Large Language Models (LLMs), with gradually improving reading comprehension and reasoning capabilities, are being applied to a range of complex language tasks, including the automatic generation of language data for various purposes. However, research on applying LLMs for automatic data generation in low-resource languages like Vietnamese is still underdeveloped and lacks comprehensive evaluation. In this paper, we explore the use of LLMs for automatic data generation for the Vietnamese fact-checking task, which faces significant data limitations. Specifically, we focus on fact-checking data where claims are synthesized from multiple evidence sentences to assess the information synthesis capabilities of LLMs. We develop an automatic data construction process using simple prompt techniques on LLMs and explore several methods to improve the quality of the generated data. To evaluate the quality of the data generated by LLMs, we conduct both manual quality assessments and performance evaluations using language models. Experimental results and manual evaluations illustrate that while the quality of the generated data has significantly improved through fine-tuning techniques, LLMs still cannot match the data quality produced by humans.

Discovering new solid-state materials requires rapidly exploring the vast space of crystal structures and locating stable regions. Generating stable materials with desired properties and compositions is extremely difficult as we search for very small isolated pockets in the exponentially many possibilities, considering elements from the periodic table and their 3D arrangements in crystal lattices. Materials discovery necessitates both optimized solution structures and diversity in the generated material structures. Existing methods struggle to explore large material spaces and generate diverse samples with desired properties and requirements. We propose the Symmetry-aware Hierarchical Architecture for Flow-based Traversal (SHAFT), a novel generative model employing a hierarchical exploration strategy to efficiently exploit the symmetry of the materials space to generate crystal structures given desired properties. In particular, our model decomposes the exponentially large materials space into a hierarchy of subspaces consisting of symmetric space groups, lattice parameters, and atoms. We demonstrate that SHAFT significantly outperforms state-of-the-art iterative generative methods, such as Generative Flow Networks (GFlowNets) and Crystal Diffusion Variational AutoEncoders (CDVAE), in crystal structure generation tasks, achieving higher validity, diversity, and stability of generated structures optimized for target properties and requirements.

The aggressiveness of prostate cancer, the most common cancer in men worldwide, is primarily assessed based on histopathological data using the Gleason scoring system. While artificial intelligence (AI) has shown promise in accurately predicting Gleason scores, these predictions often lack inherent explainability, potentially leading to distrust in human-machine interactions. To address this issue, we introduce a novel dataset of 1,015 tissue microarray core images, annotated by an international group of 54 pathologists. The annotations provide detailed localized pattern descriptions for Gleason grading in line with international guidelines. Utilizing this dataset, we develop an inherently explainable AI system based on a U-Net architecture that provides predictions leveraging pathologists' terminology. This approach circumvents post-hoc explainability methods while maintaining or exceeding the performance of methods trained directly for Gleason pattern segmentation (Dice score: 0.713 $\pm$ 0.003 trained on explanations vs. 0.691 $\pm$ 0.010 trained on Gleason patterns). By employing soft labels during training, we capture the intrinsic uncertainty in the data, yielding strong results in Gleason pattern segmentation even in the context of high interobserver variability. We perform a systematic study of inelastic nuclear rainbow scattering for the \oc system to the 2$^+$ (4.44 MeV) state of $^{12}$C at incident energies of 100--608 MeV with the coupled-channels method. The recently generalized nearside-farside decomposition for inelastic scattering was applied in combination with the multichannel deflection function analysis to elucidate the origin of the nuclear rainbow phenomenon and the suppression of the primary and supernumerary Airy minima in the inelastic scattering cross section. The systematic evolution of the Airy minima for the excited 2$^+$ (4.44 MeV) state of $^{12}$C was unambiguously determined. Our work suggests that there is no clear shift in the positions of the first Airy minima and a small shift at low energies for the second and third Airy minima between the inelastic and elastic scattering cross sections. Using the $K$-subamplitudes splitting technique combined with the generalized nearside-farside decomposition and deflection function, the distinct refractive pattern commonly suppressed in the inelastic heavy-ion scattering can be interpreted and provides new insights into the relationship between elastic and inelastic nuclear rainbow scattering.

