Dada la alta tasa de envejecimiento de este barrio, se decide trabajar con el Centro de Mayores Alfonso de Cossío, el cual se localiza en la barriada San Pablo en la ciudad de Sevilla, pues supone una representación fiel de la población que habita el barrio. A partir de toda la información recabada en la identificación y en los dos talleres participativos, se puede generar un imaginario de aquellos elementos que los participantes consideran susceptibles de salvaguardar y proteger como patrimonio urbano material e inmaterial, así como las carencias y potencialidades que presenta el barrio en materia de confort y salud. Además, se espera que este espacio también sirva de enlace entre la población y las instituciones públicas, con el objetivo de proteger este patrimonio urbano y de transmitir aquellas cuestiones sobre confort y salud que hacen que la población no pueda desarrollarse en plenitud de sus capacidades en su propio barrio., Given the high rate of ageing in this neighbourhood, it was decided to work with the Alfonso de Cossío Senior Centre, which is located in the San Pablo neighbourhood in the city of Seville, as it is a faithful representation of the population living in the neighbourhood. From all the information gathered in the identification and in the workshop, it is possible to generate an imaginary of those elements that the participants consider likely to safeguard and protect as tangible and intangible urban heritage in the Polígono de San Pablo. Furthermore, it is hoped that this space will also serve as a link between the population and public institutions, with the aim of protecting this urban heritage and transmitting those issues that prevent the population from developing to the fullest of its capacities in their own neighborhood.

Desde el ámbito de la arquitectura, esta investigación plantea la oportunidad que supone la caracterización patrimonial de una de las regiones más singulares y poco conocidas de México: la región lacustre purépecha. Esta región histórica se localiza en el occidente de México, particularmente en el Estado de Michoacán. Sus recursos históricos, naturales y socioculturales, le han valido para que a finales del siglo XIX fuese reconocida como sitio de ocio y descanso. En la década de 1930, el entorno lacustre comienza a transformarse paulatinamente como resultado de la llegada de la carretera, junto con el turismo. Iniciando el siglo XXI, la región de Pátzcuaro se vuelve estandarte de dos de las estrategias de turismo cultural, las cuales fueron implementadas por la Secretaría de Turismo de México (SECTUR): los Pueblos Mágicos y la Ruta don Vasco. Para llevar a cabo la caracterización de la región lacustre, se diseña una metodología interdisciplinaria, a través de la cual se definen tres escalas de análisis, siendo estas el ámbito de patrimonialización, la demarcación y la unidad patrimonial. La definición de la escala del ámbito de patrimonialización, es resultado de la fusión de dos de las fronteras político-administrativas, que permitieron la articulación histórica del territorio purépecha. Aquí se hace referencia a las fronteras del Estado tarasco en su periodo de mayor esplendor, caracterizando su posterior transformación en los límites de lo que fue el Obispado y Provincia de Michoacán, esto, durante el periodo del virreinato. Por su parte, la demarcación queda definida por los límites naturales del entorno natural, el cual, es el envolvente de la unidad patrimonial. Así, la unidad patrimonial corresponde a la demarcación que se destaca por la singularidad de los valores, históricos, naturales, y socioculturales, que marcan la diferencia dentro del ámbito de patrimonialización. Esta caracterización multiescalar se complementa con un estudio de la imagen proyectada, From the field of architecture, this research presents the opportunity to characterise the heritage of one of the most unique and little-known regions of Mexico: The Purepecha lake region. This historic region is in western Mexico, particularly in the state of Michoacán. Its historical, natural, and sociocultural resources have earned it recognition in the late 19th century as a place of leisure and relaxation. In the 1930s, the lake environment began to gradually transform because of the arrival of the highway along with tourism. At the beginning of the 21st century, the Patzcuaro region became the standard bearer of two of the cultural tourism strategies implemented by the Mexican Ministry of Tourism (SECTUR), the Magical Towns and the Don Vasco Route. To carry out the characterisation of the lake region, an interdisciplinary methodology is designed through which three scales of analysis are defined, these being the scope of patrimonialization, the demarcation, and the patrimonial unit. The definition of the scale of the patrimonialization area is the result of the fusion of two of the political-administrative borders that allowed the historical articulation of the Purepecha territory. Here, we refer to the borders of the Tarascan state in its period of greatest splendour, characterising its later transformation into the limits of what was the Bishopric and Province of Michoacán during the viceroyalty period. On the other hand, the demarcation is defined by the natural limits of the natural environment, which is the envelope of the patrimonial unit. Thus, the heritage unit corresponds to the demarcation that stands out for the uniqueness of the historical, natural, and socio-cultural values that make the difference within the heritage area. Currently, the use of modern technologies, such as UAVs, allows for a detailed analysis of the protection of Sites of Cultural Interest (BICs) in Spain. Cala Castle in Huelva is selected for this study, which is one of the most important medieval fortifications in the mountainous region and was rehabilitated between 2003 and 2011. After a decade of its architectural rehabilitation, the use of this new UAV technology will allow the creation of a database of the property and its surroundings, made up of a series of 3D models and photogrammetric studies of the territory. This analysis allows us two complementary readings to the original study: on the one hand, to characterize the natural and landscape context of Cala Castle, and on the other, to identify the pre-existence of a series of historic buildings, which have historically articulated this region. The 3D models obtained provide relevant graphic information. The current state of the BIC allows this space to be considered for reactivation as a social space at the regional level. The visuals of the regional environment allow us to identify that the most recent growth has been articulated longitudinally along the N-630 highway, this infrastructure being the backbone of the nucleus. As a pilot test, the beginning of this graphic and visual database (3D) at a regional level will provide a valuable tool for the conservation and registration of built heritage, given that it seeks to incorporate other fortifications that make up Banda Gallega with the aim of defining a sustainable development strategy at county level.

