Abstract

Electricity is the way of the future, and it is already here. The revolution of the automobile industry has accelerated globally in recent years. Electric Vehicles (EV's) are gaining great popularity in India and throughout the globe, however there is still significant resistance in adoption of EV's due to its poor range, long charging hours and less effective charging infrastructure. So, compared to the adoption of Fully Electric Vehicles (FEV), Hybrid vehicles may be fast and readily adopted because of their benefits such as high load capacity, high gradability, no range anxiety etc. Hybrid electric vehicle rider can experience the advantages of both fossil fuel and electricity powered technology. An innovative way for transforming an IC engine scooter into a hybrid (petrol and electric) powered scooter is provided in this paper. Techno-economic calculations are carried out for the converted vehicle, as well as the observations and results of range tests, top speed and acceleration tests are given. The road-load coefficients were also estimated. During the conversion process rear wheel is integrated with a single side shaft BLDC Hub Motor, which improves the scooter's dynamic stability. The scooter's power electronics and Li-ion battery pack are safely placed within the scooter's exterior body. This cost-effective hybrid scooter conversion methodology combines the benefits of a petrol and electric scooter. The battery gets charged while the hybrid electric vehicle is running on petrol mode. Abstract

Drones have been implemented for several applications around the world due to its robust technology and ease of operation. The incorporation of advanced technologies into Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) platforms have enabled many practical applications in precision agriculture (PA) over the past decade. In this project, we are considering drones that are implemented for agricultural purposes to spray the fertilizer without the need of a person nearby. This project uses an innovative Hexa-copter design with a new streamlined structural geometry. This design is validated for its successful implementation through stress analysis using ANSYS and also through suitable material selection for fabrication. The drone parts are built by selecting four other materials for different components. The outcome of this research provides suggestions, maximum/minimum stress levels and future directions to overcome challenges in optimizing operational proficiency of the drone. Abstract

Abstract: CH∗ chemiluminescence is often employed in combustion diagnostics, for example as a measure of heat release rate and for equivalence ratio sensing. However, most interpretations of CH∗ chemiluminescence rely either on heuristic arguments or empirical data gathered under limited conditions. More rigorous analysis is required to understand the effects of combustion conditions, e.g., pressure, reactant composition and preheat, strain and exhaust gas recirculation, on CH∗ chemiluminescence. Chemiluminescence modeling holds promise in this regard. The predictive accuracy of four proposed CH∗ chemiluminescence formation models were experimentally tested in premixed, methane–air and prevaporized Jet-A–air flames. Two of the models, based on CH∗ formation via reactions between C2H and O or O2, are able to predict the experimental data within the experimental uncertainty, in both room temperature methane and preheated Jet-A flames. The utility of CH∗ chemiluminescence for sensing heat release rate and equivalence ratio (ϕ), when combined with OH∗ chemiluminescence, is then analyzed in methane flames for varying pressure, preheat temperature and strain. The CH∗/OH∗ chemiluminescence ratio is found to be useful for sensing equivalence ratio in lean methane systems, but only at certain pressure and reactant temperature conditions. The relationship between CH∗ chemiluminescence and heat release varies with ϕ, pressure, temperature and strain. At high pressures, however, the dependence on ϕ and strain are small, making CH∗ attractive for heat release sensing applications in gas turbine combustors. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

Abstract

The effects of oscillatory backpressure on the air induction system for pulse detonation engines were examined for a two-dimensional, mixed-compression configuration at a freestream Mach number of 3.5. The pressure perturbations at the diffuser exit were produced by injecting air through four ports located at the corners of the exit cross section. The frequency, coupling of the ports and airflow rates through the ports were varied, simulating the operation of detonation tubes. A terminal normal shock in the diffuser oscillated in the excited inlet, causing large pressure fluctuation amplitudes at some locations. Large injection mass flows resulted in inlet flow oscillations throughout the inlet, increased the spillage, yet did not cause inlet unstart. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
