Taking into account the literature data, as well as the research conducted by the authors, the composition of the collection for the prevention of inflammatory periodontal diseases has been developed, which includes medicinal plant raw materials:medicinal pimenta fruits, medicinal sage leaves, yarrow grass, badan rhizomes in a ratio of 1:1:1: 1 by weight. The quantitative ratio of the components is determined in accordance with the results of the evaluation of the antimicrobial effect of the extract from the proposed collection. To confirm the composition of biologically active substances of the collection, pharmacopoeial qualitative reactions to flavonoids and tannins, as well as the TLC method, which allows identifying substances of a polyphenolic nature, are proposed. The quantitative determination of extractive substances, essential oil, tannins, and flavonoids in the studied collection was carried out and the norms of their content were proposed. The definition of commodity characteristics is carried out.

At present, in order to expand the raw material base, modern phyto-production is most interested in the use of medicinal plants' organs that were not previously used, but containing flavonoids. The Grossularia reclinata leaves, which are a cheap and affordable plant material, can become a promising source for the creation of phytopreparations containing flavonoid compounds. The aim of the study was to identify and quantify the sum of flavonoids' substances in terms of rutin in the Grossularia reclinata leaves. Material and methods. Qualitative reactions were selected to confirm the presence of flavonoids' substances; differential spectrophotometry was used for their quantitative assessment. Results. It was found that the total content of flavonoids in terms of rutin in alcohol extract from these leaves is on average 0.557 ± 0.0061%, which exceeds their content fruits that were used in medicine by 1.86 times. Comparative analysis of the flavonoids' sum of in the medicinal plants' leaves made it possible to determine that this group of biologically active substances in the Grossularia reclinata leaves is represented in greater quantities than in the motherwort herb (0.2%), wormwood (0.3%) and the tripartite series (0 ,five%). Conclusions: The results of the study allow us to consider this plant raw material promising for the production of new therapeutic and prophylactic drugs.

The conditions for sample preparation of raw material (pomegranate pulp) for analyzing the separation of polyphenolic substances by HPLC are proposed. Quantitative determination of gallic acid and the total content of polyphenolic substances is carried out. Antiradical activity of fruit pulp is estimated in vitro in the 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) test and expressed in milligrams of Trolox equivalent (TE) per 100 g of fruits. The value of antiradical activity ranged from 677.8 to 986.5 mg TE/100 g. It is found that there is a correlation between the yield of polyphenolic substances from the samples and the severity of their antiradical properties in vitro.

Using TLC and HPLC, we revealed the presence of hydroxycinnamic acids in the fruits of common cranberry (Vaccinium oxycoccos L.) and large-fruited cranberry (Vaccinium macrocarpon Ait.). Chlorogenic acid is predominant among them. The quantitative determination of hydroxycinnamic acids in terms of chlorogenic acid is carried out by spectrophotometric analysis.

In the course of the analysis of scientific literature, the composition of the bee bread containing biologically active substances (arginine, phenylalanine, isoleucine, leucine, lysine, methionine, threonine), mineral salts, trace elements and valuable vitamins that enhance immunity was studied. The complex of reactions recommended by the State Pharmacopoeia of the Russian Federation was used to determine the main groups of biologically active substances characteristic of natural raw materials. As an object of research, bee bread was used. The raw materials were identified: amino acids, hydroxyacids, saponins, flavonoids, tannins, coumarins, pectins. This beekeeping product can be recommended for use in medicine as a perspective drug.

In the Russian Federation, in connection with the impend-ing threat of the spread of the epidemic, in order to pre-vent the spread of a new coronavirus infection, it was decided to introduce a self-isolation regime. Obviously, changes in the lifestyle in a certain way affected the diet of the population. The article analyzes the change in the nutrition of students of higher medical educational insti-tutions in this period. The authors developed and con-ducted a survey of young people and found that the stu-dents' nutrition is quite diverse. However, with a decrease in physical activity, the caloric content of the diet in-creased, which can lead to an increase in body weight, an increase in glucose and cholesterol levels. These factors, combined with stress caused by drastic changes in life-style, are predictors of chronic disease.

The paper presents the results of a study of the antioxidant and antibacterial activity of goldenrod grass. Using the method of spectrophotometry and reaction with the radical 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl, the antioxidant activity of the alcohol-water extraction of Canadian goldenrod grass is determined. An aqueous-water extraction from the grass of the Canadian goldenrod also exhibits antibacterial activity against the Bacillus cereus ATCC 11778 and the Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 6538 test strains.

