This paper presents the spherical lower dimensional representation for daily medium voltage load profiles, based on principal component analysis. The objective is to unify and simplify the tasks for (i) clustering visualisation, (ii) outlier detection and (iii) generative profile modelling under one concept. The lower dimensional projection of standardised load profiles unveils a latent distribution in a three-dimensional sphere. This spherical structure allows us to detect outliers by fitting probability distribution models in the spherical coordinate system, identifying measurements that deviate from the spherical shape. The same latent distribution exhibits an arc shape, suggesting an underlying order among load profiles. We develop a principal curve technique to uncover this order based on similarity, offering new advantages over conventional clustering techniques. This finding reveals that energy consumption in a wide region can be seen as a continuously changing process. Furthermore, we combined the principal curve with a von Mises-Fisher distribution to create a model capable of generating profiles with continuous mixtures between clusters. The presence of the spherical distribution is validated with data from four municipalities in the Netherlands. The uncovered spherical structure implies the possibility of employing new mathematical tools from directional statistics and differential geometry for load profile modelling.

Technical debt (TD) is a term used to describe the additional work and costs that emerge when developers have opted for a quick and easy solution to a problem, rather than a more effective and well-designed, but time-consuming approach. Self-Admitted Technical Debts (SATDs) are a specific type of technical debts that developers intentionally document and acknowledge, typically via textual comments. While these self-admitted comments are a useful tool for identifying technical debts, most of the existing approaches focus on capturing crucial tokens associated with various categories of TD, neglecting the rich information embedded within the source code itself. Recent research has focused on detecting SATDs by analyzing comments embedded in source code, and there has been little work dealing with technical debts contained in the source code. To fill such a gap, in this study, through the analysis of comments and their associated source code from 974 Java projects hosted in the Stack corpus, we curated the first ever dataset of TD identified by code comments, coupled with its associated source code. Through an empirical evaluation, we found out that the comments of the resulting dataset help enhance the prediction performance of state-of-the-art SATD detection models. More importantly, including the classified source code significantly improves the accuracy in predicting various types of technical debt. Building upon the groundwork of previous investigations, our study provides a concise overview of current Language Large Models (LLMs) applications in MDE, emphasizing their role in automating tasks like model repository classification and developing advanced recommender systems. The paper also outlines the technical considerations for seamlessly integrating LLMs in MDE, offering a practical guide for researchers and practitioners. Looking forward, the paper proposes a focused research agenda for the future interplay of LLMs and MDE, identifying key challenges and opportunities. This concise roadmap envisions the deployment of LLM techniques to enhance the management, exploration, and evolution of modeling ecosystems. The research on audio clue-based target speaker extraction (TSE) has mostly focused on modeling the mixture and reference speech, achieving high performance in English due to the availability of large datasets. However, less attention has been given to the consistent properties of human speech across languages. To bridge this gap, we introduce WHYV (Wanna Hear Your Voice), which addresses the challenge of transferring TSE models from one language to another without fine-tuning. In this work, we proposed a gating mechanism that be able to modify specific frequencies based on the speaker's acoustic features. The model achieves an SI-SDR of 17.3544 on clean English speech and 13.2032 on clean speech mixed with Wham! noise, outperforming all other models in its ability to adapt to different languages., Comment: Submitted to ICASSP 2025

