The Planck's radiation law for the blackbody radiation spectrum was capable to explain the experimentally-measured blackbody spectrum. In order to get this result, Planck proposed his radiation law in a two-fold way: 1) by an \textit{ad hoc} modification of the assumed connection between energy and entropy for thermal radiation; 2) by assuming that the calculation of the entropy of an oscillator in thermal equilibrium with radiation is carried out by discrete units of energy. As a consequence, the energy quantization, linear in frequency, was thus introduced into physics. However, the energy quantization of the simple harmonic oscillator was originally postulated by Planck in an incomplete way, i.e., the ground state energy was not assumed to be null. Of course, this issue has been solved in different ways over time. Despite of this, we propose an alternative way to fix this issue by describing harmonic oscillators at noncommutative(NC) framework, where the non-null ground state energy naturally arises as a NC contribution. With this approach, the Planck's quantum theory is updated and, consequently, becomes compatible with the quantum mechanics inaugurated in 1925.

A noncommutative(NC) version for a global $O(N)$ scalar field theory is proposed and an alternative investigation about how noncommutative drives spontaneous symmetry breaking (SSB) is explored. Indeed, we show that the noncommutativity plays an important role in such mechanism, i.e., it is possible to show that there is a Higgs group with no more than two Higgs bosons. We propose a noncommutative (NC) version for a global O(2) scalar field theory, whose damping feature is introduced into the scalar field theory through the NC parameter. In this context, we investigate how noncommutative drives spontaneous symmetry breaking (SSB) and Higgs-Kibble mechanisms and how the damping feature workout. Indeed, we show that the noncommutativity plays an important role in such mechanisms, i.e., the Higgs mass and VEV dependent on NC parameter. After that, it is explored the consequences of noncommutativity dependence of Higgs mass and VEV: for the first, it is shown that there are a mass-degenerate Higgs bosons near 126.5 GeV, parametrized by the noncommutativity; for the second, the gauge fields gain masses that present a noncommutativity contribution., Comment: 13 pages, 2 figures

In this work we will investigate how the non-commutativity arises into the string theory, \textit{i.e.}, how the bosonic string theory attaches to a D3-brane in the presence of magnetic fields. In order to accomplish the proposal, we departure from the commutative two-dimensional harmonic oscillator, which after the application of the general Bopp's shifts Matrix Method, the non-commutative version of the two-dimensional harmonic oscillator is obtained. After that, this non-commutative harmonic oscillator will be mapped into the bosonic string theory in the light cone frame, which it now appears as a bosonic string theory attached to a D3-brane.

The Bopp's shifts will be generalized through symplectic formalism. A special procedure, like a "diagonalization", which drives the completely deformed symplectic matrix to the standard symplectic form was found as suggested by Faddeev-Jackiw. Consequently, the correspondent transformation matrix guides the mapping from commutative to noncommutative (NC) phase-space coordinates. The Bopp's shifts may be directly generalized from this mapping. In this context, all the NC and scale parameters, introduced into the brackets, will be lifted to the Hamiltonian. Well known results, obtained using $\star$-product, will be reproduced without to consider that the NC parameters are small$(<<1)$. Besides, it will be shown that different choices for NC algebra among the symplectic variables generates distinct dynamical systems, which they may not even connect with each other, and that some of them can preserve, break or restore the symmetry of the system. In the present work, we study the noncommutative version of a quantum cosmology model. The model has a Friedmann-Robertson-Walker geometry, the matter content is a radiative perfect fluid and the spatial sections have positive constant curvatures. We work in the Schutz's variational formalism. We quantize the model and obtain the appropriate Wheeler-DeWitt equation. In this model the states are bounded. Therefore, we compute the discrete energy spectrum and the corresponding eigenfunctions. The energies depend on a noncommutative parameter ($\theta$). The solutions to the Wheeler-DeWitt equation are function of the scale factor ($a$) and a time variable ($\tau$), associated to the fluid. They also depend on an integer ($n$) and $\theta$. The most general solution ($\Psi(a,\tau)$) to the Wheeler-DeWitt equation is a sum, in the integer $n$, of the solutions mentioned above. We observe that, there is no $\Psi(a,\tau)$ satisfying the appropriate boundary conditions. Therefore, we conclude that it is not possible