Abstract

Cryogenic technique recovers gases inexpensively. Method uses differences in vapor pressures, melting points, and boiling points of components in gaseous mixture. Series of temperature and pressure variations converts gases independently to solid and liquid states, thereby simplifying separation. Apparatus uses readily available cryogen and does not require expensive refrigeration equipment.

Abstract

Measurements of neutron elastic and inelastic scattering and gamma- ray production have been made on several elements with 9.0 and 11.0 MeV incident neutrons. Differential cross sections for N, O, Al, Si, Ca, and Fe are presented and integral cross sections derived from the data are also given.

Abstract

Experimental measurements of the differential cross sections for the production of gamma rays in natural silicon and tungsten in the energy range from 5.0 to 11.0 MeV are presented. Theoretical calculations of the production cross sections for silicon, based on statistical theory and the Satchler formalism, with modifications by Moldauer, have been made, and comparisons of these calculations and other nuclear model calculations with experiment are discussed.
