\nHIGHLIGHTSBlack, brown, and white mustards are important spice and oil crops cultivated worldwide. In this study, the effect of mustard lines in terms of growth and yield under spring sown conditions during 2 years (2020 and 2021) was investigated under semi-arid climatic conditions in Ankara, Turkey. Fifteen lines and one standard were used in this study. The experiment was carried out according to the randomized block trial design with four replications. The results demonstrated statistically significant lines × years interaction for plant height, number of branches, number of capsules, number of seeds, thousand-seed weight, seed yield and crude oil yield of black, brown, and white mustard lines. The days to emergence, 4–6 leaves rosette stages, 50% flowering, 50% encapsulation, and harvest varied according to species and years. The better production year was 2021, when the highest seed yield (3080 kg ha−1) and oil yield (612 kg ha−1) were determined from the Brassica juncea-Bj3 line, while the lower production year was 2020, when the lowest seed yield (572 kg ha−1) and oil yield (133 kg ha−1) were detected for the B. nigra-Bn5 line. The B. juncea-Bj3 line for crude oil yield (612 kg ha−1) and the Sinapis alba-Sa5 line for seed yield (2282 kg ha−1) appeared to be superior in performance compared to the other lines and standards. The lines can be further exploited for breeding programs through selection and hybridization. Considering the yield data of the lines, it was detected that the lines of Brassica juncea, Sinapis alba and Brassica nigra have an important potential as a raw material resource for different industries. In the Americas, the palm weevils Rhynchophorus palmarum and Dynamis borassi are two of the most economically important palm pests, attacking crops including oil palms, coconut palms, Canary Islands date palms and peach palms. Mass trapping with aggregation pheromone‐baited traps has been used for several decades as the main way to monitor and manage palm weevil populations worldwide. Given that several species of palm weevils have the same main aggregation pheromone and that one species can be attracted to the aggregation pheromones of other species, it is important to compare the efficacy of multiple pheromone lures on several species of palm weevils. Here, we tested the commercial pheromone lure Dynalure (ferruginol) independently, and the lures Rhyncolure (rhynchophorol) and Metalure (89% ferruginol and 11% 2‐methyl‐4‐heptanol) jointly, for their efficacy at attracting R. palmarum and D. borassi in a palm growing area of Tumaco, Colombia. We found that Dynalure and Rhyncolure are effective at attracting both species, but traps with Dynalure attract more D. borassi, while traps with Rhyncolure attract more R. palmarum. Metalure had a repellent effect for both species, highlighting the importance of minor components in pheromone lures. For R. palmarum, captures were female‐biased in traps with the lures Rhyncolure and Metalure, while for D. borassi captures were male‐biased with all lures tested. While both species showed similar numbers of captures per trap at the beginning of the experiment, at the end of the 14‐month observation period, R. palmarum was the most abundant species captured in traps. Our results highlight the importance of evaluating the field efficacy of lures with different aggregation pheromones for mass trapping of palm weevils and to consider the effect of minor components in the lures, especially with the potential invasion of the red palm weevil to the Americas, and the urgent need to develop an integrated pest management programme that covers multiple species of sympatric palm weevils. Bud rot (BR), caused by Phytophthora palmivora, limits growth and development of oil palms in the American continent, particularly in Colombia. Due to the absence of systematic epidemiological analyses and determination of risk factors associated with BR, this study aimed to employ deterministic mathematical models and frequentist and Bayesian statistical methods to quantify the genetic response and edaphoclimatic variables as risk indicators of BR. From 2011 to 2014, the severity of BR in oil palm crops was recorded monthly in two locations: Tumaco (hot spot) and Villavicencio (cold spot), determining the edaphoclimatic variables at each site. Using the area under the disease progress stairs curve, temporal models were applied to determine the rate of disease development (R0) to quantify risk at locality and genotype levels. Subsequently, the observed intensity and severity levels of BR were adjusted to models such as survival curves, Cox proportional hazard risk and transition probabilities, or Markov states, with the aim of quantifying and characterizing risk factors associated with genotype and edaphoclimatic variables at each location. The risk in Tumaco was three times higher than in Villavicencio, and the R0 values were differential by genotype, with Tenera more susceptible than Hybrids. Moreover, the risk of BR increased when periods of 2–3 months occurred with successive instances of precipitation and relative humidity greater than 150 mm/month and 90%, respectively, and when manganese and zinc levels were below optimal. Soybean is an important protein and oil crop around the world, widely cultivated in Heilongjiang province, China. In the summer of 2021, soybean root rot samples were collected from farms in multiple regions of Heilongjiang province to isolate pathogens. Twenty‐seven fungal isolates with similar morphology were found, causing soybean root discolouration and blackness leading to root rot, but which had relatively mild pathogenicity, with an average disease index of 13.69–32.25. Morphological features and multilocus phylogenetic analyses divided these isolates into four species: Clonostachys rosea (48.2%), C. rosea f. sp. rosea (14.8%), C. chloroleuca (29.6%) and Clonostachys sp. (7.4%). Co‐inoculation of these four species with two important pathogenic Fusarium species that can cause soybean root rot, F. annulatum and Fusarium sp. 1 in the Fusarium oxysporum species complex (FOSC), showed that C. rosea and Clonostachys sp. significantly reduced the pathogenicity of F. annulatum to soybean root, while C. rosea f. sp. rosea and C. chloroleuca slightly increased the pathogenicity of F. annulatum. C. rosea, Clonostachys sp., C. chloroleuca and C. rosea f. sp. rosea slightly reduced the pathogenicity of Fusarium sp. 1 in the FOSC. Our research is the first to report Clonostachys sp., C. chloroleuca and C. rosea f. sp. rosea causing soybean root rot in Heilongjiang province, China, and that these four Clonostachys species can affect the pathogenicity of Fusarium species, alleviating or aggravating soybean root rot. Seed triacylglycerol (TAG), a major component of vegetable oil, consists of a glycerol esterified with three fatty acids. Vegetable oil has industrial applications and is widely used as edible oil. The increasing demand for plant oils, owing to population growth, it is crucial to enhance the oil content in seeds. We found castor WRINKLED1A (RcWRI1A) and R2R3-type MYB domain protein 306 (RcMYB306) which have homology with Arabidopsis WRI1 (AtWRI1) and AtMYB96 which regulate genes involved in fatty acid and TAG synthesis, respectively. These castor genes were separately and jointly overexpressed using seed-specific promoters in an oil crop, camelina (Camelina sativa). Overexpression of RcWRI1A, RcMYB306, or RcWRI1A + RcMYB306 increased the total seed oil content in camelina. However, this increase was not significantly different from that observed during the overexpression of RcWRI1A or/and RcMYB306. RcWRI1A overexpression increased the fatty acid content, including 16:0, 18:2, 18:3. Contrastingly, RcMYB306 overexpression increased the 18:1, 18:2, 18:3, 20:0 and 20:1 fatty acid. In the RcWRI1A + RcMYB306 lines, changes in fatty acid composition demonstrated the combined effects of these transcription factors. Declining natural pollinator populations are a potential threat to global food supplies. Mass flowering summer annual oilseeds can provide much needed crop diversity and floral resources to support pollinator communities. We evaluated how managing planting date affects floral phenology, floral accumulation (flower coverage time × flower area), pollinator visitation, pollinator diversity and yield of nine oilseed crops. Borage (Borago officinalis L.), calendula (Calendula officinalis L.), crambe (Crambe abyssinica Hochst), cuphea (Cuphea viscosissima Jacq. × Cuphea lanceolata W. T. Aiton), echium (Echium plantagineum L.), flax (Linum usitatissimum L.), spring camelina (Camelina sativa (L.) Crantz), spring canola (Brassica napus L.) and sunflower [Helianthus annuus L.] were grown in Morris, Minnesota during the summers of 2013 and 2014. Each crop was planted on a “standard” planting date of mid‐May and additional planting dates of early May, early June and early July. Shifting planting dates affected