Blunt esophageal injury is an unusual organ injury that has unclear clinical symptoms due to the overlap of thoracoabdominal trauma in the setting of multiple traumas. The treatment options vary depending on the patient's clinical symptoms, the extent of esophageal damage, and the time from the onset of damage to diagnosis. This article presents a case of a young male patient receiving emergency treatment after a traffic accident. Esophageal perforation was diagnosed through chest computed tomography with contrast injection and oral contrast. The article focuses on imaging characteristics and suggestive signs of blunt esophageal injury in the setting of multitrauma.

Abstract Microbeads in exfoliating products are a significant source of microplastics entering aquatic ecosystems. This study characterized microbeads in popular facial scrub and body scrub products from Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, to quantify abundances and estimate emissions. A selection of facial scrub and body scrub cleansers were collected from local markets and analyzed to quantify microbead properties including the size, color, mass, and abundance of microbeads in the exfoliating cleansers. Results revealed a wide range of microbead sizes (66–1012 μm) and different shapes and colors within and between products. Most contained heterogenous particles of white, green, blue, red, brown, and black spherical microbeads. The range of microbead abundance was 236–942 particles per gram of product. Annual microbead emissions from the use of these products in Ho Chi Minh City were estimated based on population and usage data. The total annual emission of microbeads from facial and body scrubs in Ho Chi Minh City amounted to 1.3 billion microbeads. On a per capita basis, this equaled 880 microbeads per person annually discharged into the local water environment. According to the study, a preliminary calculation indicated that approximately 2640 microbeads were released per year per female student in Ho Chi Minh City. By providing an initial ssessment of microbead pollution arising specifically from personal care items in Vietnam, this study raises awareness of microplastics introduction into Asian coastal zones via cosmetic products. The baseline data establishes a foundation for further investigations. This represents an important step in quantifying and addressing an emerging microplastic source in the region.

African swine fever (ASF) is a highly infectious disease in pigs caused by the African swine fever virus (ASFV), which might result in 100% mortality. Pigs infected with ASFV might display different clinical and pathological features depending on virulence and host factors. This study aimed to determine features of clinical symptoms, macroscopic, and microscopic lesions of ASF in the Mekong Delta (MD), Vietnam during 2021–2022. The investigation was conducted following three fatal outbreaks of ASF in Hau Giang, Vinh Long, and Can Tho provinces, which are three central provinces out of thirteen in the MD. The spleen, lymph nodes, liver, kidney, and heart were collected from three infected pigs that displayed clinical symptoms of ASFV infection and confirmed the presence of ASFV by conventional PCR. The results indicated that infected pigs showed common clinical symptoms including high fever, anorexia, and moderate petechiae on the skin. Severe hemorrhage was observed in lymph nodes, spleen, kidneys, intestines, and gallbladders which were the main lesions during post-mortem examination. Microscopic lesions were characterized by lymphocytopenia, atrophy of lymphoid follicles in the immune system. However, distinct variations in clinical symptoms, macroscopic, and microscopic features among ASFV infection cases were not documented. This study provides a further understanding of the clinical presentation and pathological lesions caused by the ASFV strain circulating in the MD.

Intravenous misplacement of the nephrostomy catheter following percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL) is severe and extremely rare, and little information is available about this complication. Because the patient's prognosis may be poor, sufficient attention should be paid to early identification and treatment of this complication. We report a case with intravenous misplacement of nephrostomy catheter and severe bleeding from the catheter after PCNL was transferred to our hospital. The patient was successfully managed using a two-step intervention. First, the patient underwent embolization of the pseudoaneurysms in renal parenchyma, then underwent catheter withdrawal under digital subtraction angiography (DSA) and control bleeding by pushing the absorbable hemostatic material (Surgicel) into the tunneled renal drainage. There were no severe complications. Withdrawal could be performed by open surgery or under the supervision of imaging modalities. Some reports showed that minimally invasive management was safer and less invasive than open surgery.

Acute appendicitis is an ordinary surgical emergency, typically attributed to luminal obstruction by fecaliths or lymphoid hyperplasia. However, ingested foreign bodies as an etiology are rare but increasingly recognized, particularly in pediatric patients. We present the case of a 9-year-old male patient who presented to the emergency department with symptoms consistent with acute appendicitis. Further investigation revealed the presence of a bone fragment within the appendix, leading to acute inflammation. Foreign body ingestion should be considered in pediatric patients with acute appendicitis. This case report underscores the importance of comprehensive clinical evaluation and appropriate diagnostic imaging modalities in guiding optimal treatment strategies.

Isolated colon injuries following blunt abdominal trauma have been reported at a rate of 0.1%-0.5%, with isolated sigmoid colon injuries involved in only 34.8% of single colon injuries. Surgical treatment options include recto-colonic anastomosis, resection with or without recto-colonic anastomosis, and colostomy. We report the case of a 39-year-old male patient diagnosed with isolated sigmoid colon rupture after a traffic accident, identified using contrast-enhanced abdominal computed tomography. The patient underwent emergency surgery, during which the Hartmann procedure was performed. This included excision of the sigmoid colon at both ends of the hiatus, creation of a proximal colostomy, closure of the distal end, and repair of the sigmoid disruption segment. Seven days after surgery, the patient's clinical symptoms were stable, and he was discharged.

