Background: Ovarian neoplasm is a type of cancer caused by uncontrolled growth and division of cells within the ovary. It is a common type of gynecological cancer that affects a wide range of ages and can have various clinical, morphological, and histological features. This study aimed to examine the relationship between clinical presentation and histological pattern of ovarian neoplasm. Methods: This cross-sectional study conducted among 45 patients admitted to department of gynecology at Shaheed Suhrawardy medical college and hospital with features of ovarian neoplasm from February 2013 to February 2014. Results: The 82.3% of cases were benign tumors, 15.5% were malignant tumors, and 2.2% were borderline tumors. Benign tumors were more common in the 3rd decade, while malignant tumors were more common in the 4th to 6th decade. Symptoms of benign tumors included abdominal lumps and pain, while malignant tumors presented with abdominal pain, GIT-related symptoms, and ascites in some cases. The most common type of tumor was surface epithelial (84.5%), followed by germ cell (13.3%) and sex cord-stromal (2.2%) tumors. Conclusions: The study highlights the importance of recognizing the different clinical presentations of benign and malignant ovarian neoplasm.

Background and Aims: Hospital linen is widely acknowledged to be a potential reservoir for microorganisms and a vector of disease transmission. There are many types of microorganisms and they can be found in different types of hospital linen. This study attempted to investigate the types of hospital linen microorganisms and their distribution in hospital linen. Methods: This descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted in a public hospital namely Sher-E-Bangla Medical College Hospital (SBMCH), and in a private hospital namely Rahat Anower Hospital in Barishal district, Bangladesh. 64 (34 from public hospital and 30 from private hospital) swab samples were selected purposively from various wards and departments for microbiological test. Data processing and analysis were done using SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Science) version 23. Results: Public hospital’s sample illustrated the higher microbiological growth 19 (56%) than private hospital’s sample 10 (33%). Of these, public hospital showed 42% and 36.84% cocci and bacilli group, respectively. On the other hand, 50% and 40% cocci and bacilli group microorganism was found in the private hospital linen. The highest 4 (80%) positive microbiological growth was found in the Gynae operation theater, male surgery ward and female orthopedic ward of public hospital. In contrast, about 6 (40%) positive microbiological growth from the linen store of linen department of private hospital was noticed. Conclusions: It is concluded that different types of microorganisms such as cocci and bacilli can be found in every department and ward of both private and public hospital.

Real-time temperature mapping that solves local overheating problems is important for obtaining an optimized thermal design for high-efficiency power transformers. Internal temperature monitoring of operating power transformers can also be leveraged for asset monitoring applications targeting at fault detection enabling condition-based maintenance. Transformers present a variety of challenging sensing environments such as high levels of electromagnetic interference and limited space for conventional sensors to operate. Immersion of power transformers in insulation oils for thermal management during operation and the presence of relatively large and time-varying electrical and occasional magnetic fields make sensing technologies requiring electrical wires or active power at sensing locations highly undesirable. In this work, we investigate thermal response of a standard telecom fiber instrumented on compact transformer cores by using an optical frequency-domain reflectometry scheme. Correlation between conventional temperature sensing methods and fiber-optic sensing results as well as tradeoffs between spatial resolution and temperature measurement accuracy is discussed and spatially resolved real-time monitoring of temperatures in energized transformers is experimentally demonstrated.

The solid-state transformer (SST) is an emerging technology which is gaining increasing importance for future power distribution systems. Here, we present 2-D finite-element analysis (FEA) of single-phase SSTs for operating frequencies of 50 kHz. We consider designs to benchmark materials aimed at controlling high-frequency losses to achieve higher power densities. The FEA model is solved in the time domain for frequencies of 50 kHz, at a fixed 800 V input voltage and 10 kW output power for the first four cycles. This paper analyzes the influence of leakage inductance on the waveform with an increasing number of turns and discusses how to calculate the leakage inductance of the different winding topologies by FEA. In addition, transformer topologies are coupled to a power analysis using a Steinmetz parameterization of magnetic losses capturing induction and field scaling for transformer losses for FeNi-based metal amorphous nanocomposites (MANCs) for SST applications and their benchmarking with amorphous and other MANCs and ferrites. Recently, discovered FeNi-based MANCs allow smaller transformers at equivalent power as compared to Si steels, Metglas, and Co-based MANCs. These Fe-rich and non-Co containing MANCs also offer economies based on lower raw materials costs as compared with Co-based MANCs and significantly improved mechanical properties with respect to commercially available Fe-based MANCs.

In the present investigation, 29 genotypes of ridge gourd were grown during 2016-2017 at the experimental field of Regional Horticulture Research Station, Patuakhali, Bangladesh. The experiment was laid out in randomized complete block design with three replications. The mean sum of squares is due to various sources of variance for different characters of ridge gourd genotypes. The results indicated highly significant variation among the genotypes for the 11 characters studied viz., such as fruit length, fruit diameter, single fruit weight, number of fruits per plant, yield of fruit per plant. The genotype BD2975 showed the highest performance in fruit length (42.05cm) and weight of fruits (258.90g). While the genotype PK3 showed the highest performance in number of fruits per plant (28.67), respectively. Of eleven traits, eight showed high heritability (over 80%). The highest genotypic and phenotypic coefficients were recorded in the parameter fruit yield per plant (39.59% and 40.96%). Res. Agric., Livest. Fish.6(1): 45-55, April 2019

We benchmark materials in designs to control high frequency losses and achieve higher power densities. FEA models are solved in the time domain for line frequencies of 50 Hz–10 kHz and 100 KW output power for the first 4 cycles. Transformer topologies are coupled to a power analysis using a Steinmetz parameterization of magnetic losses capturing induction and field scaling for transformer grade Si steel as compared to Metglas, Ferrite, FINEMET, Co- and FeNi-based MANCs. Recently discovered FeNi-based MANCs allow smaller transformers at equivalent power as compared to Si steel, Metglas, and Co-based MANCs. Fe-rich and non-Co containing MANCs also offer economies based on lower raw materials costs compared with Co-based MANCs.

