A large amount of real-world data suggests that the emergence of variants of concern (VOCs) has brought new challenges to the fight against SARS-CoV-2 because the immune protection elicited by the existing coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccines was weakened. In response to the VOCs, it is necessary to advocate for the administration of booster vaccine doses to extend the effectiveness of vaccines and enhance neutralization titers. In this study, the immune effects of mRNA vaccines based on the WT (prototypic strain) and omicron (B1.1.529) strains for use as booster vaccines were investigated in mice. It was determined that with two-dose inactivated vaccine priming, boosting with mRNA vaccines could elevate IgG titers, enhance cell-mediated immunity, and provide immune protection against the corresponding variants, but cross-protection against distinct strains was inferior. This study comprehensively describes the differences in the mice boosted with mRNA vaccines based on the WT strain and the omicron strain, a harmful VOC that has resulted in a sharp rise in the number of infections, and reveals the most efficacious vaccination strategy against omicron and future SARS-CoV-2 variants.

Waning antibodies and rapidly emerging variants are challenges for severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) vaccine development. Adjusting existing immunization schedules and further boosting strategies are under consideration. Here, the immune responses induced by an alum-adjuvanted inactivated SARS-CoV-2 vaccine in mice were compared among immunization schedules with two or three doses. For the two-dose schedule, a 0-28-day schedule induced 5-fold stronger spike-specific IgG responses than a 0-14-day schedule, with only a slight elevation of spike-specific cellular immunity 14 days after the last immunization. A third homologous boost 2 or 5 months after the second dose for the 0-28-day schedule slightly strengthened humoral responses (1.3-fold for the 0-1-3-month schedule, and 1.8-fold for the 0-1-6-month schedule) 14 days after the last immunization. Additionally, a third homologous boost (especially with the 0-1-3-month schedule) induced significantly stronger cell-mediated immunity than both two-dose immunization schedules for all indexes tested, with a response similar to that induced by a one-dose heterologous boost with BNT162b2 in clinical trials, according to cellular immunity analysis (1.5-fold). These T cell responses were Th2 oriented, with good CD4+ and CD8+ memory. These results may offer clues for applying a homologous boosting strategy for alum-adjuvanted inactivated SARS-CoV-2 vaccines.

Latent varicella-zoster virus (VZV) may be reactivated to cause herpes zoster, which affects one in three people during their lifetime. The currently available subunit vaccine Shingrix™ is superior to the attenuated vaccine Zostavax® in terms of both safety and efficacy, but the supply of its key adjuvant component QS21 is limited. With ionizable lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) that were recently approved by the FDA for COVID-19 mRNA vaccines as carriers, and oligodeoxynucleotides containing CpG motifs (CpG ODNs) approved by the FDA for a subunit hepatitis B vaccine as immunostimulators, we developed a LNP vaccine encapsulating VZV-glycoprotein E (gE) and CpG ODN, and compared its immunogenicity with Shingrix™ in C57BL/6J mice. The results showed that the LNP vaccine induced comparable levels of gE-specific IgG antibodies to Shingrix™ as determined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Most importantly, the LNP vaccine induced comparable levels of cell-mediated immunity (CMI) that plays decisive roles in the efficacy of zoster vaccines to Shingrix™ in a VZV-primed mouse model that was adopted for preclinical studies of Shingrix™. Blood clot formation induced by dysfunctional coagulation is a frequent complication of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) and a high-risk factor for severe illness and death. Neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) are implicated in COVID-19-induced immunothrombosis. Furthermore, human cathelicidin, a NET component, can perturb the interaction between the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein and its ACE2 receptor, which mediates viral entry into cells. At present, however, the levels of cathelicidin antimicrobial peptides after SARS-CoV-2 infection and their role in COVID-19 thrombosis formation remain unclear. In the current study, we analyzed coagulation function and found a decrease in thrombin time but an increase in fibrinogen level, prothrombin time, and activated partial thromboplastin time in COVID-19 patients. In addition, the cathelicidin antimicrobial peptide LL-37 was upregulated by the spike protein and significantly elevated in the plasma of patients. Furthermore, LL-37 levels were negatively correlated with thrombin time but positively correlated with fibrinogen level. In addition to platelet activation, cathelicidin peptides enhanced the activity of coagulation factors, such as factor Xa (FXa) and thrombin, which may induce hypercoagulation in diseases with high cathelicidin peptide levels. Injection of cathelicidin peptides promoted the formation of thrombosis, whereas deletion of cathelicidin inhibited thrombosis in vivo. These results suggest that cathelicidin antimicrobial peptide LL-37 is elevated during SARS-CoV-2 infection, which may induce hypercoagulation in COVID-19 patients by activating coagulation factors.