Generalized lymphangiomatosis (GLA) is a very rare condition in adults, characterized by diffused proliferation of lymphatic vessels that requires differential diagnosis from other vascular disorders such as cavernous or capillary hemangioma. This is because of overlapping characteristics on histopathological examination. Therefore, imaging features such as CT and MRI are useful to evaluate morphological characteristics, location, and the extent of the spread as well as differential diagnosis with other pathologies. We report a case of a 22-year-old female patient with left hemothorax after thoracoscopic sympathectomy for the treatment of hand sweating. The patient underwent drainage and cleaning of the left pleura. Chest computed tomography and lumbar spine magnetic resonance imaging showed multiple fat infiltration foci of the lumbar spine and pelvis. A wing bone biopsy of the pelvis was initially performed for the diagnosis of chronic osteomyelitis. Afterwards, the patient continued to have pleural drainage and developed hemothorax and chylothorax, amounting to 3000 mL. The chest tube was blocked with a mixture of biological glue and lipiodol (2 mL of glue, ratio of glue to lipiodol: 1:4) and a 3 i-ED coil complex. After the intervention, the pleural fluid decreased; the left pleural fluid was still 15 mm thick, and the amount of fluid drained after 1 week was 100 mL. Aspiration of the chest wall lesion showed fluid rich in fat droplets. Combined with the results of lumbar spine magnetic resonance imaging and the old biopsy, this was consistent with generalized lymphangiomatosis.

Researching rapid multiplication techniques for mosaic-resistant cassava in tunnel greenhouses is crucial for ensuring food security and sustainable agriculture. Our previous findings indicated that a combination of 50% shading and 70-75% humidity significantly enhanced the formation of shoots and growth of cassava seedlings in a tunnel greenhouse. The current study examines the impact of different substrate compositions on cassava propagation. The experiments were designed as split plots with three replicates and four formulas including CTRL: 100% sand with a thickness of 40 cm; CT-1: 100% sand with a thickness of 30 cm; CT-2: 60% sand and 40% gravel with a thickness of 40 cm; CT-3: 70% sand and 30% gravel with a thickness of 40 cm; and CT-4: 50% sand and 50% gravel with a thickness of 40 cm. The results demonstrated that CT-3 yielded the highest shoot formation rate and growth of cassava seedlings, suggesting that the combination of sand (70%) and gravel (30%) at a thickness of 40 cm provide the most favorable conditions for cassava propagation in tunnel greenhouse conditions.

There are various issues that are associated with audit quality, which can often lead to audit failures. The State Audit Office of Vietnam (SAV) needs assistance in improving its audit quality. This study was conducted to provide empirical evidence about the correlation between the risks of audited entities, the competitive ability of state auditors, and audit quality. The study also seeks to establish the moderating effect of risk-based auditing on the relationship between the abovementioned factors and audit quality. The research data was collected from 221 state auditors and analyzed using SEM linear structure analysis with SmartPLS 4.0.8.5 software. The research findings suggest that the risk of the audited entity and the competitive ability of state auditors positively and significantly impact the application of RBA, which contributes to the assurance of audit quality in SAV. Therefore, the practical application of RBA, which involves accurately identifying the risks of audited entities, helps to improve audit quality and efficiency. This study contributes to the theory of audit quality in the public sector, which is diverse and inconsistent due to various economic and political factors such as corruption and reputation. Proteases derived from Streptomyces demonstrate numerous commendable properties, rendering it extensively applicable in biotechnology and various industrial sectors. This study focused on the purification and characterization of the thermostable protease obtained from Streptomyces sp. CNXK100. The purified protease exhibited an estimated molecular weight of 27 kDa, with optimal activity at 75°C and pH 8.0. Notably, the enzyme remained active even without any metal ions and fully active in the presence of Na+, K+, Mg2+, and Cu2+metal ions. The kinetic parameters were determined with a KM value of 3.13 mg/ml and a Vmax value of 3.28 × 106 U/mg. Furthermore, the protease has demonstrated notable stability when subjected to a treatment temperature of up to 65°C for 60 minutes, and across a broad pH range extending from 5.0 to 10.0. This protease also demonstrated resilience against a spectrum of harsh conditions, including exposure to organic solvents, surfactants, bleaching agents, and proteolytic enzymes. Additionally, the enzyme maintained its activity following treatment with commercial detergents, accomplishing complete thrombus lysis at a concentration of 2.50 mg/ml within 4 hours. Remarkably, the protease exhibited stability in terms of activity and protein concentration for 70 days at 4°C. These findings underscore the potential industrial applications of the thermostable protease from Streptomyces sp. CNXK100.

A simple approach was developed to synthesize cobalt ferrite nanoparticles/graphene quantum dots (CF/GQDs). The material was prepared from a homogeneous mixture of iron nitrate, cobalt nitrate, and starch at 140, 180 and 200 °C in a 24 h thermal hydrolysis process. The obtained materials were characterised by using X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, ultraviolet–visible diffuse reflectance spectroscopy, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, photoluminescence spectroscopy, vibrating-sample magnetometry, and nitrogen adsorption/desorption isotherms. Cobalt ferrite crystals of around 8–10 nm and graphene quantum dots formed directly at 200 °C. Stacking GQDs sheets onto the CF nanoparticles resulted in CF/GQDs nanoparticles. The nanocomposite exhibits satisfactory fluorescent and superparamagnetic properties, which are vital for catalytic applications. The CF/GQDs catalyse significantly the degradation of methylene blue (MB) under visible light. The catalyst can be recycled with an external magnetic field and displays suitable stability. Also, it was reused in three successive experiments with a loss of efficiency of about 5%. The CF/GQDs are considered as an efficient photocatalyst for MB degradation and other dyes.

Antioxidants play an important role in the prevention of oxidative stress and have been widely used in medicine and healthcare. However, natural antioxidants have several limitations such as low stability, difficult long-term storage, and high cost of large-scale production. Along with significant advances in nanotechnology, nanomaterials have emerged as a promising solution to improve the limitations of natural antioxidants because of their high stability, easy storage, time effectiveness, and low cost. Among various types of nanomaterials exhibiting antioxidant activity, metal-based nanoantioxidants show excellent reactivity because of the presence of an unpaired electron in their atomic structure. In this review, we summarize some novel metal-based nanoantioxidants and classify them into two main categories, namely chain-breaking and preventive antioxidant nanomaterials. In addition, the applications of antioxidant nanomaterials in medicine and healthcare are also discussed. This review provides a deeper understanding of the mechanisms of metal-based nanoantioxidants and a guideline for using these nanomaterials in medicine and healthcare.

