Bryophytes play a key role in peatland ecosystems; they participate directly in the constitution of peat and in the maintenance of these ecosystems. Nevertheless, the knowledge of this group is highly limited, specifically for liverworts. Therefore, we present a key to determine liverworts, restricted to peatland habitats and swamp forests of Tepualia stipularis (Hook. & Arn.) Griseb. of Isla Grande de Chiloé ( Chile ). This key includes the main reported taxa for these ecosystems and it is based on vegetative characters to facilitate identification. Fifty-two species and 28 genera are included. These taxa belong to 19 families. The best represented families are: Lepidoziaceae, Lophocoleaceae, Plagiochilaceae, and Aneuraceae. Chiloscyphus, Plagiochila, and Riccardia are the richest genera. A separate key for each group with similar characters and alphabetical taxa list are provided. Los briófitos juegan un rol clave en los ecosistemas turbosos, participan directamente en la constitución de la turba y en el mantenimiento de estos ecosistemas. Sin embargo, el conocimiento de este grupo es muy limitado, especialmente para las hepáticas. En consecuencia, se presenta una clave para determinar hepáticas, restringidas a turberas y bosques pantanosos de Tepualia stipularis (Hook. & Arn.) Griseb. de la Isla Grande de Chiloé (Chile). Esta clave incluye los principales taxones hallados en estos hábitats y está basada en caracteres vegetativos para facilitar la identificación. Se presentan 52 especies y 28 géneros. Estos taxones pertenecen a 19 familias. Las familias mejor representadas son Lepidoziaceae, Lophocoleaceae, Plagiochilaceae y Aneuraceae. Los géneros con la mayor cantidad de especies son Chiloscyphus, Plagiochila y Riccardia. Se entregan además claves separadas para cada grupo de plantas con caracteres afines y una lista en orden alfabético de los taxones incluidos.

One hundred and twenty-nine taxa of bryophytes and lichens were found in peatlands (Sphagnum bogs) and swamp forests of Tepualia stipularis of Isla Grande de Chiloé (Chile) (41°-43°S, 73°-74°W). Forty eight percent of these species are endemic to southern South America. The range of most species spans from Los Rios Region to Magallanes Region. Fifty mosses, 52 liverworts, and 27 macrolichens were reported. Global and national distributions and habitat preferences are given for each species.

Ten new distributional records to the Chilean bryo-lichenic flora are reported. Three species and a subspecies are new to the flora of the province of Chiloé, five species are new from the Los Lagos Region and one species is new to mainland Chile. The specimens were collected in peatlands (Sphagnum bogs) and swamp forests of Tepualia stipularis in Isla Grande de Chiloé (Chile) (41°- 43° S; 74°-73° W). Diagnostic characters, chemistry (only lichens), habitats preferences and distribution are provided. The national ranges of two species are expanded. Se reportan 10 nuevos registros de distribución geográfica para la flora brio-liquénica de Chile. Tres especies y una subespecie son nuevas para la provincia de Chiloé, cinco especies son nuevas para la Región de Los Lagos y una es nueva para Chile continental. Los especímenes fueron recolectados en turberas esfagnosas y bosques anegados de Tepualia stipularis de la Isla Grande de Chiloé (Chile) (41°- 43° S 74°-73° W). Se proveen caracteres diagnósticos de las especies, química (sólo para líquenes), preferencias de hábitat y distribución. Se extiende el rango de distribución de dos especies.

