Abstract

The properties of three-jet events with total transverse energy greater than 320 GeV and individual jet energy greater than 20 GeV have been analyzed and compared to absolute predictions from a next-to-leading order (NLO) perturbative QCD calculation. These data, of integrated luminosity 86 pb^-1, were recorded by the CDF Experiment for proton-antiproton collisions at sqrt{s}=1.8 TeV. This study tests a model of higher order QCD processes that result in gluon emission and can be used to estimate the magnitude of the contribution of processes higher than NLO. The total cross section is measured to be 466 +/- 3(stat.)^{+207}_{-70}(syst.) pb. The differential cross section is furthermore measured for all kinematically accessible regions of the Dalitz plane, including those for which the theoretical prediction is unreliable. While the measured cross section is consistent with the theoretical prediction in magnitude, the two differ somewhat in shape in the Dalitz plane.

30. Sustitución de comunidades y concentración de nutrientes en plantas tras incendios forestales en una cuenca subárida del S.E. de España

Abstract

Specific plant communities replacement in a subarid basin (Sierra de Almijara, S.E. Spain) is described related with internal concentration of C, N and compartimental P in several post-fire representative and dominant species. Plots were burnt 1, 6, 12 and 30 years before respectively, because fire is a recurrent phenomenon in that mediterranean shrublands. Juniperus oxycedrus is typical of the advanced stages of succession and presents low concentration of P and N, specially in old plants. Genista spartioides minimizes C:N ratio due to its symbiotic activity; and Cistus clusii shows an active cumulative metabolism specially in that concerning the phosphorus retention. In the frame of the general theory of sucession, C . clusii takes advantages of its ability to internalize high concentration of phosphate and Fabaceae of N accumulation. A dilution effect is detected in plants which are characteristic of the vegetation at the end of recolonization. Se describe la sustitución de comunidades tras incendios en una cuenca subárida (Sierra de Almijara, S.E. España), en relación con las concentraciones de carbono, nitrógeno y varios compartimentos de fósforo en tejidos de 5 especies de plantas representativas, en parcelas incendiadas hace 1, 6, 12 y 30 años respectivamente. El fuego se presenta de modo recurrente en estos matorrales mediterráneos. Juniperus oxycedrus, propia de formaciones de monte alto y de etapas avanzadas de la sucesión, presenta bajas concentraciones de P y N, especialmente en plantas viejas. Genista spartioides minimiza el indice C:N debido a su actividad simbiótica; y Cistus clusii muestra un activo metabolismo acumulador especialmente en lo que se refiere a la retención de fósforo. En el marco de la teoria general de la sucesión, C.clusii obtendria ventajas de su habilidad para internalizar altas concentraciones de fosfato y especies de la familia Fabaceae de su capacidad de acumulación de nitrógeno. En plantas caractensticas de las fases finales de la recolonización, se ha detectado un efecto de dilución de 10s nutrientes internos a medida que transcurre el tiempo tras el incendio.

Abstract

[EN] Recent fieldworks in the Abreda cave have made it possible to reinterpret the data available on level A, the last from the Pleistocene, deposited before a wide red clay stratum with Neolithic ceramics, which closes the sequence in that site. Level A displays extreme archaeological poverty, and until now we described is simply as Post Solutrean. Now for the first time we rcan attribute it, at least in good part, to the Middle Magdalenian because of stratigraphic and typological reasons. A radiocarbon dating of 14C AMS 13,704 += 41 uncal BP confirms this attribution. Until now, the Magdalenian was only known in Serinyà in the Bora Gran d'En Carreras, as it was missing in all the sites in the Reclau area., [ES] Las últimas campañas de excavación en la cueva de la Arbreda han permitido reinterpretar los antiguos datos disponibles sobre el nivel A, el último de edad pleistocena, que precede un potente estrato de arcillas rojkas con cerámicas y restos neolíticos que sella el yacimiento. Es de una extrema pobreza arqueológica y hasta ahora lo calificábamos simplemente como postsolutrense. Ahora por primera vez podemos atribuirlo, por lo menos en buena parte, al Magdaleniense Medio, por razones estratigráficas y tipológicas, Una datación 14C AMS 13.704 += uncal BP confirma esta atribución. Hasta ahora el Magdaleniense solo era conocido en Serinyà en la Bora Gran d'En Carreras, pues faltaba en todos los yacimientos del paraje del Reclau.

Abstract

We present a measurement of relative partial widths and decay rate CP asymmetries in K−K+ and π−π+ decays of D0 mesons produced in pp¯ collisions at s√=1.96 TeV. We use a sample of 2×105 D*+→D0π+ (and charge conjugate) decays with the D0 decaying to K−π+, K−K+, and π−π+, corresponding to 123 pb−1 of data collected by the Collider Detector at Fermilab II experiment at the Fermilab Tevatron collider. No significant direct CP violation is observed. We measure Γ(D0→K−K+)/Γ(D0→K−π+)=0.0992±0.0011±0.0012, Γ(D0→π−π+)/Γ(D0→K−π+)=0.035 94±0.000 54±0.000 40, ACP(K−K+)=(2.0±1.2±0.6)%, and ACP(π−π+)=(1.0±1.3±0.6)%, where, in all cases, the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic.