Contamination of surface sources of water supply with organic substances leads to the need to find new technologies and solutions in the field of water purification. For purification of water from fresh sources of water supply polluted with organic substances, ultrafiltration is mostly preferred. Ultrafiltration reliably reduces the concentration of organic pollutants and prevents the penetration of microbiological contaminants into the purified water at the physical level. One of the main issues arising in the selection of devices is the determination of the active area of the membrane to provide the required amount of purified water. This parameter is selected from the condition of contamination of the membrane surface and changes in its permeability. Purpose. Scientific substantiation and development of a mathematical model of dirt-holding capacity of a hollow fiber module for predicting natural water treatment processes. Results. Studies on the reflectivity and dirt-holding capacity of hollow fiber membrane modules are presented. In the process of research, a mathematical model was proposed, which allows to calculate the performance characteristics of membrane units. Scientific novelty. A scientific substantiation is given and a mathematical model of the dirt-holding capacity of a hollow fiber ultrafiltration module has been developed to predict natural water purification processes. Using the model, you can determine the duration of filter cycle, and accordingly calculate the cost of 1 m3 of purified water.Practical relevance. The results of the research can be used as the basis for an application program for calculations in the design and operation of facilities for the preparation of water of different quality.

The technique of the quantitative determination of the sum of flavonoids based on rutin in the Canadian Goldenrod herb is modified by the method of differential spectrophotometry. Optimal conditions for the extraction of flavonoids from the Canadian Goldenrod are chosen depending on the concentration of the extracting solvent, the fineness factor of the raw materials, and the concentration of the complexing agent. The method is validated for accuracy, reproducibility, repeatability, and linearity.

Indolocarbazole glycosidic derivative LCS-1269 with significant antiproliferative activity has been synthesized in N.N. Blokhin National Medical Research Center of Oncology. To control the quality of the substance, the chromatographic method of the assay was created and validated. The technique was carried out in a gradient mode using mobile phases consist of acetonitrile, trifluoroacetic acid and purified water. The specificity of the method was shown by checking of test solutions and the special solvent chromatograms. The method linearity was confirmed, and the parameters of linear dependence have been estimated, and the relationship was described by the equation: y = 49.23× – 35.51 with correlation coefficient 0.9998. The method’s precision was determined as the repeatability with a relative error of the mean 1.49% and was 2.433 ± 0.036. Was shown, that the results obtained in the intermediate precision estimation were not burdened with a systematic error. The detection limit and quantitation limit were calculated based on the linear relationship data as 3.15 μg/mL and 9.57 μg/mL, respectively. Sensitive HPLC method for LCS-1269 assay in substance has been developed and validated.

The problem of interrelation of physical parameters of school space with the state of comfort of students and teachers in conditions of different types of educational environment is considered: "enriched", "standard" and "depleted". The hypothesis was that the assessment of comfort is interrelated with the physical parameters of the environment (temperature, air quality, illumination, acoustics, furniture) and has significant differences in the assessments of schoolchildren and teachers of schools with different types of educational environment. 416 schoolchildren and 73 teachers of three Moscow educational complexes took part in the study. Specially developed questionnaires were used. In the group of schoolchildren, significant differences in assessments of the comfort of the school space and its individual physical parameters were revealed depending on the type of educational environment and significant relationships were established between these indicators. The state of comfort of schoolchildren is determined by the type of educational environment and its physical parameters. For teachers, comfort, which is higher in comparison with the assessments of children, is determined by a favorable psychological climate and benevolent relationships.

The article presents the results of a study of technological parameters (specific mass, bulk mass, volume mass, porosity, quantity cavities between particles, free volume of a layer of the crude materials and coefficient of absorption of solvents) and individual the numerical indicators of the quality (moisture; ash residue: total and insoluble in 10% solution of hydrochloric acid; chopped crude materials; extraneous materials) of the Canadian goldenrod herb. The content of extractive substances was determine. The obtained data will be used in the technological process in the production of extraction preparations.

A questionnaire of 37 dentists was conducted, where they chose the most preferably endodontic material among two analogues (domestic and foreign productions). There were questions with commentation opportunities in survey. Application and composition of materials included in the questionnaire and dentists' arguments in answering were analyzed. Now there exists a prejudiced notion about the quality of domestic endodontic materials. However, actually, not all domestic drugs, examined by us, were lower in quality than foreign ones. The choice of material is recommended to be made according to medical practice, in order to avoid the influence of prevailing stereotypes.