to obtain a wavefunction satisfying the appropriate boundary conditions for the present model with the considered noncommutativity., Comment: 7 pages and no figures. The concept of gauge invariance is one of the most subtle and useful concepts in modern theoretical physics. It is one of the Standard Model cornerstones. The main benefit due to the gauge invariance is that it can permit the comprehension of difficult systems in physics with an arbitrary choice of a reference frame at every instant of time. It is the objective of this work to show a path of obtaining gauge invariant theories from non-invariant ones. Both are named also as first- and second-class theories respectively, obeying Dirac's formalism. Namely, it is very important to understand why it is always desirable to have a bridge between gauge invariant and non-invariant theories. Once established, this kind of mapping between first-class (gauge invariant) and second-class systems, in Dirac's formalism can be considered as a sort of equivalence. This work describe this kind of equivalence obtaining a gauge invariant theory starting with a non-invariant one using the symplectic embedding formalism developed by some of us some years back. To illustrate the procedure it was analyzed both Abelian and non-Abelian theories. It was demonstrated that this method is more convenient than others. We study a classical, noncommutative (NC), Friedmann-Robertson-Walker cosmological model. The spatial sections may have positive, negative or zero constant curvatures. The matter content is a generic perfect fluid. The initial noncommutativity between some canonical variables is rewritten, such that, we end up with commutative variables and a NC parameter. Initially, we derive the scale factor dynamic equations for the general situation, without specifying the perfect fluid or the curvature of the spatial sections. Next, we consider two concrete situations: a radiation perfect fluid and dust. We study all possible scale factor behaviors, for both cases. We compare them with the corresponding commutative cases and one with the other. We obtain, some cases, where the NC model predicts a scale factor expansion which may describe the present expansion of our Universe. Those cases are not present in the corresponding commutative models. Finally, we compare our model with another NC model, where the noncommutativity is between different canonical variables. In the present work, we study the quantum cosmology description of a Friedmann-Robertson-Walker model in the presence of a stiff matter perfect fluid and a negative cosmological constant. We work in the Schutz's variational formalism and the spatial sections have constant negative curvature. We quantize the model and obtain the appropriate Wheeler-DeWitt equation. In this model the states are bounded therefore we compute the discrete energy spectrum and the corresponding eigenfunctions. In the present work, we consider only the negative eigenvalues and their corresponding eigenfunctions. This choice implies that the energy density of the perfect fluid is negative. A stiff matter perfect fluid with this property produces a model with a bouncing solution, at the classical level, free from an initial singularity. After that, we use the eigenfunctions in order to construct wave packets and evaluate the time-dependent expectation value of the scale factor. We find that it oscillates between maximum and minimum values. Since the expectation value of the scale factor never vanishes, we confirm that this model is free from an initial singularity, also, at the quantum level., Comment: 12 Pages, 4 Figures. In this work we use the well known formalism developed by Faddeev and Jackiw to introduce noncommutativity within two nonlinear systems, the SU(2) Skyrme and O(3) nonlinear sigma models. The final result is the Lagrangian formulations for the noncommutative versions of both models. In the present work we consider Friedmann-Robertson-Walker models in the presence of a stiff matter perfect fluid and a cosmological constant. We write the superhamiltonian of these models using the Schutz's variational formalism. In the present letter, we consider the DeBroglie-Bohm interpretation of quantum Friedmann-Robertson-Walker models in the presence of a negative cosmological constant and cosmic strings. We compute the Bohm's trajectories and quantum potentials for a quantity related to the scale factor. The concept of gauge invariance can be considered one of the most subtle and useful concept in theoretical physics since it can permit the comprehension of difficult systems in physics with an arbitrary choice of a reference frame at every instant of time. It is always desirable to have a bridge between gauge invariant and noninvariant theories. Once established, this kind of mapping between first-class (gauge invariant) and second-class systems, in Dirac's formalism can be considered as a sort of duality. In this paper we investigate this "duality" obtaining