GitHub provides developers with a practical way to distribute source code and collaboratively work on common projects. To enhance account security and privacy, GitHub allows its users to manage access permissions, review audit logs, and enable two-factor authentication. However, despite the endless effort, the platform still faces various issues related to the privacy of its users. This paper presents an empirical study delving into the GitHub ecosystem. Our focus is on investigating the utilization of privacy settings on the platform and identifying various types of sensitive information disclosed by users. Leveraging a dataset comprising 6,132 developers, we report and analyze their activities by means of comments on pull requests. Our findings indicate an active engagement by users with the available privacy settings on GitHub. Notably, we observe the disclosure of different forms of private information within pull request comments. This observation has prompted our exploration into sensitivity detection using a large language model and BERT, to pave the way for a personalized privacy assistant. Our work provides insights into the utilization of existing privacy protection tools, such as privacy settings, along with their inherent limitations. Venous thromboembolism (VTE) is a critical cardiovascular condition, encompassing deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE). Accurate and timely identification of VTE is essential for effective medical care. This study builds upon our previous work, which addressed VTE detection using deep learning methods for DVT and a hybrid approach combining deep learning and rule-based classification for PE. Our earlier approaches, while effective, had two major limitations: they were complex and required expert involvement for feature engineering of the rule set. To overcome these challenges, we utilize the Mamba architecture-based classifier. This model achieves remarkable results, with a 97\% accuracy and F1 score on the DVT dataset and a 98\% accuracy and F1 score on the PE dataset. In contrast to the previous hybrid method on PE identification, the Mamba classifier eliminates the need for hand-engineered rules, significantly reducing model complexity while maintaining comparable performance. Additionally, we evaluated a lightweight Large Language Model (LLM), Phi-3 Mini, in detecting VTE. While this model delivers competitive results, outperforming the baseline BERT models, it proves to be computationally intensive due to its larger parameter set. Our evaluation shows that the Mamba-based model demonstrates superior performance and efficiency in VTE identification, offering an effective solution to the limitations of previous approaches.

Distributional drift detection is important in medical applications as it helps ensure the accuracy and reliability of models by identifying changes in the underlying data distribution that could affect diagnostic or treatment decisions. However, current methods have limitations in detecting drift; for example, the inclusion of abnormal datasets can lead to unfair comparisons. This paper presents an accurate and sensitive approach to detect distributional drift in CT-scan medical images by leveraging data-sketching and fine-tuning techniques. We developed a robust baseline library model for real-time anomaly detection, allowing for efficient comparison of incoming images and identification of anomalies. Additionally, we fine-tuned a vision transformer pre-trained model to extract relevant features using breast cancer images as an example, significantly enhancing model accuracy to 99.11\%. Combining with data-sketches and fine-tuning, our feature extraction evaluation demonstrated that cosine similarity scores between similar datasets provide greater improvements, from around 50\% increased to 100\%. Finally, the sensitivity evaluation shows that our solutions are highly sensitive to even 1\% salt-and-pepper and speckle noise, and it is not sensitive to lighting noise (e.g., lighting conditions have no impact on data drift). The proposed methods offer a scalable and reliable solution for maintaining the accuracy of diagnostic models in dynamic clinical environments.

