Abstract Background Myocardial infarction (MI) is an acute condition in which the heart muscle dies due to the lack of blood supply. Previous research has suggested that autophagy and angiogenesis play vital roles in the prevention of heart failure after MI, and miR‐106a is considered to be an important regulatory factor in MI. But the specific mechanism remains unknown. In this study, using cultured venous endothelial cells and a rat model of MI, we aimed to identify the potential target genes of miR‐106a and discover the mechanisms of inhibiting autophagy and angiogenesis. Methods We first explored the biological functions of miR‐106a on autophagy and angiogenesis on endothelial cells. Then we identified ATG7, which was the downstream target gene of miR‐106a. The expression of miR‐106a and ATG7 was investigated in the rat model of MI. Results We found that miR‐106a inhibits the proliferation, cell cycle, autophagy and angiogenesis, but promoted the apoptosis of vein endothelial cells. Moreover, ATG7 was identified as the target of miR‐106a, and ATG7 rescued the inhibition of autophagy and angiogenesis by miR‐106a. The expression of miR‐106a in the rat model of MI was decreased but the expression of ATG7 was increased in the infarction areas. Conclusion Our results indicate that miR‐106a may inhibit autophagy and angiogenesis by targeting ATG7. This mechanism may be a potential therapeutic treatment for MI.

Abstract Objective This study aimed to understand the composition and influencing factors of epilepsy patients’ hospitalization expenses, thus providing a reference for reducing the disease burden of epilepsy patients in low- and middle-income developing countries. Methods A total of 4206 hospitalized cases of epilepsy from 2018 to 2020 were collected. Descriptive statistics were used to understand the patient cost composition, path analysis was used to understand the direct and indirect factors of hospitalization expenses. Results From 2018 to 2020, the average hospitalization expenses for epilepsy patients was 4,299.93 RMB yuan, and the average length of stay was 2.47 days. The highest proportion of hospitalization expenses was diagnosis costs (> 50%), followed by comprehensive medical service costs and drug costs. In terms of the total effect coefficient, the major factors affecting the hospitalization expenses were length of stay (0.880), emergency admission(0.463), and the comorbidities and complications(> 0.250). Hospital length of stay, discharge mode(death) and number of hospitalizations(2 times) affect hospitalization expenses through direct effect. Long-term hospitalization (> 30 days), admission routes(emergency), the comorbidities and complications, presence of drug allergy, and age also affect hospitalization expenses through indirect effects. Conclusion Diagnosis costs and length of stay are important factors affecting the medical expenses of epilepsy inpatients. In general, the quality control of the hospital is good, but it still needs to standardize the diagnosis and treatment behavior of medical staff through the clinical path.

Abstract Background The inter-reviewer reliability of the risk of bias (RoB) assessment lacked agreement in previous studies. It is important to analyse these disagreements to improve the repeatability of RoB assessment. The objective of the study was to evaluate the frequency and reasons for disagreements in RoB assessments for randomised controlled trials (RCTs) that were included in multiple Cochrane reviews in the field of hypertension. Methods A cross-sectional study was employed. We retrieved any RCTs that had been included in multiple Cochrane reviews in the field of hypertension from ARCHIE. The results of the RoB assessments were extracted, and the distributions of agreements and possible reasons for disagreement were analyzed. Results Twenty-six Cochrane reviews were included in this study. A total of 78 RCTs appeared in more than one Cochrane review. The level of agreement ranged from domain to domain. “Blinding of outcome assessment” showed a reasonably high level of agreement (94.9%), while “incomplete outcome data”, “selective outcome reporting” and “other sources of bias” showed moderate levels of agreement (74.6%, 79.2% and 75.6%, respectively). However, the domains of “allocation concealment”, “random sequence generation” and “blinding of participants and personnel” showed low levels of agreement (24.4%, 23.5%, and 47.4%, respectively). In recent years, numerous evidence has suggested that human NEU1 is also involved in the pathogenesis of various respiratory diseases, including lung infection, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), asthma, and pulmonary fibrosis. This review paper aims to provide an overview of the current research on human NEU1 and respiratory diseases.

Virtual urban green environment images and audio stimuli had been proven to have restorative effects on subjects’ physical and mental health. In this area, researchers predominantly focused on visual, auditory and olfactory aspects, while tactile and gustatory senses have been minimally explored. However, the optimal combination of sensory stimuli for promoting physical and mental recovery remains unclear. Therefore, a simulated sensory stimulation approach involving 240 participants was employed, with 30 individuals included in each of the eight experimental groups: the visual–auditory (VA), visual–auditory-olfactory (VAO), visual–auditory-tactile (VAT), visual–auditory-gustatory(VAG), visual–auditory-olfactory-tactile (VAOT), visual–auditory-olfactory-gustatory (VAOG), visual–auditory-tactile-gustatory (VATG), and visual–auditory-olfactory-tactile-gustatory (VAOTG) groups. This study aimed to explore the differences in participants’ physiological and psychological health recovery after exposure to different combinations of simulated sensory stimuli in virtual UGSs. In this paper, we study the quantum security of block ciphers based on Simon’s period-finding quantum algorithm. We explored the relations between periodic functions and truncated differentials. The basic observation is that truncated differentials with a probability of 1 can be used to construct periodic functions, and two such constructions are presented with the help of a new notion called difference-annihilation matrix. This technique releases us from the tedious manual work of verifying the period of functions. Based on these new constructions, we find an 8-round quantum distinguisher for LBlock and a 9/10/11/13/15-round quantum distinguisher for SIMON-32/48/64/96/128 which are the best results as far as we know. Besides, to explore the security bounds of block cipher structures against Simon’s algorithm based quantum attacks, the unified structure, which unifies the Feistel, Lai-Massey, and most generalized Feistel structures, is studied. We estimate the exact round number of probability 1 truncated differentials that one can construct. Based on these results, one can easily check the quantum security of specific block ciphers that are special cases of unified structures, when the details of the non-linear building blocks are not considered.