flowering phenology, floral accumulation, pollinator visitation and crop yield. Later planting dates led to later onset of flowering for all crops and affected total floral accumulation for crambe, cuphea and echium. Pollinator visitations changed with planting date and were generally greater with the later planting dates. At least two of the four planting dates supported high yield for each crop. The ability to maintain high crop yield across a window of planting dates affords growers management options for their fields and can be used to design complementary resource pairing and improve pollinator health through crop diversification and management. Introduction: Phosphorus nutrition and hormone concentration both affect crop yield formation. Ascertaining the interaction of phosphorus and GA3 has a synergistic effect on the grain yield and phosphorus utilization efficiency of oilseed flax in dryland. It is extremely important for improving grain yield and phosphorus utilization efficiency. Methods: A field experiment was conducted in 2019 and 2020 at the Dingxi Oil Crops Test Station to investigated the effects of phosphorus, gibberellin (GA3), and their interaction on the grain yield and phosphorus-utilization efficiency of oilseed flax plants. Phosphorus fertilizerwas applied at three levels (0, 67.5, 135 kg P2O5·ha-1) and GA3 was also sprayed at three concentrations (0, 15, and 30 mg·L-1). Results: The results showed that application of 67.5 kg P2O5·ha-1 reduced leaves acid phosphatase (ACPase) activity, but increased phosphorus accumulation throughout the growth period, the 1000-kernel weight (TKW), and the number of grains per capsule. Spraying GA3 significantly increased the leaves ACPase activity, phosphorus accumulation after anthesis and its contribution to grain, phosphorus-utilization efficiency, the number of capsules per plant, and TKW. The phosphorus accumulation at the anthesis, kernel, and maturity stages under the treatment of fertilizing 67.5 kg P2O5·ha-1 and spraying 30 mg·L-1 GA3 were increased by 56.06%, 73.51%, and 62.17%, respectively, compared with the control (no phosphorus, no GA3). And the phosphorus accumulation after anthesis and its contribution to grain also increased. 67.5 kg P2O5·ha-1 combined with 30 mg·L-1 GA3 and 135 kg P2O5·ha-1 combined with 15 mg·L-1 GA3 both significantly increased grain yield of oilseed flax, reaching 1696 kg·ha-1 and 1716 kg·ha-1 across two years, respectively. And there was no significant difference between them. However, the former treatment significant increased the apparent utilization rate, agronomic utilization rate, and partial productivity of phosphorus. The interaction between phosphorus and GA3 was significant for grain yield. Conclusion: Therefore, the application of 67.5 kg P2O5·ha-1 in combination with 30 mg·L-1 GA3 is an effective fertilization approach for enhancing oilseed flax growth and grain yield in the experiment region and other similar areas. Castor bean (Ricinus communis L.) is an important oil crop. However, the influence of transposable elements (TEs) on the dynamics of castor bean evolution awaits further investigation. This study explored the role of transposable elements in the genomes of wild castor bean accessions from Ethiopia (Rc039) and Kenya (WT05) as well as in the cultivated variety (Hale). The distribution and composition of repeat sequences in these three lineages exhibited relative consistency, collectively accounting for an average of 36.7% of the genomic sequences. Most TE families displayed consistent lengths and compositions across these lineages. The dynamics of TEs significantly differed from those of genes, showing a lower correlation between the two. Additionally, the distribution of TEs on chromosomes showed an inverse trend compared to genes. Furthermore, Hale may have originated from the ancestor of Rc039. The divergent evolutionary paths of TEs compared to genes indicate the crucial role of TEs in shaping castor bean genetics and evolution, providing insights into the fields of castor bean and plant genomics research. Rapeseed (Brassica napus L.) is one of the main oil crops in the world, and increasing its yield is of great significance for ensuring the safety of edible oil. Presently, improving rapeseed plant architecture is an effective way to increase rapeseed yield with higher planting density. However, the regulatory mechanism of rapeseed plant architecture is poorly understood. In this study, a dwarf rapeseed mutant dwarf08 (df08) is obtained by ethyl methane sulfonate (EMS)-mutagenesis. The decrease in plant height of df08 is mainly caused by the reduction in main inflorescence length and first effective branch height and controlled by a single semi-dominant gene. The hybrid plants (F1) show a semi-dwarf phenotype. Through map-based cloning and transgenic assay, we confirm that the nonsynonymous single nucleotide variant (SNV) (C to T) in BnaC03.BIN2, which is homologous with Arabidopsis (Arabidopsis thaliana) BIN2, is responsible for the dwarfism of df08. BnaC03.BIN2 interacts with BnaBZR1/BES1 and involves in brassi-nosteroids (BRs) signal transduction. Proline to Leucine substitution in 284 (P284L) enhances the protein stability of BnaC03.bin2-D, disrupts BRs signal transduction and affects the expression of genes regulating cell division, leading to dwarfism of df08. This study provides a new insight for the mechanism of rape-seed plant height regulation and creates an elite germplasm that can be used for genetic improvement of rapeseed architecture. Fengdan (Paeonia × suffruticosa Andrews), a woody oil crop abundant in unsaturated fatty acids, notably linolenic acid, holds promise in agriculture. However, selenium deficiency in Chinese soil poses a challenge to its growth. This study investigated the impact of Selenium nanoparticles (SeNPs) on Fengdan's physiological traits and selenium enrichment. Employing a randomized complete block design, five SeNPs spraying levels were tested on Fengdan cultivar Feng Dan. Results showed substantial enhancements in photosynthetic parameters with Se application, particularly at 6.00 g/ha (S3) and 8.25 g/ha (S4). Moreover, Se application improved protein, soluble sugar, and proline solubility, along with increased activities of SOD and POD, while decreased MDA content. Se content in Fengdan organs notably increased with SeNPs concentration, especially in the testa, leaf, and kernel. In conclusion, comprehensive SeNPs fertilizer application positively affected Fengdan's growth, photosynthesis, and selenium enrichment. The most effective treatments were observed at 6.00 g/ha (S3) and 8.25 g/ha (S4). This study offers valuable insights into selenium enrichment strategies for oil crops, stressing the significance of Se application dosage and organ specificity in biological Se enrichment. The relationship between meteorological factors and agricultural production in China was analyzed using statistical methods based on daily national meteorological data in the spring of 2024. The results showed that the national average temperature in the spring (March-May) was 12.1°C, 1.4°C higher than the same period from 1961 to 2020 and the maximum value since 1961. The national average precipitation was 156.2mm, which was 18.9mm more than the same period from 1961 to 2020. The national average sunshine hours was 635.7h, 12.6h less than the same period from 1961 to 2020. In the northern winter wheat region, the sunshine hours, heat condition, and soil moisture content were suitable, and the meteorological conditions were generally favorable for the growth and production of winter wheat. In the most areas of the spring sowing areas in northern China, the water and heat conditions were favorable, which was suitable for crop sowing and seedling emergence. Spring sowing progress was faster than that in 2023 and the seedlings were growing well. The frequent rainy weather in the south led to waterlogging in some low-lying cropland, affected the growth and development of rapeseed and the early rice fields in some areas affected by heavy rainfall were flooded for a short time and the corn appeared to lodging. In southern Sichuan and central and eastern Yunnan, the precipitation had been less since last winter, and drought was heavier in some areas, which was unfavorable to the production of grain and oil crops in summer harvest and the growth of spring sown crops at the seedling stage. One of the most important oil crops in the world, sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.), is recognized to help in soil phytoremediation. Heavy metal (HM) contamination is one of the most abiotic challenges that may affect the growth and productivity of such an important crop plant. We studied the influence of HM-contaminated soils on metal homeostasis and the potential hypertolerance mechanisms in two sunflower Egyptian cultivars (V120 and S53). Both cultivars accumulated significantly higher cadmium concentrations in their roots compared