In this paper, we obtain some Korovkin type approximation theorems for double sequences of positive linear operators on two-dimensional weighted spaces via statistical type convergence method with respect to power series method. Additionally, we calculate the rate of convergence. As an application, we provide an approximation using the generalization of Gadjiev-Ibragimov operators for Pp-statistical convergence. Our results are meaningful and stronger than those previously given for two-dimensional weighted spaces. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In the present work, using statistical convergence with respect to power series methods, we obtain various Korovkin-type approximation theorems for linear operators defined on derivatives of functions. Then we give an example satisfying our approximation theorem. We study certain rate of convergence related to this method. In the final section we summarize these results to emphasize the importance of the study.

Objectives: The purpose of the study was to contribute further to this debated topic by investigating the correlation of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) findings with the clinical picture in lumbar spondylosis patients. Patients and methods: This multicenter retrospective study (as part of the epidemiological project of the TLAR-OASG [Turkish League Against Rheumatism-Osteoarthritis Study Group]) included 514 patients (101 males, 413 females; mean age: 63.6±10.8 years; range, 40 to 85 years) who were diagnosed as lumbar spondylosis by clinical examination and direct X-ray between December 2016 and June 2018. Demographic characteristics of patients, Visual Analog Scale for pain, presence of radiating pain, Roland-Morris disability questionnaire, straight leg raise test, deep tendon reflexes, neurogenic intermittent claudication symptoms, any decrease of muscle strength, and abnormality of sensation were recorded. Lumbar MRI findings of the patients were recorded as positive or negative in terms of disc herniation, intervertebral disc degeneration, root compression, osteophytes, spinal stenosis. Statistical analysis was done to assess the correlation between the clinical symptoms, physical examination, and MRI findings. Results: Correlation analysis of the MRI results and the clinical findings showed a significant correlation between straight leg raise test and root compression (p Conclusion: The results of this study corroborate the notion that diligent patient history and physical examination are more valuable than MRI findings, even though a higher incidence of abnormal MRI findings have been obtained in patients with disability and dermatomal radiating pain.

To evaluate of hepatitis serology and reactivation frequency in patients with rheumatic disease receiving biologic agents. Our study included patients with inflammatory rheumatic diseases from 23 centers, who were followed up with biological therapy. Demographic and clinical characteristics of the patients, duration of drug use and hepatitis serology and the state of viral reactivation were analyzed. A total of 4060 patients, 2095 being males, were included in our study. Of the patients, 2463 had Ankylosing Spondylitis (AS), 1154 had Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA), 325 had Psoriatic Arthritis (PsA), and 118 had other inflammatory rheumatic diseases. When the viral serology of the patients was evaluated, 79 patients (2%) who were identified as HBs Ag positive, 486 (12%) patients who were HBs Ag negative and anti-HBc IgG positive and 20 patients (0.5%) who were anti-HCV positive. When evaluated on a disease-by-disease basis, the rate of HBsAg was found to be 2.5% in RA, 2% in AS and 0.9% in PsA. Viral reactivation was detected in 13 patients while receiving biologic agents. HBs Ag was positive in nine patients with reactivation and negative in four patients. Anti-HBc IgG, however, was positive. Six of these patients had AS, four had RA, and three had PsA. The development of hepatitis reactivation in 11.4% of HBs Ag positive patients and 0.82% of anti-HBc IgG positive patients due to the use of biologic agents is an important problem for this group of patients. Antiviral prophylaxis is recommended to be started especially in patients who are HBs Ag positive and who are using biologic agents due to viral reactivation. Therefore, it is important to carry out hepatitis screenings before biologic agent treatment and to carefully evaluate the vaccination and prophylaxis requirements. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature.

In the present paper we give some criteria for statistical convergence with respect to power series method. The main tool for providing this result is the inverse Fourier transformation. We will also deal with sequences x that admit a factorization $$x=yz$$ in which y is strongly convergent and z is statistically convergent with respect to a power series method.

Background and Objectives: This study investigated the impact of nutritional status and foods consumed on inflammation and disease activity in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Materials and Methods: We designed a cross-sectional observational study, involving 110 patients diagnosed with RA. The patients included were between 18 and 75 years old, diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis two years ago or earlier, with stable treatment for the last 8 weeks. Data on anthropometric parameters, body mass composition, nutritional status, individual food consumption records, inflammation, disease activity, quality of life, clinical, and laboratory parameters were collected for each study participant. The evaluation parameters of the patients were the simple disease activity index (SDAI), clinical disease activity index (CDAI), systemic immune-inflammation index (SII) and individual food consumption records. A bioimpedance device and measuring tape were used to take body composition and anthropometric measurements of the patients. Results: According to the body mass index, waist circumference and waist-to-height ratio, in our study, we found that 60% of the patients were obese, 80% were at a very high health risk, and approximately 91% were in need of nutritional treatment. There was a significant negative correlation between the dietary intake of total energy, total fat, omega 3, calcium, zinc, cobalamin and the disease activity (SDAI, CDAI). There was a significant negative correlation between polyunsaturated fatty acids, omega 3, carotene, vitamin E, selenium and the SII. Additionally, there was a positive correlation between omega 6 and the SII, SDAI, CDAI (p < 0.05). Conclusions: The results of this study show that the foods consumed in the nutrition of RA patients may have effects on their inflammation and disease activity.

