Abstract

We present the experimental evidence of RF demodulation by a graphene monolayer embedded in a coplanar structure. The demodulator was tested in the frequency range from 100 MHz to 25 GHz using amplitude modulated input signals. An input power of 0 dBm (1 mW) was used which is the typical power emitted for short range wireless communication systems, such as Bluetooth. The graphene demodulator exhibits good signal response in the frequency range associated to industrial, scientific and medical (ISM) radio band (2.4 GHz).

Abstract

The radio-frequency identification (RFID) concept is expanded to millimeter-wave frequencies and millimeter-wave identification (MMID) in this paper. The MMID concept and a comparison with UHF RFID are presented, showing the limitations and benefits of MMID. Three feasible applications are suggested for MMID, which are: 1) wireless mass memory; 2) an automatic identification system with pointing functionality; and 3) transponder communication with automotive radar. To demonstrate the feasibility of the MMID system, experimental results for both downlink and backscattering-based uplink are presented at 60 GHz. Abstract

The paper presents the experiments regarding a Schottky diode fabricated on a graphene monolayer using asymmetric metallic contacts. The current is in the mA range, which is with orders of magnitude higher than for reported Schottky diodes prepared on graphene bilayers or related graphene materials. Abstract

This paper presents the electromagnetic modeling and design of substrate integrated waveguides (SIW) up to W band (75 - 110 GHz) for Low-Temperature Co-fired Ceramics (LTCC) technology. The commercial software package CST Microwave Studio was used to optimize a coplanar waveguide (CPW) to SIW transition. Two test structures with two CPW to SIW transitions were designed, fabricated and measured up to 110 GHz. The comparison between simulated and measured data for the test structures shows a good agreement. The effective permittivity was extracted from both simulated and measured data and show good agreement

43. Design and experiments of a 77 GHz receiver in LTCC technology.

Abstract

The modeling, design and measurement results of a 77 GHz receiver are presented in this contribution. The receiver was fabricated using Ferro A6-M Low Temperature Co-fired Ceramic technology and implements the video detection technique. A slot coupled microstrip patch antenna with four parasitic elements is hybrid integrated with a millimeter wave Schottky diode. Full wave electromagnetic simulations were used for antenna modeling and optimization. Nonlinear analysis is used for the simulation of the detected voltage as a function of frequency in the 75–85 GHz frequency range. The simulated results are in good agreement with the experiments. The simulated and measured receiver radiation pattern at 77 GHz is also presented. [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER]
