The reduction in GHG emissions has become one of the most important objectives in Europe. One of these clean technologies in the quest for large-scale decarbonisation is the blending of hydrogen and natural gas (H2NG). The significance of this article lies in conducting a technical–economic analysis that relies on simulating annual consumption patterns. This study focuses on the utilization of H2NG at different proportions within a distribution network in Bucharest, Romania's largest city. The paper is a fallow up of another paper and presents a case study for the injection through all four entry points in the city of different percentages of hydrogen and the dynamic of the mix through the gas distribution network. The study found that the variation in H2 in the network is high and depends on the entry point levels and consumption. An economic analysis was conducted on seasonal real consumption, which confirmed the investment's profitability. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Natural gases are a mixture of hydrocarbons. Their composition determines the basic variables that need to be taken into account in the calculation of transport or gathering systems. In the daily operation of gas gathering and transport networks, the available composition measured by online systems is reduced. In the usual composition a pseudo-component called C6+ (or C7+) is used. If this component is defined from the complete chromatograph analysis of gas, the properties are established through a lumping procedure. Online chromatographic analysis is done on a small group of basic components, usually for heavy components by introducing a pseudo-component, in this paper called C6+. In this paper we will show how to determine the properties of the pseudo-component according to the measured density of the mixture and its dynamics through the network. Generally, transport networks operators are interested in operating them so as to maximize the benefit and reduce any penalties. For this they have SCADA systems, which provide information on transport parameters and gas quality at the monitored points. The overall picture of the network and its short and medium-term evolution is achieved with a powerful simulator. Managing the gas quality from the entry points to the exit points must be made dynamically by the simulator. In this paper we will present results obtained with the ADMODUNET simulator produced by NetGas R&D based on the company’s agreement.

This work focuses on a very important and current problem in the gas field: gas losses in natural gas distribution networks and their impact on the environment, as well as on the company operating the network. The paper starts with a bibliographic study and aims to identify the sources leading to losses, estimate loss volumes, reduce these losses by replacing high-risk pipeline sections, as well as trace the economic, environmental, and social impact. The calculation methodologies used in various countries in estimating these consumptions are very diverse. Romania uses a very dense methodology that can prompt very broad variations in the values obtained for technological consumption calculations using Order 18/2014, due to the multitude of parameters that must be estimated. To reduce some of the uncertainties in estimating these parameters, a study was proposed and carried out on the ill-fittings in the natural gas distribution systems. The article presents the experimental stand, the analysis of the experimental data, the methodology for calculating gas losses in the natural gas distribution system through leaking equipment, as well as the results obtained and the conclusions. Moreover, an application was made for a dynamic area check of the gas balance. Based on the correlations between the annual values in M&R stations, AMR, the volume for small consumers, technological consumption, linepack, and the equipment and materials used in the network, useful data were obtained in the diagnosis of problem areas. The end of the paper shows an economic calculation regarding the replacement of problematic pipeline sections in natural gas distribution networks. The difference between the volume of investments and the income from loss reduction is very large, but the aspect of protecting the environment and eliminating technological risks intervenes, thus increasing social security and health.
