Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the safety and efficacy of mechanical thrombectomy with a direct aspiration first-pass technique (ADAPT) using large-bore catheters in patients with acute ischemic stroke due to large vessel occlusion (LVO) in a hospital in Vietnam. Methods: This was a retrospective review of patients with acute ischemic stroke due to LVO who were diagnosed and underwent mechanical thrombectomy using ADAPT with large-bore catheters at Bach Mai Hospital from January 2017 to June 2018. Results: Seventy-three patients (47.9% female; age: 61.29 ± 14.49 years) met study criteria. The average procedure duration was 45.09 ± 38.26 min. Successful recanalization post-ADAPT (thrombolysis in cerebral infarction 2b-3) was achieved in 72.6% (53/73) of patients. Good functional outcome (Modified Rankin Scale 0–2) at 3 months was achieved in 50.7% (37/73), with poor functional outcome in 24.7% (18/73). The 90-day mortality rate was 24.7% (18/73). The hemorrhagic transformation rate was 31.6%, in which 19.2% were symptomatic. Vessel perforation occurred in 5.5% (4/73) of patients but in all cases was associated with the guidewire and not the reperfusion catheter. Vessel dissection occurred in 1.4% (1/73) and vasospasm in 5.5% (4/73) of patients. Conclusion: Mechanical thrombectomy using ADAPT with large-bore catheters for acute ischemic stroke due to LVO is a method that yielded good results in recanalization and clinical recovery in a Vietnamese patient population.

In this study, the WRF (Weather Research and Forecasting) model was used to simulate and investigate diurnal and annual variations of wind speed and wind power density over Southern Vietnam at 2‐km horizontal resolution for two years (2016 and 2017). The model initial and boundary conditions are from the National Centers for Environmental Prediction (NCEP) Final Analyses (FNL). Observation data for two years at 20 m height at Bac Lieu station were used for model bias correction and investigating diurnal and annual variation of wind speeds. The results show that the WRF model overestimates wind speeds. After bias correction, the model reasonably well simulates wind speeds over the research area. Wind speed and wind power density show much higher values at levels of 50–200 m above ground levels than near ground (20 m) level and significantly higher near the coastal regions than inland. Wind speed has significant annual and diurnal cycles. Both annual and diurnal cycles of wind speeds were well simulated by the model. Wind speed is much stronger during daytime than at nighttime. Low-level wind speed reaches the maximum at about 14 LT to 15 LT when the vertical momentum mixing is highly active. Wind speeds over the eastern coastal region of Southern Vietnam are much stronger in winter than in summer due to two main reasons, including (1) stronger large-scale wind speed in winter than in summer and (2) funnel effect creating a local maximum wind speed over the nearshore ocean which then transports high-momentum air inland in winter.

Cloud computing has emerged in recent years as a promising paradigm that facilitates such new service models as Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS), Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) and Software-as-a-Service (SaaS). As the number of cloud service provider increases, there exists a demand to dynamically provision virtual data centers (VDC) on top of the infrastructure provider’s physical data centers. This research addresses problems related to energy and resource efficiently embedding virtual data centers inside physical data centers under dynamic resource allocation conditions, in which VDCs continuously join and leave the system. Dynamic VDC embedding is challenging as it is an NP-hard problem that should meet multiple objectives. In this article, we propose heuristic joint VDC embedding – server consolidation approaches as one solution for that problem. Evaluation results show that the joint approach outperforms existing ones in terms of resource and energy efficiency and can keep system complexity acceptable.

In this paper, a new guiding light model uses wavelength in visible range λ= 633nm is proposed based on surface plasmon polaritons (SPPs). The model is a rectangular parallelepiped with twisting I-shaped gap along its symmetric axis. In an effort to achieve plasmonic surfaces, gold (Au) e 1 /e 0 = −13.08− j1.08 is employed for the rectangular parallelepiped while twisting I-shaped gap contains vacuum. When an incident plane wave is illuminated to structure, by varying the length of waveguide structure, the direction of electric vector as well as magnetic vector at output is rotated perpendicular to its initial state. Moreover, light can also be localized into a very narrow region with significant intensity.