Objective The objective of this study was to compare ultrasound features and establish a predictive nomogram for distinguishing between triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) and non-TNBC.Design A retrospective cohort study.Setting This study was conducted at Quanzhou First Hospital, a grade A tertiary hospital in Quanzhou, China, with the research data set covering the period from September 2019 to August 2023.Participants The study included a total of 205 female patients with confirmed TNBC and 574 female patients with non-TNBC, who were randomly divided into a training set and a validation set at a ratio of 7:3.Main outcome measures All patients underwent ultrasound examination and received a confirmatory pathological diagnosis. Nodules were classified according to the Breast Imaging-Reporting and Data System standard. Subsequently, the study conducted a comparative analysis of clinical characteristics and ultrasonic features.Results A statistically significant difference was observed in multiple clinical and ultrasonic features between TNBC and non-TNBC. Tenghuang Jiangu Wan (THJGW) is a commonly utilized treatment for osteoarthritis (OA), yet its pharmacodynamic material basis and molecular mechanism remain inadequately understood. This study systematically characterized the in vitro and in vivo chemical components of THJGW using ultra-performance liquid chromatography-quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry (UPLC-Q-TOF-MS). The pharmacodynamic material basis of THJGW in the treatment of OA was explored through a target network pharmacology approach and molecular docking technology. Cellular experiments were subsequently employed to validate the molecular mechanisms. Consequently, a total of 134 components from THJGW were identified in vitro, comprising 45 flavonoids, 10 iridoid glycosides, 39 phenylethanoid glycosides, 9 phenylpropanoids, 11 organic acids, 4 phenolics, and 16 other compounds. Additionally, 38 prototype absorbed components in serum were characterized for the purpose of network construction. 11 key components and 10 core targets (VEGFA, STAT3, RELA/NF-κB p65, PIK3R1, PIK3CA, MMP9, MMP1, IL-6, HDAC1, and FGF2) were determined by the target network pharmacology. Through Gene Ontology (GO) enrichment and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) pathway analysis, it was found that these intersection targets are associated with various signaling pathways such as pathways in cancer, lipid and atherosclerosis, and prostate cancer. Notably, the lipid and atherosclerosis pathway was closely linked to OA. The molecular docking results demonstrated strong binding affinities of the three core targets: IL-6, STAT3, and RELA/NF-κB p65. These results suggest that these targets may play a significant role for THJGW in treating OA. In vitro experiments showed that THJGW had notable protective effects on LPS-induced RAW264.7 macrophages by reducing levels of TNF-α and IL-6, and inhibiting phosphorylation expression of STAT3 and NF-κB p65 proteins related to the lipid and atherosclerosis pathway. This study provides insight into the pharmacodynamic material basis and mechanism of action for THJGW in the treatment of OA, which provide scientific evidence for the scientific application and improvement of quality standards for THJGW.

Frequency-hopping sequences (FHSs) have a decisive influence on the whole frequency-hopping communication system. The Hamming correlation function plays an important role in evaluating the performance of FHSs. Constructing FHS sets that meet the theoretical bounds is crucial for the research and development of frequency-hopping communication systems. In this paper, three new classes of optimal FHSs based on trace functions are constructed. Two of them are optimal FHSs and the corresponding periodic Hamming autocorrelation value is calculated by using the known Gaussian period. It is shown that the new FHSs are optimal according to the Lempel-Greenberger bound. The third class of FHSs is the near-optimal FHSs.

Numerous studies have demonstrated the benefits of understory spaces and plants on human well-being, but most spatial research has focused on a horizontal perspective. Additionally, there is a lack of research on the effects of plant color on human recovery, especially with respect to color proportions. This study classifies the leaf colors of trees in autumn, which are observed from a looking-up perspective, into green, red, and yellow. On this basis, we created monochromatic, two-color, and three-color groups with varying color proportions to assess their recovery effects and preferences. A total of 30 participants participated in this experiment, and their physiological, psychological, and preference-related indicators were evaluated. The results revealed that the following. (1) The two-color groups had the greatest reduction effect on systolic blood pressure. Monochromatic groups were most effective at reducing diastolic blood pressure. The three-color groups had the greatest effect on lowering the pulse rate. (2) EEG responses varied by color type. (3) The three-color groups had the best recovery effects on the psychological measures. (4) The three-color groups were most favored by participants, with a red–yellow–green ratio of 0.2/0.4/0.4 being the most preferred. These findings demonstrate the differing recovery potentials of various leaf color proportions from a looking-up perspective. This study can provide valuable references for the planning and design of urban forest parks, supplementing the theoretical foundation and research framework for evaluating and creating environments that meet people’s restorative needs.

To investigate the relationship between sports participation and sport trait confidence, 1659 teenagers in primary and secondary schools who regularly play football were asked to complete the Sports Participation Scale, Collective Self-Esteem Scale, Self-Esteem Scale, and Sport Trait Confidence Scale. The results show that (1) the positive prediction of football participation on sport trait confidence is not significant; (2) collective self-esteem and self-esteem play a mediating role between football participation and sport trait confidence; (3) the mediating effect occurs through three pathways. The study provides theoretical guidance and empirical evidence for the lead and intervention of adolescent football participation on sport trait confidence. This study created a chain-mediated model to examine the mediating role of collective self-esteem and self-esteem in their relationship, as well as the impact of the two as chain mediators on football participation and sport trait confidence.

Abstract Objective To investigate the influencing factors on the quality of acupuncture clinical trials from the stakeholders, and to provide references for improving the quality of acupuncture clinical trials. Methods A qualitative study based on semi-structured interviews was performed. Experts, acupuncturists, editors, and patients were interviewed. The interview results were thematically analyzed from transcribed audio recordings. Results A total of 38 stakeholders were interviewed, including 12 experts, 14 acupuncturists, 2 editors, and 10 patients. There were 25 tree nodes and 106 sub-nodes, with 1141 reference points. The key factors influencing the quality of acupuncture clinical trials could be divided into five core theme frameworks: a) trial design, b) trial conduction, c) research results reporting and publication, d) research evidence dissemination, and e) research evidence transformation and application. Conclusions The results reveal that to improve the quality of acupuncture trials, it should consider each step of trial design, trial conduction, research results reporting and publication, research evidence dissemination, and research evidence transformation and application. A guideline for quality control of the whole process of acupuncture clinical trials is needed.