We discuss pioneering heat and fluid flow simulations of fusion and fission energy systems with NekRS on exascale computing facilities, including Frontier and Aurora. The Argonne-based code, NekRS, is a highly-performant open-source code for the simulation of incompressible and low-Mach fluid flow, heat transfer, and combustion with a particular focus on turbulent flows in complex domains. It is based on rapidly convergent high-order spectral element discretizations that feature minimal numerical dissipation and dispersion. State-of-the-art multilevel preconditioners, efficient high-order time-splitting methods, and runtime-adaptive communication strategies are built on a fast OCCA-based kernel library, libParanumal, to provide scalability and portability across the spectrum of current and future high-performance computing platforms. On Frontier, Nek5000/RS has achieved an unprecedented milestone in breaching over 1 trillion degrees of freedom with the spectral element methods for the simulation of the CHIMERA fusion technology testing platform. Amodal Instance Segmentation (AIS) presents an intriguing challenge, including the segmentation prediction of both visible and occluded parts of objects within images. Previous methods have often relied on shape prior information gleaned from training data to enhance amodal segmentation. However, these approaches are susceptible to overfitting and disregard object category details. Recent advancements highlight the potential of conditioned diffusion models, pretrained on extensive datasets, to generate images from latent space. Drawing inspiration from this, we propose AISDiff with a Diffusion Shape Prior Estimation (DiffSP) module. AISDiff begins with the prediction of the visible segmentation mask and object category, alongside occlusion-aware processing through the prediction of occluding masks. Subsequently, these elements are inputted into our DiffSP module to infer the shape prior of the object. DiffSP utilizes conditioned diffusion models pretrained on extensive datasets to extract rich visual features for shape prior estimation. Additionally, we introduce the Shape Prior Amodal Predictor, which utilizes attention-based feature maps from the shape prior to refine amodal segmentation. Neural radiance fields (NeRF) have gained prominence as a machine learning technique for representing 3D scenes and estimating the bidirectional reflectance distribution function (BRDF) from multiple images. However, most existing research has focused on close-range imagery, typically modeling scene surfaces with simplified Microfacet BRDF models, which are often inadequate for representing complex Earth surfaces. Furthermore, NeRF approaches generally require large sets of simultaneously captured images for high-quality surface depth reconstruction - a condition rarely met in satellite imaging. To overcome these challenges, we introduce BRDF-NeRF, which incorporates the physically-based semi-empirical Rahman-Pinty-Verstraete (RPV) BRDF model, known to better capture the reflectance properties of natural surfaces. Additionally, we propose guided volumetric sampling and depth supervision to enable radiance field modeling with a minimal number of views. Our method is evaluated on two satellite datasets: (1) Djibouti, captured at varying viewing angles within a single epoch with a fixed Sun position, and (2) Lanzhou, captured across multiple epochs with different Sun positions and viewing angles. Using only three to four satellite images for training, BRDF-NeRF successfully synthesizes novel views from unseen angles and generates high-quality digital surface models (DSMs).

Pain is a more intuitive and user-friendly way of communicating problems, making it especially useful in rehabilitation nurse training robots. While most previous methods have focused on classifying or recognizing pain expressions, these approaches often result in unnatural, jiggling robot faces. We introduce PainDiffusion, a model that generates facial expressions in response to pain stimuli, with controllable pain expressiveness and emotion status. PainDiffusion leverages diffusion forcing to roll out predictions over arbitrary lengths using a conditioned temporal U-Net. It operates as a latent diffusion model within EMOCA's facial expression latent space, ensuring a compact data representation and quick rendering time. For training data, we process the BioVid Heatpain Database, extracting expression codes and subject identity configurations. We also propose a novel set of metrics to evaluate pain expressions, focusing on expressiveness, diversity, and the appropriateness of model-generated outputs. Finally, we demonstrate that PainDiffusion outperforms the autoregressive method, both qualitatively and quantitatively. The connection between galaxies and their host dark matter (DM) halos is critical to our understanding of cosmology, galaxy formation, and DM physics. To maximize the return of upcoming cosmological surveys, we need an accurate way to model this complex relationship. Many techniques have been developed to model this connection, from Halo Occupation Distribution (HOD) to empirical and semi-analytic models to hydrodynamic. Hydrodynamic simulations can incorporate more detailed astrophysical processes but are computationally expensive; HODs, on the other hand, are computationally cheap but have limited accuracy. In this work, we present NeHOD, a generative framework based on variational diffusion model and Transformer, for painting galaxies/subhalos on top of