Background: Patient satisfaction has played an important role in the development of health systems. However, the information on patient satisfaction and the returning of the patients for rehabilitation is limited. This study aims to explore the role of different domains in patient satisfaction with the willingness to return for further rehabilitation. Methods: The cross-sectional study was conducted among all 163 patients who were treated at different departments but needed a combination of treatment with rehabilitation at Viettiep hospital, Haiphong city. The Patient Satisfaction Index (PSI) Questionnaire was applied to record the average score of satisfaction. Multivariate logistic regression was used to determine the association between each domain of the PSI and the return for rehabilitation treatment. Results: Among the PSI scale, the strongest correlation was observed between the attitude of medical staff and the equipment and infrastructure of the hospital (r=0.305). The linear regression model indicated that patient satisfaction was associated significantly with the willingness to return for further rehabilitation (OR= 58.442). There were significant associations between the accessibility, equipment and infrastructure, quality of care and treatment, and cost of treatment with the returning for treatment of the patients. Conclusion: The patient satisfaction regarding individual domains should be considered in more detail in order to enhance the rehabilitation treatment of patients after discharging them from the hospital.

The aim of this study is to investigate the impact of foreign exchange reserves accumulation on the investment of companies in Vietnam. A detailed data of 332 firms listed on Hochiminh Stock Exchange is collected over the period from the first quarter of 2009 to the first quarter of 2019. Generalized Method of Moments (GMM) is employed to test the proposed hypotheses in this study. Estimation results reveal that great changes in foreign exchange reserves reduce corporate investment. Besides that, according to the growth stage of reserve accumulation, to some extent, foreign exchange reserve accumulation benefits domestic investment. However, when reserves increases tremendously, it may cause negative effect to investment. The study also investigates the impact of foreign exchange reserves on investment of companies in different industries. Empirical findings point out that for firms which are newly listed, young, small, and has low investment in fixed asset and low dividend payout ratio, the investment-cash flow sensitivity is very high. Changing in foreign exchange reserves does not greatly affect firm investment. In contrast, for enterprises which are long-established, large, and has high fixed asset value and high dividend payout ratio, the investment-cash flow sensitivity is lower. However, large change in the accumulation of reserves adversely affects firm investment. The empirical findings imply that government should be more cautious in managing foreign exchange reserves and firms should develop a plan to effectively manage their cash in order to lower borrowing costs as well as to less depend on external financing sources.

Breast cancer (BC) is the second incidence and the fifth leading cause to cancer death in the worldwide. In developing countries, the number of BC cases is still increased annually accompanied with the changes of lifestyle and screening programs. Nevertheless, the majority of BC patients are diagnosed as non-curative stage. Thereby, systemic therapy always plays an important role in BC treatment strategies. Among chemotherapy regimens, the combination of anthracyclin and taxane as an adjuvant treatment has been proven the efficacy and safety in terms of prolonging survival. In this study, we evaluated the incidence of chemotherapy-induced amenorrhea in breast cancer patients who were treated with adjuvant anthracycline and taxane-based chemotherapy.

In this paper, we investigate the relationship between the index of reducibility and Chern coefficients for primary ideals. As an application, we give characterizations of a Cohen–Macaulay ring in terms of its type, irreducible multiplicity, and Chern coefficients with respect to certain parameter ideals in Noetherian local rings.

The thesis investigates the impact of Confucian values on public managers’ paradoxical leadership and public service motivation under the constraints of political ideologies and organisational structures in Vietnam. Analyses of interview data with twenty managers and survey data with 206 manager-employee dyads show that Confucian values are positively related to paradoxical leadership which, in turn, facilitates public service motivation. Practically, the thesis recommends that in order to improve public institution effectiveness in Vietnam, leadership selection and development in public institutions should emphasize the dynamic effects of Confucian values, Capitalist and Socialist ideologies, and centralised structures.

Let G be a finite simple graph. A set S of vertices is a critical paired dominating set of G, if every vertex is adjacent to a vertex in S and the removal of any vertex does not change the matching number of G. In this paper, we give a characterization of graphs G which has a critical paired dominating set in terms of the irreducible decomposition of powers of the edge ideal associated to G.

Bochar from typical Vietnamese biomass residues (acacia wood chip, rice husk, bamboo) were assessed for application in remediation of metal-contaminated water. The biochar physical (e.g., surface area, morphology) and chemical (e.g. surface functional groups, proximate and elemental analysis) characteristics were correlated with their effectiveness in removing zinc (Zn2+). The impact of biochar dose, contact time, and initial adsorbate concentration were investigated to determine the adsorption capacity of the biochar for Zn2+. All three effectively remove Zn2+ from aqueous solution, with bamboo biochar especially efficient (removal of 96–98% Zn2+ from 40 to 80 mg/L). Maximum adsorptions were 7.62, 4.02, and 3.82 mg Zn2+/L for bamboo, wood, and rice husk biochar, respectively. The Freundlich model fit the adsorption of Zn2+, and a pseudo-second order model described the adsorption kinetics. Adsorption was governed by chelation with biochar organic groups (-COOH, -OH−) and precipitation onto inorganic groups (CO32−, PO42−), not ion exchange.