Inactivated coronaviruses, including severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 1 (SARS-CoV-1) and Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus (MERS-CoV), as potential vaccines have been reported to result in enhanced respiratory diseases (ERDs) in murine and nonhuman primate (NHP) pneumonia models after virus challenge, which poses great safety concerns of antibody-dependent enhancement (ADE) for the rapid wide application of inactivated SARS-CoV-2 vaccines in humans, especially when the neutralizing antibody levels induced by vaccination or initial infection quickly wane to nonneutralizing or subneutralizing levels over the time. With passive transfer of diluted postvaccination polyclonal antibodies to mimic the waning antibody responses after vaccination, we found that in the absence of cellular immunity, passive infusion of subneutralizing or nonneutralizing anti-SARS-CoV-2 antibodies could still provide some level of protection against infection upon challenge, and no low-level antibody-enhanced infection was observed. The anti-SARS-CoV-2 IgG-infused group and control group showed similar, mild to moderate pulmonary immunopathology during the acute phase of virus infection, and no evidence of vaccine-related pulmonary immunopathology enhancement was found. Typical immunopathology included elevated MCP-1, IL-8 and IL-33 in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid; alveolar epithelial hyperplasia; and exfoliated cells and mucus in bronchioles. Our results corresponded with the recent observations that no pulmonary immunology was detected in preclinical studies of inactivated SARS-CoV-2 vaccines in either murine or NHP pneumonia models or in large clinical trials and further supported the safety of inactivated SARS-CoV-2 vaccines.

Theoretically, the subunit herpes zoster vaccine ShingrixTM could be used as a varicella vaccine that avoids the risk of developing shingles from vaccination, but bedside mixing strategies and the limited supply of the adjuvant component QS21 have made its application economically impracticable. With lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) that were approved by the FDA as vectors for severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 vaccines, we designed a series of vaccines efficiently encapsulated with varicella-zoster virus glycoprotein E (VZV-gE) and nucleic acids including polyinosinic-polycytidylic acid (Poly I:C) and the natural phosphodiester CpG oligodeoxynucleotide (CpG ODN), which was approved by the FDA as an immunostimulator in a hepatitis B vaccine. Preclinical trial in mice showed that these LNP vaccines could induce VZV-gE IgG titers more than 16 times those induced by an alum adjuvant, and immunized serum could block in vitro infection completely at a dilution of 1:80, which indicated potential as a varicella vaccine. The magnitude of the cell-mediated immunity induced was generally more than 10 times that induced by the alum adjuvant, indicating potential as a zoster vaccine. These results showed that immunostimulatory nucleic acids together with LNPs have promise as safe and economical varicella and zoster vaccine candidates.

Functional soft candy of traditional Chinese medicine( TCM) can be used to supplement vitamins,enhance immunity,assist in lowering blood sugar,assist in lowering blood lipid,assist in lowering blood pressure,relax the bowel,reduce weight and fight againstoxidation.It has attracted much attention due to its effective improvement in the bad taste and incompatibility of traditional medicines.TCM functional soft candy and health food made by gel,sweetener and Chinese herbal medicines( which can be used both as food and medicine) approved by the State Food and Drug Administration were selected as the research objects in this paper.We combed and analyzed the research situation of health food dosage forms and effects,the functional factors of TCM functional soft candy,gelatin,sweetener,production process,and quality evaluation,etc.,and then,we discussed their existing problems and development prospects.After reviewing the relevant literature on TCM functional soft candy and health food researches published in recent years,we analyzed and summarized their dosage forms,health effects,gels,sweeteners,production process,quality evaluation and safety.The following problems in the research of TCM functional soft candy were pointed out: for examples,differences in the sensory evaluation of soft candy;whether the combination of several similar gels and sweeteners had an effect on human health; the lack of laws and regulations in health foods and the lack of uniform standards for quality evaluation.In summary,TCM functional soft candy is a new type of health food,which changes the dosage form of health food based on capsules and tablets.This move conforms to the physiological and psychological needs of consumers.Therefore,it is in line with the requirement ofquot; Health China 2030quot; Planning Outline.

