- Abstract
In this article we report a case of disseminated nocardiosis caused by Nocardia otitidiscaviarum in an immunocompetent patient with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) who complained of a cough, followed by skin and intracranial lesions. On metagenomic next-generation sequencing (mNGS) technology of respiratory samples (bronchoalveolar lavage fluid, BALF) Nocardia otitidiscaviarum was identified. The patient was treated with therapy combined with a low dose of TMP-SMX and imipenem cilastatin sodium and had a favorable outcome. The timely diagnosis of Nocardia with the help of mNGS technology and early rational treatment of TMP-SMX can help improve the prognosis., Competing Interests: Declaration of competing interest The authors declare that they have no known competing financial interests or personal relationships that could have appeared to influence the work reported in this paper., (Copyright © 2024.
