In this study, we investigate the potential of heavy quarkonia within a magnetized hot QGP medium having finite momentum anisotropy. The phenomenon of inverse magnetic catalysis is introduced into the system, influencing the magnetic field-modified Debye mass and thereby altering the effective quark masses. Concurrently, the impact of momentum anisotropy in the medium is considered that influence the particle distribution in the medium. The thermal decay width and dissociation temperature of quarkonium states, specifically the 1S and 2S states of charmonium and bottomonium, are computed. Our results reveal that both momentum anisotropy and the inverse magnetic catalysis effects play a significant role in modifying the thermal decay width and dissociation temperature of these heavy quarkonia states., Comment: 14 pages, 10 figures, 2 tables

In this paper, we present explicit expressions for conforming finite element function spaces, basis functions, and degrees of freedom on the pentatope and tetrahedral prism elements. More generally, our objective is to construct finite element function spaces that maintain conformity with infinite-dimensional spaces of a carefully chosen de Rham complex. This paper is a natural extension of the companion paper entitled "Conforming Finite Element Function Spaces in Four Dimensions, Part I: Foundational Principles and the Tesseract" by Nigam and Williams, (2023). In contrast to Part I, in this paper we focus on two of the most popular elements which do not possess a full tensor-product structure in all four coordinate directions. We note that these elements appear frequently in existing space-time finite element methods. In order to build our finite element spaces, we utilize powerful techniques from the recently developed 'Finite Element Exterior Calculus'. The stability, robustness, accuracy, and efficiency of space-time finite element methods crucially depend on the choice of approximation spaces for test and trial functions. This is especially true for high-order, mixed finite element methods which often must satisfy an inf-sup condition in order to ensure stability. With this in mind, the primary objective of this paper and a companion paper is to provide a wide range of explicitly stated, conforming, finite element spaces in four-dimensions. In this paper, we construct explicit high-order conforming finite elements on 4-cubes (tesseracts); our construction uses tools from the recently developed `Finite Element Exterior Calculus'. With a focus on practical implementation, we provide details including Piola-type transformations, and explicit expressions for the volumetric, facet, face, edge, and vertex degrees of freedom. The proliferation of misinformation and propaganda is a global challenge, with profound effects during major crises such as the COVID-19 pandemic and the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Understanding the spread of misinformation and its social impacts requires identifying the news sources spreading false information. While machine learning (ML) techniques have been proposed to address this issue, ML models have failed to provide an efficient implementation scenario that yields useful results. In prior research, the precision of deployment in real traffic deteriorates significantly, experiencing a decrement up to ten times compared to the results derived from benchmark data sets. Our research addresses this gap by proposing a graph-based approach to capture navigational patterns and generate traffic-based features which are used to train a classification model. These navigational and traffic-based features result in classifiers that present outstanding performance when evaluated against real traffic. Moreover, we also propose graph-based filtering techniques to filter out models to be classified by our framework. These filtering techniques increase the signal-to-noise ratio of the models to be classified, greatly reducing false positives and the computational cost of deploying the model. Our proposed framework for the detection of misinformation domains achieves a precision of 0.78 when evaluated in real traffic. This outcome represents an improvement factor of over ten times over those achieved in previous studies.

Using CaWO$_4$ crystals as cryogenic calorimeters, the CRESST experiment searches for nuclear recoils caused by the scattering of potential Dark Matter particles. A reliable identification of a potential signal crucially depends on an accurate background model. In this work we introduce an improved normalisation method for CRESST's model of the electromagnetic backgrounds. Spectral templates, based on Geant4 simulations, are normalised via a Bayesian likelihood fit to experimental background data. Contrary to our previous work, no assumption of partial secular equilibrium is required, which results in a more robust and versatile applicability. Furthermore, considering the correlation between all background components allows us to explain 82.7% of the experimental background within [1 keV, 40 keV], an improvement of 18.6% compared to our previous method., Comment: 24 pages, 14 figures, submitted to EPJC