The design of the new lightweight material containing stone dust as a foaming component is described. For the composition of the material with desired properties the simplex sequential optimization was used. As an optimized value the complex point criterion was formed.The new low-cost and environmentally friendly material was designed by the help of the optimization software SOVA 1.0. The bulk density of lightweight gypsum was under 600 kg/m3 and its compressive strength was 1.1 MPa.

We have employed melt-spinning method to produce Ni2MnSn-based half-metallic Heusler alloy. It allows fast and simple production of large amount of materials in a single production step avoiding high temperature post-production annealing. Microstructural, magnetic and spin polarization study of Ni2MnSn ribbon is used for characterization. SEM analysis reveals the polycrystalline structure with the columnar crystals grown perpendicularly to the ribbon plane. A single-phase austenite with L21 structure was confirmed by X-ray. Magnetic measurements shows the ordinary ferromagnetic behavior with Curie temperature 344 K and magnetic moment 4.08 µB/f.u. Particular crystal structure leads to the well defined anisotropy having an easy plane in the ribbon's plane. Finally, the spin polarization parameter P0 estimated by Point-Contact Andreev-reflection Spectroscopy is varying in the range 40–70% for Ni2MnSn which is comparable with other values reported earlier for other Heusler alloys.

Lightweight gypsum materials foamed by the help of stone dust were investigated. Lightweight material prepared from the gypsum as a main binder and foamed by stone dust and acid agent. The materials with the bulk density are 607 kg/m3, compressive strength about 1.3 MPa and thermal conductivity was prepared. Basic physical, mechanical and thermal properties were investigated.

We report the study of structural and magnetic properties of Ni50Mn50 - xSnx(x = 11 and 12.5) and Ni49Mn51 - xSnx(x = 13) Heusler alloys in bulk and ribbon shape. Experimental results were obtained by differential scanning calorymetry, X-ray diffraction, and vibrating sample magnetometry techniques. The Ni-Mn-Sn system undergoes a martensitic structural transformation in a wide temperature range. For example, for Ni 49Mn 38Sn 13, the start and finish temperatures of the martensitic phase transformation for bulk alloy were Ms = 288 K and Mf = 245 K, while the ones found for austenite were As = 261 K and Af = 304 K. The Curie temperature for the austenite was evaluated to be around 325 K. In the ribbon of same composition, the magnetization increases monotonically with the temperature showing an abrupt change in the slope at T = 258 K as a consequence of the martensite-austenite transformation. The complex behavior exhibited by these Heusler alloys should be ascribed to the strong coupling between magnetism and structure, being their magnetic behavior determined by the distance between Mn atoms.

Experimental data on microstructural (crystalline volume fraction, grain size) and magnetic (coercive field) properties in amorphous and nanocrystalline Fe73.5-x(Co0.5Ni0.5)xSi13.5B9Nb3Cu1 alloy ribbons (x = 2.5, 5 and 10) are presented. Nanocrystalline structure was developed by annealing the precursor amorphous ribbons by current annealing (CA) and stress-current-annealing (SA). Microstructural analysis of the treated ribbons using X-ray Diffraction showed a high content of amorphous phase in the bulk. In addition, substantial changes in the crystalline state such as grain size of the samples annealed at different conditions were observed. The alloy composition also affects greatly the grain size,: increasing the (Co,Ni) content leads to higher values of the average grain size. The evolutions of the coercive field with the two kinds of thermal treatment were analysed, allowing us to conclude that the addition of (Co,Ni) tends to reduce the magnetic softness character of the original material, while the treated SA samples show higher coercivities higher than those treated without by CA.

We report the effect of shorttime vacuum annealing, during 10 minutes at 923 K, 973 K, 1023 K and 1073 K, on magnetostructural properties of as-quenched ribbons of Ni45.5Mn43In11.5 Heusler alloy. The martensitic transformation is strongly sensitive to annealing treatments. The martensitic phase starting temperature is significantly shifted from 239 K towards higher temperatures around 370 K. It suffers a break down in two peaks when a field equal or higher than 500 Oe is applied to the as-quenched sample. This effect is not detected in the transformation of annealed ribbons but its signature can be observed at low temperature. Moreover, under high magnetic field up to 30 kOe temperatures associated with both martensitic and reverse transitions do not change for annealed samples, meanwhile the magnetization difference between austenite and martensite increases with the field. Nevertheless, it almost remains unchanged in the as-quenched ribbon.

We report the microstructural and magnetic properties of Ni50Mn39Sn11 and Ni50Mn36Sn14 ribbon Heusler alloys.