to their shoots during Cd and Zn/Cd treatments. Higher root concentrations of 121 mg g−1 dry weight (DW) and 125 mg g−1 DW were measured in V120 plants compared to relatively lower values of 111 mg g−1 DW and 105 mg g−1 DW in the roots of S53 plants, respectively. Cadmium contamination significantly upregulated the expression of heavy metal ATPases (HaHMA4) in the shoots of V120 plants. On the other hand, their roots displayed a notable expression of HaHMA3. This study indicates that V120 plants accumulated and sequestered Cd in their roots. Therefore, it is advised to cultivate the V120 cultivar in areas contaminated with heavy metals as it is a promising Cd phytoremediator. The current study confirms and provides new insights into the low Cd and Zn concentration responses of two cultivars of Helianthus annuus as potential HM phytoremediators. HMA3 and HMA4 mediated both root sequestration and reduced root-to-shoot translocation rates. Moreover, high CAT and POX activities may reduce oxidative damage and enhance plant tolerance. The V120 showed higher levels of Cd accumulation in its roots and could be a promising cultivar for the phytoremediation of this heavy metal. This work recalls that Cd tolerance is a trait that may vary among cultivars of the same species and should be taken into consideration in the phytomanagement of heavy metals in contaminated soils. The intercropping of winter oilseed rape with frost-sensitive service plants can provide a diversity of services including weed control and N supply for oilseed rape. This practice started to be adopted by farmers and has therefore become one of the most popular intercropping in Western Europe. However, in Switzerland, such intercropping leads to contrasting yields. The growth of service plants and the benefits they provide have also been found to be variable. The factors explaining these variabilities remain unclear. Our study aimed to better understand this variability under a temperate climate thanks to the regional agronomic diagnosis framework. In this study, we first investigated the main factors explaining this variability and then aimed to rank them to identify ways to better manage such intercropping systems. A network of 28 farmers' fields planted with winter oilseed rape intercropped with service plant mixtures was studied. Farmers' practices were diverse in terms of specific composition of the service plant mixture, pest management, and fertilization. We observed that the growth of oilseed rape and service plants in fall was highly variable. We determined that in late fall, the main drivers of the service plant mixture dry weight were specific composition of the mixture and precipitation. The introduction of buckwheat in the service plant mixture enhanced its late fall biomass. The oilseed rape grain yields ranged from 0.4 to 5.0 t ha−1 and were lower than that of the local reference in 75% of the fields. This was mainly explained by insect pest damage in spring due to a very limited use of insecticide in our field network combined with a lack of alternative pest management strategies. Lavender (Lavandula spp.) is one of the most widely grown essential oil crops in the world. This study aimed to determine the nuclear DNA contents using flow cytometry, pollen viability using TTC (2,3,5-Triphenyl Tetrazolium Chloride) and IKI (Iodine Potassium Iodide) tests, pollen production quantities using hemacytometric method, and seed retention rates per spike and flower of lavender (L. angustifolia var. Raya) and lavandin (L. intermedia var. Super) grown under ecological conditions in Isparta province of Turkey. The nuclear DNA contents were 2.11 and 2.54 pg 2C-1, respectively in the lavender and lavandin cultivar. The flowers of the lavender cultivar produced abundant pollen grains (average 5800 pollen per flower and 1450 pollen per anther) with high viability (60.65-65.05%) and seed retention rate per spike (91.57% on average). The lavandin cultivar, which had very low pollen viability (1.08-3.32%) and pollen grains (average of 2350 pollen per flower and 587.5 pollen per anther) gave very low seed retention rates per spike (0.60% on average). While each flower had four ovaries with the potential to produce four nutlets, lavandin flowers produced only trace numbers (0.15% on average) of seeds. As a result, the lavandin cultivar had more nuclear DNA content, longer stem and spike, smaller size but more numerous flowers, less and lighter anthers, lower pollen grains and viability, and vey few inviabile seeds compared to the lavender cultivar. Sesame, a prized oil crop, is acknowledged for its distinctive aroma, health benefits, and copious antioxidants, including sesamin and sesamol. Despite the importance of features like wrinkled leaf and pollen sterility in sesame breeding, scant research into the former impedes progress in cultivation and production. This study endeavors to illuminate the etiology of wrinkled leaves in sesame by probing agronomic and biochemical factors like hydration, nutrient makeup, antioxidant enzymes, and hormones. The investigation found substantial disparities between mutant wrinkled leaves and normal ones; the mutants exhibited heightened water content (86.60% vs 84.99%), augmented dry leaf weight, greater stomata density per unit area (174.58 vs 146.32 cm–2), and a significantly amplified carotenoid content by 27.5%. The study deduced that deficient gibberellic acid (GA3) production in mutant leaves during the seedling stage (< 0.005 ng g−1) restricts leaf elongation, causing wrinkles. Moreover, abnormal auxin (IAA) production during the seedling stage (< 8.57 ng g−1) and deficient jasmonic acid (JA) in both central and flat leaves (< 12.0 ng g−1) were associated with wrinkling. Furthermore, excessive late-stage GA3 production (> 0.041 ng g−1) led to persistent wrinkling and postponed maturity. This research, the first of its kind, elucidates the biochemical origins of sesame's wrinkled leaf formation, offering insights into the mechanisms of this trait and potentially facilitating the creation of new sterile lines and endorsement of sesame as a fresh-leaf vegetable. Oilseed rape (Brassica napus) is a crucial global oil crop. It is generally cultivated in rotation with rice in southern China's Yangtze River Basin, where the wet soil and residue retention after rice harvest significantly hinder its seedling establishment. Hence, this study developed a strip-tillage seeder for oilseed rape seeding following rice harvest. Additionally, seedling establishment, soil infiltration and evaporation post-seeding, soil moisture change, oilseed yield, and weed occurrence under strip tillage (ST) were compared with conventional shallow rotary-tillage (SR) and deep rotary-tillage (DR) seeding practices. Compared to SR and DR, the results demonstrated that ST had a higher seeding efficiency and 53.8% and 80.2% lower energy consumption, respectively. ST also enhanced seedling growth and oilseed yield formation more effectively than the competitor tillage treatments, with an oilseed yield increase exceeding 6%. Additionally, ST improved water infiltration and reduced soil water evaporation, resulting in higher topsoil (0–20 cm) moisture during the critical growth stages. Furthermore, ST reduced soil disturbance, significantly decreasing the density of the dominant weed, Polypogon fugax. Overall, ST seeding technology has the potential to improve the productivity of oilseed rape in rice–oilseed rape rotation systems, and its yield superiority is mainly due to seedling establishment improvement and soil moisture adjustment. Yield prediction is an important agriculture management for crop policy making. In recent years, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and spectral sensor technology have been widely used in crop production. This study aims to evaluate the ability of UAVs equipped with spectral sensors to predict oilseed rape yield. In an experiment, RGB and hyperspectral images were captured using a UAV at the seedling (S1), budding (S2), flowering (S3), and pod (S4) stages in oilseed rape plants. Canopy reflectance and spectral indices of oilseed rape were extracted and calculated from the hyperspectral images. After correlation analysis and principal component analysis (PCA), input spectral indices were screened to build yield prediction models using random forest regression (RF), multiple linear regression (MLR), and support vector machine regression (SVM). The results showed that UAVs equipped with spectral sensors have great potential in predicting crop yield at a large scale. Machine learning approaches such as RF can improve the accuracy of yield models in comparison with traditional methods (e.g., MLR). The RF-based training model had the highest determination coefficient (R2) (0.925) and lowest relative root mean square error (RRMSE) (5.91%). In testing, the MLR-based model had the highest R2 (0.732) and lowest RRMSE (11.26%). Oil palm (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) is a typical tropical oil crop with a temperature of 26–28 °C, providing approximately 35% of the total world's vegetable oil. Growth and productivity are significantly affected by low-temperature stress, resulting in inhibited growth and substantial yield losses. To comprehend the intricate molecular mechanisms underlying the response and acclimation of oil palm under low-temperature stress, multi-omics approaches, including metabolomics, proteomics, and transcriptomics, have emerged as powerful tools. This comprehensive review aims to provide an in-depth analysis of recent advancements in multi-omics studies on oil palm under low-temperature stress, including the key findings from omics-based research, highlighting changes in metabolite profiles, protein expression, and gene transcription, as well as including the potential of integrating multi-omics data to reveal novel insights into the molecular networks and regulatory pathways involved in the response to low-temperature stress. This review also emphasizes the challenges and prospects of multi-omics approaches in oil palm research, providing a roadmap for future investigations. Overall, a better understanding of the molecular basis of the response of oil palm to low-temperature stress will facilitate the development of effective breeding and biotechnological strategies to improve the crop's resilience and productivity in changing climate scenarios. Introduction: The African oil palm (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) is the predominant oil crop in the world. In addition to triacylglycerols, crude palm oil (CPO) extracted from the mesocarp of the fruits, contains high amounts of provitamin A (carotenes) and vitamin E (tocochromanols). Because of their unsaturated nature, the carotenes are prone to oxidation and therefore are in part limiting for the shelf life of CPO. Results: In the present study, a wild Oil Palm tree (C59) from Cameroon was identified that lacks α-tocopherol and α-tocotrienol and instead accumulates the respective γ forms, suggesting that the activity of γ-tocopherol methyltransferase (VTE4) was affected. Sequencing of the VTE4 locus in the genome of plant C59 identified a G/C polymorphism that causes the exchange of a highly conserved tryptophan at position 290 with serine. The W290S exchange renders the VTE4 enzyme inactive, as shown after expression in Escherichia coli and Arabidopsis thaliana. The oxidative stability of carotenes in the mesocarp of the wild palm C59 was enhanced compared with control accessions. Furthermore, supplementation of commercial palm oil with different tocochromanols showed that γ-tocotrienol exerts a stronger effect during the protection of carotenes against oxidation than α-tocotrienol. Methods: A tree with unusual toochromanol composition was identified by HPLC screening of the mesocarp of wild trees. Polymorphisms in a candidate gene were identified by DNA sequencing. The candidate protein was heterologously expressed in Escherichia coli coli and Arabidopsis thaliana to test for enzyme activity. Oxidative stability of the CPO was studied by following carotene degradation over time. The increasing human population and food shortage are fueling the demand for alternative feed resources for animals not meant for human consumption. Oil seeds and their derivatives are suitable options to meet the escalating global demand for animal feed proteins; camelina is one of them. Camelina sativa (CS), an ancient oilseed crop belonging to the Brassicaceae family, is known for its resistance to drought and cold, as well as its various uses for meal, oil, and other products. However, it also has some anti-nutritional factors (ANF) that can limit its use as animal feed. These ANFs can be reduced by various methods, such as enzyme addition, heat treatment, fermentation, or genetic engineering. CS and its by-products can affect animal metabolism, especially lipid metabolism and hormone levels, and can also improve the fat profile of meat and milk products, making them more suitable for human consumption and health. CS and its by-products achieved weight gain and protected dietary PUFAs, but decreased bio-hydrogenation intermediates. Small ruminants fed CS-supplemented diets produced meat with a suitable fat profile for human consumption. Feeding with CS seeds and derivatives decreased milk fat concentration, yield, and fat-corrected milk. Camelina forage, however, increased the milk fat percentage. The effects of CS and its by-products on milk fatty acid composition were contradictory. CS meals may improve the composition of milk products, making them healthier for humans. Summary: Triacylglycerols (TAG), accumulate within lipid droplets (LD), predominantly surrounded by OLEOSINs (OLE), that protect TAG from hydrolysis. We tested the hypothesis that identifying and removing degradation signals from OLE would promote its abundance, preventing TAG degradation and enhancing TAG accumulation.We tested whether mutating potential ubiquitin‐conjugation sites in a previously reported improved Sesamum indicum OLE (SiO) variant, o3‐3 Cys‐OLE (SiCO herein), would stabilize it and increase its lipogenic potential. SiCOv1 was created by replacing all five lysines in SiCO with arginines. Separately, six cysteine residues within SiCO were deleted to create SiCOv2. SiCOv1 and SiCOv2 mutations were combined to create SiCOv3.Transient expression of SiCOv3 in Nicotiana benthamiana increased TAG by two‐fold relative to SiCO. Constitutive expression of SiCOv3 or SiCOv5, containing the five predominant TAG‐increasing mutations from SiCOv3, in Arabidopsis along with mouse DGAT2 (mD) increased TAG accumulation by 54% in leaves and 13% in seeds compared with control lines coexpressing SiCO and mD.Lipid synthesis rates increased, consistent with an increase in lipid sink strength that sequesters newly synthesized TAG, thereby relieving the constitutive BADC‐dependent inhibition of ACCase reported for WT Arabidopsis. Sunflower (Helianthus annuus) is an important oil crop, ranking behind soybean, peanut, and rapeseed in terms of planting area in China. Throughout its cultivation, sunflower is susceptible to various diseases that can significantly reduce its seed yield. Among them, Fusarium species pose a major threat to numerous crops. The accurate identification of Fusarium species responsible for specific diseases is crucial for developing effective control measures. In Inner Mongolia, sunflower disk rot (SDR) has been observed in various sunflower fields, with an average infection rate of approximately 8.50%. The infection rate can reach up to 11.67% in certain highly susceptible cultivars. Samples of diseased sunflower receptacles were collected from different locations, and Koch's postulates were employed to identify the causal agent. The results confirmed Fusarium verticillioides as the pathogen responsible for SDR. Fungicide toxicity tests were conducted, screening six fungicides for efficacy against F. verticillioides. Fludioxonil and Flutolanil were identified as the most effective, with EC50 values of 0.05 µg/mL (R = 0.9825) and 0.96 µg/mL (R = 0.9964), respectively. This is the first report of SDR caused by F. verticillioides, and it will alert sunflower researchers to include SDR in the disease list, so as to control sunflower diseases with integrated management strategies successfully. Tenuazonic acid (TeA), usually found in cereals, fruits, vegetables, oil crops, and their products, was classified as one of the highest public health problems by EFSA as early as 2011, but it has still not been regulated by legislation due to the limited toxicological profile. Moreover, it has been reported that the coexistence of TeA and patulin (PAT) has been found in certain agricultural products; however, there are no available data about the combined toxicity. Considering that the gastrointestinal tract is the physiological barrier of the body, it would be the first target site at which exogenous substances interact with the body. Thus, we assessed the combined toxicity (cell viability, ROS, CAT, and ATP) in Caco-2 cells using mathematical modeling (Chou-Talalay) and explored mechanisms using non-targeted metabolomics and molecular biology methods. It revealed that the co-exposure of TeA + PAT (12.5 μg/mL + 0.5 μg/mL) can induce enhanced toxic effects and more severe oxidative stress. Mechanistically, the lipid and amino acid metabolisms and PI3K/AKT/FOXO signaling pathways were mainly involved in the TeA + PAT-induced synergistic toxic effects. The sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.) is one of the most essential oil crops in the world. Several component traits, including flowering time, plant height, stem diameter, seed weight, and kernel weight, determine sunflower seed and oil yield. Although the genetic mechanisms governing the variation of these yield-related traits have been studied using various approaches, genome-wide association