As important linear public spaces, urban greenways are highly important for improving public health. Many studies have proven the benefits of urban greenways for human well-being, but fewer studies have focused on the impact of their specific environmental types and characteristics on physical and mental health. In this study, 100 subjects participated in a comparative experiment on three types of urban greenways (urban roads, urban parks, and urban rivers), and corresponding physiological indicator (systolic blood pressure [SBP], diastolic blood pressure [DBP], and pulse) and psychological indicator (perceived restorativeness scale [PRS] and positive and negative affect schedule [PANAS]) data were collected. The results indicated that (1) different greenway environment types lead to different physiological and psychological states; (2) urban park-type greenways (SBP [t = 2.37, p = 0.020], DBP [t = 2.06, p = 0.042], PANAS = 2.80, PRS = 5.39) have the greatest physical and mental recovery benefits, followed by urban river-type greenways (SBP [t = 2.84, p = 0.006], DBP [t = 1.29, p = 0.200], PANAS = 2.30, PRS= 5.02) and urban road-type greenways (SBP [t = 0.78, p = 0.440], DBP [t = 0.37, p = 0.716], PANAS = 2.00, PRS = 4.15); (3) plant color and layer diversity have a significant positive impact on the mental health benefits of the three greenway types; (4) the aesthetics of waterscapes and ornaments can significantly improve the perceived restoration ability of urban river-type greenways; and (5) the comfort of pathways and facilities can effectively promote the psychological recovery potential of urban road-type greenways. These findings systematically demonstrate for the first time the differences in restoration potential among urban greenways of different environmental types and summarize the key landscape characteristic predictors influencing the restoration potential of various types of urban greenways. Our research provides new ideas for proactive greenway interventions for physical and mental health and for enriching the restorative environmental science system.

BackgroundCardiovascular diabetology is an emergent field focusing on all aspects of diabetes/cardiovascular interrelationship and metabolic syndrome. High-quality evidence needs to be provided to determine the efficacy and safety of interventions in cardiovascular diabetology. The heterogeneity of outcomes among trials limits the comparison of results, and some outcomes are not always meaningful to end-users. The cardiovascular diabetology core outcome set (COS) study aims to develop a COS of interventions for cardiovascular diabetology. In this paper, we introduce the methodological framework for developing the COS.MethodsThe COS development will include the following steps: (a) establish the COS groups of stakeholders, including international steering committee, Delphi survey group, and consensus meeting group; (b) systematic reviews of outcomes used in trials of cardiovascular diabetology; (c) semistructured interview of stakeholders for outcomes of cardiovascular diabetology; (d) generate a list of candidate outcomes and determine the original outcome pool; (e) Delphi survey with stakeholders of cardiovascular diabetology to select potential core outcomes; and (f) review and endorse the cardiovascular diabetology COS by expert consensus meeting.ConclusionsThis current study reports the methodological framework to develop a COS in cardiovascular diabetology and will provide evidence for the future development of COS in cardiovascular diabetology.

BackgroundThe application of artificial intelligence (AI) in the delivery of health care is a promising area, and guidelines, consensus statements, and standards on AI regarding various topics have been developed. ObjectiveWe performed this study to assess the quality of guidelines, consensus statements, and standards in the field of AI for medicine and to provide a foundation for recommendations about the future development of AI guidelines. MethodsWe searched 7 electronic databases from database establishment to April 6, 2022, and screened articles involving AI guidelines, consensus statements, and standards for eligibility. The AGREE II (Appraisal of Guidelines for Research & Evaluation II) and RIGHT (Reporting Items for Practice Guidelines in Healthcare) tools were used to assess the methodological and reporting quality of the included articles. ResultsThis systematic review included 19 guideline articles, 14 consensus statement articles, and 3 standard articles published between 2019 and 2022. Their content involved disease screening, diagnosis, and treatment; AI intervention trial reporting; AI imaging development and collaboration; AI data application; and AI ethics governance and applications. Our quality assessment revealed that the average overall AGREE II score was 4.0 (range 2.2-5.5; 7-point Likert scale) and the mean overall reporting rate of the RIGHT tool was 49.4% (range 25.7%-77.1%). ConclusionsThe results indicated important differences in the quality of different AI guidelines, consensus statements, and standards. We made recommendations for improving their methodological and reporting quality. Objective: Clinical trials play an important role in the development of healthcare. However, the current status of clinical trials on anti-PD-1/PD-L1 for nasopharyngeal carcinoma remains unclear. Therefore, this study aims to provide a comprehensive analysis of the registered trials related to anti-PD-1/PD-L1 for nasopharyngeal carcinoma on ClinicalTrials.gov.Methods: A search was conducted on the ClinicalTrials.gov database to identify all registered trials related to anti-PD-1/PD-L1 for nasopharyngeal carcinoma up to 26 February 2023. The characteristics of the trials were examined, and the studied drugs, disease conditions, as well as details of trials with available results were analyzed. Publication status was assessed by a PubMed search using the ClinicalTrials.gov NCT number.Results: A total of 112 interventional clinical trials registered between 2015 and 2023 were included. Of the trials, 90 were carried out in Asia, 72 were in phase 2, and 31 trials had either companies or universities as sponsors/collaborators. The sample sizes across the trials varied greatly, with a median of 71.5 participants per trial. The majority of trials were recruiting participants, with only 6 had posted results. PD-1 inhibitors were preferred over PD-L1, and Toripalimab emerged as the most extensively studied drug. About one-third (33.9%) of the studies looked into recurrent/metastatic nasopharyngeal cancer.Conclusion: This study provides an overview of all registered trials of anti-PD-1/PD-L1 for NPC. It is needed to improve the completeness, outcome selection, randomization and masking of trials and to be transparent and timely in reporting of results.

IntroductionAs global urbanization intensifies, the physical and mental stressors of modern life have led to the growing prevalence of suboptimal health conditions. Spending time in a forest benefits human health and well-being. In this context, based on the forest spatial types (forest interior and forest edge spaces), landscape elements (architecture, water and roads) and forest stands (coniferous, broadleaf and bamboo forests), this study investigated the effects of different forest spatial landscape characteristics on the restorative potential for college students, aesthetic preference and eye movement behavior (total fixation duration and fixation count).MethodsIn this study, a total of 60 subjects were exposed to 42 photographs depicting typical forest landscapes acquired through field studies. The Short-version Revised Restoration and Preference Scale and eye-tracking technology, were employed to study the recovery efficiency and visual attraction of forest spatial of different forest spatial types, element compositions and forest stands.Results(1) The restorative potential and aesthetic preference score of forest edge spaces were significantly higher than those of forest interior spaces. (2) The restorative potential of bamboo forests was significantly higher than those of coniferous and broadleaf forests. (3) In terms of forest interior space, the restorative potential of “forest + 1 element” composition and “forest + 2 elements” composition was significantly higher than that of pure forest, and the restorative potential of interior space of bamboo forest was significantly higher than those of coniferous and broadleaf forests. (4) In terms of forest edge space, the restorative potential of “forest + 2 elements” composition was significantly higher than that of pure forest, and the restorative potential of pure forests was significantly higher than that of the “forest + 1 element” composition. (5) The restorative potential of forest spatial landscape characteristics positively correlated with aesthetic preference and negatively correlated with total fixation duration and fixation count. These results can provide a reference for future forest landscape research, construction and management.