In the GitHub ecosystem, workflows are used as an effective means to automate development tasks and to set up a Continuous Integration and Delivery (CI/CD pipeline). GitHub Actions (GHA) have been conceived to provide developers with a practical tool to create and maintain workflows, avoiding reinventing the wheel and cluttering the workflow with shell commands. Properly leveraging the power of GitHub Actions can facilitate the development processes, enhance collaboration, and significantly impact project outcomes. To expose actions to search engines, GitHub allows developers to assign them to one or more categories manually. These are used as an effective means to group actions sharing similar functionality. Nevertheless, while providing a practical way to execute workflows, many actions have unclear purposes, and sometimes they are not categorized. In this work, we bridge such a gap by conceptualizing Gavel, a practical solution to increasing the visibility of actions in GitHub. By leveraging the content of README.MD files for each action, we use Transformer--a deep learning algorithm--to assign suitable categories to the action. We conducted an empirical investigation and compared Gavel with a state-of-the-art baseline. Stack Overflow is a prominent Q and A forum, supporting developers in seeking suitable resources on programming-related matters. Having high-quality question titles is an effective means to attract developers' attention. Unfortunately, this is often underestimated, leaving room for improvement. Research has been conducted, predominantly leveraging pre-trained models to generate titles from code snippets and problem descriptions. Yet, getting high-quality titles is still a challenging task, attributed to both the quality of the input data (e.g., containing noise and ambiguity) and inherent constraints in sequence generation models. In this paper, we present FILLER as a solution to generating Stack Overflow post titles using a fine-tuned language model with self-improvement and post ranking. Our study focuses on enhancing pre-trained language models for generating titles for Stack Overflow posts, employing a training and subsequent fine-tuning paradigm for these models. To this end, we integrate the model's predictions into the training process, enabling it to learn from its errors, thereby lessening the effects of exposure bias. Moreover, we apply a post-ranking method to produce a variety of sample candidates, subsequently selecting the most suitable one. To evaluate FILLER, we perform experiments using benchmark datasets, and the empirical findings indicate that our model provides high-quality recommendations. Moreover, it significantly outperforms all the baselines, including Code2Que, SOTitle, CCBERT, M3NSCT5, and GPT3.5-turbo. The entropy error function has been widely used in neural networks. Nevertheless, the network training based on this error function generally leads to a slow convergence rate, and can easily be trapped in a local minimum or even with the incorrect saturation problem in practice. In fact, there are many results based on entropy error function in neural network and its applications. However, the theory of such an algorithm and its convergence have not been fully studied so far. To tackle the issue, we propose a novel entropy function with smoothing l0 regularization for feed-forward neural networks. Using real-world datasets, we performed an empirical evaluation to demonstrate that the newly conceived algorithm allows us to substantially improve the prediction performance of the considered neural networks. More importantly, the experimental results also show that our proposed function brings in more precise classifications, compared to well-founded baselines. Our work is novel as it enables neural networks to learn effectively, producing more accurate predictions compared to state-of-the-art algorithms. Code comments play a crucial role in software development, as they provide programmers with practical information, allowing them to understand better the intent and semantics of the underpinning code. Nevertheless, developers tend to leave comments unchanged after updating the code, resulting in a discrepancy between the two artifacts. Such a discrepancy may trigger misunderstanding and confusion among developers, impeding various activities, including code comprehension and maintenance. Thus, it is crucial to identify if, given a code snippet, its corresponding comment is coherent and reflects well the intent behind the code. Unfortunately, existing approaches to this problem, while obtaining an encouraging performance, either rely on heavily pre-trained models, or treat input data as text, neglecting the intrinsic features contained in comments and code, including word order and synonyms. This work presents Co3D as a practical approach to the detection of code comment coherence. We pay attention to internal meaning of words and sequential order of words in text while predicting coherence in code-comment pairs. We deployed a combination of Gensim word2vec encoding and a simple recurrent neural network, a combination of Gensim word2vec encoding and an LSTM model, and CodeBERT. The experimental results show that Co3D obtains a promising prediction performance, thus outperforming well-established baselines. Software engineering (SE) activities have been revolutionized by the advent of pre-trained models (PTMs), defined as large machine learning (ML) models that can be fine-tuned to perform specific SE tasks. However, users with limited expertise may need help to select the appropriate model for their current task. To tackle the issue, the Hugging Face (HF) platform simplifies the use of PTMs by collecting, storing, and curating several models. Nevertheless, the platform currently lacks a comprehensive categorization of PTMs designed specifically for SE, i.e., the existing tags are more suited to generic ML categories. This paper introduces an approach to address this gap by enabling the automatic classification of PTMs for SE tasks. First, we utilize a public dump of HF to extract PTMs information, including model documentation and associated tags. Then, we employ a semi-automated method to identify SE tasks and their corresponding PTMs from existing literature. The approach involves creating an initial mapping between HF tags and specific SE tasks, using a similarity-based strategy to identify PTMs with relevant tags. The evaluation shows that model cards are informative enough to classify PTMs considering the pipeline tag. In today's rapidly evolving landscape of Artificial Intelligence, large language models (LLMs) have emerged as a vibrant research topic. LLMs find applications in various fields and contribute significantly. Despite their powerful language capabilities, similar to pre-trained language models (PLMs), LLMs still face challenges in remembering events, incorporating new information, and addressing domain-specific issues or hallucinations. To overcome these limitations, researchers have proposed Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) techniques, some others have proposed the integration of LLMs with Knowledge Graphs (KGs) to provide factual context, thereby improving performance and delivering more accurate feedback to user queries. Education plays a crucial role in human development and progress. With the technology transformation, traditional education is being replaced by digital or blended education. Therefore, educational data in the digital environment is increasing day by day. Data in higher education institutions are diverse, comprising various sources such as unstructured/structured text, relational databases, web/app-based API access, etc. Constructing a Knowledge Graph from these cross-data sources is not a simple task. This paper addresses the inverse scattering problem in the domain Omega. The input data, measured outside Omega, involve the waves generated by the interaction of plane waves with various directions and unknown scatterers fully occluded inside Omega. The output of this problem is the spatially dielectric constant of these scatterers. Our approach to solving this problem consists of two primary stages. Initially, we eliminate the unknown dielectric constant from the governing equation, resulting in a system of partial differential equations. Subsequently, we develop the Carleman contraction mapping method to effectively tackle this system. It is noteworthy to highlight this method's robustness. It does not request a precise initial guess of the true solution, and its computational cost is not expensive. Some numerical examples are presented.

