The article presents the author's reply to comments by Philip Tallon on his article about British writer C.S. Lewis' book "The Problem of Pain," in which he discusses the problem of evil. The author calls Tallon and Lewis Christian apologetics whose task is to offer a defense of Christian hope. According to the author, Tallon and Lewis show that Christian belief may be thoughtfully defended by powerful minds.

The article discusses arguments surround the legislation of guns, particularly arguments that guns make their owners safer, and examines the psychological effects of gun ownership. The argument that gun ownership can make people less morally and emotionally sound is commented on, and the assertion that greater respect and trust is needed in addition to better laws is presented. The emotional effects of guns in the novels "On the Road" by Jack Kerouac and "Of Mice and Men" by John Steinbeck are also touched on.