studies (GWAS) have not been widely applied to sunflowers. In this study, a set of 342 sunflower accessions was evaluated in 2019 and 2020 using an incomplete randomized block design, and GWAS was conducted utilizing two complementary approaches: the mixed linear model (MLM) and the fixed and random model circulating probability unification (farmCPU) model by fitting 226,779 high-quality SNPs. As a result, GWAS identified a number of trait-associated SNPs. The sunflower is a significant oil crop that can be cultivated in various environmental conditions. Due to the changing climate, the pathogen profile has been altered, posing a threat to sunflower production. Among the various threats, charcoal rot, caused by the soil-borne fungus Macrophomina phaseolina (Tassi) Goid, is one of the most significant pathogen. This study aimed to investigate the resistance of 80 sunflower inbred lines to this pathogen using two inoculation methods and naturally infested area under field conditions in two years, 2019 and 2020. The results showed that both inoculation methods and occurrence of disease in naturally infested area (DNI) effectively differentiated between resistant and susceptible inbred lines, with the toothpick method being the most effective. Thirteen inbred lines were resistant according to all inoculation methods, and the others were moderately resistant moderately susceptible or susceptible regarding to inoculation method. The study identified five inbred lines (Ha 74, L1, LIV 10, MA SC 2 and PB 21) as the most resistant, making them important sources for breeding sunflower hybrids resistant to M. phaseolina. Their resistance was confirmed in 2020, highlighting their potential to combat the impact of climate change on sunflower production. This study represents a valuable insight into the control of M. phaseolina using sunflower resistant genotypes, especially since resistance findings have been lacking in other plant species. Background: Sesame is an ancient oil crop that has been cultivated for centuries. It is an important source worldwide for food, industry and edible oil. Sesame plants are attacked by many pathogens during different stages of growth. Macrophomina phaseolina is considerable one of the most dangerous fungi that attacks sesame plants during their different growth stages. The impact of Streptomyces violaceoruber and Streptomyces hirsutus in comparison with Topsin-M fungicide on damping-off and charcoal rot caused by M. phaseolina and also on the growth of sesame plants was studied. Results: In general, S. hirsutus was effective more than S. violaceoruber. S. hirsutus reduced the linear growth of M. phaseolina in vitro by 70.83%, while reduction with S. violaceoruber reached 53.89%. S. hirsutus isolate reduced pre-, post-emergence damping-off, and charcoal rot incidence by 58.3, 56.6, and 50%, under greenhouse conditions, in 2021 growing season, while the percentage reduction of disease was 43, 56.4, and 71.2% for 2021 and 2022 growing seasons, respectively, under field conditions at Fayoum Governorate, Egypt. Streptomyces treatments increased concentration of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium (NPK) in plant leaves, seed yield, and seed oil concentration more than Topsin-M treatment and untreated plants. Exploring the evolution of the production patterns of major crops and their driving factors can provide new ideas to ensure the security of supply of important agricultural products. This study selected four major crop types in Jilin Province—grain, oil crop, vegetable, and fruit—as research subjects. Using the center of gravity migration model, spatial autocorrelation analysis, and comparative advantage index, the spatial and temporal evolution of these crops' production patterns from 2000 to 2020 was examined. A geographically weighted regression model was employed to analyze driving factors. The results showed that the planting area of grain was the most extensive; the percentage of production of grain, oil crop, and fruit increased to different degrees; the unit area yield of the four crops increased. The centers of gravity of all four crops' productions were located in the central-northwestern region of Jilin Province. The global Moran's I was positive for all four crops' productions. The comparative advantage characteristics of the four crops were closely related to the natural geographical environment. Grain, vegetable, and fruit production were significantly and positively correlated with fertilizer application, and the most significant factor affecting oil crop production was land input intensity. Peanut is an important oil crop and cash crop, with a wide range of applications in many fields such as the food industry, light industry, and chemical industry. Mechanized shelling is a necessary part of the post-production processing of peanuts, and it is also the key to determining the quality of peanut products. Reducing shelling damage is an effective way to improve the quality and comprehensive benefits of peanut products. Consequently, it is of great significance to strengthen the research on damage reduction in mechanized peanut-shelling. China is a large peanut producer, but the research on mechanized shelling started relatively late, and the existing technology is not compatible with the high-quality shelling requirements of farmers. This paper reviews the status of mechanized peanut-shelling technology, compares the technical characteristics and equipment development of the world's important peanut producing countries, it summarizes and proposes the suggestions to reduce loss from the aspects of varieties, agronomy, technology, and technical equipment; further deepen innovative research; and strengthen the construction of peanut-shelling socialized service systems. It is expected to provide reference for effectively reducing damage and improving quality of China's mechanized shelling, and promoting the sustainable development of peanut shelling industry. Oil peony is an important oil crop that is primarily sown by using artificial methods at present. Its seeder encounters the problems of low efficiency of seeding that significantly limits the highly efficient mechanized production of high-quality peony oil. In this study, Fengdan white oil peony seeds were used as the research object and repose angle as the response value to establish a discrete element model (DEM) and parameter calibration. The range of parameters of oil peony seeds was first obtained through an experiment, and their repose angle was obtained by an inclinometer. A three-dimensional DEM of oil peony seeds was then established. The Plackett–Burman (PB) test was utilized to screen the parameters that had a significant influence on the repose angle, and the steepest ascent (SA) test was applied to determine their optimum range of testing. Following this, based on Box–Behnken (BBD) test results, a second-order regression model between the important parameters and the repose angle was constructed. Finally, the absolute minimum difference between simulated and measured repose angles was utilized as the objective of optimization to obtain the following optimum combination of parameters: The values of the seed–steel collision recovery coefficient (CRC), seed–seed static friction coefficient (SFC), seed–steel SFC, and seed–seed rolling friction coefficient (RFC) were 0.704, 0.324, 0.335, and 0.045, respectively. This optimal combination of parameters was confirmed through simulations, and the error between simulated and measured repose angles was only 0.67%, indicating that the calibrated DEM of oil peony seeds was reliable. Rapeseed Brassica napus is one of the oilseed plants of interest to farmers in Iran. Cabbage waxy aphid Brevicoryne brassicae is one of the important pests of rapeseed all of the world and one of the main methods to protect plants against aphids is using resistant genotypes. In order to evaluate the resistance of twenty-one canola genotypes to cabbage waxy aphid, a study was conducted (at 27.5 ± 2ºC, 60 ± 10% RH, 14L: 10D) under greenhouse conditions. To evaluate canola genotypes antibiosis, the genotypes were planted in pots in 10 replications based on a completely random design. Net reproductive rate (R0), intrinsic increase rate (rm), finite increase rate (λ), mean generation time (T), doubling time (D) of the cabbage waxy aphid, and pre-mature period length were calculated in greenhouse conditions. The results of the variance analysis of studied data showed statistically significant difference at least at the probability level of five percentage (P ≤0.05). The intrinsic increase rate of cabbage aphid population on Geronimo and Okapi genotypes had the highest and lowest values of 0.287 and 0.215 (female/female/day), respectively. Okapi and Geronimo genotypes had the lowest (16.5 female/female/generation) and the highest net reproductive rate of cabbage aphid (36.75 female/female/generation), respectively. In this experiment, Geronimo was observed as the most sensitive and Opera and Okapi as the most resistant genotypes in comparison with other experimental genotypes. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: The Prunus sibirica seeds with rich oils has great utilization, but contain amygdalin that can be hydrolyzed to release toxic HCN. Thus, how to effectively reduce seed amygdalin content of P. sibirica is an interesting question. Mandelonitrile is known as one key intermediate of amygdalin metabolism, but which mandelonitrile lyase (MDL) family member essential for its dissociation destined to low amygdalin accumulation in P. sibirica seeds still remains enigmatic. An integration of our recent 454 RNA-seq data, amygdalin and mandelonitrile content detection, qRT-PCR analysis and function determination is described as a critical attempt to determine key MDL and to highlight its function in governing mandelonitrile catabolism with low amygdalin accumulation in Prunus sibirica seeds for better developing edible oil and biodiesel in China. Results: To identify key MDL and to unravel its function in governing seed mandelonitrile catabolism with low amygdalin accumulation in P. sibirica. Global identification of mandelonitrile catabolism-associated MDLs, integrated with the across-accessions/developing stages association of accumulative amount of amygdalin and mandelonitrile with transcriptional level of MDLs was performed on P. sibirica seeds of 5 accessions to determine crucial MDL2 for seed mandelonitrile catabolism of P. sibirica. MDL2 gene was cloned from the seeds of P. sibirica, and yeast eukaryotic expression revealed an ability of MDL2 to specifically catalyze the dissociation of mandelonitrile with the ideal values of Km (0.22 mM) and Vmax (178.57 U/mg). A combination of overexpression and mutation was conducted in Arabidopsis. Overexpression of PsMDL2 decreased seed mandelonitrile content with an increase of oil accumulation, upregulated transcript of mandelonitrile metabolic enzymes and oil synthesis enzymes (involving FA biosynthesis and TAG assembly), but exhibited an opposite situation in mdl2 mutant, revealing a role of PsMDL2-mediated regulation in seed amygdalin and oil biosynthesis. The PsMDL2 gene has shown as key molecular target for bioengineering high seed oil production with low amygdalin in oilseed plants. Conclusions: This work presents the first integrated assay of genome-wide identification of mandelonitrile catabolism-related MDLs and the comparative association of transcriptional level of MDLs with accumulative amount of amygdalin and mandelonitrile in the seeds across different germplasms and developmental periods of P. sibirica to determine MDL2 for mandelonitrile dissociation, and an effective combination of PsMDL2 expression and mutation, oil and mandelonitrile content detection and qRT-PCR assay was performed to unravel a mechanism of PsMDL2 for controlling amygdalin and oil production in P. sibirica seeds. Background: The herbaceous peony (Paeonia lactiflora Pall.) is extensively cultivated in China due to its root being used as a traditional Chinese medicine known as 'Radix Paeoniae Alba'. In recent years, it has been discovered that its seeds incorporate abundant unsaturated fatty acids, thereby presenting a potential new oilseed plant. Surprisingly, little is known about the full-length transcriptome sequencing of Paeonia lactiflora, limiting research into its gene function and molecular mechanisms. Results: A total of 484,931 Reads of Inserts (ROI) sequences and 1,455,771 full-Length non-chimeric reads (FLNC) sequences were obtained for CDS prediction, TF analysis, SSR analysis and lncRNA identification. In addition, gene function annotation and gene structure analysis were performed. A total of 4905 transcripts were related to lipid metabolism biosynthesis pathway, belonging to 28 enzymes. We use these data to identify 10 oleosin (OLE) and 5 diacylglycerol acyltransferase (DGAT) gene members after de-redundancy. The analysis of physicochemical properties and secondary structure showed them similarity in gene family respectively. The phylogenetic analysis showed that the distribution of OLE and DGAT family members was roughly the same as that of Arabidopsis. Quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT–PCR) analyses revealed expression changes in different seed development stages, and showed a trend of increasing and then decreasing. Conclusion: In summary, these results provide new insights into the molecular mechanism of triacylglycerol (TAG) biosynthesis and storage during the seedling stage in Paeonia lactiflora. It provides theoretical references for selecting and breeding oil varieties and understanding the functions of oil storage as well as lipid synthesis related genes in Paeonia lactiflora. TGA transcription factors belong to Group D of the bZIP transcription factors family and play vital roles in the stress response of plants. Brassica napus is an oil crop with rich economic value. However, a systematic analysis of TGA gene family members in B. napus has not yet been reported. In this study, we identified 39 full-length TGA genes in B. napus, renamed TGA1~TGA39. Thirty-nine BnTGA genes were distributed on 18 chromosomes, mainly located in the nucleus, and differences were observed in their 3D structures. Phylogenetic analysis showed that 39 BnTGA genes could be divided into five groups. The BnTGA genes in the same group had similar structure and motif compositions, and all the BnTGA genes had the same conserved bZIP and DOG1 domains. Phylogenetic and synteny analysis showed that the BnTGA genes had a close genetic relationship with the TGA genes of the Brassica juncea, and BnTGA11 and BnTGA29 may play an important role in evolution. In addition, qRT-PCR revealed that three genes (BnTGA14/17/23) showed significant changes in eight experimental materials after drought treatment. Meanwhile, it can be inferred from the results of drought treatment on different varieties of rapeseed that the stress tolerance of parental rapeseed can be transmitted to the offspring through hybridization. Increasing canola yield, a winter oil crop, is important for its cultivation in the product pattern of the Mediterranean climate zone. Therefore, a study was planned to determine the impact of foliar application zinc (Zn), iron (Fe) and Zn + Fe combination on the yield and quality of canola. The experiment was arranged in a Randomized Complete Block Design with four replications. Zinc (3.0% v/v), iron (7.5% w/w), and their combination were foliar sprayed at rosette and flowering stages. The highest number of siliques per plant, number of seeds per silique, seed index, and seed yield were recorded in the Fe application. Zn + Fe combination significantly increased the oil and protein content, whereas Zn application exhibited higher oil and protein yield performance. Flax (Linum usitatissimum L.), as the earliest oil and fiber crop, is a model plant for genetic inferences of plant domestication processes involving multiple domestication events. However, a puzzle has emerged from several genetic studies, as dehiscent cultivated flax is genetically more related to its progenitor pale flax (L. bienne Mill.), and winter cultivated flax is well mixed with oil or fiber cultivated flax, while capsular dehiscence and winter hardiness are the major characteristics of pale flax. For this, a comparative analysis was conducted with 16 Linum samples representing pale flax and four domestication groups of cultivated flax (oil, fiber, winter, and dehiscent) using 454 pyrosequencing, Sanger resequencing and microsatellite data. It was found that the genomic sampling of genetic variants from the three applied methods yielded similar genetic information on pale flax and four groups of cultivated flax. The revealed genetic relationships did not show significant departures from the previous findings, but instead supported an early, independent domestication of a primitive flax lineage for oil use, followed by a subsequent flax domestication process with multiple domestication events for capsular dehiscence, oil, fiber and winter hardiness. Domestication on capsular dehiscence occurred earlier than domestication on winter hardiness. Domestication on winter hardiness was more complicated than domestication on capsular dehiscence. Intercropping is a vital cropping system that can create a conducive growth environment for crops and enhance land productivity. Tiger nuts (Cyperus esculentus L.) have high oil content and are adaptable to various soil types, making them a promising new oil crop with significant development potential. This study evaluated the plant height, leaf area, tiller numbers, biomass, land equivalent ratio (LER), and root morphological characteristics of tiger nuts. The agronomic traits and root distribution of tiger nuts and other crops were further investigated to achieve the goal of high yield for tiger nuts. Seven intercropping systems were