In female mammals, the proliferation and apoptosis of granulosa cells (GCs) have been shown to determine the fate of follicles. DNA methyltransferases (DNMTs) and SLCO3A1 have been reported to be involved in the survival of GCs and follicular growth. However, the molecular mechanisms enabling DNMTs to regulate the expression of SLCO3A1 to participate in follicular growth are unclear. In this study, we found that the knockdown of DNMT1 enhanced the mRNA and protein levels of SLCO3A1 by regulating the chromatin accessibility probably. Moreover, SLCO3A1 upregulated the mRNA and protein levels of MCL1, PCNA, and STAR to promote the proliferation of GCs and facilitated cell cycle progression by increasing the mRNA and protein levels of CCNE1, CDK2, and CCND1, but it decreased apoptosis by downregulating the mRNA and protein levels of CASP3 and CASP8. Moreover, SLCO3A1 promoted the growth of porcine follicles and development of mice follicles. In conclusion, the knockdown of DNMT1 upregulated the mRNA and protein levels of SLCO3A1, thereby promoting the proliferation of GCs to facilitate the growth and development of ovarian follicles, and these results provide new insights into investigations of female reproductive diseases.

This article empirically tested the impact of investors' site visits on capital market pricing efficiency. Leveraging the data from 2009 to 2022 of Shenzhen Stock Exchange's listed companies, we found that: (1) Investors' site visits could reduce stock price synchronicity, indicating improved pricing efficiency of the capital market. (2) The mechanisms tests showed that: investors could obtain private incremental information through site visits. (3) The conclusions remained intact after robust tests, including alternative key variables, samples and specifications, and various endogenous treatments. (4) Investors added arbitrage trading behavior after the site visit without significantly impounding industry-level information into the stock price. This paper enriched the knowledge of how site visits of different investment entities affect capital market pricing efficiency.

Numerous studies have demonstrated that urban green spaces (UGSs) benefit human health, but few have focused on the influence of weather on environmental restorativeness. This study assessed how different weather conditions and environments affect human health. We exposed 50 participants to different UGS environments under cloudy and sunny conditions and collected physiological, psychological and aesthetic preference data. The steroid hormones in the aquatic environment have attracted widespread attentions due to their harmful effects to organisms. In order to improve the sensitivity and accuracy of steroid hormone detection, amphiphilic magnetic nanoparticles (AMNPs) were prepared through suspension copolymerization for microSPE of steroid hormones in water. The divinylbenzene and N-vinylpyrrolidone were selected as modified monomers, and Fe3O4 as the magnetic core. The FT-IR and SEM analyses showed that amphiphilic modified polymers were successfully coated on the surface of Fe3O4 magnetic beads. The hysteresis loop showed that the saturation magnetization value of obtained AMNPs was 36 emu·g−1. In the adsorption test, the adsorption rate of nine steroid hormones by AMNPs can reach more than 90%. Based on this, an AMNPs-microSPE coupled with HPLC-MS/MS method was established to detect steroid hormones in the aquatic environment. The detection limit and quantitation limit of this analytical method was 0.01–0.72 μg·L−1 and 0.10–2.4 μg·L−1 respectively, with good linear fit and low relative standard deviation. The prepared AMNPs extraction materials show good recovery and reproducibility for steroid hormones in water, and have the advantages of low price, easy availability and reusable.

In this paper, a novel hybrid excited axial field flux-switching permanent magnet (HEAFFSPM) machine is presented, of which the high torque capability and flexible flux regulation make it suitable for EV application. The field regulation principle of the machine is investigated, and the analogical saturation effect at pro-magnetized condition is revealed. Then the influence of the machine design parameters on the field regulation capacity and output torque of a 3-phase 6/10 stator/rotor-pole HEAFFSPM machine are analyzed by 3-D finite element analysis (FEA) method under univariate optimization condition. With the slight decrease of the electromagnetic torque, both the analogical saturation effect under pro-magnetized condition and the high flux regulation capacity are effectively improved with multivariable optimization via design of experiments (DOE) method. Finally, a prototype has been manufactured and the analysis result is validated with the experiment result.

Deuteration of unactivated C(sp3)̵̵̵̵̵̵̵̵–H bonds is a simple route to deuterated compounds, of use in pharmaceutical chemistry, material science, and synthetic chemistry. Here, the authors describe a hydrogen/deuterium (H/D) exchange of remote unactivated C(sp3)̵̵̵̵̵̵̵̵–H bonds via photocatalysis, proceeding through hydrogen atom transfer.

The enhancement mechanism of the fillet on brazing joints is of great significance for vacuum brazing technology. Although a lot of research on the enhancement mechanism of the fillet has been carried out, some key components of a comprehensive systematic enhancement mechanism for brazing fillets have yet to be established. In this paper, the enhancement mechanism for brazing fillets of SS304/pure copper brazing joints was studied by both experimental and numerical simulations. The SEM and tensile experiments were used to characterize the microstructure and shear strength of the brazing joints. The results show that the brazing joints, using 60 µm thick pure copper filler metal, exhibit a good microstructure in the brazing seam; however, its mechanical properties are lower than those found in specimens with a thickness of 90 µm. The fracture behaviors of brazing joints were also investigated, the fracture of the brazing seam was a fracture of mode II due to shear stress, while the fracture of the brazing fillet was caused by a combination of tensile stress and shear stress (mode I and mode II).

Background: In traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) field, the benefits of observational studies was more significant. Whether the evidence from observational studies agreed with RCTs in the field of TCM was still unclear. Methods: A meta-epidemiological study was conducted. Meta-analyses and systematic reviews including cohort studies and case-control studies of TCM were included. Ratio of odds ratio (ROR) of randomized controlled trials and observational studies were calculated individually and intercomparisons were conducted by pool analysis. Results: A total of 11 studies and 30 outcome pairs were included in the pool analysis. Using results from the observational studies as the reference group, the polled ROR comparing randomized controlled trials with observational studies was 1.23 (95% confidence interval 1.05 to 1.44, and 95% prediction interval 0.90 to 1.68). The ROR by subgroup analysis were 1.15 (95% confidence interval 0.96 to 1.38; 95% prediction interval 0.95 to 1.39) and 1.12 (95% confidence interval 0.86 to 1.46; 95% prediction interval 0.51 to 2.47) for cohort studies and case-control studies, respectively. Conclusions: There is difference in pooled results between randomized controlled studies and observational studies on TCM. However, the prediction interval shows the difference is small, which suggests observational studies of TCM can be included in data analysis to provide evidence for TCM. Future studies are needed to verify the above conclusion.