Risk management has become crucial for organizations in the current era. Therefore, this study assesses the impact of Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) on an organization’s performance and examines how knowledge management and technology adoption mediate this impact, along with the moderating effect of supply chain resilience based on the resource-based view and dynamic capabilities theory. Utilizing a questionnaire-based survey, data were collected from 297 respondents in Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong, and Dong Nai, Vietnam, by cluster random sampling. The data were statistically analyzed using the partial least squares method. The results indicated a positive effect of ERM on financial performance, while the association with non-financial performance lacked significance. Knowledge management and technology adoption fully mediated the positive impact of ERM on non-financial performance and partially mediated its relationship with financial performance. Furthermore, supply chain resilience strengthened the positive link between ERM and financial performance. In conclusion, these findings contribute to advancing the comprehension of the mechanisms and dynamics involved in knowledge management and technology adoption as mediators and supply chain resilience as a moderator, regarding an emerging country. The study enriches the risk management literature and significantly contributes to enhancing firm effectiveness.

In this computational study, the preferential adsorption and co-adsorption sites of various chemical species (N, O, and NO) on the Pt (111) and Rh3Pt (111) surfaces were identified. The preferential adsorption site for NO and co-adsorption sites for N and O on the Pt (111) surface are the hollow (fcc) sites; and these on the Rh3Pt (111) surface are the hollow (fcc1) site and hollow N(hcp2)-O(fcc1) sites, respectively. The activation energies of the NO dissociation reaction on the Pt (111) and Rh3Pt (111) catalytic surfaces are 2.35 and 2.02 eV, respectively. The lower activation energy of the NO decomposition on the Rh3Pt (111) surface is explained by the stronger back-donation from the 4d orbital of the Rh atoms to the 2π* anti-bonding orbital of the NO molecule. The activation energies of the N and O recombination reaction on the Pt (111) and Rh3Pt (111) catalytic surfaces are 1.51 and 2.30 eV, respectively. The study indicates that the Rh3Pt (111) surface not only facilitates the NO decomposition but also better prevents N and O from recombination. Copyright © 2024 by Authors, Published by BCREC Group. Food classification has always piqued the interest of both domestic and international researchers, but numerous challenges remain. We present the dataset UIT-TASTET21, which contains over 77,000 color images of 18 traditional Vietnamese Lunar New Year dishes. We have experimented with classification using feature vectors from network architectures such as VGG16, Inception-v3, ResNet-50, Xception, and MobileNet-v2 to train support vector machines (SVMs), meeting the dataset’s challenges and laying the groundwork for the development of many optimal methods in the future that promise scientific breakthroughs in the service and commercial industries. At the same time, the authors desire to share a piece of Vietnamese cuisine’s distinctiveness with worldwide friends.

Fibroin tơ tằm là một vật liệu y sinh đã được ứng dụng phổ biến trên thế giới. Tuy nhiên, vẫn còn ít nghiên cứu đề cập đến việc bào chế hệ vi hạt từ fibroin nhằm dẫn truyền thuốc đường uống. Đây là lý do để nghiên cứu này được thực hiện. Fibroin đã được chiết thành công từ kén tơ tằm Việt Nam với hiệu suất chiết 20,08% với các đặc tính lý hóa đặc trưng của phân tử fibroin. Hệ vi hạt fibroin phối trộn poly(vinyl alcohol) và Eudragit E100 được bào chế thành công bằng phương pháp đổi dung môi với kích thước nano và bền vững trong môi trường mô phỏng đường tiêu hóa. Cấu trúc hệ được phân tích bằng quang phổ hồng ngoại (Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, FT-IR) cho thấy đầy đủ các mũi đặc trưng của các thành phần trong hệ. Hình dạng hệ vi hạt được quan sát bằng hiển vi điện tử quét (SEM) cho thấy hệ có dạng hình cầu. Tóm lại, nghiên cứu đã bào chế thành công hệ vi hạt từ fibroin tơ tằm phối trộn polymer định hướng dẫn truyền thuốc đường uống.

Examining the relationship between renewable and non-renewable energy sources and economic growth is crucial for designing sustainable growth policies in the context of global sustainability efforts. Previous studies relying on frequentist inference have faced challenges in disentangling the individual effects of these energy sources on economic growth due to their high degree of correlation, often leading to biased results. The Bayesian approach offers an alternative estimation method to address this multicollinearity issue. This study aims to demonstrate one of the advantages of the Bayesian hierarchical framework in handling multicollinearity by using a sample of 72 countries to evaluate the distinct impacts of renewable and non-renewable energy on economic growth. By incorporating specific priors into a Bayesian model to guide the estimation process, the findings confirm that both energy sources play significant roles in driving economic growth, with renewable energy sources exhibiting a comparatively weaker effect. These results align with theoretical expectations, indicating that renewables make a limited contribution to economic growth due to high investment costs, intermittency issues, and supply chain constraints. This study establishes a solid foundation for sustainable growth policy formulation by providing robust evidence.