Se ha llevado a cabo la revisión de los géneros Cratoneuron y Palustriella en la Península Ibérica basada principalmente en material de herbario procedente de PC y de los herbarios ibéricos más representativos. Se confirma la presencia de Cratoneuron filicinum, Palustriella commutata, P. decipiens y P. falcata en la Península Ibérica y su ausencia en Portugal. Todas crecen en hábitats acuáticos preferentemente basófilos o neutros. Cratoneuron filicinum var. atrovirens y C. filicinum var. curvicaule son excluidos de la Flora Briológica Ibérica. Todos los especímenes registrados como Hypnum sulcatum, Hypnum irrigatum, Cratoneuron commutatum var. irrigatum, C. commutatum var. fluctuans, C. commutatum var. sulcatum y Palustriella commutata var. sulcata han sido reidentificados como Palustriella falcata y se consideran sinónimos de ésta. Cratoneuron filicinum es la especie más común, soporta periodos de sequía más prolongados que las especies de Palustriella, por lo que su presencia es la más amplia tanto en la Región Eurosiberiana (250-2000 m) como en la Mediterránea de la Península Ibérica e Islas Baleares (180-2300 m). Palustriella commutata se distribuye exclusivamente en los hábitats calcáreos y húmedos de la mitad norte de la Península, siendo muy escasa en el sur. Palustriella falcata crece en rocas y suelos basófilos o neutros, pero requiere hábitats más húmedos que Palustriella commutata por lo que su distribución está limitada a las zonas montañosas de la mitad norte de la Península siendo rara en el sur. P. decipiens se comporta como una especie acidófila o neutrófila. Sólo se presenta en hábitats mesofíticos; crece en rocas húmedas o en pastizales oligo-mesotróficos y puede soportar cortos periodos de sequía. Su área de distribución está restringida a las zonas de alta montaña peninsular (Cordillera Cantábrica, Pirineos, Macizo de La Demanda y Sierra Nevada). Se aportan claves, descripciones, iconografía, fotografías de MEB y mapas de distribución de cada especie de Cratoneuron y Palustriella en la Península Ibérica. Cratoneuron and Palustriella are revised for the Iberian Peninsula, based mainly on specimens kept in PC and the main Iberian herbaria. The occurrence of Cratoneuron filicinum, Palustriella commutata, P. falcata and P. decipiens is confirmed. Cratoneuron filicinum var. atrovirens and C. filicinum var. curvicaule should be excluded from the Iberian Bryological Flora. All the Iberian specimens kept in the revised herbaria as Hypnum sulcatum, Hypnum irrigatum, Cratoneuron commutatum var. irrigatum, C. commutatum var. fluctuans, C. commutatum var. sulcatum, and Palustriella commutata var. sulcata were re-identified as Palustriella falcata, and these names are considered as synonyms of P. falcata. Cratoneuron filicinum is the most common of the revised species. It can stand longer dry periods than Palustriella species, consequently its distribution is the widest among the studied species in the Eurosiberian Region (250-2000 m) and the Mediterranean Region and Balearic Islands (180-2300 m). Palustriella commutata grows exclusively in wet and calcareous habitats in the northern half of the Iberian Peninsula, and it is very rare in the south. Palustriella falcata grows on rocks and basic or neutral soils, although it requires wetter habitats than Palustriella commutata, for this reason its distribution is restricted to mountainous regions in the northern half of the Iberian Peninsula, being rare in the southern half. P. decipiens behaves as an acidophilus or neutrophilus species. It only occurs in mesophitic habitats, growing on wet rocks or oligo-mesotrophic meadows, and can stand short dry periods. Its distribution area is restricted to high mountain regions (Cantabric Range, Pirenees, La Demanda Range, and Sierra Nevada). Identification keys, descriptions, iconography, SEM images, and distribution maps for all the species of Cratoneuron and Palustriella occurring in the Iberian Peninsula are provided.

Se ha llevado a cabo la revisión del género Calliergonella Loeske en la Península Ibérica basada principalmente en material de herbario procedente de PC y de los más importantes herbarios ibéricos. Se confirma la presencia de C. cuspidata (Hedw.) Loeske y C. lindbergii (Mitt.) Hedenäs en el área de estudio. C. cuspidata se distribuye ampliamente en todo tipo de terrenos encharcados y húmedos de la Península Ibérica, especialmente en las zonas montañosas de la mitad norte (30-2000 m s.n.m.). C. lindbergii está restringida a medios húmedos de la Región Eurosiberiana, de manera que crece entre 1200 y 2200 m s.n.m. a lo largo de los Pirineos y a bajas altitudes (50-100 m) en la Cordillera Cantábrica. Se aportan clave, descripciones, iconografía y mapas de distribución para las especies de Calliergonella en la Península Ibérica. The genus Calliergonella Loeske is revised for the Iberian Peninsula, based mainly on specimens kept in PC and the main Iberian herbaria. The occurrence of C. cuspidata (Hedw.) Loeske and C. lindbergii (Mitt.) Hedenäs in the studied area is confirmed. C. cuspidata is widely distributed in all kind of wet habitats in the Iberian Peninsula, especially in the mountainous areas of the northern half (30-2000 m a.s.l.). C. lindbergii is restricted to moist ant wet habitats in the Eurosiberian Region, growing from 1200 to 2200 m a.s.l. in the Pyrenees and at lower altitudes (50-100 m a.s.l.) in the Cantabrian Range. A key, descriptions, illustrations and distribution maps of the species of Calliergonella in the Iberian Peninsula are provided.