DM with an accuracy of hydrodynamic simulations but at a computational cost similar to HOD. By modeling galaxies/subhalos as point clouds, instead of binning or voxelization, we can resolve small spatial scales down to the resolution of the simulations. For each halo, NeHOD predicts the positions, velocities, masses, and concentrations of its central and satellite galaxies. We train NeHOD on the TNG-Warm DM suite of the DREAMS project, which consists of 1024 high-resolution zoom-in hydrodynamic simulations of Milky Way-mass halos with varying warm DM mass and astrophysical parameters. We show that our model captures the complex relationships between subhalo properties as a function of the simulation parameters, including the mass functions, stellar-halo mass relations, concentration-mass relations, and spatial clustering. Heat pipes can efficiently and passively remove heat in nuclear microreactors. Nevertheless, the flow dynamics within heat pipes present a significant challenge in designing and optimizing them for nuclear energy applications. This work aims to explore the vapor core of heat pipes through comprehensive two- and three-dimensional simulations, with a primary focus on modeling the pressure recovery observed in the condenser section. The goal is to establish improved correlations for one-dimensional heat pipe codes. The simulations are validated against experimental data from a vapor pipe documented in the literature. The turbulence model is employed in the two-dimensional simulations through the open-source spectral-element code Nek5000. This model provides insights into pressure recovery within heat pipes with low computational cost. In addition, Large Eddy Simulations (LES) are used to capture turbulent flow features in a three-dimensional vapor pipe model, utilizing the code NekRS. Using LES is crucial for comprehending the impact of laminar-to-turbulent transition on pressure recovery. A simulation framework is created to model the heat pipe's vapor core, laying the foundation for an enhanced understanding of heat pipe behavior. This paper presents a fully coupled blockchain-assisted federated learning architecture that effectively eliminates single points of failure by decentralizing both the training and aggregation tasks across all participants. Our proposed system offers a high degree of flexibility, allowing participants to select shared models and customize the aggregation for local needs, thereby optimizing system performance, including accurate inference results. Notably, the integration of blockchain technology in our work is to promote a trustless environment, ensuring transparency and non-repudiation among participants when abnormalities are detected. To validate the effectiveness, we conducted real-world federated learning deployments on a private Ethereum platform, using two different models, ranging from simple to complex neural networks. The experimental results indicate comparable inference accuracy between centralized and decentralized federated learning settings. Furthermore, our findings indicate that asynchronous aggregation is a feasible option for simple learning models. However, complex learning models require greater training model involvement in the aggregation to achieve high model quality, instead of asynchronous aggregation. Extensive elastic scattering data measured at energies around 10 to 20 MeV/nucleon for some identical systems, like 12C+12C and 16O+16O, exhibit the nuclear rainbow pattern of broad Airy oscillations of the cross section at medium and large angles. Due to the identity of the scattered projectile and recoiled target, the rainbow pattern at angles around and beyond $\theta_{\rm c.m.}\approx 90^\circ$ is strongly deteriorated by the boson exchange. The nuclear rainbow features in the identical-particles elastic scattering discussed so far are based on the nearside-farside (NF) decomposition of the scattering amplitude given by an optical model calculation neglecting the projectile-target exchange symmetry. Moreover, the NF decomposition method was developed in the 70s by Fuller for nonidentical systems only, and the details of how the exchange symmetry of an identical system affects the evolution of nuclear rainbow remain unexplored. Therefore, the Fuller method is generalized in this work for the elastic scattering of two identical (spin-zero) nuclei, with the projectile-target exchange symmetry taken explicitly into account. The results obtained for elastic 12C+12C and 16O+16O scattering at low energies show the exchange symmetry results in a symmetric interchange of the nearside and farside patterns at angles passing $\theta_{\rm c.m.}=90^\circ$, which requires a more subtle interpretation of nuclear rainbow. We also found that a similar NF interchange occurs in a nonidentical nucleus-nucleus system with the core-core symmetry, where the elastic cross section at backward angles is due mainly to the elastic transfer of cluster or nucleon between two identical cores. This interesting effect is illustrated in the elastic 16O+12C scattering at low energies where the elastic $\alpha$ transfer between two 12C cores has been proven to enhance the elastic cross section at backward angles., Comment: 10 pages, 10 figures