Our study is the first to analyze the influence of CEO power and ownership structures on earning manipulation. This study also clarifies whether different ownership structures discourage powerful CEOs from manipulating earnings in family businesses. The sample data is a balanced panel with 985 observations of 116 family businesses in Vietnam from 2005 to 2020. We primarily employ the dynamic system Generalized Method of Moments with cross-sectional fixed effect to overcome endogeneity and heterogeneity issues. Our findings indicate the negative relationship between CEO power and earning manipulation. Higher state or institutional ownership restrains powerful CEOs from manipulating earnings in family businesses. However, Powerful CEOs in family businesses with higher participation of blockholders increase the earning manipulation. Our robustness results show that CEOs from 50 to 70 years old reduce earning manipulation the most in family businesses. Our findings support agency theory, stewardship theory, resource dependency theory, monitoring and accountability theory, legal framework theory, reputation theory, monitoring theory, Maslow’s need hierarchy, and prior literature. Our study contributes practical policy and management implications to sustainably reduce earning manipulation in family businesses.

Earnings management (EM) is the practice of adjusting profits or earnings on financial statements at the discretion of the management. This study undertook a regression analysis of the earnings management model, with data from 300 non-financial listed companies on the Vietnamese stock exchange during the period 2016 to 2021 to determine whether the COVID-19 pandemic has had an impact on earnings management. To estimate earnings management, compared with the original model, we add the leverage variable (LV) was used as earnings management proxy in this research. The results show that the COVID-19 pandemic positively and significantly impact the earnings management of non-financial listed companies. Moreover, it was found that managers are more involved in real earnings management than accrual earnings management, implying that financially distressed firms need to reassure investors to raise more capital during the pandemic. However, there is no evidence of a trade-off between these two techniques during the pandemic compared to before the pandemic. Additionally, this study provides evidence that the model by Roychowdhury, following Cohen et al., and the performance-matched model by Jones, following Kothari et al. are more suitable for detecting EM behavior when factoring in the financial leverage (LV) variable for firms with a high debt ratio in developing countries. Environmental management accounting (EMA) has positive support for providing information for green competitive advantage. Based on upper echelons theory (UET), this study examines the impact of upper managers' attitudes towards the environment regarding the choice of green production strategy, EMA implementation, and green competitive advantage (GCA). The moderating role of regulatory pressure (RP) in some relationships is also investigated. This study, conducted in Vietnam, features a data set of 234 medium and large manufacturers. The sample is restricted to medium and large firms only, as these possess sufficient financial resources to operate independent marketing and management accounting functions. Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) is used to test hypotheses. We found that it has a significant positive and direct effect of attitude towards the environment on choosing a green production strategy and the implementation of EMA, thereby achieving a green competitive advantage. We also find that regulatory pressures have a moderator role and are positive in some relationships. This study applied UET in the management accounting field and presented the significance of the compatibility between upper managers’ attitudes towards the environment, strategies, and EMA implementation that would improve the long-term competitive advantage of the organizations.

Performance audits (PA) are becoming essential in supreme audit institutions (SAIs). This study aims to explain why developing countries need to expand the function of PA and to explore and measure the impact of each factor on the need to develop PA in Vietnam. The research combines qualitative (group discussion) and quantitative methods by surveying 157 state auditors of the State Audit of Vietnam (SAV). Data is processed through SmartPLS 4.0.8.5 to verify the measurement and linear structure models. The results of the statistical analysis also show that all three factors have an impact on the development of PA, including (i) the degree of public governance reform, (ii) the accountability of SAV, and (iii) occupational influence. Besides, the model test results show that, from the perspective of SAV, the need to improve performance is higher than accountability. Public governance reform factors, external support, and SAI accountability contribute to enhancing the value of PA. The findings of this study complement the audit theory on three fronts: (i) PA will become more important when pursuing the goal of increasing accountability rather than improving performance; (ii) PA continues to evolve to adapt to social changes; and (iii) additional empirical evidence demonstrating that countries with low levels of transparency and accountability and inconsistent legal systems have higher audit “demand” but low supply of PA. This study proposes a PA development model to: (i) forecast the ability and level of the development audit of each SAI; and (ii) contribute to enhancing the value of PA using the PA topic selection tool. In addition, the developed scale is tested to ensure its reliability and validity. This study aims to analyze the historical trends of evapotranspiration at annual and seasonal scales and assess the sensitivity to various meteorological factors in Gia Lai province from 1980 to 2019. The modified innovative-Şen trend method and Sobol analysis are employed for trend identification and sensitivity assessment, respectively. The results obtained indicate significant downward trends using both the innovative-Şen trend analysis and the improved version of the innovative trend analysis method across different stations and time scales. Furthermore, in the low-value subgroups of the rainy season at Pleiku and An Khe stations, there were notable increasing trends with quantitative values of approximately 6%. Sensitivity analysis reveals that evapotranspiration is most sensitive to sunshine duration across most stations on annual and seasonal time scales, followed by relative humidity and minimum temperature. Overall, this research provides valuable insights into the relationship between evapotranspiration and relevant climate variables, contributing to the assessment of water demand for agricultural irrigation. HIGHLIGHTS The tendency rate of historical evapotranspiration data was evaluated in the Gia Lai province from 1980 to 2019 in this study.; The improved visualization trend analysis known as the non-parametric detection test was explored, which was proposed to identify the percentage of the fluctuations.; The temporal characteristics of the sensitivity coefficients between evapotranspiration and key climatic parameters across Gia Lai province were determined.;

The concept of fiscal transparency holds significant importance; however, its attainment poses considerable challenges. Current discourse suggests that the concept of transparency lacks sophistication. To tackle this hurdle regarding public expenditure, analytical approaches that pertain to the general concept of transparency can be utilized. The present paper aims to ascertain the determinants of the openness of the provincial budget and its subcategories by human development, technology access, as well as industrialization progress, in addition to other relevant indicators. This study aims to ascertain the fundamental principles that underpin the achievement of efficient transparency in public expenditure. In terms of outcomes, the overall model has limited relations to the hypotheses. For the elemental dependent variables, the impact of various forms of transparency on the attainment of public policy goals varies, but generally have similar results. The study has attempted to conclude the components for an optimal transparent budget system, thus providing a suggestion for effective schemes later on.

