Abstract

32nd European Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conference and Exhibition; 677-679, Passivation paste for Passivated Emitter and Rear Cell (PERC) easily formed by screen-printing is described. The layer is composed of aluminum-other metal complex oxide. Passivation layer can be formed at low cost without gas-phase process. The forming procedure is as follows: (i) Printing the passivation paste on silicon wafers. (ii) Baking the wafers and volatilizing solvent. (iii) Annealing the wafers and promoting structure change to form passivation layer. The passivation layer is hard and stuck fast to the wafer. The carrier lifetimes of samples with the passivation layer are comparable to those of the ALD-AlOx applied sample. The negative fixed charge density of the paste is higher than -1×1012 cm-2. Quantum efficiency of the passivation paste applied PERC is equivalent to the ALD-AlOx applied reference cell.

Abstract

We herein describe the case of a 30-year-old woman who experienced high fever during the puerperal period and was diagnosed with pheochromocytoma. Acute inflammatory syndrome, as indicated by the elevated serum levels of interleukin-6 (IL-6), and cholestatic liver dysfunction were observed. Since this condition resolved before the operation, it was probably caused by massive central necrosis within the tumor. The IL-6 production from the tumor cells was confirmed by immunohistochemistry. When a case of pheochromocytoma accompanied with acute inflammatory syndrome is encountered, the possibility that the tumor itself might produce some cytokines should be considered, even in the presence of massive necrosis within the tumor., 私たちは分娩後，発熱を契機に診断されたIL-6 産生褐色細胞腫の一例を経験したので報告する．症例は30歳，女性．妊娠24 週目に高血圧を指摘されたが，その後は血圧安定しており，加療なし．37週目，血圧200/146 mmHg と急激に上昇し，妊娠高血圧症候群の診断の下，当院救急搬送後，即日帝王切開となった．無事第一子を出産したが，その後も高血圧は改善せず，産褥期３週目頃より38℃台の発熱が出現し，原因精査の結果，左副腎に壊死を伴う径10cm 大の褐色細胞腫の存在が明らかになった．また同時期に血中胆道系酵素，CRP およびIL-6 の増加を認めた．その後，解熱とともにこれらの値も徐々に低下し，産褥18週目までにはいずれも正常化した．産褥21 週目，左副腎摘出術を施行．摘出した腫瘍の免疫組織化学的検査の果，腫瘍からのIL-6 の産生が確認された． 私たちが調べ得た限り，IL-6 を産生する褐色細胞腫の報告は本例を含め８例であった．いずれも血中IL-6 の増加の他，急性炎症反応あるいは肝胆道系酵素の上昇を認めたが，８例中３例（本例含）は，腫瘍摘出前に血中濃度はすべて正常化していた．特に本例のように腫瘍内部に壊死を伴う場合は，腫瘍細胞からのIL-6 産生を見逃されてきた可能性があり，今後acute inflammatory syndrome を伴う褐色細胞腫の診断の際には，IL-6の産生を疑う必要があると考えられた．

29th European Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conference and Exhibition; 939-942, In this paper, we will describe three kinds of screen-printable materials, that is, n/p-type doping pastes, surface passivation paste and Cu-alloy electrode paste. The n/p-type doping pastes have three main features: (i) uniform and controllable sheet resistance, (ii) minimal out-diffusion, and (iii) no residue. These can be applicable to high-efficiency solar cells such as selective emitter, back contact and bi-facial structure. The surface passivation paste has also three main features: (i) easy to form thin-layer patterning by screen printing, (ii) field-effect passivation, and (iii) comparable negative fixed charge density to ALD-Al2O3. Therefore, this can be alternative to ALD or PECVD passivation for fabricating the local back-surface-field cell in a lower-cost process. The Cu-alloy electrode paste is the replacement to reduce material cost of the Ag-paste. This paste is composed of Cu-alloy, glass frit, solvent and binder. By firing at around 800 C, the barrier layer is formed outside of the conductive layer (Cu-alloy) and prevents Cu-migration to Si. These screen-printable materials enable to provide high-efficiency crystalline silicon solar cell without significant additional process and cost.

Abstract

Clostridium difficile causes pseudomembranous colitis and antibiotic-associated diarrhea. The definitive diagnosis of C. difficile infection is finally accomplished by the isolation of toxigenic C. difficile. However, only a small number of Japanese clinical laboratories are able to reach a definitive diagnosis of C. difficile infection, probably because simple reliable assays for toxins in the isolates are not available. In this study, we examined the compatibility of a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) assay and tissue culture assay to identify toxigenic C. difficile, in toxigenic and nontoxigenic C. difficile isolates from Japanese patients and healthy carriers. The specificity of PCR primers was demonstrated by restriction endonuclease digestion and seminested PCR in C. difficile VPI 10463 strain. No PCR product was amplified in the eight other clostridial species used to check the specificity of the PCR assay. The detection limit was 10(3) cells. Both toxin A and toxin B genes (the genes encoding the major virulence factors of C. difficile) were detected in 58 toxigenic C. difficile isolates, which showed a wide range of cytotoxic activity in tissue culture assays. Neither of the toxin genes was carried by 40 nontoxigenic strains of C. difficile. The results of this study strongly suggest that a definitive diagnosis of C. difficile infection can be accomplished by PCR detection of the toxin genes rather than by tissue culture assay of isolates. 27. A Crystalline Metallic Copper Network Application Film Produced by High-Temperature Atmospheric Sintering

Abstract

We show the first production of a copper (Cu) application film (AF) consisting of a novel network of crystalline metallic Cu embedded with copper-phosphorus-oxygen glasses (Cu 2(PO4) and Cu 2P2O 7) to provide new feedstock materials for crystalline silicon (Si) photovoltaics (PVs). The Cu crystal network was preferentially grown in AF, and thus, a Cu AF with low-electrical resistivity was formed in air at elevated temperatures of ≥ 450°C by using a copper-phosphorus (Cu-P) alloy paste as a starting material for the sintering. The Cu-P alloy had the role that governed deoxidization of a cuprous oxide, which was formed on heating during the sintering, by virtue of a concurrent oxidation of the Cu phosphide at elevated temperatures. Our results may open the way to the widespread use of atmospherically sintered Cu AFs for mass-production of next-generation crystalline Si PVs.

