaboraram neste estudo, também com as suas opiniões, a professora do grupo turma e os pais dos alunos individuais. Para tanto, foram aplicados questionários sob um modelo de escala de Likert, antes e depois de uma intervenção psicopedagógica baseada na técnica de mindfulness, ora online, ora presencialmente, e os seus resultados empiricamente analisados, demonstraram na generalidade melhorias na opinião dos participantes.

Considering the predominant profile of women incarcerated in the country, as well as the fact that drug trafficking related crimes are the main factor of female imprisonment, the aim was to present the mechanisms of criminal selectivity based on the dominant socioeconomic values since the emergence of women's prisons in the country, to understand, from an intersectional perspective, the systems of subordination traditionally incident on the incarcerated woman. Mobilizing this theoretical framework, it was intended to investigate, based on the conditions of prison life and the internal codes of conduct in prison, to what extent the punishment effectively served by the inmates (real punishment) would appear more imposing a penalty imposed on the sentence (fictitious penalty), as a way to provide substrate to the operators of the right to rethink the female prison issue. For that, empirical research was carried out at the Nelson Hungria Prison, the Talavera Bruce Prison and the Maternal and Child Unit, located in the city of Rio de Janeiro, adopting the ethnographic method and semi-structured qualitative interviews, in order to study, in the field, through the narrative of the inmates, the impact of the functioning of the prison system on their bodies. Constatou-se ao longo dos últimos anos um elevado incremento da população carcerária feminina, que, historicamente, permaneceu invisibilizada em um sistema penitenciário concebido por e para homens. Considerando o perfil predominante de mulheres encarceradas no país, bem como o fato de ocorrências relacionadas ao crime de tráfico de drogas consubstanciarem o principal fator de aprisionamento feminino, buscou-se apresentar o funcionamento dos mecanismos da seletividade penal com base nos valores socioeconômicos dominantes desde o surgimento dos presídios femininos no país, para a compreensão, em uma perspectiva interseccional, dos sistemas de subordinação tradicionalmente incidentes sobre a mulher encarcerada. Mobilizando esse referencial teórico, pretendeu-se, então, investigar, tomando por base as condições de vida carcerária e os códigos internos de conduta vigentes na prisão, em que medida a pena efetivamente cumprida pelas internas (pena real) afigurar-se-ia mais gravosa que a pena fixada na sentença (pena ficta), como forma de fornecer substrato aos operadores do direito para repensar a questão carcerária feminina. Para tanto, fora realizada pesquisa empírica no Presídio Nelson Hungria, na Penitenciária Talavera Bruce e na Unidade Materno Infantil, situados na cidade do Rio de Janeiro, adotando-se o método etnográfico e entrevistas qualitativas semiestruturadas, a fim de se perquirir, em campo, por meio da narrativa das internas, o impacto do funcionamento do sistema prisional sobre seus corpos.

Através de perfis sísmicos de alta resolução (3,5 kHz), coletados entre os anos de 2009 e 2014, foi possível analisar o fundo e sub-fundo marinho da plataforma continental interna do Rio Grande Sul, mais especificamente em frente à desembocadura do estuário da Lagoa dos Patos. Estes dados permitiram observar anomalias acústicas caracterizadas como sendo uma resposta à presença de gás intersticial no sedimento. As acumulações foram identificadas com base na morfologia, dimensão, tipo de assinatura acústica e concentração aparente de gás. Assim, cinco formas distintas de gás raso foram reconhecidas: cortina de gás, blanking acústico, turbidez acústica, pináculo de turbidez e pluma intra-sedimentar. Tais estruturações se apresentaram isoladas ou então relacionadas umas com as outras. Dentre estas, as cortinas de gás e blanking acústico foram as que ocorreram em maior número e área. As cortinas apresentaram morfologia bem definida, em formato de caixa, onde o gás se encontra mais concentrado. O blanking acústico, formado pela presença de bolhas de gás bem disseminadas no sedimento, foi distinguido por uma forte reflexão de topo e um mascaramento dos refletores subjacentes, sem demonstrar limites laterais bem definidos A turbidez acústica, associada à disseminação de gás moderada a alta, é uma perturbação de sinal pela presença de bolhas no sedimento em quantidades que apenas atenuam a energia sísmica, possibilitando identificar algum refletor abaixo do seu topo. Os pináculos de turbidez encontrados são pequenos e apresentaram forma pontiaguda, indicando uma disseminação de gás baixa a moderada. A pluma intra-sedimentar encontrada apresentou formato quase parabólico, interpassando a camada de sedimentos de modo que o gás presente nela é baixo a moderadamente disseminado. Tais formas estão diretamente ligadas com a distribuição das fácies sedimentares, as quais agem como reservatório e selante, retendo ou não o gás e gerando as diferentes respostas acústicas. A ocorrência do gás está concentrada em frente à desembocadura da Lagoa dos Patos, local de deposição de sedimentos finos e matéria orgânica. Este aporte lagunar e o retrabalhamento da plataforma por eventos de regressão e transgressão marinha no Quaternário permitiram a gênese e preservação do gás em sedimentos holocênicos, de provável origem biogênica. Using high-resolution (3.5 kHz) seismic profiles collected between 2009 and 2014, it was possible to analyze the bottom and sub-bottom geoacoustics characteristics of the inner continental shelf of the Rio Grande Sul, more specifically in front of the mouth of the estuary of the Patos Lagoon. The data allowed observing acoustic anomalies characterized like being a response to gas presence in the sediment. The gas accumulations were identified based on their morphology, dimension, type of acoustic signature and apparent concentration of gas. Thus, five different features of shallow gas were recognized: gas curtain, acoustic blanking, acoustic turbidity zone, turbidity pinnacle and intra-sedimentary plume. These structures have been isolated or then related each other. Among these, the gas curtain and acoustic blanking were those that occurred in greater number and area. Gas curtains presented well defined morphology, in gas boxes format, where the gas is more concentrated. Acoustic blacking, originated from presence of well disseminated gas bubbles in the sediment, was distinguished by a strong top reflection that masks the below reflectors, without to show well defined lateral limits Acoustic turbidity zone, associated with the dissemination of moderate to high gas, is a signal disturbance due to the presence of bubbles in the sediment in quantities that only attenuate the seismic energy, allowing yet identifying some reflector below its top. Turbidity pinnacles found are small and present pointed shape, indicating to a low to moderated gas dissemination. Intra-sedimentary plume found presented an almost parabolic shape, penetrating across the sediment layer thus the gas dissemination in the plume is low to moderate. These forms are linked directly with the sedimentary facies distribution, which act like reservoir and sealant, retaining or not the gas and producing the distinct acoustic response. The gas is concentrated in front of the mouth of Patos Lagoon, deposition site of fine sediments and organic matter. Such lagoon sediment input and the reworking of the shelf by marine regression and transgression events during Quaternary allowed the genesis and preservation of gas occurring in the Holocene sediments, which origin is probable biogenic.

