Abstract

近年、野生動物によって引き起こされる獣害が日本各地で大きな社会問題となっている。筆者らは、2019年度に大阪大学で開講されたProject-Based Learning(PBL)1)型授業「フィールド・プロジェクト2)」で、獣害が深刻な滋賀県高島市のX地区周辺で課題解決に取り組んだ。授業は解決策の提案をもって終了したが、提案の改善を重ねて実装に繋げるという過程で実践力を身につけたいという思いから、授業担当教員および地域住民（課題提供者）の協力を得て、PBL形式での学びを継続することにした。新型コロナウイルス感染症拡大によって計画の変更を余儀なくされることもあったが、状況に適応して実現可能なことに着手し、活動を展開した。本活動はPBLを授業だけに留めず、授業終了後も学習目標を掲げ、課題解決に向けて実装に取り組もうとした点で、PBLの継続性に示唆を与え得る事例である。, In recent years, agricultural damage caused by wild animals has become a major social problem in various parts of Japan. The authors have tackled the beast damage problem around a district of Takashima City, Shiga Prefecture. This activity started in a project-based-learning (PBL) class coursework called "Field Project" at Osaka University in 2019. The authors made some proposals by the end of the class, but had a desire to acquire practical skills in the process of improving and implementing the pr oposals. So, we decided to continue PBL-style learning in cooperation with a professor and the community residents. However, the pandemic of COVID-19 made us change our plan and there was some limitation to what the authors could do. This activity was beyo nd a class coursework, but we set learning goals and tried to implement our ideas. Therefore, this can give some suggestions to the continuity of PBL.

9. An Impact of Stricter Student Visa Issuance on Japanese Language Schools and How to Deal with It : Exploration from a Life Story Interview

Abstract

Japanese language schools are subject to policies against undocumented immigration involving the stricter issuance of student visas by the Ministry of Justice, but it is unclear how schools have responded. Therefore, this study investigates how Japanese language schools and their management have been affected by the stricter visa issuance. Life story interviews were conducted with three managers for analysis using an interpretive and objective approach. It was found that the stricter issuance of student visas occurred under almost the same conditions regardless of the size, age, and location of the school, which impaired their management. Besides, the acceptability to the schools of the public policy was low. However, the schools have addressed the policies dif ferently because of variations in the management philosophy of the organization and the managers’ perceptions of the situation.

Abstract

第36回北方圏国際シンポジウム「オホーツク海と流氷2022」 北方圏国際シンポジウム実行委員会 2022年2月21日-23日 紋別市民会館・道立オホーツク流氷科学センター・紋別市立博物館・北海道大学北極域研究センター, While the diverse environmental changes have been seen globally in recent years, the purpose of this joint research is to extract issues for the appropriate Arctic tourism development with a view of improving community resilience that is expected to respond to those global changes. In this context, therefore, this research adopted a framework of Adventure tourism (AT), which has been actively discussed in the Arctic in these days and also has the latest trend of indigenous people’s perspective on nature. And then we conducted a basic comparative analysis based on some hearing surveys in the Inari region in Finish Lapland and the Akan region in Hokkaido, Japan. Although their histories and backgrounds of regional tourism development are different, the common significant issues that belong to each of the eight issue categories for the Arctic tourism development revealed in the first year of this research were extracted. Furthermore, we extracted these issues from the perspectives of community, natural environment in region, and indigenous culture as the result of comprehensive analysis of both region’s endeavors and possibility of attracting AT customers with their remarkable characteristics., 昨今グローバルに多様な環境変化が見られる中、その変化への対応が期待される地域のレジリエンス向上を見据えた適切な北極域観光振興の課題抽出が本研究の目的である。そのため、近年北極域でも活発に議論され、とくに先住民族の自然観を最新のトレンドとするアドベンチャーツーリズム（AT）の枠組みを使用し、フィンランド・ラップランドのイナリ地域と国内・北海道の阿寒地域の観光の取組み状況をヒアリング調査した上で、本研究は基礎的な比較分析を行った。地域観光の振興の歴史や背景はそれぞれ異なるが、両地域の取組みと顕著な特徴をもつAT顧客の誘致の可能性を総合して分析した結果、本研究が初年度に明らかにした北極域観光振興における8つの課題に属する共通の重要課題が、コミュニティや地域の自然環境、そして先住民族文化の視点からそれぞれ抽出された。

28. Destination management and sustainable development through the common lens of the Commons

Abstract

This study combines three interconnected streams in tourism literature: analysis of the utilisation of common pool resources (CPR) in tourism, studies on sustainable tourism development and theoretical contributions to the articulation of roles, missions and strategies of a destination management organisation (DMO). Starting from an integrative literature review, our aim is to explore the symbiotic relationships between these approaches in order to design a conceptual framework that opens new research opportunities. Clearly, the concrete application of such a conceptual model depends on the resources of each destination, the type of tourism dynamics observed, the specific stakeholders involved and the power balance between them. Our approach integrates the principles of sustainable development into the strategic role of a DMO through the management of CPR, aiming at the achievement of significant benefits for the host communities within the three pillars of sustainable development (ecological, social and economic) through participatory processes of destination management. In addition, we present an exploratory illustration of this conceptual framework for the case of a rural destination of Kushiro-Akan (Hokkaido, Japan). Policy and managerial implications are discussed, along with the needs for further research.

Abstract

We report a case of sigmoid endometriosis diagnosed preoperatively based on endoscopic ultrasound-guided fine-needle aspiration (EUS-FNA) findings. A 42-year-old female came to us with left lower abdominal pain and bloating that had started 3 months prior. CT and MRI results showed wall thickening of the sigmoid colon. A colonoscopy procedure could not be completed because passage through the sigmoid colon was blocked due to severe stenosis, while mucosal biopsy samples obtained during that procedure could not confirm a diagnosis. EUS-FNA was then performed and specimens were obtained from the muscular layer with stenosis, which revealed a thickened hypoechoic lesion. Histological findings obtained by use of EUS-FNA demonstrated a large amount of fibrosis in endometrial glands and a diagnosis of sigmoid endometriosis was confirmed by additional immunostaining. Thus, a laparoscopic sigmoidectomy was performed, with sigmoid endometriosis finally diagnosed. Confirmation of a diagnosis of intestinal endometriosis based on histological findings of mucosal biopsy specimens obtained by colonoscopy is difficult, because endometrial implants are primarily located in the serosal and/or muscular layer. When safe aspiration is possible, we consider that EUS-FNA can be an effective method for preoperative diagnosis of intestinal endometriosis, which may contribute to avoidance of unnecessary or excessive surgery.
