The situation of discharging a large amount of dyes from the textile industries has caused many adverse effects on human health and the ecosystems. Emerging bio-nanomaterials represent a new trend in efficient dye removal in aqueous media. Herein, we mention that MgFe2O4 bioprepared using gerbera extract has been successfully used to adsorb malachite green (MG) in water. A comparison was made to determine the dye removal efficiency between biogenic MgFe2O4 (MFOB) and chemical MgFe2O4 (MFOC). The spherical MFOB material exhibited a large surface area of 85.0 m2 g–1 and high crystallinity. The obtained outcomes showed that the highest adsorption capacity of MG dye was 584.49 mg g–1 at a MFOB dose of 0.05 g L–1 and MG concentration of 10 mg L–1. Higher correlation coefficients in the Langmuir isotherm suggested monolayer adsorption of MG. The Box–Behnken design and response surface method were established to optimize MG removal percentage under the conditions, i.e., initial MG concentration (10–30 mg L–1), adsorbent dose (0.02–0.08 g L–1), and pH of dye solution (6–8). MFOB had good reusability with high removal efficiencies after three continuous cycles. Post reuse, this adsorbent still showed excellent stability through the verification of their structural properties in comparison with fresh MFOB, showing potential for practical applications. Water contamination caused by textile dyes can affect human health, calling for effective treatment method. Here, we report the preparation of MgFe2O4/C composite through hydrothermal method to adsorb three dyes including rhodamine B, methyl orange (MO) and acid yellow 17 (AY) in water. MgFe2O4/C obtained a surface area of 692.32 m2/g and MgFe2O4 particles were well-dispersed on porous carbon matrix. Taguchi experimental design (L16) was conducted to test the effect of four factors, including initial concentration, adsorbent dosage, contact time and pH at different four levels. pH was a first-ranked factor for adsorption of all three dyes with the highest contribution between 33.20 and 55.61%. The highest capacity (158.12 mg/g) was determined for MO dye adsorption under a concentration of 40 mg/L, pH 3, a dose of 0.05 g/L, and a duration of 240 min. The experiments of MgFe2O4/C reusability were performed, reaching at least fourth cycles offering potential for reuse. It is recommended that Taguchi orthogonal array design can be well adopted to reach the best condition of organic dyes adsorption by MgFe2O4/C composite. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Photocatalytic degradation is a promising emerging method for eliminating dye from contaminated water. The core of photocatalytic degradation lies in the design and preparation of high-performance catalysts that do not produce polluting secondary products. Here, we explore magnetic NiFe2O4 materials doped with varying amounts of Cu2+ ions (CuxNi1−xFe2O4, where x = 0–0.5) via the combustion method to target rhodamine B (RhB) dye removal. To validate whether Cu2+ is incorporated, the structural characteristics of the catalysts were analyzed using physical techniques. The photocatalytic activity of CuxNi1−xFe2O4 (x = 0–0.5) was evaluated based on the degradation of RhB, achieving 97.25% degradation efficiency under optimized conditions. The radical quenching results revealed that •OH played a pivotal factor in the photodegradation process. Additionally, chemical oxygen demand (COD) testing yielded a level of 24.67 mg L−1, significantly lower than the World Health Organization (WHO) drinking water standards. Overall, our findings reached high photocatalytic activity of Cu0.5Ni0.5Fe2O4 in removing a harmful dye (RhB) from water. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract: Magnetic drug targeting, the targeting of a drug conjugated with a magnetic material under the action of external magnetic field constitutes an important drug delivery system. This paper describes the strategy to design a multifunctional, nanosized magnetofluorescent water-dispersible Fe3O4–curcumin conjugate and its multiple ability to label, target and treat the tumor cells. The conjugate possesses magnetic nano Fe3O4 core, chitosan (CS) or oleic acid (OL) as outer shell and entrapped curcumin (Cur), serving dual function of naturally autofluorescent dye as well as anti-tumor model drug, delivered to the cells with the help of macrophage (Cur possesses anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory and anti-tumor ability). Fe3O4–Cur conjugate exhibited a high loading cellular uptake which was clearly visualized dually by Fluorescence Microscope, Laser scanning confocal microscope (LSCM) as well as magnetization measurement (Physical properties measurement systems, PPMS). Flowers are often discarded after cultural and religious events, making it worthwhile to explore the utilization of this floral waste for material production. Floral extracts contain a diverse array of phytochemicals such as polyphenols, flavonoids, and reducing sugars, which play a significant role in the formation and influencing the properties of zinc oxide (ZnO) nanoparticles. In this review, we delve into the importance of floral extract, methodology, mechanism, and influencing factors in the production of ZnO nanoparticles. Additionally, the role of green ZnO nanoparticles as an adsorbent and photocatalyst for water treatment is discussed. These floral extract-mediated ZnO nanoparticles exhibit advantages in agricultural and biomedical applications, including promoting seed germination and demonstrating antibacterial, anticancer, and antifungal properties. Cost analysis reveals that while various expenses are associated with ZnO production, scaling up processes can help reduce these costs. The global occurrence of textile dyes pollution has recently emerged, posing a serious threat to ecological systems. To abate dye contamination, we here developed a novel magnetic porous CoFe 2 O 4 @MIL-53(Al) nanocomposite by incorporating magnetic CoFe 2 O 4 nanoparticles with MIL-53(Al) metal-organic framework. This nanocomposite possessed a surface area of 197.144 m 2  g -1 and a pore volume of 0.413 cm 3  g -1 . The effect of contact time (5-120 min), concentration (5-50 mg L -1 ), dosage (0.1-1.0 g L -1 ), and pH (2-10) on Congo red adsorption was clarified. CoFe 2 O 4 @MIL-53(Al) could remove 95.85% of Cong red dye from water with an accelerated kinetic rate of 0.6544 min -1 within 10 min. The kinetic and isotherm models showed the predominance of Bangham and Temkin. According to Langmuir, the maximum uptake capacities of CoFe 2 O 4 @MIL-53(Al), CoFe 2 O 4 , and MIL-53(Al) adsorbents were 43.768, 17.982, and 15.295 mg g -1 , respectively. CoFe 2 O 4 @MIL-53(Al) was selected to optimize Cong red treatment using Box-Behnken experimental design. The outcomes showed that CoFe 2 O 4 @MIL-53(Al) achieved the highest experimental uptake capacity of 35.919 mg g -1 at concentration (29.966 mg L -1 ), time (14.926 min), and dosage (0.486 g L -1 ). CoFe 2 O 4 @MIL-53(Al) could treat dye mixture (methylene blue, methyl orange, Congo red, malachite green, and crystal violet) with an outstanding removal efficiency of 81.24% for 30 min, and could be reused up to five cycles.