This study analyses comfort and health in obsolete neighbourhoods in regions with high rates of energy poverty. The Polígono San Pablo in the city of Seville, Spain has been chosen as a case study. The research aims to highlight the importance of including participatory processes in the analysis of human rights issues, such as energy poverty. A hybrid and interdisciplinary methodology is presented which incorporates a citizen participation process. The aim is to use this methodology to identify how an obsolete building stock and lack of access to a basic energy service may be affecting people’s health. The main results obtained show the need to include citizen consultation to identify shortcomings and potentialities in obsolete neighbourhoods, especially in terms of energy education. This is expected to contribute to the creation of more effective local energy policies to address the multidimensional problem of energy poverty.

The designation of which resources are valued as emerging heritage is at a turning point. This has resulted in urban heritage regeneration processes designed from the top down, neglecting the perception of the local. This article highlights the importance of generating participatory multi-actor spaces where the knowledge of agents involved in the same process of urban regeneration, in this case linked to heritage in obsolete neighborhoods, can be incorporated and contrasted. The San Pablo neighborhood in Seville, built in the 1960s, is chosen as a case study. Actor–network theory is taken as a methodological basis for articulating a network with the voices of agents involved in heritage regeneration processes in obsolete neighborhoods. A methodology designed from the bottom up is put into practice, having as a base the social agents, followed by the academy, and finally with the technical knowledge of official institutions. This research concludes that incorporating the elderly population as social agents in regenerative actions in the San Pablo neighborhood is a determining factor in characterizing its uniqueness. Collective memory naturally associates resources that are part of the social identity of the neighborhood. Due to its deep roots, the older population recognizes different elements that could be protected and possibly recognized as emerging heritage, and that technical agents should consider them to achieve sustainable regeneration.

