Mandibular dentures are considered dubious in terms of retention in resorbed ridges. Implant bearing overdentures can be a solution to the abovesaid issue. Various attachments in use offer variations in retention and maintenance. The aim was to assess long term durability and retention of implant supported overdenture attachments. Context: In contemporary prosthodontics, implant-supported dental prostheses are frequently utilized to restore function and esthetics for individuals who are edentulous. The prosthetic material selection has a big impact on long-term performance and maintenance needs. Methods: A retrospective review of patient files from the dental implant clinic of a tertiary care facility was done. Included were patients who had dental prosthesis supported by implants between January 2018 and December 2022. Data were gathered and examined on the prosthesis material, follow-up visits, and maintenance interventions (adjustments, repairs, and replacements). Results: Materials for 50 prostheses made of porcelain, 45 prostheses made of acrylic, 35 prostheses made of metal, and 40 prostheses made of composite were assessed. When it came to modifications and repairs, porcelain prosthesis needed less work than acrylic prostheses. Composite prostheses required the least amount of maintenance overall, whereas metal prostheses indicated a considerable demand for maintenance. Conclusion: Superior durability is provided by porcelain, frequent repairs are needed for acrylic, structural strength is provided by metal, and composite material gives promising esthetics with low maintenance requirements. These results highlight how crucial it is to take material properties into account when choosing a prosthesis to maximize long-term results and patient happiness.

Objective: This study assessed Nipah virus (NiV) encephalitis epidemiology, clinical outcomes, and risk variables to inform treatment and prevention. Methodology: In a PubMed systematic search, 929 citations were found. After screening and eligibility, 22 studies were included. This study obtained age, gender, geographic regions, diagnostic methods, data collection methods, and bias risk. The case fatality rate (CFR) and NiV infection risk variables were evaluated by meta-analysis. Results: Southeast Asia, especially Bangladesh and Malaysia, had the most NiV cases. The major diagnostic method was blood and cerebrospinal fluid IgM and IgG antibody tests, and males predominated. Proxy respondents and matched controls were utilized for risk factor analyses when patients could not answer. The pooled CFR for NiV encephalitis was 61.0%, indicating severity. Risk factors included pigs, nighttime bats near homes, tree climbing, and male gender. Conclusion: Southeast Asian public health is plagued by NiV encephalitis. The high CFR calls for better diagnosis, treatment, and prevention. NiV's multiple risk factors must be understood for targeted therapy. Future research should fill knowledge gaps and improve NiV infection prevention.

An orbital prosthesis is a good alternative to surgical reconstruction for cosmetic and psychological rehabilitation of the patient. It should be aesthetic, durable, light weight, economical, and most importantly retentive. A clinical report explaining the prosthetic rehabilitation of post surgical case of orbital trauma that was followed by orbital exenteration has been described. The aim of the orbital prosthesis was to reinstate the esthetics and boost the psychological and mental state of the patient. The techniques employed along with incorporation of the patient's own hair in eyelashes greatly improved the esthetics.

Introduction: No existing local literature and guidance is currently available regarding shade selection by the patients for artificial teeth set of complete denture. Results of studies done in other countries cannot be generalised in our local population; hence there is a need to know the desires of our population. Keeping this research question in mind, this study reflects the behavioural aspects and wishes of patients towards artificial teeth shades. Aim: To observe and compare the shade preferences of artificial teeth during complete denture fabrication in diverse sample of both male and female patients in two different dental colleges. Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted in the Department of Prosthodontics and Crown and Bridge, KM Shah Dental College and Hospital, Vadodara and Sri Guru Ram Das Institute of Dental Sciences and Research, Amritsar during the time period of May 2016 to September 2019. A total of 824 participants with complete denture treatment needs, participated from two different dental colleges. Upper anterior molds of Acry Rock (Ruthinium Dental Products Pvt., Ltd.,) acrylic teeth in 18 different shades of A1, A2, A3 A3.5, A4, B1, B2, B3, B4, C1, C2, C3, C4, D2, D3, D4, E1and F1 were used and participants were asked to choose aesthetically pleasing shades for themselves in both the colleges. The frequency distribution was recorded and compared using the Chi-square test for statistical analysis for preference of shades between male and female participants of two colleges. Results: The most preferred shades were A1, B1, D2 and E1 by both male and female participants in both the colleges and the shade selection was statistically significant (p-value=0.0018), while no statistically significant difference was seen in preference of shades between male and female participants at both the colleges. Conclusion: Patients primarily preferred the lighter shades with high values. This should be kept in mind during treatment planning to increase the psychological acceptance of aged patients towards artificial dentures.

Metal occlusal surface may be indicated when constructing a denture, that is to be opposed by reconstructed dentition with gold occlusal surfaces, or when constructing a complete denture, or overdenture with a functionally generated path, or to reinforce and strengthen the denture.
