Laboulbeniales (Ascomycota) are an order of understudied, biotrophic microfungi uniquely associated with arthropods. More than 2300 species are described but only a fraction of those have been sequenced. Molecular studies have shown that cryptic diversity and phenotypic plasticity are present within the Laboulbeniales. Thus far, all of the 146 genera described in Laboulbeniales have been based on morphological characteristics; features commonly used to delineate genera are the organization of receptacle cells and the number of perithecial outer wall cells. The genus Botryandromyces was erected to accommodate two species, B. heteroceri and B. ornatus (type), which share similar morphological characteristics and are different from other genera in their number of perithecial outer wall cells. Here, we generated sequences of multiple loci (18S, ITS, and 28S) of B. heteroceri and several Laboulbenia species. Our phylogenetic analyses retrieved Botryandromyces within Laboulbenia with high support. The two Botryandromyces species are similar to related Laboulbenia species in their upper receptacle (i.e., cells IV and V). We propose to transfer Botryandromyces ornatus and B. heteroceri to Laboulbenia as L. heteroceri and L. mairei nom. nov., respectively, due to a complicated taxonomic history. These results advocate the use of molecular data and the necessity of an integrative taxonomy approach in the study of Laboulbeniales not only to delineate species, but also to investigate relationships among species, genera, and higher taxa as well as to understand the evolution of morphology in this group of fungi. A taxonomic synopsis of Philippine Cyrtandra (Gesneriaceae) is presented. Following a study of 138 published names and their types, we accept 98 Cyrtandra species for the Philippine flora. Except for C. angularis, C. elatostemoides, and C. yaeyamae, all are endemic to the country. Lectotypes or neotypes are designated for all names for which this is necessary, except for six names for which we were unable to locate original material. We also validate a species name that was previously described without a Latin diagnosis (C. peninsula), synonymize three names, and provide taxonomic notes for each species. In addition, we propose two replacement names for taxa for which a legitimate name in Cyrtandra does not currently exist: C. edanoi for a Philippine species and C. siporensis for a Sumatran species. Three junior homonyms are found within the genera of fossil Cephalopoda and the following replacement names are proposed: Nautilaphractus Ceccolini and Cianferoni nom. nov. = Aphractus Shimansky, 1967 nec Redtenbacher in Brunner von Wattenwyl, 1895; Uralharuspex Ceccolini and Cianferoni nom. nov. = Haruspex Shimansky, 1968 nec Thomson, 1864. The spider taxa included by James Barbut in his work 'The genera insectorum of Linnæus exemplified in various specimens of English insects drawn from nature' from 1781 are discussed alongside some other early works of spider literature. Barbut discusses and depicts three previously described species, Araneus diadematus Clerck, 1757, Tegenaria domestica (Clerck, 1757) and Xysticus cristatus (Clerck, 1757). Four taxa are newly described by Barbut (1781) but are unavailable nomina per Article 11.4 of the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature. The taxonomic acts of Bonnet, who failed to notice that Barbut's work was invalid for the purposes of zoological nomenclature, are discussed. Two nomina, Aranea subterranea Barbut in Meyer, 1794 and Aranea hortensis Barbut in Meyer, 1794 - both made available through the translation work by Meyer - are evaluated. Aranea subterranea Barbut in Meyer, 1794 is proposed as a nomen dubium. Aranea hortensis Barbut in Meyer, 1794 is proposed as a junior synonym of Araneus diadematus Clerck, 1757 syn. nov. and is thus an objective senior homonym of Araneus hortensis (Blackwall, 1859). The replacement name Araneus blackwalli nom. nov. is proposed for the latter taxon. The genus name Euafricana Ceccolini & Cianferoni nom. nov. is proposed to replace the name of the coral Africana Ocaña & Brito, preoccupied by the nematode genus Africana Travossos, 1920. Euafricana wirtzi (Ocaña & Brito, 2015) comb. nov. is also established.