INTRODUCTION[|]The aim of this study was to examine how much recovery upper obstetric brachial plexus palsy (OBPP) patients showed with exercises when they were 3, 6, and 12 months old and to evaluate whether the exercise treatment given at different frequencies contributes to this recovery or not.[¤]METHODS[|]This study was designed as a randomized controlled trial. Sixty cases who were referred to Pediatric Rehabilitation and Pediatric Orthopedic Clinics with the diagnosis of having Groups I and II OBPP according to Narakas classification were included in the study. Subjects were randomly divided into two treatment groups. The first group had intense exercise program 3 times daily, and the second group had a standard exercise program once in a day. The subjects were assessed using a passive-active range of motion (ROM) and hospital for sick children muscle grading system at their first clinic visit and every month after until they became 12 months old.[¤]RESULTS[|]In both groups, a significant recovery was observed in ROM and muscle strength of all movements of the shoulder, elbow flexion, and forearm supination at the 3rd, 6th, and 12th-month reassessments, whereas a significant difference was not achieved on both parameters between two groups.[¤]DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSION[|]According to the results, exercise frequency did not affect the recovery rate and results in the cases with OBPP and exercises were influential against possible complications that may occur.[¤]

INTRODUCTION[|]Lateral epicondylitis is a common elbow problem. Although extracorporeal shockwave therapy (ESWT) is widely used in the treatment of lateral epicondylitis, its efficacy is still controversial. Moreover, the number of prospective, randomized, controlled studies in the literature is not sufficient. Here, we intend to investigate the efficacy of ESWT.[¤]METHODS[|]The study was randomized, placebo-controlled, double-blind, and prospectively planned. Forty patients who met the inclusion criteria were divided into two groups, real ESWT (Group 1, n=20) and placebo ESWT (Group 2, n=20), in a 1: 1 randomized closed envelope manner. Patients were evaluated for Patient-Rated Tennis Elbow Evaluation-Turkish Version (PRTEE-T), visual analog scale (VAS) pain scores, and grip and pinching strengths. The evaluation were performed thrice before, at the end of treatment and 1 month after treatment. Both groups were treated with wrist splinting, ice treatment, and rest.[¤]RESULTS[|]There was no statistical difference between sex and dominant hand in both groups. There was no significant difference in the grasp and pinching strength between the measurements of the groups themselves (p>0.05). When examined in terms of VAS scores, only significant changes were found in the actual ESWT group (p0.05).[¤]DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSION[|]Although pain and functional improvement were more prominent in our patients treated with ESWT than placebo, no statistically significant results were found.[¤]

Hypermobility is defined as an abnormally increased range of motion of a joint resulting from the excessive laxity of the soft tissues. This paper is focused on this commonly forgotten cause of several morbidities. The etiology of hypermobility is not very well known. One decade ago, joint hypermobility syndrome was considered as a benign condition, but now it is recognized as a significant contributor to chronic musculoskeletal pain, besides impacting on other organs. Patients with joint hypermobility syndrome often have diffuse, chronic complaints that are inconsistent with the musculoskeletal system. Chronic pain may cause loss of proprioception and so increased sensitivity to microtrauma, premature osteoarthritis de- velopment, soft tissue problems, psychosocial disorders, and neurophysiological deficiencies. Osteoarthritis, pes planus, mechanical low back pain, and soft tissue rheumatisms are frequent musculoskeletal findings as well as subluxations, thoracic outlet syndrome, rectal and uterine prolapses, hernias, and stress incontinence. Joint hypermobility syndrome's treatment is not easy, and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs are not usually effective or adequate. Proprioceptive and strengthening exercises have been reported to have supportive and therapeutic effects, but we have limited data on this issue. Joint hypermobility syndrome must be accepted as a multisystem connective tissue disorder rather than just joint laxities. As a result; clinicians must be aware of complexities of connective tissue disorders and comorbidities. [Arch Clin Exp Surg 2016; 5(2.000): 105-112]