implemented in the experiment: maize–tiger nut intercropping (MT), soybean–tiger nut intercropping (ST), cotton–tiger nut intercropping (CT), monoculture tiger nut (T), monoculture maize (M), monoculture soybean (S), and monoculture cotton (C). The results indicated that under different planting systems, the agronomic traits of tiger nuts in MT and ST modes were superior, with plant height and tiller numbers increasing by 7.6% to 11.6%. However, the plant height and Soil Plant Analysis Development (SPAD) values in CT mode were slightly lower than in T mode. Additionally, intercropping reduced the leaf area by 6.2% to 37.9%. Root development was more pronounced in intercropping modes, with the ST mode showing the most significant improvement, increasing the 0–20 cm root length density (RLD) by 12.2% to 45.7%. Therefore, each of the three intercropping modes demonstrated distinct advantages. The LER of the intercropping systems ranged from 1.10 to 1.24, enhancing land utilization, with tiger nuts being the dominant species. Compared to monoculture, the ST mode exhibited the best overall effect. Flax (Linum usitatissimum L.) can be grown both as an oil crop and as a fiber crop, and this offers new opportunities when included in the framework of a whole-crop biorefinery, a system in which a range of products are made from portions of grain and straw and in which both of these should be satisfactorily produced. In the present experiment, the effect of flax genotypes (7 varieties), cultivation sites (two locations) and seasons (two years) were tested with a standard randomized complete block design, in search of a compromise for the production performance for both grain and straw, with the aim of reintroducing flax back into the northern Italian environment. Overall, grain yield reaches an average value of about 1.4 t ha−1 (dw), while straw yield reaches 2.77 t ha−1 (dw). The former is strictly dependent on the environmental effects of the growing site and season, while the effect of genotype was not significant. The straw yield also depends on the second-order interaction of the factors analyzed, although the performance of three varieties, Festival, Solal and Linoal, was noteworthy and seemed to respond well in both environments. Sesamum indicum L. (Pedaliaceae) is one of the most economically important oil crops in the world, thanks to the high oil content of its seeds and its nutritional value. It is cultivated all over the world, mainly in Asia and Africa. Well adapted to arid environments, sesame offers a good opportunity as an alternative subsistence crop for farmers in Africa, particularly Niger, to cope with climate change. For the first time, the variation in genome size among 75 accessions of the Nigerien germplasm was studied. The sample was collected throughout Niger, revealing various morphological, biochemical and phenological traits. For comparison, an additional accession from Thailand was evaluated as an available Asian representative. In the Niger sample, the 2C DNA value ranged from 0.77 to 1 pg (753 to 978 Mbp), with an average of 0.85 ± 0.037 pg (831 Mbp). Statistical analysis showed a significant difference in 2C DNA values among 58 pairs of Niger accessions (p-value < 0.05). This significant variation indicates the likely genetic diversity of sesame germplasm, offering valuable insights into its possible potential for climate-resilient agriculture. Our results therefore raise a fundamental question: is intraspecific variability in the genome size of Nigerien sesame correlated with specific morphological and physiological traits? Background: The purpose of the research is to study the features of contamination of dark gray forest soils with heavy metals and to establish the yield of oil cabbage crops as a result of the use of various levels of mineral nutrition in the conditions of the Non-black earth zone of Russia. Methods: The experiments were carried out on the dark gray forest soils of Ryazan region in crops of spring rape, white mustard and gray mustard (Sarepta). Soil sampling to determine HMs was carried out before the experiment. Determination of heavy metals was carried out by atomic absorption spectrometry using a semi-quantitative spectral method on a spectrophotometer in the laboratory of the State Station of the Agrochemical Service "Ryazanskaya" and the laboratories of the university. Result: The studied types and combinations of mineral fertilizers had effect on the growth and development of plants. The effectiveness of the use of mineral nutrition doses proves its high efficiency in studies with oilseed crops in the conditions of the Non-Chernozem zone of Russia. The highest yields, for spring rapeseed (19.3 dt ha-1), for gray mustard (13.7 dt ha-1) and white mustard (12.2 dt ha-1), were observed in the variants with the action of N90-120P60K60. [Objective] The present paper aimed to analyze the spatial-temporal agglomeration changes and driving factors of three major oil crops in China from 2000 to 2020, namely soybean, peanut and rape, so as to provide reference for optimizing the production layout of edible oil crops. [Method] The spatiotemporal agglomeration evolution characteristics and driving factors of soybean, peanut and rape production were analyzed by using the gravity shift model, exploratory spatial data analysis, spatiotemporal geographical weighted regression model and other methods. [Result] (i) The yield of soybean was the highest, followed by peanut, and the yield of rape was the lowest. The yield of soybeans showed a significant fluctuation increase, while the yield of rapeseed and peanut showed a slight fluctuation increase. Soybean production was mainly distributed in Heilongjiang, Inner Mongolia, Henan and Anhui. Peanut production was mainly distributed in Shandong, Henan and Guangdong. Rape production was mainly distributed in Sichuan, Hubei and Hunan. (ii) From 2000 to 2020, the yield agglomeration degree of three oil crops showed a weakening trend, and the high-high accumulation areas of soybean yield were in Heilongjiang and Jilin, and the low-low accumulation area was in Xinjiang; The high-high accumulation areas of peanut yield were in Shandong, Henan and Anhui, and the low-low accumulation area was in Xinjiang; The high-high accumulation areas of rape yield were in Hubei, Anhui and Jiangxi, and the low-low accumulation area was in Inner Mongolia. The production center of soybean moved to the northwest from Tanghai county in Hebei province to Ningcheng county in Inner Mongolia. The production center of peanut was located in Henan province and was moving to- wards the northwest of Henan province; The production center of rapeseed shifted to the southwest from Nanzhang county in Hubei province to Fengjie county in Chongqing. (iii) The driving factors of different oil production had different effects in different provinces. Soybean pro- duction was mainly affected by population density, fertilizer application and GDP growth rate; Peanut production was mainly affected by chemical fertilizer application, total mechanical power and irrigation area; Rapeseed production was mainly affected by population density, urbanization rate and road density. [Conclusion] The production of three main oil crops has obvious spatial agglomeration characteristics, and the influencing factors are different, which are mainly affected by social and economic factors such as chemical fertilizer application. Rapeseed (Brassica napus L.) holds significant commercial value as one of the leading oil crops, with its agronomic features and oil quality being crucial determinants. In this investigation, 73,226 single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) across 95 rapeseed mutant lines induced by gamma rays, alongside the original cultivar ('Tamra'), using genotyping-by-sequencing (GBS) analysis were examined. This study encompassed gene ontology (GO) analysis and a genomewide association study (GWAS), thereby concentrating on agronomic traits (e.g., plant height, ear length, thousand-seed weight, and seed yield) and oil traits (including fatty acid composition and crude fat content). The GO analysis unveiled a multitude of genes with SNP variations associated with cellular processes, intracellular anatomical structures, and organic cyclic compound binding. Through GWAS, we detected 320 significant SNPs linked to both agronomic (104 SNPs) and oil traits (216 SNPs). Notably, two novel candidate genes, Bna.A05p02350D (SFGH) and Bna.C02p22490D (MDN1), are implicated in thousand-seed weight regulation. Additionally, Bna.C03p14350D (EXO70) and Bna.A09p05630D (PI4Kα1) emerged as novel candidate genes associated with erucic acid and crude fat content, respectively. These findings carry implications for identifying superior genotypes for the development of new cultivars. Association studies offer a cost-effective means of screening mutants and selecting elite rapeseed breeding lines, thereby enhancing the commercial viability of this