Increasing the security of block ciphers is a topic of great interest today, and thus there is a variety of work to enhance the strength of such ciphers. There are also many studies focusing on the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES), presenting methods of making block ciphers dynamic to improve their security. Animating methods can perform block cipher transformations such as substitution or permutation, or both. In this article, we propose an algorithm to create new, key-dependent XOR tables from an initial secret key. At the same time, we prove that in the ciphertext the new XOR operation can preserve the independent, co-probability distribution of the random key. We then apply these new XOR tables to make AES dynamic at the Addroundkey transformation. We created a considerable number of XOR tables, about ${(16!)}^{2}$ tables. With such a vast number of key-dependent dynamic XOR tables, cryptanalysts will have great difficulty finding the actual XOR table used in the modified AES block cipher. Therefore, with our new XOR tables, AES will be significantly enhanced.

Perception plays a vital role in autonomous driving as it serves as a prerequisite for downstream planning and decision tasks. Existing research has mainly focused on developing vehicle-side perception models using a single type of sensors. However, relying solely on one type of on-board sensors to perceive the surrounding environment leads to perceptual deficiencies owing to inherent characteristics and sensor sparsity. To address this bottleneck, we propose ViT-FuseNet, a novel vehicle-infrastructure cooperative perception framework that utilizes a Vision Transformer to fuse feature maps extracted from LiDAR and camera data. The key component is a multimodal fusion module designed based on a cross-attention mechanism. ViT-FuseNet has two distinct advantages: i) it incorporates roadside LiDAR point clouds as additional inputs to enhance the 3D object detection capability of the vehicle; and ii) for the effective fusion of data from two different modal sensors, we employ a cross-attention mechanism for feature fusion, rather than directly merging camera features with point clouds at the raw data level. Extensive experiments are conducted using the DAIR-V2X Dataset to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method. Compared with advanced cooperative perception methods, our method achieves a 6.17% improvement in 3D-mAP (IoU=0.5) and an 8.72% improvement in 3D-mAP (IoU=0.7). Moreover, the framework achieves the highest 3D-mAP (IoU=0.5) in all three object categories of benchmarks for single-vehicle perception.

Businesses have focused on using key opinion leaders (KOLs) to reach their target customers because their use of technology and social media is more and more increasing. KOLs not only interact directly with potential customers but also influence their needs through reviews or testimonials, which traditional marketing cannot conduct. The purpose of this study is to investigate the factor of involvement moderating the relationship between KOLs, customer’s attitude and purchase intention on social networks; proposes four factors to make up the perception of KOLs on social media including attractiveness, trustworthiness, expertise and brand consistency. The research sample includes 546 responses from participants aged 16 to 40 years old. Data was collected through an online survey of popular social media users (Facebook, TikTok, Instagram, Zalo and Youtube) in Vietnam. The result of the study shows that the involvement factor has positively promoted the relationship between perception of KOLs, attitude of KOLs and purchase intention; customer’s attitude both has a direct impact and an intermediary factor in the relationship between KOL and purchase intention. Furthermore, brand consistency between KOLs and products has a strong influence on customer perception towards KOLs. The study proposed some solutions to improve the effectiveness of online influencer marketing.

AbstractMindfulness is a concept that has been studied both in the East and in the West, which can be understood simply as a state of attention and response to stimuli. In the particular context of the travelling industry, mindfulness will raise customer-focused attention (FAT) and involvement in activities they participate in or in the services they receive. This research was conducted to test a model of mindfulness affecting loyalty (return intention and word of mouth) with the mediating role of customer experience. Quantitative analysis was performed with questionnaires from 388 respondents who are experiencing adventure tourism in Vietnam with 15 travel agents. The result shows that (1) Novelty producing (NOP), novelty seeking (NOS) and FAT have significant contributions to Mindfulness (2) Mindfulness has a positive effect on customer experience, return intention and word of mouth (3) Customer experience both has a direct impact and acts as an intermediary factor affecting return intention and word of mouth. The findings contribute academically to testing the mindfulness scale and the causal relationship between this factor and customer loyalty. It also allows the managers to improve overall customer loyalty through a better understanding of its dimensions.

Pomelo (Citrus maxima (Burm. f.) Merr) fresh cut has a highly sensitive fruit and has a short shelf life after peeling. The fruits represent high potentials for local consumption and international export. The objective of the study was to focus on the effects of different concentrations of sodium alginate (1%, 1.5% and 2%) combined with fixed concentrations of calcium chloride (2%) and ascorbic acid (2.5%) to biologically active compounds and allowable microbial content on the surface pomelo fresh cut slices. The results showed that the presence of coating has improved several important quality parameters of the fruit. Specifically, the combination of AL (2%) + AA (2.5%) + calcium chloride (2%) Ascorbic acid (AA) has effectively maintained the total polyphenol content and the total ascorbic acid of the pomelo slice samples, thus exhibiting higher DPPH scavenging activity, as compared to control samples. Furthermore, the pomelo coated with alginate showed good conditions for consumption with minimal microbial degradation and describe good acceptance after 6 days of storage.

Air service failures and negative customer reactions have been the subjects of increasing media attention in recent years. Drawing upon the expectation disconfirmation theory (EDT), this study investigates the impact of airline service failures on various negative emotions and negative behaviors of customers based on prior expectations and actual experiences after a service failure. The collected data was from 561 customers who experienced an air service failure within the past 6 months. The results show that, consistent with the EDT theory, prior expectations and actual experiences when an airline service failure occurs lead to disconfirmation, and this determines the negative emotions of customers. The results also show that, worry and frustration only lead to negative word-of-mouth intentions. Meanwhile, anger over an airline service failure will affect both complaints, negative word-of-mouth, and intention to switch to another airline. This study contributes by expanding and showcasing the applicability of the EDT theory to the domain of airline service failures.

