Mathematics - Algebraic Topology - Abstract
Building on results of M. Ando, M.J. Hopkins and C. Rezk, we show the existence of uncountably many $\mathbb{E}_\infty$-String orientations of real K-theory KO and of topological modular forms tmf, generalizing the $\hat{A}$- (resp. the Witten) genus. Furthermore, the obstruction to lifting an $\mathbb{E}_\infty$-String orientations from KO to tmf is identified with a classical Iwasawa-theoretic condition. The common key to all these results is a precise understanding of the classical Kummer congruences, imposed for all primes simultaneously. This result is of independent arithmetic interest., Comment: final version

We prove the following result of V. Voevodsky. If $S$ is a finite dimensional noetherian scheme such that $S=\cup_\alpha\Spec(R_\alpha)$ for {\em countable} rings $R_\alpha$, then the stable motivic homotopy category over $S$ satisfies Brown representability.

Combining the idea of motivic zeta function, due to Kapranov, and Pellikaan's definition of a two- variable zeta function for curves over finite fields in the present note we introduce a motivic two- variable zeta function for curves over arbitrary fields and prove the generalizations of Pellikaan's results in this context., Comment: 11 pages

Standardized monitoring of BCR::ABL1 mRNA levels is essential for the management of chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) patients. From 2016 to 2021 the European Treatment and Outcome Study for CML (EUTOS) explored the use of secondary, lyophilized cell-based BCR::ABL1 reference panels traceable to the World Health Organization primary reference material to standardize and validate local laboratory tests. Panels were used to assign and validate conversion factors (CFs) to the International Scale and assess the ability of laboratories to assess deep molecular response (DMR). The study also explored aspects of internal quality control. The percentage of EUTOS reference laboratories (n = 50) with CFs validated as optimal or satisfactory increased from 67.5% to 97.6% and 36.4% to 91.7% for ABL1 and GUSB, respectively, during the study period and 98% of laboratories were able to detect MR4.5 in most samples. Laboratories with unvalidated CFs had a higher coefficient of variation for BCR::ABL1IS and some laboratories had a limit of blank greater than zero which could affect the accurate reporting of DMR. Our study indicates that secondary reference panels can be used effectively to obtain and validate CFs in a manner equivalent to sample exchange and can also be used to monitor additional aspects of quality assurance.

- Abstract

- Abstract
Today stroke represents a major medical and political problem in Western industrial nations. High demands need to be placed on the initial diagnostic work-up and therapeutic treatment to ensure that the patients benefit from the recent advancements achieved in diagnostic and therapeutic fields. According to the motto "time is brain" the clinical examination and imaging have to be performed within 60 min ("door to needle time") so that potential patients can be quickly treated with systemic or intra-arterial lysis. However, it should be taken into consideration that the selection of diagnostic imaging facilities depends on several factors such as infrastructure, the time remaining in the diagnostic window, and the severity of the clinical symptoms. © 2006 Springer Medizin Verlag.

Zusammenfassung: Die moderne Bildgebung beim postoperativen Syndrom der Wirbelsule, d. h. Symptomen bzw.