Bacterial DNA (bacDNA) is frequently found in serum of patient with ulcerative colitis (UC) and Crohns disease, even blood bacterial culture is negative. How bacDNA evades immune elimination and is translocated into blood remain unclear. Here, we showed that bacDNA avoids elimination and disables bacteria-killing function of antimicrobial peptide LL-37 (Cramp in mice) by forming complex with LL-37, which is inducible after culture with bacteria or bacterial products. Elevated LL-37-bacDNA complex was found in plasma and lesions of patients with UC. LL-37-bacDNA promoted inflammation by inducing Th1, Th2 and Th17 differentiation and activating toll-like receptor-9 (TLR9). The complex also increased paracellular permeability, which possibly combines its inflammatory effects to promote local damage and bacDNA translocation into blood. Cramp-bacDNA aggravated mouse colitis severity while interference with the complex ameliorated the disease. The study identifies that inflammatogenic bacDNA utilizes LL-37 as a vehicle for blood translocation and to evade immune elimination. Additionally, bacteria may make a milieu by releasing bacDNA to utilize and resist host antimicrobial peptides as a trojan horse.

Elastase is a globular glycoprotein and belongs to the chymotrypsin family. It is involved in several inflammatory cascades on the basis of cleaving the important connective tissue protein elastin, and is strictly regulated to a balance by several endogenous inhibitors. When elastase and its inhibitors are out of balance, severe diseases will develop, especially those involved in the cardiopulmonary system. Much attention has been attracted in seeking innovative elastase inhibitors and various advancements have been taken on clinical trials of these inhibitors. Natural functional peptides from venomous animals have been shown to have anti-protease properties. Here, we identified a kazal-type serine protease inhibitor named ShSPI from the cDNA library of the venom glands of Scolopendra hainanum. ShSPI showed significant inhibitory effects on porcine pancreatic elastase and human neutrophils elastase with Ki values of 225.83 ± 20 nM and 12.61 ± 2 nM, respectively. Together, our results suggest that ShSPI may be an excellent candidate to develop a drug for cardiopulmonary diseases.

High performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) analysis showed that the content of chlorogenic acid in burdock standard water extract (BSWE) was about 1.22and#177;0.07 mg/g and no araciin and arctigenin was detected. The inulin was determined to be 174.33and#177;3.68 mg/g in BSWE by colorimetry method. The amino acids were analyzed by the amino acid analyzer and showed that asparagine and arginine are higher and determined to be 3021.00and#177;13.53mg/100g, 2042.33and#177;8.62mg/100g in BSWE, respectively. The results of aphrodisiac pharmacological experiments showed that the number of riding, insertions and the latency of rats in BSWE groups showed significant differences as compared with control, at the 7th day and 15th day after drug administration. Further study indicated that the aphrodisiac effect of BSWE is mostly associated with its regulation on NO, sialic acid and antioxidative ways and arginine should be one of the active components in BSWE.

Flaviviruses are single-stranded RNA viruses predominantly transmitted by the widely distributed Aedes mosquitoes in nature. As important human pathogens, the geographic reach of Flaviviruses and their threats to public health are increasing, but there is currently no approved specific drug for treatment. In recent years, the development of peptide antivirals has gained much attention. Natural host defense peptides which uniquely evolved to protect the hosts have been shown to have antiviral properties. In this study, we firstly collected the venom of the Alopecosa nagpag spider from Shangri-La County, Yunnan Province. A defense peptide named Av-LCTX-An1a (Antiviral-Lycotoxin-An1a) was identified from the spider venom, and its anti-dengue serotype-2 virus (DENV2) activity was verified in vitro. Moreover, a real-time fluorescence-based protease inhibition assay showed that An1a functions as a DENV2 NS2B&ndash, NS3 protease inhibitor. Furthermore, we also found that An1a restricts zika virus (ZIKV) infection by inhibiting the ZIKV NS2B&ndash, NS3 protease. Together, our findings not only demonstrate that An1a might be a candidate for anti-flavivirus drug but also indicate that spider venom is a potential resource library rich in antiviral precursor molecules.