This paper presents a simple yet efficient ensemble learning framework for Vietnamese scene text spotting. Leveraging the power of ensemble learning, which combines multiple models to yield more accurate predictions, our approach aims to significantly enhance the performance of scene text spotting in challenging urban settings. Through experimental evaluations on the VinText dataset, our proposed method achieves a significant improvement in accuracy compared to existing methods with an impressive accuracy of 5%. These results unequivocally demonstrate the efficacy of ensemble learning in the context of Vietnamese scene text spotting in urban environments, highlighting its potential for real world applications, such as text detection and recognition in urban signage, advertisements, and various text-rich urban scenes., Comment: RIVF 2023

We present a detailed study of the dielectric response of ZnO using a combination of low-loss momentum-resolved electron energy-loss spectroscopy (EELS) and first-principles calculations at several levels of theory, from the independent particle and the random phase approximation with different variants of density functional theory (DFT), including hybrid and DFT$+U$ schemes; to the Bethe-Salpeter equation (BSE). We use a method based on the $f$-sum rule to obtain the momentum-resolved experimental loss function and absorption spectra from EELS measurements. We characterize the main features in the direct and inverse dielectric functions of ZnO and their dispersion, associating them to single-particle features in the electronic band structure, while highlighting the important role of many-body effects such as plasmons and excitons. Open-source development has revolutionized the software industry by promoting collaboration, transparency, and community-driven innovation. Today, a vast amount of various kinds of open-source software, which form networks of repositories, is often hosted on GitHub - a popular software development platform. To enhance the discoverability of the repository networks, i.e., groups of similar repositories, GitHub introduced repository topics in 2017 that enable users to more easily explore relevant projects by type, technology, and more. It is thus crucial to accurately assign topics for each GitHub repository. Current methods for automatic topic recommendation rely heavily on TF-IDF for encoding textual data, presenting challenges in understanding semantic nuances. This paper addresses the limitations of existing techniques by proposing Legion, a novel approach that leverages Pre-trained Language Models (PTMs) for recommending topics for GitHub repositories. The key novelty of Legion is three-fold. First, Legion leverages the extensive capabilities of PTMs in language understanding to capture contextual information and semantic meaning in GitHub repositories. Second, Legion overcomes the challenge of long-tailed distribution, which results in a bias toward popular topics in PTMs, by proposing a Distribution-Balanced Loss (DB Loss) to better train the PTMs. Third, Legion employs a filter to eliminate vague recommendations, thereby improving the precision of PTMs. Our empirical evaluation on a benchmark dataset of real-world GitHub repositories shows that Legion can improve vanilla PTMs by up to 26% on recommending GitHubs topics. Legion also can suggest GitHub topics more precisely and effectively than the state-of-the-art baseline with an average improvement of 20% and 5% in terms of Precision and F1-score, respectively., Comment: Accepted to EASE'24

In this paper, we present two multidimensional power flow formulations based on a fixed-point iteration (FPI) algorithm to efficiently solve hundreds of thousands of power flows in distribution systems. The presented algorithms are the base for a new TensorPowerFlow (TPF) tool and shine for their simplicity, benefiting from multicore \gls{cpu} and \gls{gpu} parallelization. We also focus on the mathematical convergence properties of the algorithm, showing that its unique solution is at the practical operational point, which is the solution of high-voltage and low-current. The proof is validated using numerical simulations showing the robustness of the FPI algorithm compared to the classical \gls{nr} approach. In the case study, a benchmark with different PF solution methods is performed, showing that for applications requiring a yearly simulation at 1-minute resolution the computation time is decreased by a factor of 164, compared to the NR in its sparse formulation.