Abstract

Gamma decay of the low-energy octupole resonance in ^Zr was studied by inelastic α scattering at 99.3 MeV. Correlation functions measured for the ground-state transition support a spin-3 assignment for the low-energy octupole resonance. Observed branching ratios to the ground and the low-lying states around Ex∼2.2 MeV are respectively (7.9±1.0)% and (32±10)%, which are significantly larger than those predicted by the statistical-decay model.

32. Photoinduced Electron Transfer between C<INF>60</INF>/C<INF>70</INF> and Zinc Tetraphenylporphyrin in Polar Solvents

Abstract

Photoinduced electron transfer between C60/C70 and zinc tetraphenylporphyrin (ZnTPP) in a polar solvent has been investigated with a nanosecond laser photolysis method by observing the transient absorption bands in the near-IR region. The transient absorption bands of the C60/C70 radical anion (C60•-/C70•-) in the near-IR region gave evidence of electron transfer for the system ZnTPP and C60/C70. In ZnTPP solution where C60 and C70 were photoexcited predominantly, electron transfer takes place from the ground state of ZnTPP to the triplet states of C60/C70 (3C60*/3C70*). In the concentrated ZnTPP solution where ZnTPP was predominantly photoexcited, the triplet state of ZnTPP donates the electron to the ground state of C60/C70, producing C60•-/C70•-. The efficiency of electron transfer via the 3C60*/3C70* route is higher than that via 3ZnTPP*.

33. Photoinduced Electron Transfer from Phthalocyanines to Fullerenes (C<INF>60</INF> and C<INF>70</INF>)

Abstract

Photoinduced electron transfer between fullerenes (C60 and C70) and phthalocyanines such as tetra-tert-butylphthalocyanine (H2TBPc) and its zinc derivative (ZnTBPc) in solution has been investigated with nanosecond laser photolysis method by observing the transient absorption bands in the visible/near-IR regions. By the predominant excitation of fullerenes with 532 nm laser light, slow rises of the transient absorption bands of phthalocyanine cation radicals and fullerene anion radicals were observed instead of the decays of the excited triplet states of fullerenes (TC60* and TC70*) in polar solvents. Electron-transfer from the phthalocyanines to TC60* or TC70* was confirmed. The quantum yield of the electron transfer via TC70* is higher than that via TC60*; ZnTBPc acts as stronger electron donor than H2TBPc. In nonpolar solvent, energy transfer from TC60* (and TC70*) to the phthalocyanines occurs predominantly as confirmed by the consecutive appearance of the triplet states of the phthalocyanines.

Abstract

Abstract Background Although adjuvant gemcitabine (GEM) chemotherapy for pancreatic cancer is standard, the quality of life (QOL) in those patients is still impaired by the standard regimen of GEM. Therefore, we studied whether mild dose-intensity adjuvant chemotherapy with bi-weekly GEM administration could provide a survival benefit with acceptable QOL to the patients with pancreatic cancer. Methods After a phase I trial, an adjuvant bi-weekly 1,000 mg/m2 of GEM chemotherapy was performed in 58 patients with pancreatic cancer for at least 12 courses (Group A). In contrast, 36 patients who declined the adjuvant bi-weekly GEM chemotherapy underwent traditional adjuvant 5FU-based chemotherapy (Group B). Careful periodical follow-ups for side effects of GEM and disease recurrence, and assessment of patients’ QOL using the EORTC QOL questionnaire (QLQ-C30) and pancreatic cancer-specific supplemental module (QLQ-PAN26) were performed. Retrospectively, the degree of side effects, patients’ QOL, compliance rate, disease-free survival (DFS), and overall survival (OS) in Group A were compared with those in Group B. Results No severe side effects (higher than Grade 2 according to the common toxicity criteria of ECOG) were observed, except for patients in Group B, who were switched to the standard GEM chemotherapy. Patients’ QOL was better in Group A than B (fatigue: 48.9 ± 32.1 versus 68.1 ± 36.3, nausea and vomiting: 26.8 ± 20.4 versus 53.7 ± 32.6, diarrhea: 21.0 ± 22.6 versus 53.9 ± 38.5, difficulty gaining weight: 49.5 ± 34.4 versus 67.7 ± 40.5, P < 0.05). Compliance rates in Groups A and B were 93% and 47%. There was a significant difference in the median DFS between both groups (Group A : B =12.5 : 6.6 months, P < 0.001). The median OS of Group A was prolonged markedly compared with Group B (20.2 versus 11.9 months, P < 0.005). For OS between both groups, univariate analysis revealed no statistical difference in 69-year-old or under females, and T1–2 factors, moreover, multivariate analysis indicated three factors, such as bi-weekly adjuvant GEM chemotherapy, T2 or less, and R0. Conclusions Adjuvant chemotherapy with bi-weekly GEM offered not only the advantage of survival benefits but the excellent compliance with acceptable QOL for postoperative pancreatic cancer patients.