We introduce the DREAMS project, an innovative approach to understanding the astrophysical implications of alternative dark matter models and their effects on galaxy formation and evolution. The DREAMS project will ultimately comprise thousands of cosmological hydrodynamic simulations that simultaneously vary over dark matter physics, astrophysics, and cosmology in modeling a range of systems -- from galaxy clusters to ultra-faint satellites. Such extensive simulation suites can provide adequate training sets for machine-learning-based analyses. This paper introduces two new cosmological hydrodynamical suites of Warm Dark Matter, each comprised of 1024 simulations generated using the Arepo code. One suite consists of uniform-box simulations covering a $(25~h^{-1}~{\rm M}_\odot)^3$ volume, while the other consists of Milky Way zoom-ins with sufficient resolution to capture the properties of classical satellites. For each simulation, the Warm Dark Matter particle mass is varied along with the initial density field and several parameters controlling the strength of baryonic feedback within the IllustrisTNG model. We provide two examples, separately utilizing emulators and Convolutional Neural Networks, to demonstrate how such simulation suites can be used to disentangle the effects of dark matter and baryonic physics on galactic properties. The DREAMS project can be extended further to include different dark matter models, galaxy formation physics, and astrophysical targets. The rapid integration of Generative AI (GenAI) and Large Language Models (LLMs) in sectors such as education and healthcare have marked a significant advancement in technology. However, this growth has also led to a largely unexplored aspect: their security vulnerabilities. As the ecosystem that includes both offline and online models, various tools, browser plugins, and third-party applications continues to expand, it significantly widens the attack surface, thereby escalating the potential for security breaches. These expansions in the 6G and beyond landscape provide new avenues for adversaries to manipulate LLMs for malicious purposes. We focus on the security aspects of LLMs from the viewpoint of potential adversaries. We aim to dissect their objectives and methodologies, providing an in-depth analysis of known security weaknesses. This will include the development of a comprehensive threat taxonomy, categorizing various adversary behaviors. Also, our research will concentrate on how LLMs can be integrated into cybersecurity efforts by defense teams, also known as blue teams. We will explore the potential synergy between LLMs and blockchain technology, and how this combination could lead to the development of next-generation, fully autonomous security solutions. Amodal Instance Segmentation (AIS) presents a challenging task as it involves predicting both visible and occluded parts of objects within images. Existing AIS methods rely on a bidirectional approach, encompassing both the transition from amodal features to visible features (amodal-to-visible) and from visible features to amodal features (visible-to-amodal). Our observation shows that the utilization of amodal features through the amodal-to-visible can confuse the visible features due to the extra information of occluded/hidden segments not presented in visible display. Consequently, this compromised quality of visible features during the subsequent visible-to-amodal transition. To tackle this issue, we introduce ShapeFormer, a decoupled Transformer-based model with a visible-to-amodal transition. It facilitates the explicit relationship between output segmentations and avoids the need for amodal-to-visible transitions. ShapeFormer comprises three key modules: (i) Visible-Occluding Mask Head for predicting visible segmentation with occlusion awareness, (ii) Shape-Prior Amodal Mask Head for predicting amodal and occluded masks, and (iii) Category-Specific Shape Prior Retriever aims to provide shape prior knowledge. Comprehensive experiments and extensive ablation studies across various AIS benchmarks demonstrate the effectiveness of our ShapeFormer. At the heart of the flourishing field of machine learning potentials are graph neural networks, where deep learning is interwoven with physics-informed machine learning (PIML) architectures. Various PIML models, upon training with density functional theory (DFT) material structure-property datasets, have achieved unprecedented prediction accuracy for a range of molecular and material properties. A critical component in the learned graph representation of crystal structures in PIMLs is how the various fragments of the structure's graph are embedded in a neural network. Several of the state-of-art PIML models apply spherical harmonic functions. Such functions are based on the assumption that DFT computes the Coulomb potential of atom-atom interactions. However, DFT does not directly compute such potentials, but integrates the electron-atom potentials. We introduce the direct integration of the external potential (DIEP) methods which more faithfully reflects that actual computational workflow in DFT. DIEP integrates the external (electron-atom) potential and uses these quantities to embed the structure graph into a deep learning model. We demonstrate the enhanced accuracy of the DIEP model in predicting the energies of pristine and defective materials. The escape velocity profile of the Milky Way offers a crucial and independent measurement of its underlying mass distribution and dark matter properties. Using a sample of stars from Gaia DR3 with 6D kinematics and strict quality cuts, we obtain an escape velocity profile of the Milky Way from 4 kpc to 11 kpc in Galactocentric radius. To infer the escape velocity in radial bins, we model the tail of the stellar speed distribution with both