Tegula xanthostigma (A. Adams, 1853) has two shell colour forms: a black form and a brown-green form that was once named as Chlorostoma lischkei Pilsbry, 1889. Recent molecular phylogenetic and ecological studies have demonstrated that these two forms are genetically distinct and furthermore differ in habitat usage patterns. It is thus reasonable to separate them as two different species. The black shell form corresponds to T. xanthostigma, but the name C. lischkei for the brown-green shell form is a junior primary homonym of C. lischkei Tapparone-Canefri, 1874 and thus invalid. Phylogenetic studies have shown that Schefflera, the largest genus of Araliaceae, is highly polyphyletic, comprising five non-sister clades within the family, and that the generic name must be restricted to a small group of Pacific Island species. In an effort to establish monophyletic genera for the other elements still remaining in Schefflera, phylogenetic analyses of the large Neotropical clade have revealed five morphologically and geographically coherent groups. Here, we reinstate the genus Sciodaphyllum, which corresponds to the largest of these five groups, presenting a synopsis of the 131 currently recognized species, including 109 new combinations, one replacement name (nomen novum), and three new heterotypic synonyms. The taxonomic status of Draparnaldiopsis G.M. Sm. & Klyver is discussed and the circumscription of the genus is readdressed. Draparnaldia yajnavalkyae Manasi Mandal & D. Maity sp. nov., from Sikkim Himalaya is described and illustrated. This new species was discovered in the high mountains of Lhonak Valley, North Sikkim and is known only from the type locality. A detailed description of the species along with an illustration and other images is provided. The new species is compared with its most similar and closely related species Draparnaldia mutabilis (Roth) Bory. The characters of the new species bridge those of the genera Draparnaldia Bory and Draparnaldiopsis and thus Draparnaldiopsis is considered a synonym of Draparnaldia. An amplified diagnosis of Draparnaldia is provided. New combinations are made for the names of the nine previously described taxa under the genus Draparnaldiopsis. There is already a Draparnaldia simplex K. I. Mey. and therefore, Draparnaldiopsis simplex C. Jao requires a new name in that genus. Draparnaldia forestii Manasi Mandal & D. The Miconieae (Melastomaceae) are a strictly Neotropical group comprising over 1900 species. The tribe is characterized by inflorescences that are terminal or axillary, but not cauliflorous (except a few species of Charianthus, Clidemia, and Mecranium), flowers subtended by only one pair of bracteoles (or none at all), with anthers that lack a pedoconnective, leaves without long acicular raphides, and berry fruits. Generic delimitations within the Miconieae have been notoriously complex, and phylogenetic analyses have shown that Miconia is paraphyletic with many other genera embedded within it. These nested genera include Anaectocalyx, Calycogonium, Catocoryne, Charianthus, Clidemia, Conostegia, Killipia, Leandra, Maieta, Mecranium, Necramium, Ossaea, Pachyanthus, Pleiochiton, Sagraea, Tetrazygia, and Tococa. In the absence of a workable solution that allows the subdivision of the tribe into smaller, morphologically recognizable and monophyletic genera, it has been previously proposed that only one genus be recognized in the tribe. A new name in the genus Ledebouria Roth is validated for Scilla viridis Blatter & Hallberg [non Scilla viridis (L.) Salisbury]. It is rediscovered after about 85 years of its first and only report. It is also redescribed on the basis of morphology, anatomy, cytology and assigned the name Ledebouria junnarensis S.S. Rahangdale & S.R. Rahangdale belonging to the family Asparagaceae, subfamily Hyacinthoideae. As this is a species endemic to the Western Ghats, Maharashtra, India, it is studied for threat status as per IUCN criteria & guidelines and assigned the status Critically Endangered B1ab(iii)+2ab(iii). Identification keys for the genera and species of subfamily Hyacinthoideae reported from India are prepared on the basis of reported and observed characters.

Two species characterized by locellate anthers are treated, belonging to different sections of Clusia. One of these species, Clusia favus, is described as new. A new name for a species with an unusual volcano-shaped male androecium, belonging to Clusia section Phloianthera, but originally described within the genus Arrudea, is also proposed. The neotropical tribe Clusieae contains six genera including Dystovomita and Tovomita. Material from the Ducke Reserve (Manaus), determined as Dystovomita brasiliensis, had been used in a recent phylogenetic study and was shown to be nested in Tovomita, leaving some doubt as to its determination. Having examined various types of Dystovomita brasiliensis we confirm the identity of the specimens from the Ducke Reserve and here accommodate the species within Tovomita as Tovomita hopkinsii. Phorbas capixaba sp. nov. is described from 54 m depth off Guarapari, diagnosed by its two clear-cut categories of isochelae from Phorbas spp. known from the Western Tropical Atlantic. Four nomina nova are proposed for homonyms in Phorbas spp.: P. bergmontae nom. nov. for P. areolatus Bergquist & Fromont, 1988, preoccupied by P. areolatus (Thiele, 1905); P. burtoni nom. nov. for P. arborescens sensu (Burton, 1956), preoccupied by P. arborescens (Ridley, 1884); P. hechteli nom. nov. for P. ramosus (Hechtel, 1983), preoccupied by P. ramosus (Lendenfeld, 1888; in part - composite species); P. tanitai nom. nov. for P. purpureus (Tanita, 1961), preoccupied by P. purpureus (Carter, 1886). Three little known species are redescribed: Aplysina alcicornis Pinheiro et al., 2007; Mycale (Aegogropila) escarlatei Hajdu et al., 1995 and Yucatania sphaeroidocladus (Hartman & Hubbard, 1999). All three are new records for Espírito Santo. The first and the last of these are range extensions, while the other fills a distribution gap. A list of sponges hitherto recorded from off Espírito Santo state, with indication of the bibliographic source of the record is given in appendix. In total, 118 species were compiled from 23 publications.

One junior homonym was detected in the order Araneae where no junior synonym could be used and the following replacement name is therefore proposed: Pholcitrichocyclus Ceccolini & Cianferoni nom.nov. pro TrichocyclusSimon, 1908necEschscholtz, 1825necGünther, 1870. A new name in the genus Ledebouria Roth is validated for Scilla viridis Blatter & Hallberg [non Scilla viridis (L.) Salisbury]. It is rediscovered after about 85 years of its first and only report. It is also redescribed on the basis of morphology, anatomy, cytology and assigned the name Ledebouria junnarensis S.S. Rahangdale & S.R. Rahangdale belonging to the family Asparagaceae, subfamily Hyacinthoideae. As this is a species endemic to the Western Ghats, Maharashtra, India, it is studied for threat status as per IUCN criteria & guidelines and assigned the status Critically Endangered B1ab(iii)+2ab(iii). Identification keys for the genera and species of subfamily Hyacinthoideae reported from India are prepared on the basis of reported and observed characters. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