This case report details a novel technique implemented in Vietnam. When full equipment is unavailable, we adapt it by using aortic balloon occlusion to enhance the patient’s hemodynamics and mitigate the risk of intraprocedural exsanguination. This approach effectively addresses the rupture of abdominal aortic aneurysms in patients with unstable hemodynamic conditions.

The topics of employer branding and organization’s image and reputation have been well-researched in the literature. However, most empirical studies were conducted in Europe, Australia, or the United States, but very few were conducted in Asia, especially in Vietnam. In addition, the interaction of image and reputation with the availability of information on social media is poorly understood. Using signaling theory for building a research model, we collected data from 206 Generation Z respondents from the logistics sector in Vietnam. Our findings show that (i) employer branding has positively and significantly related to an organization’s image and reputation; (ii) the organization’s image and reputation had a significant effect on job seekers’ intention to apply; and (iii) the interaction of image and reputation with availability of information on social media to predict the job seeker’s intention to apply. The paper also presented implications for both researchers and practitioners as well as recommendations for future research.

The importance of organizational culture in the operation and performance of businesses has been widely acknowledged, but there is inconsistency in findings about the impact of culture on organizational performance across studies. This study aimed to achieve two objectives: first, to establish the relationship between the quality of accounting information systems (AIS), organizational culture, and the financial performance of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Vietnam; and second, to survey the organizational culture strategy of Vietnamese SMEs in the context of economic crises. The study survey was conducted in May 2023 and involved 242 SMEs in Vietnam. The research model was tested using Smart PLS. The results suggest that AIS has a positive relationship with both organizational culture and the financial performance of SMEs. However, organizational culture only affects financial performance related to organizational adaptability during a crisis. Moreover, a flexible, external adaptation, and balanced cultural approach strategy has a significant impact on the financial performance of SMEs. During a crisis, managers expect employees to adapt in order to achieve strategic goals and plans while simultaneously balancing stability, engagement, and employee satisfaction to achieve organizational effectiveness. Splenic ectopic pregnancy (SEP) is a rare high-mortality condition, particularly relating to life-threatening intraperitoneal bleeding due to a high risk of spontaneous rupture. Diagnosing in a timely fashion is extremely crucial and the patients could benefit from active treatment strategies and early management. In this article, we reviewed a case of 40 years-old female who complained of lower quadrant abdominal pain and amenorrhea with a history of intrauterine device (IUD) insertion for over 6 years. Elevating b-human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) blood levels were documented, raising concern about pregnancy-related emergency conditions. Ultrasound and magnetic resonance imaging results suggested a splenic ectopic pregnancy entity with a high rupture rate. The patient subsequently underwent laparoscopic resection for splenic mass removal. Ectopic pregnancy should cautiously be excluded in all cases of abdominal pain in childbearing-age women.

This study analyzes the factors affecting accountants’ satisfaction with the accounting information system in Vietnamese enterprises. The research results of this study show that the factors affecting user satisfaction with the accounting information system are directly influenced by four factors: the quality of the accounting workforce, perception of usefulness, system quality, and information quality. The quality of the accounting workforce is the factor that has the greatest direct impact on the accountant’s satisfaction. The second is the perceived usefulness factor. The third is the system quality factor, and the last is the information quality factor. In particular, the results of this study indicate that humans are an important factor. Knowledge of accounting information security control is directly proportional to accountants’ satisfaction with the accounting information system. The results can be used to recommend enterprises improve accountants’ satisfaction, helping to increase work efficiency. Objectives: The main objectives of this study include: (1) Identifying the factors influencing the satisfaction of accountants with the accounting information system in enterprises in Vietnam. (2) Determining the relationship between accounting information security and the satisfaction of accountants with the accounting information system. (3) Providing recommendations to enhance the satisfaction of accountants with the accounting information system in enterprises in Vietnam. Methods: This study uses qualitative and quantitative research. During the qualitative process, this study analyzed related works. Group discussions are used to provide initial assessments of measurement scales, concepts, and research hypotheses and to adjust, supplement, and explore influencing factors. The questionnaire and the research model are reviewed by the experts. Quantitative research involved data collection through survey investigations based on a designed questionnaire via Google Forms. The formal research survey was conducted using a stratified sampling method, encompassing businesses from various sectors. The quantitative research employed the Cronbach Alpha reliability test for the measurement scales, exploratory factor analysis (EFA), confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), and the use of structural equation modeling (SEM) to assess the structural relationships. Descriptive statistics and tests of significance were also utilized. Big-eyed bugs Geocoris spp. are a natural enemy species presented in many parts of the world that have been extensively researched because of the benefits that they bring to plants. In Vietnam, big-eyed bugs are found in many places, especially in farming complexes or large farms. In Ho Chi Minh City, Geocoris sp. was found in Pham Van Coi Commune, Cu Chi District, Ho Chi Minh City, with bug density fluctuations across seasons at an average of 5.33 ± 2.67 individuals per point. The density of the big-eyed bug in Cu Chi District was 03 times higher than the density recorded in Ham Tan District, Binh Thuan Province. Morphological and molecular-based COI genes identified the speciments from Cu Chi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Ham Tan, Binh Thuan are Geocoris ochropterus. From the research results, these two sampling sites will be selected to further evaluate the rate of natural increase of the big-eyed bug Geocoris ochropterus.