New therapeutic agents for Candida albicans vaginitis are urgently awaiting to be developed because of the increasing antibiotic resistance of C. albicans. Antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) are one of the most promising choices for next-generation antibiotics. In this study, novel peptides were designed based on snake venom antimicrobial peptide cathelicidin-BF to promote anti-C. albicans activity and decrease side-effects. The designing strategies include substitutions of charged or hydrophobic amino acid residues for noncharged polar residues to promote antimicrobial activity and insertion of a hydrophobic residue in the hydrophilic side of the helix structure to reduce hemolysis. A designed tryptophan and lysine/arginine-rich cationic peptide 4 (ZY13) (VKRWKKWRWKWKKWV-NH2) exhibited excellent antimicrobial activity against either common strain or clinical isolates of antibiotic-resistant C. albicans with little hemolysis. Peptide 4 showed significant therapeutic effects on vaginitis in mice induced by the infection of clinical antibiotic-resistant C. albicans. The approaches herein might be useful for designing of AMPs.

As the key parts of a buffer pipeline, expansion joints are usually deformed by expansion of the heat pipe. Accurate measurement of the expansion deformation in real time is one of the necessary conditions for assessing the health of a heating network. In this paper, a detection method for the deformed state is proposed based on information measured by a distributed optical fiber sensing system. In the experiment, a new detector based on an optical fiber cable is constructed for information on the light intensity. Additionally, a numerical model relating the expansion deformation and the amplitude ratio of light intensity is constructed from the experimental data. This indicates that the maximum distance of measurement is more than 420 mm within a relative error of 8.5%. In addition, measurements can be made at temperatures from 26 °C to 85 °C, which is suitable for a heating network.

An autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) with the advantages of compact structure, good mobility and low-cost will be better used in the field of marine scientific research and military application. This paper introduces the bottom-level control subsystem and autonomous navigation algorithm of the low-cost AUV. In order to prove that the control system has good robustness, some simulations and lake tests were conducted. The results show inertial navigation algorithm based on AHRS, digital compass and GPS can achieve good performance.

Sparse extended information filter-based simultaneous localization and mapping (SEIF-based SLAM) algorithm can reflect significant advantages in terms of computation time and storage memories. However, SEIF-SLAM is easily prone to overconfidence due to sparsification strategy. In this paper we will consider the time consumption and information loss of sparse operation, and get the optimal sparse time. In order to verify the feasibility of sparsification, a sea trial for autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) C-Ranger was conducted in Tuandao Bay. The experimental results will show the improved algorithm is much more effective and accurate comparedwithothermethods.

For the exploration of gas hydrate resources by measuring the dissolved methane concentration in seawater, a continuous-wave cavity ringdown spectroscopy (CW-CRDS) experimental setup was constructed for trace methane detection. A current-modulation method, rather than a cavity-modulation method using an optical switch and a piezoelectric transducer, was employed to realize the cavity excitation and shutoff. Such a current-modulation method enabled the improvement of the experimental setup construction and stability, and the system size and stability are critical for a sensor to be deployed underwater. Ringdown data acquisition and processing were performed, followed by an evaluation of the experimental setup stability and sensitivity. The obtained results demonstrate that great errors are introduced when a large fitting window is selected if the analog-to-digital converter has an insufficient resolution. The ringdown spectrum of methane corresponding to the 2v3 band R(4) branch was captured, and the methane concentration in lab air was determined to be 2.06 ppm. Further experiments for evaluating the quantitative ability of this CW-CRDS experimental setup are underway from which a high-sensitivity methane sensor that can be combined with a degassing system is expected.