a gauge invariant theory starting with a noninvariant one. We analyzed both Abelian and non-Abelian theories and the procedure used is the recent dual (also called symplectic) embedding formalism. We believe that this method is the most convenient one since it is not plagued by the ambiguity problems that torments BFFT and other iterative methods. We demonstrated exactly that this "dualization" method used here does not require any special modification to handle with non-Abelian systems, which is also a new result described in this paper. To prove the gauge invariance we used just the Dirac constraint technique. It is relevant to say here that, although this work is lengthy, the majority of the results presented here are new in the literature. In this work we have shown that it is possible to construct non-Abelian field theories employing, in a systematic way, the Faddeev-Jackiw symplectic formalism. This approach follows two steps. In the first step, the original Abelian fields are modified in order to introduce the non-Abelian algebra. After that, the Faddeev-Jackiw method is implemented and the gauge symmetry relative to some non-Abelian symmetry group, is introduced through the zero-mode of the symplectic matrix. We construct the SU(2) and SU(2)xU(1) Yang-Mills theories having as starting point the U(1) Maxwell electromagnetic theory., Comment: 6 pages. Revtex 4.1

The quantization of the chiral Schwinger model $(\chi QED_{2})$ with one-parameter class Faddeevian regularization is hampered by the chiral anomaly, i.e., the Gauss law commutator exhibits Faddeev's anomaly. To overcome this kind of problem, we propose to eliminate this anomaly by embedding the theory through a new gauge-invariant formalism based on the enlargement of the phase space with the introduction of Wess-Zumino(WZ) fields and the symplectic approach. This process opens up a possibility to formulate different, but dynamically equivalent, gauge invariant versions for the model and also gives a geometrical interpretation to the arbitrariness presents on the BFFT and iterative conversion methods. In the present work, we study the quantum cosmology description of closed Friedmann-Robertson-Walker models in the presence of a positive cosmological constant and a generic perfect fluid. We work in the Schutz's variational formalism. If one uses the scale factor and its canonically conjugated momentum as the phase space variables that describe the geometrical sector of these models, one obtains Wheeler-DeWitt equations with operator ordering ambiguities. In order to avoid those ambiguities and simplify the quantum treatment of the models, we introduce new phase space variables. We explicitly demonstrate that the transformation leading from the old set of variables to the new one is canonical. In order to show that the above canonical transformations simplify the quantum treatment of those models, we consider a particular model where the perfect fluid is dust. We solve the Wheeler-DeWitt equation numerically using the Crank-Nicholson scheme and determine the time evolution of the initial wave function. We find the dual equivalent (gauge invariant) version of the Maxwell theory in D=4 with a Proca-like mass term by using the symplectic embedding method. The dual theory obtained (Maxwell-Podolsky) includes a higher-order derivative term and preserve the gauge symmetry. To study noncommutativity properties of the open string with constant B-field we construct a mechanical action which reproduces classical dynamics of the string sector under consideration. It allows one to apply the Dirac quantization procedure for constrained systems in a direct and unambiguous way. The mechanical action turns out to be the first order system without taking the strong field limit $B\longrightarrow\infty$. In particular, it is true for zero mode of the string coordinate which means that the noncommutativity is intrinsic property of this mechanical system. We describe the arbitrariness in the relation existent between the mechanical and the string variables and show that noncommutativity of the string variables on the boundary can be removed. It is in correspondence with the result of Seiberg and Witten on relation among noncommutative and ordinary Yang-Mills theories. Improving the beginning steps of a previous work, we settle the dual embedding method (DEM) as an alternative and efficient method for obtaining dual equivalent actions also in D=3. We show that we can obtain dual equivalent actions which were previously obtained in the literature using the gauging iterative Noether dualization method (NDM). We believe that, with the arbitrariness property of the zero mode, the DEM is more profound since it can reveal a whole family of dual equivalent actions. After a review of our previous work, we obtain the dual equivalent theory of the self-dual model minimally coupled to U(1) charged bosonic matter. The result confirms the one obtained previously which is important since