With the miniaturization and high-frequency requirements of quartz crystal sensors, microscopic issues affecting operating performance, e.g., the surface roughness, are receiving more and more attention. In this study, the activity dip caused by surface roughness is revealed, with the physical mechanism clearly demonstrated. Firstly, the surface roughness is considered as a Gaussian distribution, and the mode coupling properties of an AT-cut quartz crystal plate are systematically investigated under different temperature environments with the aid of two-dimensional thermal field equations. The resonant frequency, frequency–temperature curves, and mode shapes of the quartz crystal plate are obtained through the partial differential equation (PDE) module of COMSOL Multiphysics software for free vibration analysis. For forced vibration analysis, the admittance response and phase response curves of quartz crystal plate are calculated via the piezoelectric module. The results from both free and forced vibration analyses demonstrate that surface roughness reduces the resonant frequency of quartz crystal plate. Additionally, mode coupling is more likely to occur in a crystal plate with a surface roughness, leading to activity dip when temperature varies, which decreases the stability of quartz crystal sensors and should be avoided in device fabrication.

Abstract Background In mammals, the ovary is the essential system of female reproduction for the onset of puberty, and the abnormal puberty has negative outcomes on health. CircRNA is a non-coding RNA produced by non-canonical alternative splicing (AS). Several studies have reported that circRNA is involved in the gene regulation and plays an important role in some human diseases. However, the contribution of circRNA has received little known within the onset of puberty in ovary. Results Here, the profiles of ovarian circRNAs across pre-, in- and post-pubertal stages were established by RNA-sEq. In total, 972 circRNAs were identified, including 631 stage-specific circRNAs and 8 tissue-specific circRNAs. The biological functions of parental genes of circRNAs were enriched in steroid biosynthesis, autophagy-animal, MAPK signaling pathway, progesterone-mediated oocyte maturation and ras signaling pathway. Moreover, 5 circRNAs derived from 4 puberty-related genes (ESR1, JAK2, NF1 and ARNT) were found in this study. The A3SS events were the most alternative splicing, but IR events were likely to be arose in post-pubertal ovaries. Besides, the circRNA-miRNA-gene networks were explored for 10 differentially expressed circRNAs. Furthermore, the head-to-tail exon as well as the expressions of 10 circRNAs were validated by the divergent RT-qPCR and sanger sequencing. Conclusions In summary, the profiles of ovarian circRNAs were provided during pubertal transition in gilts, and these results provided useful information for the investigation on the onset of puberty at the ovarian-circRNAs-level in mammals.

Abstract In female mammals, the proliferation, apoptosis, and estradiol-17β (E2) secretion of granulosa cells (GCs) have come to decide the fate of follicles. DNA methylation and RSPO2 gene of Wnt signaling pathway have been reported to involve in the survival of GCs and follicular development. However, the molecular mechanisms for how DNA methylation regulates the expression of RSPO2 and participates in the follicular development are not clear. In this study, we found that the mRNA and protein levels of RSPO2 significantly increased during follicular development, but the DNA methylation level of RSPO2 promoter decreased gradually. Inhibition of DNA methylation or DNMT1 knockdown could decrease the methylation level of CpG island (CGI) in RSPO2 promoter and upregulate the expression level of RSPO2 in porcine GCs. The hypomethylation of −758/−749 and −563/−553 regions in RSPO2 promoter facilitated the occupancy of transcription factor E2F1 and promoted the transcriptional activity of RSPO2. Moreover, RSPO2 promoted the proliferation of GCs with increasing the expression level of PCNA, CDK1, and CCND1 and promoted the E2 secretion of GCs with increasing the expression level of CYP19A1 and HSD17B1 and inhibited the apoptosis of GCs with decreasing the expression level of Caspase3, cleaved Caspase3, cleaved Caspase8, cleaved Caspase9, cleaved PARP, and BAX. In addition, RSPO2 knockdown promoted the apoptosis of GCs, blocked the development of follicles, and delayed the onset of puberty with decreasing the expression level of Wnt signaling pathway-related genes (LGR4 and CTNNB1) in vivo. Taken together, the hypomethylation of −758/−749 and −563/−553 regions in RSPO2 promoter facilitated the occupancy of E2F1 and enhanced the transcription of RSPO2, which further promoted the proliferation and E2 secretion of GCs, inhibited the apoptosis of GCs, and ultimately ameliorated the development of follicles through Wnt signaling pathway. This study will provide useful information for further exploration on DNA-methylation-mediated RSPO2 pathway during follicular development.

China's rapid economic development has caused some environmental damage in recent years. The popularity of the Internet has enriched the ways for investors to obtain information, which would exert an impact on corporate environmental behavior. Focusing on micro-enterprise green innovation from the perspective of informal regulation, this paper investigates the impact of investor attention on corporate green innovation. This study takes Chinese A-share listed companies from 2011 to 2018 as samples, constructs panel fixed-effects models and adopts multiple linear, Logistic and Tobit regressions. This article finds that investor attention, measured by the web search index, can significantly improve corporate green innovation. The conclusion is still valid after a series of robust tests. Besides, mechanism tests reveal that investor attention can promote corporate green innovation by improving the implementation efficiency of punitive environmental regulation, the use efficiency of environmental subsidies, and by increasing the reputation cost of enterprises. In additional tests, this paper further clarifies that investors' attention to negative public opinion can play a better role in environmental governance, and reveals the reason why investors are motivated to improve corporate green innovation. This research puts forward a unique perspective, which extends the understanding of informal environmental regulation and enriches research on green innovation at the micro-enterprise level, promoting the cross research of finance and environmental protection.

