Abstract

The present work continues a series of the KEDR measurements of the R value that started in 2010 at the VEPP-4M e+e− collider. By combining new data with our previous results in this energy range we measured the values of Ruds and R at nine center-of-mass energies between 3.08 and 3.72 GeV. The total accuracy is about or better than 2.6% at most of energy points with a systematic uncertainty of about 1.9%. Together with the previous precise R measurement at KEDR in the energy range 1.84–3.05 GeV, it constitutes the most detailed high-precision R measurement near the charmonium production threshold.

Abstract

The product of the electronic width of the ψ(2S) meson and the branching fraction of its decay to the muon pair was measured in the e+e−→ψ(2S)→μ+μ− process using nine data sets corresponding to an integrated luminosity of about 6.5 pb−1 collected with the KEDR detector at the VEPP-4M electron–positron collider:Γee×Bμμ=19.3±0.3±0.5eV. Adding the previous KEDR results on hadronic and leptonic channels, the values of the ψ(2S) electronic width were obtained under two assumptions: either with the assumption of lepton universalityΓee=2.279±0.015±0.042keV or without it, summing up hadronic and three independent leptonic channelsΓee=2.282±0.015±0.042keV. Abstract

Using the KEDR detector at the VEPP-4M e+e− collider, we have determined the values of R at thirteen points of the center-of-mass energy between 1.84 and 3.05 GeV. The achieved accuracy is about or better than 3.9% at most of the energy points with a systematic uncertainty less than 2.4%.

Abstract

Using the KEDR detector at the VEPP-4M e+e− collider, we have measured the values of Ruds and R at seven points of the center-of-mass energy between 3.12 and 3.72 GeV. The total achieved accuracy is about or better than 3.3% at most of energy points with a systematic uncertainty of about 2.1%. At the moment it is the most accurate measurement of R(s) in this energy range.

Abstract

We present the analysis of all KEDR data on the determination of J/ψ and ψ(2S) masses. The data comprise six scans of J/ψ and seven scans of ψ(2S) which were performed at the VEPP-4M e+e− collider in 2002–2008. The beam energy was determined using the resonance depolarization method. The detector and accelerator conditions during scans were very different that increases the reliability of the averaged results. The analysis accounts for partial correlations of systematic uncertainties on the masses. The following mass values were obtained:MJ/ψ=3096.900±0.002±0.006 MeV,Mψ(2S)=3686.099±0.004±0.009 MeV. These results supersede our previous measurements published in 2003 and 2012.

Abstract

Using the inclusive photon spectrum based on a data sample collected at the J/ψ peak with the KEDR detector at the VEPP-4M e+e− collider, we measured the rate of the radiative decay J/ψ→γηc as well as ηc mass and width. Taking into account an asymmetric photon lineshape we obtained Γγηc0=2.98±0.18−0.33+0.15keV, Mηc=2983.5±1.4−3.6+1.6MeV/c2, Γηc=27.2±3.1−2.6+5.4MeV. Keywords: Charmonium, Radiative decays

Abstract

The Siberian ring source of photons (SKIF) is a new 3 GeV fourth-generation synchrotron light source being developed by the Budker Institute of Nuclear Physics (BINP). A beam loss monitoring system is necessary to ensure its reliable commissioning and operation. Two types of beam loss monitors will be installed in the SKIF: 5 fiber-based Cherenkov beam loss monitors (CBLMs) for the linac and transfer lines and 128 scintillator-based beam loss monitors (SBLMs) for the storage ring. Sophisticated electronic equipment is employed to use these monitors in different modes of SKIF operation. The paper describes the design of the SKIF beam loss monitoring system based on numerical simulations and experimental studies.

Abstract

As the injector of the new fourth-generation SKIF synchrotron light source at the BINP SB RAS (Novosibirsk, Russia), the linear accelerator will provide a 200 MeV electron beam. A precise measurement of the beam is very important for the control of the linac and even the entire light source. A set of diagnostic instruments for tuning the linac and measuring the beam parameters starting from the electron RF gun to the output of accelerator has been designed. The instrumentation should cover the dynamic diagnostic range of 0.6 to 200 MeV and a beam duration from the initial 100 ps to 3 ps at the output of the accelerator. The set includes eight fluorescent screens to measure beam transverse size, two Cherenkov probes and RF-cavity sensors to record beam duration, a dipole magnetic spectrometer to measure energy and energy spread, a Faraday cup (FC) and fast current transformers (FCTs) to measure beam charge current, and beam position monitors (BPMs) to check the beam position. This paper aims to give an overview of the beam instrumentation and briefly describes the design and parameters of each diagnostic system. The results of numerical and dynamics simulations of some of the instruments are briefed. Possible scenarios of linac tuning are discussed.

Abstract

For the first time, Li2MoO4crystals depleted in molybdenum-100 (100Mo) isotope were grown by Czochralski technique under low thermal gradient conditions (LTG Cz) that made it possible to obtain large crystals of given geometry and required quality. Depleted lithium molybdate crystals Li2deplMoO4 are excellent candidates for creating cryogenic scintillating bolometers with weight of up to 0.3 kg. Such bolometers can be used to reduce the internal radiation background of detectors and to increase sensitivity in physics and astrophysics experiments for rare events search. The grown Li2100deplMoO4 crystal was compared with the crystal samples of natural and enriched in 100Mo isotope in regard of their response to pulsed X-ray irradiation and Raman spectra.

Abstract

The status of the experiment on the precise $\tau$ lepton mass measurement running at the VEPP-4M collider with the KEDR detector is reported. The mass value is evaluated from the $\tau^+\tau^-$ cross section behaviour around the production threshold. The preliminary result based on 6.7 pb$^{-1}$ of data is $m_{\tau}=1776.80^{+0.25}_{-0.23} \pm 0.15$ MeV. Using 0.8 pb$^{-1}$ of data collected at the $\psi'$ peak the preliminary result is also obtained: $\Gamma_{ee}B_{\tau\tau}(\psi') = 7.2 \pm 2.1$ eV., Comment: 6 pages, 8 figures; The 9th International Workshop on Tau-Lepton Physics, Tau06

Abstract