it has the same structure that appears in the Abelian Higgs model with an anomalous magnetic interaction., Comment: 10 pages. In this work we show that we can obtain dual equivalent actions following the symplectic formalism with the introduction of extra variables which enlarge the phase space. We show that the results are equal as the one obtained with the recently developed gauging iterative Noether dualization method (NDM). We construct a supersymmetrized version of the model to the radiation damping \cite{03} introduced by the present authors \cite{ACWF}. We dicuss its symmetries and the corresponding conserved Noether charges. It is shown this supersymmetric version provides a supersymmetric generalization of the Galilei algebra obtained in \cite{ACWF}. In this paper we define a noncommutative (NC) Metafluid Dynamics \cite{Marmanis}. We applied the Dirac's quantization to the Metafluid Dynamics on NC spaces. First class constraints were found which are the same obtained in \cite{BJP}. The gauge covariant quantization of the non-linear equations of fields on noncommutative spaces were studied. We have found the extended Hamiltonian which leads to equations of motion in the gauge covariant form. In addition, we show that a particular transformation \cite{Djemai} on the usual classical phase space (CPS) leads to the same results as of the $\star$-deformation with $\nu=0$. Besides, we will shown that an additional term is introduced into the dissipative force due the NC geometry. Inspired in some works about quantization of dissipative systems, in particular of the damped harmonic oscillator\cite{MB,RB,12}, we consider the dissipative system of a charge interacting with its own radiation, which originates the radiation damping (RD). Using the indirect Lagrangian representation we obtained a Lagrangian formalism with a Chern-Simons-like term. We show that the massive noncommutative U(1) theory is embedded in a gauge theory using an alternative systematic way, which is based on the symplectic framework. We propose a new procedure to embed second class systems by introducing Wess-Zumino (WZ) fields in order to unveil hidden symmetries existent in the models. This formalism is based on the direct imposition that the new Hamiltonian must be invariant by gauge-symmetry transformations. An interesting feature in this approach is the possibility to find a representation for the WZ fields in a convenient way, which leads to preserve the gauge symmetry in the original phase space. Consequently, the gauge-invariant Hamiltonian can be written only in terms of the original phase-space variables. In this situation, the WZ variables are only auxiliary tools that permit to reveal the hidden symmetries present in the original second class model. We apply this formalism to important physical models: the reduced-SU(2) Skyrme model, the Chern-Simons-Proca quantum mechanics and the chiral bosons field theory. In this paper, the analog of Maxwell electromagnetism for hydrodynamic turbulence, the metafluid dynamics, is extended in order to reformulate the metafluid dynamics as a gauge field theory. That analogy opens up the possibility to investigate this theory as a constrained system. Having this possibility in mind, we propose a Lagrangian to describe this new theory of turbulence and, subsequently, analyze it from the symplectic point of view. From this analysis, a hidden gauge symmetry is revealed, providing a clear interpretation and meaning of the physics behind the metafluid theory. A connection between solutions of the relativistic d-brane system in (d+1) dimensions with the solutions of a Galileo invariant fluid in d-dimensions is by now well established. However, the physical nature of the light-cone gauge description of a relativistic membrane changes after the reduction to the fluid dynamical model since the gauge symmetry is lost. In this work we argue that the original gauge symmetry present in a relativistic d-brane system can be recovered after the reduction process to a d-dimensional fluid model. To this end we propose, without introducing Wess-Zumino fields, a gauge invariant theory of isentropic fluid dynamics and show that this symmetry corresponds to the invariance under local translation of the velocity potential in the fluid dynamics picture. The SU(2) collective coordinates expansion of the Born-Infeld\break Skyrmion Lagrangian is performed. The classical Hamiltonian is computed from this special Lagrangian in approximative way: it is derived from the expansion of this non-polynomial Lagrangian up to second-order variable in the collective coordinates. This second-class constrained model is quantized by Dirac Hamiltonian method and symplectic formalism. Although it is not expected to find symmetries on second-class systems, a hidden symmetry is disclosed by formulating the Born-Infeld Skyrmion %model as a gauge theory. To this end we developed a new constraint conversion technique based on the symplectic formalism.