We study the heavy quark energy loss in the presence of a background magnetic field. The analysis considers the high magnetic field generated by spectators from initial hard collisions that were incorporated using the medium-modified Debye mass, determined from quark condensates at finite temperature and magnetic field via recent lattice quantum chromodynamics (LQCD) calculations. We analyse the impact of medium polarization on the heavy quark propagation in a quark-gluon plasma formed in relativistic heavy-ion colliders like RHIC and LHC. For simplification, we considered the static medium with constant temperature and magnetic field values. Then, we explore the nuclear modification factor ($R_{AA}$) at different magnitudes of magnetic field strengths at fixed temperatures. New-generation direct searches for low mass dark matter feature detection thresholds at energies well below 100 eV, much lower than the energies of commonly used X-ray calibration sources. This requires new calibration sources with sub-keV energies. When searching for nuclear recoil signals, the calibration source should ideally cause mono-energetic nuclear recoils in the relevant energy range. Recently, a new calibration method based on the radiative neutron capture on $^{182}$W with subsequent de-excitation via single $\gamma$-emission leading to a nuclear recoil peak at 112 eV was proposed. The CRESST-III dark matter search operated several CaWO$_{4}$-based detector modules with detection thresholds below 100 eV in the past years. We report the observation of a peak around the expected energy of 112 eV in the data of three different detector modules recorded while irradiated with neutrons from different AmBe calibration sources. We compare the properties of the observed peaks with Geant-4 simulations and assess the prospects of using this for the energy calibration of CRESST-III detectors., Comment: 8 pages, 4 figures; submitted to Phys. We present limits on the spin-independent interaction cross section of dark matter particles with silicon nuclei, derived from data taken with a cryogenic calorimeter with 0.35 g target mass operated in the CRESST-III experiment. A baseline nuclear recoil energy resolution of $(1.36\pm 0.05)$ eV$_{\text{nr}}$, currently the lowest reported for macroscopic particle detectors, and a corresponding energy threshold of $(10.0\pm 0.2)$ eV$_{\text{nr}}$ have been achieved, improving the sensitivity to light dark matter particles with masses below 160 MeV/c$^2$ by a factor of up to 20 compared to previous results. The CRESST experiment employs cryogenic calorimeters for the sensitive measurement of nuclear recoils induced by dark matter particles. The recorded signals need to undergo a careful cleaning process to avoid wrongly reconstructed recoil energies caused by pile-up and read-out artefacts. We frame this process as a time series classification task and propose to automate it with neural networks. With a data set of over one million labeled records from 68 detectors, recorded between 2013 and 2019 by CRESST, we test the capability of four commonly used neural network architectures to learn the data cleaning task. Our best performing model achieves a balanced accuracy of 0.932 on our test set. We show on an exemplary detector that about half of the wrongly predicted events are in fact wrongly labeled events, and a large share of the remaining ones have a context-dependent ground truth. We furthermore evaluate the recall and selectivity of our classifiers with simulated data. The propagation of internal gravity waves in stratified media, such as those found in ocean basins and lakes, leads to the development of geometrical patterns called "attractors". These structures accumulate much of the wave energy and make the fluid flow highly singular. In more analytical terms, the cause of this phenomenon has been attributed to the presence of a continuous spectrum in some nonlocal zeroth-order pseudo-differential operators. In this work, we analyze the generation of these attractors from a numerical analysis perspective. First, we propose a high-order pseudo-spectral method to solve the evolution problem (whose long-term behaviour is known to be not square-integrable). Then, we use similar tools to discretize the corresponding eigenvalue problem. Since the eigenvalues are embedded in a continuous spectrum, we compute them using viscous approximations. Dual-phase xenon time projection chamber (TPC) detectors have demonstrated superior search sensitivities to dark matter over a wide range of particle masses. To extend their sensitivity to include low-mass dark matter interactions, it is critical to characterize both the light and charge responses of liquid xenon to sub-keV nuclear recoils. In this work, we report a new nuclear recoil calibration in the LUX detector $\textit{in situ}$ using neutron events from a pulsed Adelphi Deuterium-Deuterium neutron generator. We demonstrate direct measurements of light and charge yields down to 0.45 keV (1.4 scintillation photons) and 0.27 keV (1.3 ionization electrons), respectively, approaching the physical limit of liquid xenon detectors. We discuss the implication of these new measurements on the physics reach of dual-phase xenon TPCs for nuclear-recoil-based low-mass dark matter detection.

In this paper we revisit an approach pioneered by Auchmuty to approximate solutions of the Laplace- Robin boundary value problem. We demonstrate the efficacy of this approach on a large class of non-tensorial domains, in contrast with other spectral approaches for such problems. We establish a spectral approximation theorem showing an exponential fast numerical evaluation with regards to the number of Steklov eigenfunctions used, for smooth domains and smooth boundary data. A polynomial fast numerical evaluation is observed for either non-smooth domains or non-smooth boundary data. We additionally prove a new result on the regularity of the Steklov eigenfunctions, depending on the regularity of the domain boundary. We describe three numerical methods to compute Steklov eigenfunctions.

CRESST is a leading direct detection sub-$\mathrm{GeVc}^{-2}$ dark matter experiment. During its second phase, cryogenic bolometers were used to detect nuclear recoils off the $\mathrm{CaWO}_4$ target crystal nuclei. The previously established electromagnetic background model relies on secular equilibrium (SE) assumptions. In this work, a validation of SE is attempted by comparing two likelihood-based normalisation results using a recently developed spectral template normalisation method based on Bayesian likelihood.