pivotal oil crop. Microgreens are a new, rapidly growing group of foodstuffs. The decorative function of these is often accompanied by their use in traditional dishes. As microgreens are eaten at very early stages, when the development of the epidermis is at its minimum, the bioavailability of minerals will be found to be higher in microgreens then in mature vegetables. So, microgreens can be an excellent functional food, especially for mineral-deficient populations, although they can also be a source of contaminants such as heavy metals or nitrates and nitrites. The purpose of this study was to measure the levels of selected heavy metals (i.e., cadmium, arsenic, lead, chromium, aluminium, zinc, copper, cobalt, molybdenum, manganese, vanadium, boron, antimony, thallium, titanium and strontium), as well as nitrates and nitrites, in microgreens at various stage of vegetation, using uncommon oilseed plants like nigella—Nigella sativa L., safflower—Carthamus tinctorius L., and camelina—Camelina sativa L. The examined microgreens of rare oilseed plants may be a source of contaminants and nitrates. The mineral profile of these plants is mainly determined by their genotype. Microgreens' cultivation involves compliance with safety standards and replicable conditions to guarantee that the highest nutritional value is reached at the lowest possible contaminant level. Strawberry is a food rich in bioactive compounds with great antioxidant potential. However, due to the high incidence of pests that affect crop cultivation, phytosanitary management still lacks control methods for agroecological cultivation. Thus, the present research aimed to evaluate the chemical composition and the potential of the essential oil of the leaves of Piper macedoi in the control of Cerosipha forbesi in laboratory and semi-field conditions. The concentration of essential oil in the leaves of P. macedoi that showed the highest mortality was 2.0 ml/L of oil, with a mortality above 91% under laboratory conditions. A mortality rate of 80% for all concentrations tested was observed after 24 h in all conditions tested. Thus, using essential oil from the leaf of P. macedoi can be a highly viable strategy in managing the aphid C. forbesi since it showed high mortality rates with small doses of oil. Sunflower is one of the four major oil crops in the world. 'Zaoaidatou' (ZADT), the main variety of oil sunflower in the northwest of China, has a short growth cycle, high yield, and high resistance to abiotic stress. However, the ability to tolerate adervesity is limited. Therefore, in this study, we used the retention line of backbone parent ZADT as material to establish its tissue culture and genetic transformation system for new variety cultivating to enhance resistance and yields by molecular breeding. The combination of 0.05 mg/L IAA and 2 mg/L KT in MS was more suitable for direct induction of adventitious buds with cotyledon nodes and the addition of 0.9 mg/L IBA to MS was for adventitious rooting. On this basis, an efficient Agrobacterium tumefaciens-mediated genetic transformation system for ZADT was developed by the screening of kanamycin and optimization of transformation conditions. The rate of positive seedlings reached 8.0%, as determined by polymerase chain reaction (PCR), under the condition of 45 mg/L kanamycin, bacterial density of OD600 0.8, infection time of 30 min, and co-cultivation of three days. Rape (Brassica napus L.; AACC) is an important oil‐bearing crop worldwide. Temperature significantly affects the production of oil crops; however, the mechanisms underlying temperature‐promoted oil biosynthesis remain largely unknown. In this study, we found that a temperature‐sensitive cultivar (O) could accumulate higher seed oil content under low nighttime temperatures (LNT,13°C) compared with a temperature‐insensitive cultivar (S). We performed an in‐depth transcriptome analysis of seeds from both cultivars grown under different nighttime temperatures. We found that low nighttime temperatures induced significant changes in the transcription patterns in the seeds of both cultivars. In contrast, the expression of genes associated with fatty acid and lipid pathways was higher in the O cultivar than in the S cultivar under low nighttime temperatures. Among these genes, we identified 14 genes associated with oil production, especially BnLPP and ACAA1, which were remarkably upregulated in the O cultivar in response to low nighttime temperatures compared to S. Further, a WGCNA analysis and qRT‐PCR verification revealed that these genes were mainly regulated by five transcription factors, WRKY20, MYB86, bHLH144, bHLH95, and NAC12, whose expression was also increased in O compared to S under LNT. These results allowed the elucidation of the probable molecular mechanism of oil accumulation under LNT conditions in the O cultivar. Subsequent biochemical assays verified that BnMYB86 transcriptionally activated BnLPP expression, contributing to oil accumulation. Meanwhile, at LNT, the expression levels of these genes in the O plants were higher than at high nighttime temperatures, DEGs (SUT, PGK, PK, GPDH, ACCase, SAD, KAS II, LACS, FAD2, FAD3, KCS, KAR, ECR, GPAT, LPAAT, PAP, DGAT, STERO) related to lipid biosynthesis were also upregulated, most of which are used in oil accumulation. An extremely important oil crop in the world, Helianthus annuus L. is one of the world's most significant members of the Asteraceae family. The rate and extent of seed germination and agronomic features are consistently affecting by temperature (T) and changes in water potential (ψ). A broad hydrothermal time model with T and ψ components could explain sunflower responses over suboptimal T and ψ. A lab experiment was performed using the HTT model to discover both T and ψ and their interactive effects on sunflower germination and also to figure out the cardinal Ts values. The sunflower seeds were germinated at temperatures (15 °C, 20 °C, 25 °C and 30 °C); each Ts had five constant ψs of 0, 0.3, 0.6, 0.9, and 1.2 MPa via PEG 6000 as osmotic stress inducer. The results revealed that highest germination index was found in seed grown at 20 °C in distilled water (0 MPa) and the lowest at 30 °C with osmotic stress of (− 1.2 MPa). The highest value of germination rate index was found in seed grown at 20 °C in distilled water (0 MPa) and the lowest at 15 °C with an osmotic stress of (− 1.2 MPa). In conclusion, water potential, temperature, and their interactions have a considerable impact on seed germination rate, and other metrics (GI, SVI-I, GRI, GE, SVI-II, and MGT). Seeds sown at 20 °C with zero water potential showed high germination metrics such as GE, GP, GRI, and T50%. The maximum value to TTsub noted at 30 °C in − 0.9 MPa osmotic stress and the minimum value was calculated at 15 °C in − 1.2 MPa osmotic stress. The result of TTsupra recorded highest at 15 °C in controlled group (0 MPa). Moreover, θH was highest at 30 °C in controlled condition (0 MPa) and minimum value was observed at 20 °C under − 1.2 MPa osmotic stress. The value of θHTT were maximum at 30 °C in controlled group (0 MPa) and minimum value was recorded at 15 °C under − 1.2 MPa osmotic potential. SUMMARY: Acyl‐acyl carrier protein (ACP) thioesterases (FAT) hydrolyze acyl‐ACP complexes to release FA in plastids, which ultimately affects FA biosynthesis and profiles. Soybean GmFATA1 and GmFATA2 are homoeologous genes encoding oleoyl‐ACP thioesterases whose role in seed oil accumulation and plant growth has not been defined. Using CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing mutation of Gmfata1 or 2 led to reduced leaf FA content and growth defect at the early seedling stage. In contrast, no homozygous double mutants were obtained. Combined this indicates that GmFATA1 and GmFATA2 display overlapping, but not complete functional redundancy. Combined transcriptomic and lipidomic analysis revealed a large number of genes involved in FA synthesis and FA chain elongation are expressed at reduced level in the Gmfata1 mutant, accompanied by a lower triacylglycerol abundance at the early seedling stage. Further analysis showed that the Gmfata1 or 2 mutants had increased composition of the beneficial FA, oleic acid. The growth defect of Gmfata1 could be at least partially attributed to reduced acetyl‐CoA carboxylase activity, reduced abundance of five unsaturated monogalactosyldiacylglycerol lipids, and altered chloroplast morphology. On the other hand, overexpression of GmFATA in soybean led to significant increases in leaf FA content by 5.7%, vegetative growth, and seed yield by 26.9%, and seed FA content by 23.2%. Thus, overexpression of GmFATA is an effective strategy to enhance soybean oil content and yield. Significance Statement: Our results demonstrated that the positive roles of GmFATA1 and GmFATA2 on soybean growth, seed oil accumulation. We propose that overexpression of GmFATA could be an engineering strategy to enhance soybean oil content and yield.