State-owned enterprises (SOEs) are the leading force in the national economy. The main goal of mixed-ownership reform is to enhance the SOEs’ independent innovation capability, thereby bringing high-quality development of the national economy. Based on the baseline regression and mediation effect model, this study explores the impact of mixed-ownership reform on exploratory innovation of SOEs from ownership structure adjustment and control rights allocation. The results show that the diversity of mixed shareholders, the depth of mixed equity, and the control of mixed equity significantly increase the SOEs’ exploratory innovation investment. And the shareholding ratio of heterogeneous shareholders has a differentiated influence on exploratory innovation. The mediation effect test indicates that the promotion effect of mixed-ownership reform of SOEs in the ownership structure dimension is achieved by reducing the second-type agency conflict and easing the financing constraints. In contrast, the promotion effect in the control rights allocation dimension is achieved by lowering the first-type agency conflict. The findings demonstrate that the mixed-ownership reform have positive effect on the SOEs’ exploratory innovation investment, and the different dimensions of mixed-ownership reform have disparate function routes to exploratory innovation. This study provides guidance for SOEs on how drive national innovation development through mixed-ownership reform. SOEs should guarantee the rights of non-state-owned capital to hold shares and appoint directors, improve internal governance mechanisms, so as to accelerate the development of exploratory innovation activities.

In this paper, the dual-stator axial-field flux-switching permanent magnet (DSAFFSPM) motors with E- and U-core stator modular segments, as well as different stator/rotor-pole combinations are compared. The operation performance of the DSAFFSPM machines are explored by using the MMF-permeance model method. A more comprehensive theoretical analysis, no more limited to numerical calculation, is presented. This reveals directly the relations between the operation performance and design parameters of the machine. The performance comparisons between the E-shaped and U-shaped teeth DSAFFSPM machines are given, including the effects of the structural parameters on the electromagnetic torque, different stator/rotor-pole combinations on the winding factor and gear ratio, the differences of the average torque and the torque density and the efficiency in the 12/10 U-core and 6/10 E-core topology. These are the basis of the DSAFFSPM machine design and optimization. Finally, the experiments on the two prototype, 6/10 E-core and 12/10 U-core DSAFFSPM machines are carried out. The results show that the average torque of the 12/10 U-core prototype is higher than that of the 6/10 E-core prototype, while the torque density and the efficiency of 6/10 E-core DSAFFSPM machines are much higher.

This is a protocol for developing a guideline to establish the evidence ecosystem of acupuncture. It describes all steps that will be followed in line with the World Health Organization Handbook for Guideline Development and the Reporting Items for practice Guidelines in Healthcare (RIGHT). The key steps included guideline protocol development, guideline registration, systematic review of acupuncture evidence issues, systematic review of methods for establishing evidence ecosystem, survey of acupuncture stakeholders regarding potential acupuncture evidence issues, development of potential items for guidelines, Delphi method for guideline item development, consensus meeting, drafting guideline, peer review, approval, and publishing. This future guideline will help to establish evidence ecosystem of acupuncture, which will facilitate the application of acupuncture in clinical practice.

This paper presents a new topology of an axial flux-switching memory machine with series-type permanent magnets (SPMs) to improve the flux regulation capability. The key idea was to combine low coercive force (LCF) PMs, which can be magnetized and demagnetized readily, with high coercive force (HCF) PMs in series to provide a variable air-gap magnetic flux. The flux regulating principle and the forward magnetization effect of HCF PMs on LCF PMs are presented and discussed. Based on 3D finite element analysis (FEA), the magnetization variation of LCF PMs and the electromagnetic performances of the machine under different magnetization states were investigated. Simulation results showed that the air-gap magnetic flux could be weakened by up to 45% by using a magnetization current impulse, significantly extending the PM motor’s flux-weakening speed range. Finally, a prototype machine was built, and experiments were performed to validate the predictions. The basic experimental validation shows that the measured back-EMF and the flux regulating characteristic matched the 3D FEA results well.

Background: The modified Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension (DASH) diet was a potentially effective treatment for pre-hypertensive and hypertensive patients. The evidence for the effect of the modified DASH diet on blood pressure reduction was inconsistent. The study was designed to assess the effects of the modified DASH diet on blood pressure (BP) in hypertensive and pre-hypertensive adults.Methods: We searched Medline, Embase, CENTRAL, CNKI, VIP, Wanfang Data, SINOMED, Google Scholar, the World Health Organization's International Clinical Trials Registry Platform, and Clinicaltrials.gov from inception to July 1st, 2021. Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) assessing the effects of the modified DASH diet on systolic and diastolic BP, cardiovascular risk factors (body weight, body mass index, waist circumference, fasting glucose, blood lipids), cardiovascular events, and all-cause mortality were included. Statistical analysis was performed using Stata software. Risk of bias was assessed with the Cochrane tool and quality of evidence with GRADE.Results: A total of 10 RCTs were included. Compared with control diet, the modified DASH diet could reduce mean systolic (−3.26 mmHg; 95% confidence interval −5.58, −0.94 mmHg; P = 0.006) and diastolic (−2.07 mmHg; 95% confidence interval −3.68, −0.46 mmHg; P = 0.01) BP. Compared with the controlling diet, the modified DASH diet could reduce systolic BP to a greater extent in trials with a mean baseline BP ≥ 140/90 mmHg compared with 8 weeks compared with ≤8 weeks. The modified DASH diet could affect mean waist circumference (difference: 1.57 cm; 95% confidence interval −2.98, −0.15) and triglyceride concentration (difference: 1.04 mol/L; 95% confidence interval −1.47, −0.60).Conclusions: The modified DASH diet can reduce BP, waist circumference, and triglyceride concentration in hypertension patients. A higher baseline BP is associated with more marked systolic and diastolic BP reduction.Systematic Review Registration: PROSPERO registration number: CRD42020190860.

Soundscape perception (SP) plays an important role in promoting tourist-place interaction and enhancing tourists’ environmentally responsible behavior (ERB). In this study, we defined SP as a second-order factor and investigated its relationships with place attachment (PA) and tourists’ ERB using structural equation modeling (SEM). Our aim was to identify how a soundscape could be improved to enhance the ERB of forest park tourists. Our results confirm the multidimensionality of SP, i.e., the three subdimensions of physical soundscape perception (PSP), psychological soundscape perception (SSP), and regional soundscape perception (RSP). Furthermore, our SEM results show that PA mediates the effect of the three subdimensions of SP on high-effort ERB (HERB). Our empirical results also reveal that the enhancement of tourists’ SSP will foster their ERB. This study therefore extends the multisensory landscape literature by offering insights into the relationship between SP, PA, and tourists’ ERB. Our findings provide empirical evidence for understanding the influence of SP on tourists’ ERB in forest parks and demonstrate that PA should be considered an important context for soundscape design.