Osseointegration was defined as a structural and functional connection between a living tissue-bone and the surface of an implant subjected to a functional load. One of the current chalenges of osseointegration is the development of a titanium implant surface that could accelerate or improve osseointegration process. Strategies to achieve this issue include adjustments in surface characteristics like roughness, chemical composition, superficial energy and hydrophilicity that can affect cell behavior in bone-implant interface.The aim of this in vitro study was to compare the response of osteoblast-like cells grown to four different dental implant surfaces.Four different dental implant surfaces were tested: sandblasted with acid-etched and calcium phosphates coating (AAMB); doubleacid-etched (SW); acid-etched (MP), and anodized (VA). Osteoblast-like cells (Osteo 1) were seeded on the top of these implantsurfaces (5x104 cells/implant). The viability of the cells was assessed at 24, 48 and 72 hours later, using the MTT reduction assay.The distribution and morhology of the cells was observed in scanning eletron micrographs. Experiments were carried out in triplicate. The cell viability was similar during whole experimental times in all surfaces, except by the double acid-etched surface. At 72 hoursafter plating cells grown on the top of the SW surface presented the lowest viability (p = 0.03). Most surface area was covered by thecells, which exhibited the classical poligonal and filipopia-rich osteoblat-like morphology in all surfaces, except in the SW surface. Thissurface was mostly devoid of cells, which were elongated with a flat interface with the implant surface.The double acid-etching treatment of dental implant surfaces creates a morphlogy that impairs the intimate interface with culturedosteoblast-like cells. This could have a negative impact in the osseointegration process in vivo.

Vertical augmentation in alveolar bone is difficult to achieve due to high rates of resorption in autograft bone. However, bone allograftshave been demonstrated to be more effective as biomaterials at maintaining the bone volume for vertical tissue enhancement.A vertical tissue regeneration bone model was performed in rabbit calvarias under general anaesthesia. Four hollow cylinders of puretitanium were screwed onto external cortical bone calvarias in eight rabbits. Each one of the cylinders was randomly filled with oneintervention: DFDBA, FF, autogenous bone, or left to be filled with blood clot (BC) as control. Allogenic grafts were obtained from aninth animal following international standardised protocols for the harvesting, processing, and cryopreservation of allografts.Autogenous graft was obtained from the host femur scraping before adapting hollow cylinders. Animals were euthanized at 13 weeks.Vertical volume was calculated after probe device measurements of the new formed tissue inside the cylinders and after titaniumcylinders were removed. Histomorphometry and fluorochrome staining and were used to analyse quantity and dynamic of boneformation. Data were submitted to Shapiro-Wilk normality test to determine if it was well modelled by a normal distribution. Datashowed a non-parametric distribution. Kruskal-Wallisu2019 test followed by Dunnu00b4s test. It was assumed that a p-value less than 0.05 wasstatistically significant.Results showed that DFDBA and fresh-frozen bone improved the velocity and the quantity of bone deposition in distant portions of thebasal plane of grafting. Remaining material in allograft groups was more intense than in autogenous group.We showed that DFDBAand FF exhibited larger averages in macroscopic and microscopic volumes of neoformed tissues compared with the autogenousbone. Especially DFDBA showed the greatest area of vertical bone formation specially at upper region of vertical augmentation.Both allografts can be indicated as reliable alternatives for volume gain and vertical bone augmentation. They are safer easy to storeand widely available at musculoskeletal tissue banks.