Made available in DSpace on 2022-04-28T20:53:17Z (GMT). No. of bitstreams: 0 Previous issue date: 2009-06-10 Science and Technology Facilities Council We report on a study of the relative rates of B meson decays into ψ(2S) and J/ψ mesons using 1.3fb-1 of pp̄ collisions at s=1.96TeV recorded by the D0 detector operating at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. We observe the channels Bs0→ψ(2S), Bs0→J/ψ, B±→ψ(2S) K±, and B±→J/ψK± and we measure the relative branching fractions for these channels to be B(Bs0→ψ(2S))B(Bs0→J/ ψ)=0.53±0.10(stat)±0.07(syst)±0.06(B), B(B±→ψ(2S)K±)B(B±→J/ψK±)=0. 63±0.05(stat)±0.03(syst)±0.07(B),where the final error corresponds to the uncertainty in the J/ψ and ψ(2S) branching ratio into two muons. © 2009 The American Physical Society. - Abstract
Made available in DSpace on 2022-04-28T20:48:31Z (GMT). No. of bitstreams: 0 Previous issue date: 2009-02-02 In a data sample of approximately 1.3fb-1 collected with the D0 detector between 2002 and 2006, the orbitally excited charm state Ds1±(2536) has been observed with a measured mass of 2535.7±0.6(stat)±0.5(syst) MeV/c2 via the decay mode Bs0→Ds1-(2536)μ+νμX. A first measurement is made of the branching ratio product Br(b̄→Ds1-(2536) μ+νμX)×Br(Ds1-→D*-KS0). Assuming that Ds1-(2536) production in semileptonic decay is entirely from Bs0, an extraction of the semileptonic branching ratio Br(Bs0→Ds1-(2536)μ+νμX) is made. © 2009 The American Physical Society. - Abstract
Made available in DSpace on 2022-04-28T20:48:54Z (GMT). No. of bitstreams: 0 Previous issue date: 2009-02-02 Science and Technology Facilities Council We present results of a search for WH→ℓνbb̄ production in pp̄ collisions based on the analysis of 1.05fb-1 of data collected by the D0 experiment at the Fermilab Tevatron, using a neural network for separating the signal from backgrounds. No signal-like excess is observed, and we set 95% C.L. upper limits on the WH production cross section multiplied by the branching ratio for H→bb̄ for Higgs boson masses between 100 and 150 GeV. For a mass of 115 GeV, we obtain an observed (expected) limit of 1.5 (1.4) pb, a factor of 11.4 (10.7) times larger than the standard model prediction. © 2009 The American Physical Society. No. of bitstreams: 0 Previous issue date: 2009-02-02 Science and Technology Facilities Council We report on a search for large extra spatial dimensions in the dielectron and diphoton channels using a data sample of 1.05fb-1 of pp̄ collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 1.96 TeV collected by the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. The invariant mass spectrum of the data agrees well with the prediction of the standard model. We find the most restrictive 95% C.L. lower limits on the effective Planck scale between 2.1 and 1.3 TeV for 2 to 7 extra dimensions. © 2009 The American Physical Society. - Abstract
In a data sample of approximately 1.3 fb;{-1} collected with the D0 detector between 2002 and 2006, the orbitally excited charm state D_{s1};{+/-}(2536) has been observed with a measured mass of 2535.7+/-0.6(stat)+/-0.5(syst) MeV/c;{2} via the decay mode B_{s};{0}-->D_{s1};{-}(2536)mu;{+}nu_{mu}X. A first measurement is made of the branching ratio product Br(b[over ]-->D_{s1};{-}(2536)mu;{+}nu_{mu}X)xBr(D_{s1};{-}-->D;{*-}K_{S};{0}). Assuming that D_{s1};{-}(2536) production in semileptonic decay is entirely from B_{s};{0}, an extraction of the semileptonic branching ratio Br(B_{s};{0}-->D_{s1};{-}(2536)mu;{+}nu_{mu}X) is made.

We also measure the mean lifetime (tau) over bar (s) of the B-s(0) mass eigenstates and the lifetime ratio (tau) over bar (s)/tau(d). The analyses are based on approximately 2.8 fb(-1) of data recorded with the D0 detector. From our measurements of the angular parameters we conclude that there is no evidence for a deviation from flavor SU( 3) symmetry for these decays and that the factorization assumption is not valid for the B-d(0) --> J/psi K*(0) decay. - Abstract
Made available in DSpace on 2022-04-28T20:47:50Z (GMT). No. of bitstreams: 0 Previous issue date: 2008-12-15 Science and Technology Facilities Council We report a search for the standard model Higgs boson in the missing energy and acoplanar b-jet topology, using an integrated luminosity of 0.93fb-1 recorded by the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron pp̄ Collider. The analysis includes signal contributions from pp̄→ZH→νν̄ bb̄, as well as from WH production in which the charged lepton from the W boson decay is undetected. Neural networks are used to separate signal from background. In the absence of a signal, we set limits on σ(pp̄→ VH)×B(H→bb̄) at the 95% C.L. of 2.6-2.3 pb, for Higgs boson masses in the range 105-135 GeV, where V=W, Z. The corresponding expected limits range from 2.8 to 2.0 pb. © 2008 The American Physical Society. No. of bitstreams: 0 Previous issue date: 2008-12-05 Science and Technology Facilities Council We report the observation of the doubly strange b baryon Ωb- in the decay channel Ωb-→J/ψΩ-, with J/ψ→μ+μ- and Ω-→ΛK-→(pπ-)K-, in pp̄ collisions at s=1.96TeV. Using approximately 1.3fb-1 of data collected with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider, we observe 17.8±4.9(stat)±0.8(syst) Ωb- signal events at a mass of 6.165±0.010(stat)±0.013(syst) GeV. The significance of the observed signal is 5.4σ, corresponding to a probability of 6.7×10-8 of it arising from a background fluctuation. © 2008 The American Physical Society.