This paper characterizes laser-generated guided waves in a metal-lined composite-overwrapped pressure vessel (COPV) to assess typical damage, including interfacial debonding and low-velocity impact damage. First, an eigenfrequency approach that avoids additional coding is utilized to theoretically analyze the dispersion characteristics of a COPV. The theoretical results show that interfacial debonding significantly alters dispersion curves, and the wavenumber of the L(0, 1) mode is sensitive to impact damage. Experimental verifications were conducted based on the full wavefield acquired using a scanning laser-ultrasonic system with a repetition rate of 1 kHz. By comparing the experimental dispersion curves with the theoretical ones, it was found that the metal-composite interface was not bonded. In addition, a local wavenumber estimation method was established to detect the impact damage by obtaining the spatial distribution of the wavenumber of the L(0, 1) mode.

The timing of puberty in mammals marks the point at which reproduction becomes possible. Abnormalities in the timing of puberty may exert a series of negative effects on subsequent health outcomes. Alternative splicing (AS) has not only emerged as a significant factor in the transcription of genes but it is also reported to play a role in the timing of puberty. However, to date, the changes and dynamics of AS during the onset of puberty is extremely seldom explored. In the present study, we used gilts as a research model to investigated the dynamics of AS and differentially expressed AS (DEAS) events within the hypothalamus–pituitary–ovary (HPO) axis across pre-, in-, and post-puberty. We detected 3,390, 6,098, and 9,085 DEAS events in the hypothalamus, pituitary, and ovary when compared across pre-, in-, and post-pubertal stages, respectively. Within the entire HPO axis, we also identified 22,889, 22,857, and 21,055 DEAS events in the pre-, in-, and post-pubertal stages, respectively. Further analysis revealed that the differentially spliced genes (DSGs) associated with staged DEAS events were likely to be enriched in the oxytocin signaling pathway, thyroid hormone signaling pathway, GnRH signaling pathway, and oocyte meiosis signaling pathway. The DSGs associated with DEAS events across the entire HPO axis were enriched in endocytosis signaling pathway, the MAPK signaling pathway, and the Rap1 signaling pathway. Moreover. the ASs of TAC1, TACR3, CYP19A1, ESR1, ESRRA, and FSHR were likely to regulate the functions of the certain HPO tissues during the onset of puberty. Collectively, the AS dynamics and DEAS events were comprehensively profiled in hypothalamus, pituitary, and ovary across the pre-, in-, and post-pubertal stages in pigs. These findings may enhance our knowledge of how puberty is regulated by AS and shed new light on the molecular mechanisms underlying the timing of puberty in mammals.

Handwriting expertise, as a form of forensic evidence, was once considered by most courts under the Anglo-American law system to be infallible, but this position was significantly challenged by the Daubert case (1993) and further by the President's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology report published in 2016. In China, handwriting expertise has often been accepted as forensic evidence. However, this does not mean that there is no need to review the reliability of handwriting expertise. In this study, we analyze the current situation in China regarding the reliability of handwriting identification using cases from China's judicial judgment database. We intend to identify the reasons for rejection of handwriting expertise, analyze the outcomes of applications for re-examination, and examine the court's evaluation of different forensic opinions in relation to a given case. We also propose ways to strengthen the reliability of handwriting identification in China.

Objective: Clinical trials contribute to the development of clinical practice. However, little is known about the current status of trials on artificial intelligence (AI) conducted in emergency department and intensive care unit. The objective of the study was to provide a comprehensive analysis of registered trials in such field based on ClinicalTrials.gov.Methods: Registered trials on AI conducted in emergency department and intensive care unit were searched on ClinicalTrials.gov up to 12th January 2021. The characteristics were analyzed using SPSS21.0 software.Results: A total of 146 registered trials were identified, including 61 in emergency department and 85 in intensive care unit. They were registered from 2004 to 2021. Regarding locations, 58 were conducted in Europe, 58 in America, 9 in Asia, 4 in Australia, and 17 did not report locations. The enrollment of participants was from 0 to 18,000,000, with a median of 233. Universities were the primary sponsors, which accounted for 43.15%, followed by hospitals (35.62%), and industries/companies (9.59%). Regarding study designs, 85 trials were interventional trials, while 61 were observational trials. Of the 85 interventional trials, 15.29% were for diagnosis and 38.82% for treatment; of the 84 observational trials, 42 were prospective, 14 were retrospective, 2 were cross-sectional, 2 did not report clear information and 1 was unknown. Regarding the trials' results, 69 trials had been completed, while only 10 had available results on ClinicalTrials.gov.Conclusions: Our study suggest that more AI trials are needed in emergency department and intensive care unit and sponsors are encouraged to report the results.

Guided by the conviction that "Clear waters and green mountains are as good as mountains of gold and silver", China highly values sustainable economic and social development through innovation and Internet technology. Regression analysis is performed to examine the impact of corporate information disclosure environment proxied by the Internet penetration rate on innovation. Leveraging from the city-level Internet penetration rates data in China from 2003 to 2017, this study gets the following findings: (1) Firms headquartered in cities with high Internet penetration rates tend to be more innovative, i.e. they invest more in research and development. (2) This result is supported by several robustness checks, such as alternative measures of key variables, alternative empirical specifications, and tests to mitigate identification concerns. (3) "financing constraint" and "tolerance of innovation failure" are two channels that influence firms' innovative endeavors. (4) Additional tests show that Internet penetration rates facilitate a firm's output efficiency of innovation input, total factor productivity, and human capital environment for innovation. The above conclusions not only enrich the relevant literature on the influencing factors of corporate innovation from the perspective of the firm information disclosure environment but also provide an important reference for further understanding the positive role of macro technology development on social and economic development.

This paper constructs the measurement index of core competence by text analysis method and empirically tests the impact of core competence on stock price synchronicity. We find that the stronger the core competence, the lower the stock price synchronicity, and mechanism test shows that core competence reduces the stock price synchronicity by enhancing the transparency of corporate information, which is still valid under a series of robustness tests. Further research shows that:(1) when the corporate governance environment is poor (higher level of internal earnings management, lower quality of accounting information, greater separation of ownership and control, lower shareholding ratio of external institutional investors, weaker product market competition, less media attention), the core competence has a more significant effect on the decline of stock price synchronization; (2)vertically, the dynamic improvement of core competence in the time dimension can play a role in stabilizing stock price synchronization; (3)after distinguishing the types of core competence, we find that the core competence related to information disclosure is more helpful to reduce the stock price synchronization; (4)after the CSRC forces listed companies to disclose the core competence information in the annual report, the core competence plays a stronger role in reducing the stock price synchronization. This study reveals the important role of core competence in reducing stock price synchronization. It not only enriches the relevant literature of core competence and stock price synchronization, but also has important practical significance for the government and regulatory departments to improve the efficiency of capital market allocation.