Abstract Background Using the World Health Organization Classification 5th edition (beta version online; WHO-HAEM5bv) in emerging economies is key to global healthcare equity. Although there may be ongoing updates, hesitancy in accepting and reporting these diagnoses in publication conflicts with the WHO’s commitment to global accessibility. Aggressive NK cell leukemia (ANKL) and systemic EBV-positive T-cell lymphoma of childhood (SEBVTCL) with CD4-positive immunophenotype are both rare entities, are most described in Asians and East Asians, are associated with prior systemic chronic active EBV disease (CAEBV), and presentation with Hemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis (HLH). Recognizing and diagnosing any one of these entities requires not only training and experience in hematopathology, but good cooperation between clinical physicians and all areas of the laboratory. We describe a 30-year-old woman who presented to a Vietnam hospital and was rapidly diagnosed with ANKL, SEBVTCL, and HLH using WHO-HAEM5bv essential criteria, aided by expert consultation from a United States (US) board certified hematopathologist in real-time using video conferencing software. Methods Zoom™ videoconferencing software; Immunohistochemistry; flow cytometric immunophenotyping; polymerase chain reaction (PCR), Next Generation Sequencing (NGS). Results At the time of hospital admission, automated complete blood count (CBC) with differential count showed slight anemia, slight lymphocytosis, and moderate thrombocytopenia. HIV serology was negative. Whole blood PCR for EBV was positive showing 98,000 copies/ml. A lymph node biopsy revealed histology and immunohistochemistry consistent with the online beta version WHO-HAEM5 classification of SEBVTCL arising in CAEBV. Blood and bone marrow studies performed for staging revealed no histologic or immunohistochemical evidence of T-cell lymphoma in the bone marrow core, however, atypical blood smear lymphocyte morphology and blood immunophenotyping by flow cytometry were consistent with WHO-HAEM5 classification of ANKL. NGS revealed no evidence of genetic variant(s) associated with HLH in Vietnam. All laboratory studies were performed at Blood Transfusion Hematology Hospital (BTHH) in Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam. Conclusion Although Vietnam, an emerging economy, currently lacks the laboratory infrastructure to more rigorously confirm a rare synchronous presentation of two distinct EBV-driven T/NK cell neoplasms, these two concomitant diagnoses were made using only laboratory techniques available in Vietnam with the help of WHO-HAEM5bv and real-time video consultation by a US hematopathologist.

Density functional theory and a semi-empirical quantum chemical approach were used to evaluate the photocatalytic efficiency of ceria (CeO2) combined with reduced graphene oxide (rGO) and graphene (GP) for degrading methylene blue (MB). Two main aspects were examined: the adsorption ability of rGO and GP for MB, and the separation of photogenerated electrons and holes in CeO2/rGO and CeO2/GP. Our results, based on calculations of the adsorption energy, population analysis, bond strength index, and reduced density gradient, show favorable energetics for MB adsorption on both rGO and GP surfaces. The process is driven by weak, non-covalent interactions, with rGO showing better MB adsorption. A detailed analysis involving parameters like fractional occupation density, the centroid distance between molecular orbitals, and the Lewis acid index of the catalysts highlights the effective charge separation in CeO2/rGO compared to CeO2/GP. These findings are crucial for understanding photocatalytic degradation mechanisms of organic dyes and developing efficient photocatalysts.

This paper studies elastic stress wave propagation generated by an impact in a system consisting of a moving striker rod and an initially stationary semi-infinite rod. This research emphasizes the role of different general impedances in affecting the response during the wave propagation process. The Rayleigh–Love rod theory is used in this research to consider lateral inertia and Poisson’s effects on longitudinal waves in rods, as these factors lead to greater stress results compared to the traditional wave equation. To solve the complex wave equations in a Rayleigh–Love rod with different general impedances, the numerical inversion of Laplace transformation is applied and verified using the results of previous research. This study demonstrates that variations in general impedances cause different wave reflection and transmission behaviors at the interface. As the wave interacts with this discontinuity of impedance, it may be amplified or attenuated, and changes in impedance can significantly affect wave propagation behaviors.

The Phan Rang sheep, considered the sole indigenous breed of Vietnam, are primarily concentrated in the two central provinces of Ninh Thuan and Binh Thuan, with Ninh Thuan accounting for more than 90% of the country’s sheep population. These provinces are known for their high temperatures and frequent droughts. The long-standing presence of the Phan Rang sheep in these regions suggests their potential resilience to heat stress—a trait of increasing interest in the face of global climate change. Despite the breed’s significance, a critical knowledge gap hinders conservation and breeding programs. To address this, our study employed a two-pronged approach. First, we collected body conformational data to aid in breed identification. Second, we analyzed mitochondrial DNA (D-loop) and Y chromosome markers (SRY and SRYM18) to elucidate the maternal and paternal lineages. Among the 68 Phan Rang sheep analyzed for their D-loop, 19 belonged to mitochondrial haplogroup A, while 49 belonged to haplogroup B. The haplogroups can be subdivided into 16 unique haplotypes. All 19 rams surveyed for their paternal lineages belonged to haplotypes H5 and H6. These findings strongly support the hypothesis of dual origins for the Phan Rang sheep. This study presents the first genetic data for the Phan Rang breed, providing crucial insights for future research and conservation efforts.

The Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) is an efficient technology for call relays, and it transmits information from multiple services including data, video, or voice. This information is conveyed at ATM multiplexers in small fixed-size packets called cells. The acceptable cell loss probability at ATM multiplexers is about 10−12. Important Sampling (IS) is an efficient method for estimating tiny probabilities that cannot be achieved by traditional Monte Carlo (MC) methods. This research presents a novel approach for evaluating the tail probability in the MMPP/D/1 queue system utilizing importance sampling simulation in the ATM network. To generate more rare events, a virtual queue is implemented in the dequeue process by decreasing the processing rate in the queue. In this way, the tail probability can be estimated on a real-time network.