Background The aim of this study was to compare free fluoride concentration and total fluoride concentration in mouthwashes. Methods Fluorine-containing mouthwashes from various companies and manufacturers (Colgate Total Plax Classic Mint®, Colgate-Palmolive, New York, USA; Colgate Total Plax Gentle Mint®, Colgate-Palmolive, New York, USA; Colgate Total Plax Fresh Mint®, Colgate-Palmolive, New York, USA; Oral B Advantage®, Procter&Gamble, Cincinnati, USA; Reach Fresh Mint®, Johnson&Johnson, New Brunswick, USA; Foramen®, Laboratorios Foramen, Guarnizo, Spain; Lacalut Sensitive®, Dr. THEISS, Homburg, Germany; Sensodyne®, GlaxoSmithKline, London, UK; Vesna F®, Vita, Saint Petersburg, Russia; Lacalut Fresh®, Dr. THEISS, Homburg, Germany) were selected as study objects. Fluoride measurements were carried out using the fluoride selective electrode. Results Free fluoride:total fluoride ratio was more than 80% for six samples (Colgate Total Plax Gentle Mint® - 88%, Colgate Total Plax Fresh Mint® - 99%, Oral B Advantage® - 92%, Reach Fresh Mint® - 92 and 89% for the mouthwash of another batch, Lacalut Sensitive® - 94%) and less than 63% for three samples (Colgate Total Plax Classic Mint® - 56%, Foramen® - 62%, Vesna F® - 61%). Two samples had more than 70% and less than 80% of unbound fluoride, respectively (Sensodyne® - 77%, another batch of Oral B Advantage® mouthwash - 74%). Rinse containing sodium monofluorophosphate (Na2PO3F) (Vesna F®) had more than 50% of free fluoride, while the rinse containing amine fluoride (AmF) (Lacalut Sensitive®) had 94%. The difference in the free fluoride:total fluoride ratio can be explained by binding of fluoride ions by components contained in mouthwashes, such as coloring agents and polymeric compounds. The lowest concentration of free fluoride ions (0.000093 mol/L) was observed for aluminum fluoride (AlF3) rinse (Lacalut Fresh®), while the total fluoride amount was not determined due to possible generation of strong fluoride complexes. This implies that fluoride ions will not be uptaken by tooth tissue and may even be washed away from it, compromising the efficacy of mouthwashes. Conclusions The differences in free fluoride: total fluoride ratio between analyzed mouthwashes reveal a need to develop a method for evaluation of free fluorides in mouthwashes for proper updating of national and international guidelines.

The terms land, land plot, and soil as applied in normative documents related to land relations and land management practices are considered. Major legal documents regulating the use of agricultural lands are analyzed. Some drawbacks in the system of the state land management and land legislation resulting in the inefficient control of soil fertility on privately owned lands in the Far East of Russia are revealed. An obligatory certification of soils is recommended as a procedure necessary to ensure efficient control over soil fertility and the quality of agricultural produce.

The chronological review and analysis of the existing regulatory documents relevant to the assessment of soil contamination with heavy metals have been presented. Attention has been given to the incorrect use of the term “total heavy metal content” and the method of its determination in a 5 M nitric acid solution recommended by some regulatory documents. The maximum permissible concentrations (MPCs) and tentatively permissible concentrations (TPCTPCs) for the total heavy metal contents are based on the above method; therefore, the conventional methods of determining the true total contents of heavy metals overestimate the degree of contamination. To avoid confusion, it has been proposed to call the content of a heavy metal in a 5 M nitric acid solution the “pseudototal” content and to compare the experimental results with the MPC or TPCTPC values only if the methods recommended by the regulatory documents were used.

To study the effectiveness of the extract of Pimento officinalis in oral health and to develop a method of identification of marker substances of Pimento officinalis essential oil, qualitative analysis is carried out allowing verification of the authenticity of the components in its composition.

The degree of soil contamination in the impact zone of the Solnechnyi Tin Ore Processing Plant in the Solnechnyi district of the Khabarovsk region was evaluated. It was shown that the air contamination by the waste products of the ore-processing plant is extremely high with respect to the concentrations of toxic dust and heavy metals. The maximum concentrations of these contaminants exceed the background values by 16–80 times. The bulk contents of Pb, Zn, Cu, As, and Hg in the upper soil horizons within the impact zone exceeded the maximum permissible concentrations and the background values by 2–90 times. Abnormally high concentrations of Zn, As, and Pb were observed not only in the surface 10–cm-thick soil layer but also in the underlying (10–20 cm) horizon. The soil contamination transformed the geochemical sequence of heavy metals typical of the background soils (Zn > Pb > As > Cu > Hg) into a new sequence (As > Pb > Cu > Zn > Hg). The statistical data proved that the intensity of the migration of the heavy metals in the soils decreases with a rise in the soil humus content and a drop in the soil acidity. This should be taken into account in the elaboration of soil-protective measures in the investigated region.

The correlation between the coercive force and the hardness of roll sections (butt ends, ledges, and passes) with and without cracks is investigated. It is demonstrated that inclination to crack formation can be controlled by the spread in coercimeter readings on a specific roll surface.