Psoriasis is histologically characterized by keratinocytes (KC) hyperproliferation, inflammation, and increased angiogenesis, but the pathological factor responsible for these symptoms is unknown. Here, a neuroendocrine peptide (prokineticin 2, PK2), is highly expressed in human and mouse psoriatic skins but no significant change in other autoimmune diseases, suggesting that PK2 is a psoriasis-specific factor. Bacterial products significantly up-regulated PK2, implying that infection induces PK2 over-expression. PK2 promoted KC and macrophage to produce interleukin-1 (IL-1), the central player of inflammation and psoriasis, which acts on adjacent fibroblast to induce inflammatory cascades and KC hyperproliferation. IL-1 feeds back on macrophages to induce PK2 production to perpetuate PK2-IL-1 positive feedback loop. PK2 also promoted angiogenesis, another psoriatic symptom. In mouse models, PK2 over-expression aggravated psoriasis while its knock-down inhibited pathological development. The results indicate that PK2 over-production perpetuates psoriatic symptoms by creating PK-2-IL-1 vicious loop. PK2 is a central player in psoriasis and a promising psoriasis-specific target., Highlights • High level of PK2 is found in psoriasis but not in other autoimmunity diseases. • Bacterial products induce PK2 over-expression to promote IL-1 signal. • IL-1 induces PK2 secretion to create a PK2-IL-1 circle to perpetuate symptoms. • PK2 is a central player in psoriasis and may be a psoriasis-specific target. Psoriasis is a common autoimmune disease whose pathogenesis remains poorly understood. We found that PK2 was highly expressed in psoriasis but not in other autoimmune diseases. To investigate the role of PK2 in psoriasis, the effect of PK2 on keratinocyte proliferation, inflammation and angiogenesis were analyzed. PK2 expression mediated by virus in psoriasis was applied. The results demonstrated that PK2 promoted psoriasis development. PK2 over-expression in mouse model aggravates psoriasis while knock-down of PK2 improves the disease. PK2 plays a pivotal role in psoriasis.

The Laser-induced fluorescence spectra combined with pattern recognition method has been widely applied in discrimination of different spilled oil, such as diesel, gasoline, and crude oil. However, traditional three-dimension fluorescence analysis method, which is not adapted to requirement of field detection, is limited to laboratory investigatio ns. The development of oil identification method for field detection is significant to quick response and operation of oil spill. In this paper, a new method based on laser-induced time-resolved fluorescence combined with support vector machine (SVM) model was introduced to discriminate crude oil samples. In this method, time-resolved spectra data was descended into two dimensions with selecting appropriate range in time and wavelength domains respectively to form a SVM data base. It is found that the classification accurate rate increased with an appropriate selection. With a selected range from 54 to 74 ns in time domain, the classification accurate rate has been increased from 83.3% (without selection) to 88.1%. With a selected wavelength range of 387.00~608.87 nm, the classification accurate rate of suspect oil was improved from 84% (without selection) to 100%. Since the detection delay of fluorescence lidar fluctuates due to wave and platform swing, the identification method with optimizing in both time and wavelength domains could offer a better flexibility for field applications. It is hoped that the developed method could provide some useful reference with data reduction for classification of suspect crude oil in the future development.

To evaluate the feasibility of laser induced time-resolved fluorescence technique for in-situ detection of underwater suspended oil spill, extensive investigations have been carried out with different densities of crude oil samples from six different wells of Shengli Oilfield in this work. It was found that the fluorescence emission durations of these crude oil samples were almost the same, the Gate Pulse Delay of DDG (Digital Delay Generator) in the ICCD started at 52ns and ended at 82ns with a width (FWHM) of 10 ns. It appears that the peak location and lifetime of fluorescence for different crude oil samples varied with their densities, and those with similar densities shared a similar lifespan with the closer peak locations of fluorescence. It is also observed that the peak of fluorescence remained the same location before reaching the maximum intensity, subsequently shift to longer wavelength as fluorescence attenuated from maximum intensity with a red shift among 17-30 nm varied with samples. This demonstrated that the decay rate of fluorescent components in the crude oils was different, and energy transfer between these components might exist. It is hoped that those obtained results and characteristics could be the useful information for identification of suspended spilled-oil underwater.

A novel catalyst was synthesized and used to remove the trace olefins in aromatic hydrocarbons. Laboratory experiments and industrial siding tests indicated that the catalyst could improve the conversion of olefins and prolong the lifetime more than the commercial particulate clay. X-ray diffraction proved that the modification did not change the structure to active clay, N2 adsorption–desorption showed a decrease in surface area, and pyridine FTIR suggested that the intercalation of metal halides increased the amount of the total acid, especially the weak Lewis acid.