This study compares the physico-chemical characteristics of three different types of biochar produced from biomass residues in Vietnam as a basis for optimising their application in water purification and soil fertilisation. Wood biochar (WBC), rice husk biochar (RBC), and bamboo biochar (BBC) were produced under limited oxygen conditions using equipment available locally in Vietnam, known as a Top-Lid Updraft Drum (TLUD). The resulting biochars were characterised using a suite of state-of-the-art methods to understand their morphology, surface chemistry and cation exchange capacity. Surface areas (measured by BET) for WBC and BBC were 479.34 m2/g and 434.53 m2/g, respectively, significantly higher than that of RBC which was only 3.29 m2/g. The morphology as shown in SEM images corresponds with the BET surface area, showing a smooth surface for RBC, a hollow surface for BBC, and a rough surface for WBC. The State-Funded Landslide Project (SFLP) is a national program to systematically assess landslide susceptibility, hazard and risk for all of prone areas in Vietnam. Under this SFLP, in the first phase of SFLP (2012–2014), activities of landslide inventory mapping were implemented over the fourteen Northern mountainous provinces. As the achievements, 10,149 historic landslides were mapped by field surveys and 9405 locations with landslide signs were interpreted from air-photos and analysis of 3D relief. Approximately 83% of the surveyed landslides locate in accessible areas, with small and medium dimensions and partly as a result of the slope cuts. About 76% of the interpreted landslides locate in inaccessible areas, and only 24% of the interpreted locate in accessible areas, of which 65% were found active landslides at the time of surveying, naturally occurred with large dimensions. However, the inventory exposes some major drawbacks: (1) The unavailability of multi-date air-photos; (2) The lack of human resources with enough experiences in image interpretation; (3) The difficulties of verifying the interpreted landslides, especially for the inaccessible sites; (4) Few or no sources of historic information due to the isolated sites or little memory of small or medium size events; (5) No updates developed by the surveyors after they finished their tasks. Those drawbacks can lead to the insufficiency of adequate data on the types, sizes and characteristics of the slope failures, especially the exact dates of occurrences. Despite of those difficulties, the achieved inventory database have been updated and then used as basic input for the susceptibility and hazard mapping as well as preliminary results of SFLP to inform the local authorities and communities about real situations of landslides in their areas.

The challenges of householding across time and space inevitably strain marital roles and relationships, as well as providing temptations and opportunities for sexual infidelity, and is assumed to increase the propensity for marital breakdown. This paper raises questions about the assumed relationship between migration and marital disruption through qualitative evidence from Vietnam. We focus on 14 men and women migrants with disrupted marriages in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh. We explore their interpretations of the breakdown of their marriages and the role that migration played within this. Long-standing views in Vietnam prioritise the creation and sustaining of household-level social processes over and above couple’s intimacy and emotional relationship and these are highly resilient in the face of extended spousal separation. At the same time, though, some men and some women actively choose to disrupt their marriages where expectations about intimacy, fidelity, and obligations for provisioning and care were not met. We argue that migration plays into experiences of marital disruption in highly divergent ways and experiences of marital disruption and migration are more subtly gendered than is commonly portrayed. In doing so, we seek to contribute to both the literature on householding and to policy thinking about responses to migration.

Despite the ongoing centrality of marriage and reproduction in Vietnam, family and spousal separation is an increasing reality for many poor rural–urban migrants. We offer a social relational analysis of reproduction to explore how migrant men and women in their peak child-bearing and child-rearing years negotiate conjugal strategies and expectations. Labour migration for these poor men and women involves high costs for family relations, social identities and emotional experiences which are strongly patterned by gender. This social relational analysis of reproduction deepens analyses of changing marriage relations and studies of internal labour migration.

Objective To examine the association between gestational weight gain and maternal body mass index (BMI) among Vietnamese women and the risk of delivering an infant too small or too large for gestational age. Methods A prospective health-facility-based study of 2989 pregnant Vietnamese women was conducted in the city of Nha Trang in 2007–2008. Cubic logistic regression was used to investigate the association of interest. Infants were classified into weight-forgestational-age categories according to weight centiles for the Asian population. Gestational age was based on the date of last menstrual period and adjusted by the results of first-trimester ultrasound. Findings BMI was low (< 18.5), normal (18.5–22.9) and high (≥ 23.0) in 26.1%, 65.4% and 8.5% of the women, respectively. In each of these BMI categories, the percentage of women who delivered infants too small for gestational age was 18.1, 10.0 and 9.4, respectively, and the mean gestational weight gain was 12.5 kg (standard deviation, SD: ± 3.6), 12.2 kg (SD: ± 3.8) and 11.5 kg (SD: ± 4.7), respectively. Among women with low BMI, the risk of delivering an infant too small for gestational age ranged from approximately 40% if the gestational weight gain was < 5 kg to 20% if it was 5–10 kg. Conclusion Having a low BMI, commonly found in Viet Nam, puts women at risk of delivering an infant too small for gestational age, especially when total maternal gestational weight gain is < 10 kg.

Export led growth is the model of economic development that Vietnam has been following. While there are a great number of studies on the determinants of aggregate export of Vietnam, there are few that analyze the impacts of different factors on the export of different product groups. This paper aims at filling this gap in research on international trade of Vietnam. The results show that the fast GDP growth of Vietnam, the large population of importing countries, the wide economic gap between Vietnam and the importing countries, the depreciation of domestic currency, the free trade agreements that Vietnam signed and the shared border with the importing countries contribute to the increase of Vietnam’s export of all product groups. In contrast, the GDP of importing countries and population of Vietnam have no clear impacts on the export of any product groups.