The methods of gas-liquid chromatography and mass-selective detection were used to determine the composition of the volatile fraction of plant extracts included in herb mixtures used for treating parodontal disease. The following marker substances were found: naphthalene derivatives for pot marigold, furan derivatives for trifid bur-marigold and burnet, and the specific terpenoids for licorice, milfoil, and wild marjoram. All the plants used in the herb mixture, except for pot marigold and cinquefoil, were analyzed (ion-exclusion chromatography) for the content of lower carboxylic acids. It was established that the specific acids for the wild marjoram and licorice are ascorbic and the succinic acids, respectively.

The effects of the chemical composition and parameters of the cast-iron smelting and teeming process on the coercive force have been studied. It is shown that only chromium and carbon appreciably affect the coercive force. For rolls with cylindrical surfaces cast from ТПХН-60 iron, a reliable correlation has been established between the hardness and readings of a coercimeter with an attachable electromagnet. For flanges and blooming passes of sizing rolls made from ТШХН-50 cast iron, equations for the relation between the hardness and readings of a coercimeter have been obtained and analyzed. These equations can be used in nondestructive testing of hardness.

Herbal extracts have always attracted the attention of researchers as efficacious and safe substances for making medicines. Recently, there has been a growing interest in studying natural herbal extracts due to the antioxidant properties that many of them display, especially grape seed extract containing polyphenol compounds. The use of grape seed extract as an active substance in the development of an agent for the prevention and treatment of oral cavity diseases is a recent trend in pharmacology. Experimentally selected concentrations for all gel components ensure the targeted consistency and, more importantly, antioxidant and antimicrobial action. The developed formulation has agreeable organoleptic properties and can be recommended for use.

Thirteen multicomponent plant teas and phytoteas are studied to determine specific components in the given product. The validity of the chromato-mass-spectrometry method based on markers contained in the plant raw material for the external control of the composition of plant teas, phytoteas, and other phytopreparations is shown.

The composition of the volatile fraction of extracts for pharmacopoeial types of medicinal plant raw materials was studied using chromatography-mass spectrometry to identify specific compounds characteristic of a specific plant. Forty pharmacopoeial types of medicinal plant raw material were analyzed. It is shown that 14 of them contain specific volatile compounds (markers) allowing unambiguous identification.

The possibility of using sound-stimulated extraction in order to increase the yield of flavonoids from fruits of bird cherry (Padus avium Mill.) was studied. The flavonoid yield depends on the extractant type and temperature. By selecting the optimum extraction conditions and using acoustic treatment, it is possible to achieve a considerable (∼48 %) increase in the efficiency of extraction with a significantly reduced extraction time.

The aim of this paper was to provide a theoretical and experimental rationale for the extension of the raw material base for the production of phytopreparations from cultivated plants and food-industry waste, the development and standardization of scientifically grounded methods for their utilization and manufacture of pharmaceuticals. In the last years, the phytochemical composition of more than 20 species of officinal plants extensively cultivated in this country has been studied in the Department of General Chemistry, I.M.Sechenov Moscow Medical Academy. Oil content, composition of fatty acids, and tocopherol levels were determined in various plant tissues. The data obtained were used to improve normative documentation on raw materials, pharmaceutical substances, and medicinal agents. General technical approaches to the standardization of phy-topreparations were realized in the research carried out by the Department to develop methods for quality control of stomatological materials and therapeutic agents.

Ginos, a derivative of extract Ginkgo Biloba, was administered to 100 patients, aged from 45 to 80 years, mean age 62,3+/-0,7), in dosage 120 mg 3 times daily during 3 months in addition to somatic therapy. A patient's state was assessed before, during and after the treatment using clinical methods and a battery of psychometric scales and neuropsychological tests. A significant improvement of neurological and mental status was found in 90 (90%) of patients that was most distinctly observed in the dynamics of their global state and neurocognitive performance on the MMSE and other tests. The effect of the drug was less pronounced for affective disorders - depression and anxiety. The drug was well-tolerated by patients.

The waste of some fruits, berries, and vegetables, which are accumulated by food industries (juice-extracting, wine, confectionery, and other industries) and generally completely utilized was pharmacognistically and phytochemically analyzed. The phytochemical analysis showed that the study objects (black currant, raspberry, viburnum, red and black mountain ashes, and grape fruit bagasses and melon, squash, and tomato seeds) contain a lot of lipophilic fractions (fatty oil) that present a complex of valuable biologically active substances. The developed recipes of phytopreparations are safe-and-easy-to-use and can be successfully used in patients with chronic inflammatory uterine appendage diseases and in those who present a difficult cohort of patients with lower urinary tract dysfunctions which are hardly correctable and require sophisticated choice of adequate drug therapy.