Los caminos han comenzado en época reciente a valorarse como un recurso patrimonial que trascienden más allá de considerarse una infraestructura vinculada a la antropización del territorio. Actualmente, son escasas las propuestas metodológicas para su caracterización patrimonial. Por ello, este artículo muestra el diseño y aplicación de una metodología interdisciplinar apoyada en la Etnografía Virtual y basada en un análisis histórico-cartográfico que permite registrar y categorizar tipologías de representación asociadas a la evolución de los caminos. Se toma como caso de estudio la región lacustre de Pátzcuaro, en México. El análisis histórico-cartográfico a través de la etnografía virtual permite identificar tipologías de representación asociadas no solo a la evolución histórica de los caminos, sino que también de su vínculo con la antropización del entorno lacustre. Al llegar al periodo contemporáneo, la cartografía muestra los caminos como una mera infraestructura y visibiliza a los pueblos lacustres como piezas separadas en torno al turismo cultural. Con la aplicación de esta metodología, se confirma que la cartografía es una herramienta estratégica y que su evolución ha permitido establecer que, históricamente, los caminos han sido un eje vertebrador en la ordenación y el desarrollo del este territorio en distintos procesos históricos. Su vigencia es reflejo de que esta región se mantenga vigente, dada su actual transferencia al turismo cultural. Es importante visibilizar que son todas estas poblaciones en su conjunto las que le confieren una identidad cultural a la región lacustre y que los caminos son el medio que ha permitido que este territorio evolucione históricamente de acuerdo con la necesidad de sus poblaciones, situación que justifica su consideración como corredor patrimonial., Roads have recently begun to be valued as a heritage resource that transcends being considered solely as an infrastructure linked to the anthropization of the territory. Currently, there are few methodological proposals for their heritage characterization. Therefore, this article shows the design and application of an interdisciplinary methodology supported by Virtual Ethnography and based on a historical-cartographic analysis that allows recording and categorizing representation typologies associated with the evolution of roads. The lake region of Patzcuaro, Mexico, is taken as a case study. Its historical-cartographic analysis through virtual ethnography allows identifying typologies of representation associated not only with the historical evolution of roads but also with their ties to the anthropization of the lake setting. The cartography, in the contemporary period, shows roads as a mere infrastructure and makes the lake villages visible as separate pieces for cultural tourism. With the application of this methodology, it is confirmed that cartography is a strategic tool and that its evolution has made it possible to establish that, historically, roads have been a backbone in the management and development of this territory in different historical processes. Its validity is a reflection of the fact that this region is still valid, given its current transfer to cultural tourism. It is important to make visible that it is these populations as a whole that confer a cultural identity to the lake region and that the roads are the means that have allowed this territory to evolve historically considering the needs of its population, a situation that justifies its consideration as a heritage corridor.

Las Universidades juegan un papel fundamental en la creación de espacios a través de los cuales se promueva la implicación del estudiantado en proyectos de investigación interdisciplinares que incorporen el enfoque de desarrollo sostenible en línea con la Agenda 2030. Esta comunicación presenta el trabajo colaborativo que se ha desarrollado por parte del Equipo Solar Decathlon de la Universidad de Sevilla en el Polígono de San Pablo a través de distintas acciones, las cuales versan en torno a la rehabilitación de barriadas obsoletas andaluzas. Actualmente, se está desarrollando un proyecto interdisciplinario para fortalecer la construcción de un hábitat salubre y sostenible en barriadas vulnerables. El objetivo es conocer el estado de salud de la población e identificar potencialidades sobre las cuales trabajar para mejorar el confort en los hogares, espacio público y paisaje urbano, caracterizando para ello, los impactos de la pobreza energética y su afección sobre la salud. El equipo de trabajo interdisciplinar está conformado por investigadoras/es de distintos Centros de la US, así como por estudiantes de doctorado y de grado. El proyecto se conforma pues como una actividad de incidencia sobre la población andaluza y, además, como un espacio de docencia en torno al desarrollo sostenible., Universities have a fundamental role in the creation of spaces through which to promote the involvement of students in interdisciplinary research projects that incorporate the sustainable development approach in line with the 2030 Agenda. This communication presents the collaborative work that has been developed by the Solar Decathlon Team of the University of Seville in the Polígono de San Pablo through different actions of rehabilitation of obsolete Andalusian neighbourhoods. Currently, an interdisciplinary project is being developed to strengthen the construction of a healthy and sustainable habitat in vulnerable neighbourhoods. The objective is to know the health status of the population and identify potentialities on which to work to improve comfort in homes, public spaces and urban landscapes, characterising the impacts of energy poverty and its effect on health. The interdisciplinary work team is made up of researchers from different centres of the US, as well as PhD and undergraduate students. The project is thus shaped as an activity that has an impact on the Andalusian population and, in addition, as a space for teaching about sustainable development.