Commercial clay modified with metal halides was prepared to remove olefins from aromatics in the laboratory, and its industrial test was conducted. Different amounts of metal-halides-modified clay were made and characterized by XRD and pyridine adsorption followed by FT-IR. The type and nature of active sites in the removal of olefins over the prepared catalysts have been examined. The study of acidic properties of the modified clay revealed that the L acid, especially the weak L acid plays an important role in the reaction. The experimental results revealed that commercial clay modified with metal halides had much better catalytic activity. During Sinopec Qilu company industrial test, modified clay had an effective running time six times as long as that of untreated commercial clay.

This study was to evaluate the use of green waste compost (GWC) as a growth media for rooting of Impatiens hawkeri. The experiments were divided into two sections. In the first experiment, GWC samples were collected periodically during a 60-d rapid composting period from a single windrow. A germination test was carried out previously in order to evaluate the phytotoxicity presence of GWC using Lepidium sativum L. (cress) as an indicator. Subsequently, five growth media were prepared containing 100%, 75%, 50% and 25% by volume of GWC with the corresponding peat as diluents, plus an untreated control (0 %). The same cuttings of Impatiens hawkeri were selected and potted into plugs. The germination tests showed that 45 days after rapid composting GWC could be considered to be mature. It was therefore concluded that GWC could be successfully used as a good adjuvant for peat substitutes for cutting propagation of Impatiens hawkeri in quantities of 25-50% by volume.

In this paper, a new method was developed to differentiate the spill oil samples. The synchronous fluorescence spectra in the lower nonlinear concentration range of 10(-2) - 10(-1) g x L(-1) were collected to get training data base. Radial basis function artificial neural network (RBF-ANN) was used to identify the samples sets, along with principal component analysis (PCA) as the feature extraction method. The recognition rate of the closely-related oil source samples is 92%. All the results demonstrated that the proposed method could identify the crude oil samples effectively by just one synchronous spectrum of the spill oil sample. The method was supposed to be very suitable to the real-time spill oil identification, and can also be easily applied to the oil logging and the analysis of other multi-PAHs or multi-fluorescent mixtures.

Investigate the specific antitumor mechanism of SOCS1 silent DC vaccine and discuss the prospect of RNAi in the gene therapy for laryngocarcinoma in order to provide novel ideas of DCs clinical applications.Dendritic cells derived from peripheral blood monocytes were cultured in vitro in the presence of GM-CSF, IL-4 and TNF-alpha. The morphological feature of DC was observed with inverted microscope. RNAi vector were transfected into DC. The expression of SOCS1 protein was detected with Western blot. The effective target sequences of siRNA against SOCS1 were screened out. The surface markers of mature DC, including CD83, CD86 and HLA-DR, were detected with flow cytometry. The concentration of IFN-gamma in the supernatant was assayed by ELISA. The proliferative ability of T cell stimulated by DC and the specific killing activity of cytotoxic T lymphocyte (CTL) induced by DC were evaluated by MTT assay.Dendritic cells were obtained successfully. The RNAi vector was proved to be right by sequencing. The expression of SOCS1 decreased significantly under the influence of the 5th interference sequence. SOCS1 silent dendritic cells which were loaded with Hep-2 antigen had high expressions of CD83 (85.61 +/- 0.96)%, CD86 (96.86 +/- 1.20)% and HLA-DR (98.02 +/- 0.94)%. It could also stimulate the proliferation of T cells effectively as well as could increase the production of IFN-gamma, eventually enhanced the specific killing effect of CTL. The killing activity was more higher than that in control group when the effect cells and target cells were mixed up at the ratio of 50:1 (P0.01).SOCS1 silent DC vaccines which were loaded with Hep-2 antigen could induce effective and specific anti-laryngocarcinoma immune responses.

In the present paper, concentration as an auxiliary parameter was introduced to the synchronous fluorescence to form concentration synchronous fluorescence matrix of the oil spill samples within the concentration range of 10(-1)-10 g x L(-1). Principal component analysis was used to classify the oil spill samples of 0# diesel, 93# gasoline and 5 crude oil simples from the Shengli oilfield. Experiments show that the introducing of concentration can reflect more composition information of the PAHs. This newly method has a better discrimination than the routine method of the synchronous fluorescence spectra obtained from spill oil samples in linear concentration range. It indicates that the spill oil samples of different type and source can be discriminated precisely, even from the same oilfield. The influence of the errors caused in the samples extraction procedure can be eliminated. All the results suggest that the technique may become a more convenient, rapid and accurate means in spill oil identification.
