A new find of the blue tilapia Oreochromis aureus (Steindachner, 1864) from the Volga River, in the area of the Kostroma State District Power Station (57°28′02″ N, 41°11′06″ E), is described. Data on morphology and nucleotide diversity (COI, 16S and 18 loci) for O. aureus are given. It is assumed that the vector of invasion is associated with human activity. Existence of Penicillus capitatus Lamarck 1813 has been known along the southern coastline of Turkey since 2010. On the other hand, no record of P. capitatus off the northern Aegean coastline of Turkey has so far been reported. The present paper reports the observation of P. capitatus in the coastline of Dikili, north of the Aegean shores of Turkey. In conclusion, it seems that the physicochemical parameters of the Aegean Sea are very suitable for P. capitatus and therefore, its observation in all locations of the Aegean Sea is most likely to be expected. Important findings from the second decade of the 21st century on the impact of environmental change on biological processes in the Antarctic were synthesised by 26 international experts. Ten key messages emerged that have stakeholder‐relevance and/or a high impact for the scientific community. They address (i) altered biogeochemical cycles, (ii) ocean acidification, (iii) climate change hotspots, (iv) unexpected dynamism in seabed‐dwelling populations, (v) spatial range shifts, (vi) adaptation and thermal resilience, (vii) sea ice related biological fluctuations, (viii) pollution, (ix) endangered terrestrial endemism and (x) the discovery of unknown habitats. Most Antarctic biotas are exposed to multiple stresses and considered vulnerable to environmental change due to narrow tolerance ranges, rapid change, projected circumpolar impacts, low potential for timely genetic adaptation, and migration barriers. Important ecosystem functions, such as primary production and energy transfer between trophic levels, have already changed, and biodiversity patterns have shifted. A confidence assessment of the degree of 'scientific understanding' revealed an intermediate level for most of the more detailed sub‐messages, indicating that process‐oriented research has been successful in the past decade. Additional efforts are necessary, however, to achieve the level of robustness in scientific knowledge that is required to inform protection measures of the unique Antarctic terrestrial and marine ecosystems, and their contributions to global biodiversity and ecosystem services. A new finding of Thermocyclops taihokuensis (Harada, 1931) in European Russia is described. In October 2019, the East Asian copepod T. taihokuensis (Harada, 1931) was first recorded in the Shat Reservoir (54° N, 38° E) of the Oka River system. The Oka River is the right-bank tributary to the Volga River. The population of T. taihokuensis exceeded 100 000 ind./m3. The species actively reproduced at a water temperature of 13°C, sexually mature females with eggs in egg pouches accounted for 45% of their total number, and fecundity reached 17 ± 1 eggs per female. The Shat Reservoir is the westernmost habitat of the species in European Russia. It is assumed that the probability of further expansion of this species downstream the Oka River into the reservoirs of the midstream and downstream Volga is high. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The results of the studies on macrozoobenthos in the Upper Volga reservoirs in 2009–2015 are presented. New habitats of alien species Lithoglyphus naticoides, Quistadrilus multisetosus, and Archaeobdella esmonti have been found. The dynamics of distribution and abundance of these invaders in the Volga reservoirs has been monitored. The mollusk of the genus Corbicula has been found in the Gorky Reservoir for the first time. A species of Caspian fauna, leech Archaeobdella esmonti, introduced earlier into most reservoirs of the Volga cascade, was recorded for the first time in the Uglich Reservoir in summer 2017. In 2009, A. esmonti was first detected in the Rybinsk Reservoir, where it was successfully established by 2015, and its occurrence frequency increased to 50%. Invasive mollusk of genus Corbicula, a new species for the Volga River basin, has been found in the Gorky Reservoir in the zone of exposure to the heated waters of the cooler pond of the Kostromskaya thermal electric power station. According to the morphological features and nucleotide sequences of the mitochondrial cytochrome c-oxidase I (COI) gene fragment, the mollusks have been identified as Corbicula fluminea (Müller, 1774). This article presents data on long-term colonization of goosander in Western Serbia and Eastern Republic of Srpska (on five oligotrophic reservoirs formed by the Drina River) based on continuous counting since the first observation of nesting in 1987. The total number of breeding pairs and their distribution in neighboring habitats continuously increased from year to year, suggesting that expansion of the population is still below the limit of the habitat. The decrease in population which occurred in certain years was due to environmental or anthropogenic influence.

The condition of cenopopulations of the relict of nemoral (Pliocene) flora Menispermum dauricum DC. is considered. Three new habitats of the species are found in Western Transbaikalia. It is shown that, although the species is an ecotopic patient, local cenopopulations on mountain-steppe slopes are influenced by destructive exogenous geomorphological processes.