Concrete is one of the most widely used construction materials for basic infrastructure worldwide, especially in developing areas undergoing rapid urbanization. However, concrete inhibits energy exchange between soil and other ecosystem components. To enhance the fluxion of information between ecosystems, surface vegetation, and basement soil, this paper aims to explore the tolerance of plants growing on PC. Therefore, we investigated two different PC sample groups with aggregate particle diameters of 5–10 and 15–20 mm. After curing, the samples were used to plant three ground cover plants (Cynodon dactylon(L.) Pers, Agrostis stolonifera, and Sasa argenteostriatus, e.g., Camus), and the results were compared with those from normal soil without PC underneath as a reference. During an observational period of 12 weeks, the growth and height of the plants were documented and analysed. The physiological indexes of free proline (Pro), malondialdehyde (MDA), chlorophyll (Chl), relative electrical conductivity (REC), and soluble protein (SP) were investigated. The correlations and significant differences between these indexes based on the treatments were analysed. Then, principal component analysis (PCA) was used to determine the main variables affecting plant growth. The results showed that there were significant differences between the PC groups and the natural growth group. The growth and height of the three plant species under near-natural (nonconcrete) conditions were better than those of the plants in the PC treatments. The plants in the large-particle concrete (LC) treatment group showed better adaptability than those in the small-particle concrete (SC) treatment group in terms of growth, although both PC treatments resulted in various degrees of damage. PCA showed that SP, REC, and MDA were the most influential factors on plant growth in this study.

Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is an irreversible progressive neurodegenerative disease. Intervention in the early stage of AD is a new path for AD treatment that is being explored. The behavioral and pathological effects of anodal transcranial direct current stimulation (AtDCS) at the early stage of AD in the mouse model, amyloid precursor protein (APP)/presenilin-1 (PS1) transgenic mice, were investigated based on our previous studies. Thirty-three 6-month-old male APP/PS1 mice were randomly divided into the model group (AD group), model + sham stimulation group (ADST group) and stimulation group (ADT group). Eleven 6-month-old male C57 wild-type mice were randomly selected as a control group (CTL group). The ADT group received 10 AtDCS sessions. The Morris water maze (MWM) task and novel object recognition (NOR) task were used to test mouse memory. Nissl staining, Western blot (WB), immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence staining of β-amyloid (Aβ42), glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) and NF200 were conducted for pathological analysis. The ADT group and the CTL group had a shorter escape latency and more platform-region crossings than the AD group and ADST group in the MWM. There was no significant difference in the discrimination index among the groups in the NOR task. Pathological analysis showed visible differences between the AD group and ADT group. This study revealed that early-stage APP/PS1 transgenic mice did not show recognition memory impairment. AtDCS effectively improved spatial learning and memory in the early-stage APP/PS1 transgenic mouse model of AD, alleviating Aβ burden and having a protective effect on neurons. AtDCS could improve AD-related symptoms by activating many glial cells to promote the degradation and clearance of Aβ or directly affecting production and degradation of Aβ to reduce glial activation. AtDCS is an effective means of early intervention in the early stage of AD.

Lubricants are of key importance for mechanical processing, and exist in nearly every mechanical system. When the equipment is in operation, debris particles will be generated in mechanical lubricants. The detection of debris particles can indicate the wear degree of machinery components, and provide prognosis warning for the system before the fault occurs. In this work, a novel type of inductive debris sensor consisting of two excitation coils and two sensing coils is proposed for online debris monitoring. The developed sensor was proven to be of high sensitivity through experimental verification. The testing results show that, using the designed sensor, ferrous metal debris with a size of 115 μm and nonferrous metal debris with a size of 313 μm in a pipe with an inner diameter of 12.7 mm can be effectively detected. Moreover, the proposed inductive debris sensor structure has better sensitivity at higher throughput and its design provides a useful insight into the development of high-quality sensors with superior performances.

Emotion plays an important role in physical and mental health. Green space is an environment conducive to physical and mental recovery and influences human emotions through visual and auditory stimulation. Both the visual environment and sound environment of a green space are important factors affecting its quality. Most of the previous relevant studies have focused solely on the visual or sound environment of green spaces and its impacts. This study focused on the combination of vegetation density (VD) and integrated sound environment (ISE) based on neural emotional evaluation criteria. VD was used as the visual variable, with three levels: high (H), moderate (M) and low (L). ISE was used as the sound variable, with four levels: low-decibel natural and low-decibel artificial sounds (LL), low-decibel natural and high-decibel artificial sounds (LH), high-decibel natural and low-decibel artificial sounds (HL) and high-decibel natural and high-decibel artificial sounds (HH). These two variables were combined into 12 unique groups. A total of 360 volunteer college students were recruited and randomly assigned to the 12 groups (N = 30). All 12 groups underwent the same 5 min high-pressure learning task (pretest baseline), followed by a 5 min audio-visual recovery (posttest). Six indicators of neural emotion (engagement, excitement, focus, interest, relaxation and stress) were dynamically measured by an Emotiv EPOC X device during the pretest and posttest. Analysis of covariance was used to determine the main and coupled effects of the variables. (1) VD and ISE have significant effects on human neural emotions. In moderate- and high-VD spaces, artificial sound levels may have a positive effect on excitement. (2) A higher VD is more likely to result in excitatory neural emotion expression. (3) Low-VD and high-VD spaces have a higher degree of visual continuity. Both extremely low and extremely high VDs result in a higher expression of stressful emotions than observed for a moderate VD. (4) High-decibel artificial sounds are more likely to attract attention, possibly because artificial sounds are easier to recognize than natural sounds. However, when both the natural and artificial sounds are low, it is difficult to induce higher tones, and the lower the artificial sound decibel level, the easier it is to relax. Additionally, under the influence of an ISE, attention recovery and stress recovery may be negatively correlated. The results show that an appropriate combination of VD and ISE can improve the health benefits of a green space and thus the well-being of visitors.