traditional power law models and a new functional form that we introduce. While power law models tend to rely on extrapolation to high speeds, we find our new functional form gives the most faithful representation of the observed distribution. Using this for the escape velocity profile, we constrain the properties of the Milky Way's dark matter halo modeled as a Navarro-Frenck-White profile. Combined with constraints from the circular velocity at the solar position, we obtain a concentration and mass of $c_{200\rm{c}}^{\rm{DM}} = 13.9^{+6.2}_{-4.3}$ and $\rm{M}_{200\rm{c}}^{\rm{DM}} = 0.55^{+0.15}_{-0.14}\times 10^{12} M_\odot$. This corresponds to a total Milky Way mass of $\rm{M}_{200\rm{c}} = 0.64^{+0.15}_{-0.14}\times 10^{12} M_\odot$, which is on the low end of the historic range of the Galaxy's mass, but in line with other recent estimates., Comment: 25 pages, 13 figures, comments welcome

Renal biopsies are the gold standard for diagnosis of kidney diseases. Lesion scores made by renal pathologists are semi-quantitative and exhibit high inter-observer variability. Automating lesion classification within segmented anatomical structures can provide decision support in quantification analysis and reduce the inter-observer variability. Nevertheless, classifying lesions in regions-of-interest (ROIs) is clinically challenging due to (a) a large amount of densely packed anatomical objects (up to 1000), (b) class imbalance across different compartments (at least 3), (c) significant variation in object scales (i.e. sizes and shapes), and (d) the presence of multi-label lesions per anatomical structure. Existing models lack the capacity to address these complexities efficiently and generically. This paper presents \textbf{a generalized technical solution} for large-scale, multi-source datasets with diverse lesions. Our approach utilizes two sub-networks: dense instance segmentation and lesion classification. We introduce \textbf{DiffRegFormer}, an end-to-end dense instance segmentation model designed for multi-class, multi-scale objects within ROIs. Combining diffusion models, transformers, and RCNNs, DiffRegFormer efficiently recognizes over 500 objects across three anatomical classes (glomeruli, tubuli, arteries) within ROIs on a single NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 GPU. On a dataset of 303 ROIs (from 148 Jones' silver-stained renal WSIs), it outperforms state of art models, achieving AP of 52.1\% (detection) and 46.8\% (segmentation). Our lesion classification sub-network achieves 89.2\% precision and 64.6\% recall on 21889 object patches (from the 303 ROIs). Dark matter halo demographics and assembly histories are a manifestation of cosmological structure formation and have profound implications for the formation and evolution of galaxies. In particular, merger trees provide fundamental input for several modelling techniques, such as semi-analytic models (SAMs), sub-halo abundance matching (SHAM), and decorated halo occupation distribution models (HODs). Motivated by the new ultra-high-redshift (z > 10) frontier enabled by JWST, we present a new suite of Gadget at Ultrahigh Redshift with Extra-Fine Timesteps (GUREFT) dark matter-only cosmological simulations that are carefully designed to capture halo merger histories and structural properties in the ultra-z universe. The simulation suite consists of four 1024^3-particle simulations with box sizes of 5, 15, 35, and 90 Mpc h-1, each with 170 snapshots stored between 40 > z > 6. With the unprecedented number of available snapshots and strategically chosen dynamic range covered by these boxes, gureft uncovers the emerging dark matter halo populations and their assembly histories in the earliest epochs of cosmic history. In this work, we present the halo mass functions between z ~ 20 to 6 down to log(Mvir/Msun) ~ 5, and show that at high redshift, these robust halo mass functions can differ substantially from commonly used analytic approximations or older fitting functions in the literature. The mass assembly history (MAH) of dark matter halos plays a crucial role in shaping the formation and evolution of galaxies. MAHs are used extensively in semi-analytic and empirical models of galaxy formation, yet current analytic methods to generate them are inaccurate and unable to capture their relationship with the halo internal structure and large-scale environment. This paper introduces FLORAH, a machine-learning framework for generating assembly histories of ensembles of dark matter halos. We train FLORAH on the assembly histories from the GUREFT and VSMDPL N-body simulations and demonstrate its ability to recover key properties such as the time evolution of mass and concentration. We obtain similar results for the galaxy stellar mass versus halo mass relation and its residuals when we run the Santa Cruz semi-analytic model on FLORAH-generated assembly histories and halo formation histories extracted from an N-body simulation. We further show that FLORAH also reproduces the dependence of clustering on properties other than mass (assembly bias), which is not captured by other analytic methods. By combining multiple networks trained on a suite of simulations with different redshift ranges and mass resolutions, we are able to construct accurate main progenitor branches (MPBs) with a wide dynamic mass range from $z=0$ up to an ultra-high redshift $z \approx 20$, currently far beyond that of a single N-body simulation. Advancements in sensor technology, artificial intelligence (AI), and augmented reality (AR) have unlocked opportunities across various domains. AR and large language models like GPT have witnessed substantial progress and are increasingly being employed in diverse fields. One such promising application is in operations and maintenance (O&M). O&M tasks often involve complex procedures and sequences that can be challenging to memorize and execute correctly, particularly for novices or under high-stress situations. By marrying the advantages of superimposing virtual objects onto the physical world, and generating human-like text using GPT, we can revolutionize O&M operations. This study introduces a system that combines AR, Optical Character Recognition (OCR), and the GPT language model to optimize user performance while offering trustworthy interactions and alleviating workload in O&M tasks. This system provides an interactive virtual environment controlled by the Unity game engine, facilitating a seamless interaction between virtual and physical realities. A case study (N=15) is conducted to illustrate the findings and answer the research questions. The results indicate that users can complete similarly challenging tasks in less time using our proposed AR and AI system. The third data release (DR3) of Gaia has provided a five-fold increase in the number of radial velocity measurements of stars, as well as a stark improvement in parallax and proper motion measurements. To help with studies that seek to test models and interpret Gaia DR3, we present nine Gaia synthetic surveys, based on three solar positions in three Milky-Way-mass galaxies of the Latte suite of the Fire-2 cosmological simulations. These synthetic surveys match the selection function, radial velocity measurements, and photometry of Gaia DR3, adapting the code base Ananke, previously used to match the Gaia DR2 release in Sanderson et al. 2020. Turbulent flow simulation plays a crucial role in various applications, including aircraft and ship design, industrial process optimization, and weather prediction. In this paper, we propose an advanced data-driven method for simulating turbulent flow, representing a significant improvement over existing approaches. Our methodology combines the strengths of Video Prediction Transformer (VPTR) (Ye & Bilodeau, 2022) and Multigrid Architecture (MgConv, MgResnet) (Ke et al., 2017). VPTR excels in capturing complex spatiotemporal dependencies and handling large input data, making it a promising choice for turbulent flow prediction. Meanwhile, Multigrid Architecture utilizes multiple grids with different resolutions to capture the multiscale nature of turbulent flows, resulting in more accurate and efficient simulations. Through our experiments, we demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed approach, named MGxTransformer, in accurately predicting velocity, temperature, and turbulence intensity for incompressible turbulent flows across various geometries and flow conditions. Our results exhibit superior accuracy compared to other baselines, while maintaining computational efficiency. Real-time noise regression algorithms are crucial for maximizing the science outcomes of the LIGO, Virgo, and KAGRA gravitational-wave detectors. This includes improvements in the detectability, source localization and pre-merger detectability of signals thereby enabling rapid multi-messenger follow-up. In this paper, we demonstrate the effectiveness of \textit{DeepClean}, a convolutional neural network architecture that uses witness sensors to estimate and subtract non-linear and non-stationary noise from gravitational-wave strain data. Our study uses LIGO data from the third observing run with injected compact binary signals. As a demonstration, we use \textit{DeepClean} to subtract the noise at 60 Hz due to the power mains and their sidebands arising from non-linear coupling with other instrumental noise sources. Our parameter estimation study on the injected signals shows that \textit{DeepClean} does not do any harm to the underlying astrophysical signals in the data while it can enhances the signal-to-noise ratio of potential signals. We show that \textit{DeepClean} can be used for low-latency noise regression to produce cleaned output data at latencies $\sim 1-2$\, s. We also discuss various considerations that may be made while training \textit{DeepClean} for low latency applications.

Using noisy crowdsourced labels from multiple annotators, a deep learning-based end-to-end (E2E) system aims to learn the label correction mechanism and the neural classifier simultaneously. To this end, many E2E systems concatenate the neural classifier with multiple annotator-specific ``label confusion'' layers and co-train the two parts in a parameter-coupled manner. The formulated coupled cross-entropy minimization (CCEM)-type criteria are intuitive and work well in practice. Nonetheless, theoretical understanding of the CCEM criterion has been limited. The contribution of this work is twofold: First, performance guarantees of the CCEM criterion are presented. Our analysis reveals for the first time that the CCEM can indeed correctly identify the annotators' confusion characteristics and the desired ``ground-truth'' neural classifier under realistic conditions, e.g., when only incomplete annotator labeling and finite samples are available. Second, based on the insights learned from our analysis, two regularized variants of the CCEM are proposed. The regularization terms provably enhance the identifiability of the target model parameters in various more challenging cases.