Cases of vulvovaginitis caused by Cryptococcus genus are exceedingly uncommon, with only a handful of instances having been described for this causative species. This report describes a rare case of vulvovaginitis suspected to be caused by Cryptococcus victoriae in a 58-year-old woman residing in an urban area of Hanoi city, Vietnam. The patient with a 10-year history of depression and type 2 diabetes mellitus was admitted to the hospital due to vulvar itching and vaginal discharge. Vaginal swabs confirmed the presence of a yeast infection by direct microscopic examination with 10% KOH and culture on CHROMagar Candida. The yeast was identified as C victoriae using genetic sequencing tools. The patient’s treatment plan involved topical clotrimazole and a daily oral dose of 200 mg of itraconazole for 7 days. This comprehensive treatment approach resulted in the patient’s full recovery. This is the first reported case of vulvovaginitis attributed to C victoriae in humans worldwide.

Mesopores and silanol nests are known two technological keys that essentially control the catalytic performance of ZSM-5 zeolite. However, designing and controlling them without using chemicals so that the produced ZSM-5 can have strongly enhanced catalytic properties and more importantly can be applied at industrial scale have still been a big challenge up to now. The present study employed the 10 MeV electron beam (EB) generated from an industrial linear accelerator to introduce both the O-vacancy rich mesopores and stable triad-silanol nests in ZSM-5. The structural modification of irradiated ZSM-5 samples was explored by using SEM and FTIR combined with positron annihilation spectroscopy (PAS) including positron annihilation lifetime (PAL), Doppler broadening (DB) of electron–positron annihilation energy and electron momentum distribution (EMD). Obtained results indicated that EB irradiation could recover the defective-crystal structure as well as intensively modify the structures of ZSM-5. In particular, the mechanism for the solid-state crystallization and the formation of the O-vacancy rich mesopores (maximum size of ∼4.5 nm) in ZSM-5 under the combined EB irradiation (10−110 kGy) and calcination (600 °C) was, for the first time, proposed. The mechanism for the formation of stable triad-silanol nests in the channels of irradiated and calcined ZSM-5 zeolites was also explored. The present study, therefore, opens a new research path of applying both EB irradiation and calcination to produce ZSM-5 with novel features for industrial catalytic application at large-production scale.

Using the valence framework, this study examined the effect of perceived benefit (utilitarian value and convenience) and perceived risk (privacy & security barrier and usage constraints) to purchase intention of consumers towards online travel agencies (OTAs). Furthermore, the impacts of personality traits (openness to change and compatibility) to perceived benefit, perceived risk, and purchase intention of consumers towards OTAs are also put under consideration. A research sample, including 494 observations from 18 years old and above who have used OTAs, was collected and used in empirical analyzing, the partial least squares structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM) is a suitable choice for assessing the validation of measurement model and construct model. The results of this study indicate that, being consistent to the valence framework, perceived benefit and perceived risk significantly affect purchase intention towards OTAs. Additionally, openness to change and compatibility has positive influence on perceived benefits and negative influence on perceived risk. Openness to chance is also proven to positively impact OTAs purchase intentions. Based on these findings and their implications, OTAs providers and tourism enterprises could plan suitable strategies for attracting customers.

This paper develops a finite element method for double beams subjected to static loading. The double beam consists of two Euler–Bernoulli beams connected continuously by an elastic spring connection. The finite element for a double beam is formulated with eight degrees of freedom based on the Euler-Bernoulli beam theory. The finite element method is implemented in MATLAB software to analyze the behavior of the double beams. The MATLAB code calculates the displacements of both the upper and lower beams. Numerical examples are compared with the analytical solution to demonstrate the high accuracy of the proposed method.

This dataset delves into the intricate dynamics linking organizational commitment (OC) and job performance (JP) within the realm of State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs). Centering on the water supply industry, it seeks to unravel the nuances of organizational citizenship behavior (OCB) in an economy oriented by socialist values. The compilation of this dataset represents a balanced integration of qualitative and quantitative methodologies, incorporating insights from expert interviews alongside data gathered from employee surveys. It encompasses 336 valid responses, which have been meticulously analyzed through Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). This approach facilitates a deeper understanding of the interconnections between OC, OCB, and EP. The dataset is instrumental in highlighting the pivotal role of professional integrity and voluntary dedication within SOEs, underscoring their critical function in representing state interests and effectively serving the public.

The present paper investigates the impact of pairing correlation on the nuclear level density (NLD) and radiative strength function (RSF) of an odd-odd and rare-earth 166Ho nucleus. By employing the exact thermal pairing (EP) solution in conjunction with both the temperature-dependent independent-particle model (EP+IPM) for the NLD and the phonon damping model (EP+PDM) for the RSF, we achieve good agreement with the experimental NLD and RSF data, which have been recently extracted by using the Oslo method. Notably, without adding any extra parameters, our calculations successfully reproduce the pygmy dipole resonances (PDR) and a portion of the strength around the region of scissor resonance (SR) in the RSF. This suggests that the SR in this nucleus may be less pronounced than that obtained in the previous analysis within the phenomenological model. These features are the consequences of the EP and the couplings of the PDM phonon to all the particle-hole (ph), particle-particle (pp), and hole-hole (hh) configurations within the EP+PDM, thus insisting on the importance of the underlying physics involved in this model. Utilizing the obtained NLD and RSF, we predict the 165Ho(n,γ)166Ho and Maxwellian-averaged cross sections, which exhibit remarkable agreement with all the available experimental data from the Experimental Nuclear Reaction Data and Karlsruhe Astrophysical Database of Nucleosynthesis in Stars. These results reflect the imprint of the pairing correlation on those quantities.