BACKGROUND: Regular exercise promotes functional and structural changes in the central and peripheral mechanisms of the cardiovascular system. Heart rate variability (HRV) measurement provides a sensitive indicator of the autonomic balance. However, because of the diversity of methods and variables used, the results are difficult to compare in the sports sciences. Since the protocol (supine, sitting, or standing position) and measure (time or frequency domain) are not well defined, the aim of this study is to investigate the HRV measures that better indicates the chronic adaptations of physical exercise in athletes. METHOD: PubMed (MEDLINE), Web of Science, SciELO (Scientific Electronic Library), and Scopus databases were consulted. Original complete articles in English with short‐term signals evaluating young and adult athletes, between 17 and 40 years old, with a control group, published up to 2013 were included. RESULTS: Selected 19 of 1369 studies, for a total sample pool of 333 male and female athletes who practice different sports. The main protocols observed were the supine or standing positions in free or controlled breathing conditions. The main statistical results found in this study were the higher mean RR, standard deviation of RR intervals, and high frequency in athletes group. In addition, the analyses of Cohen's effect size showed that factors as modality of sport, protocol used and unit of measure selected could influence this expected results. CONCLUSION: Our findings indicate that time domain measures are more consistent than frequency domain to describe the chronic cardiovascular autonomic adaptations in athletes.

As diversidades e complexidades que envolvem os sistemas de serviço refletem nos problemas enfrentados pelos gestores. Para auxiliar na solução de alguns destes problemas a simulação a eventos discretos tem sido cada vez mais utilizada. No entanto, sua aplicação no setor de serviço, quando comparada ao setor de manufatura, ainda é bem menor. Neste contexto esta pesquisa busca colaborar na literatura, referente à utilização de simulação a eventos discretos no setor de serviços e no detalhamento da coleta de dados, que embora seja uma fase importante em projetos de simulação, geralmente não é evidenciada nas pesquisas. O objeto de estudo desta pesquisa é o RA Junior (Restaurante Acadêmico Junior da Universidade Federal de Itajubá) cujo problema é referente à capacidade de atendimento devido à implantação do REUNI e PNAES. O objetivo deste trabalho é verificar alternativas para redução do tempo de espera do cliente utilizando simulação a eventos discretos. Portanto, um projeto de simulação foi elaborado (aplicando o método de modelagem e simulação) seguindo a estrutura proposta por Montevechi et. al (2010) e foram propostos quatro cenários para reduzir o tempo de espera. Na etapa de concepção, foi elaborado e validado o modelo conceitual utilizando a técnica IDEF-SIM. Foi descrito detalhes do planejamento da coleta dos dados de entrada e validação. O modelo computacional, na etapa de implementação, foi elaborado e validado utilizando o software ProModel® e uma biblioteca gráfica personalizada, criada a partir da planta baixa do Centro de Convivência da UNIFEI. Na etapa de análise foram verificados os tempos de espera do cliente, identificando o cliente com comanda (C.03) o que permanece mais tempo em espera. Na análise das filas, identificou-se a fila da mesa térmica a que proporciona maior espera e a mesa térmica como o gargalo do sistema. Os quatro cenários propostos visaram reduzir o tempo de espera sugerindo modificações no leiaute e acréscimo de locais de atendimento, explorando o gargalo do sistema. Cada cenário apresenta o mapa IDEF-SIM, leiaute e análise das filas, tempo de espera e capacidade dos locais de atendimento ao cliente. Esta pesquisa apresenta os seguintes resultados: análise comparativa dos cenários, método para coleta de dados por meio de um fluxograma; análise comparativa, descrevendo as vantagens e desvantagens das técnicas utilizadas para coletar os dados nesta pesquisa (cronometro e filmagem) e a descrição do tempo gasto neste projeto de simulação. Conclui-se que todos os cenários proporcionaram redução no tempo de espera dos clientes, evidenciando o Cenário 04 o que proporciona maior redução, chegando a reduzir em 78% o tempo de espera. Identificou-se, na comparação das técnicas de coleta de dados, a filmagem como a mais vantajosa por permitir capturar detalhes do sistema que a utilização apenas do cronômetro não permite. O passo, na elaboração do modelo, que requereu maior dedicação foi de coleta de dados com 42% do tempo gasto. Este passo compõe a etapa de concepção do modelo que totalizou 52% do tempo total necessário para elaboração deste projeto de simulação. Corrobora-se que a etapa de concepção de um modelo é crucial e de vital importância para os resultados alcançados em um projeto de simulação.
