Herein, the effect of lithium difluoro(oxalate)borate (LiDFOB) as an electrolyte additive on the electrochemical performance of LiFe0.15Co0.85PO4@C (LFCP@C) cathode, synthesized by a scalable solid‐state synthesis method is reported. Galvanostatic studies revealed better electrochemical performance among the LFCP@C (LiDFOB: 0.5–2 wt%) in a half‐cell assembly compared to the LiFe0.15Co0.85PO4 in the absence of LiDFOB. Also, among the various concentrations of LiDFOB, the LFCP@C (LiDFOB—1.5 wt%) and LFCP@C (LiDFOB—2 wt%) are optimized as suitable candidates for further electrochemical studies owing to the high discharge capacities of 116 and 118 mAh g−1. In addition, the electrochemical impedance studies (EIS) exhibited an increase in the charge–transfer resistance (Rct) as the amount of LiDFOB was increased, whereas a lower Rct value is observed in the absence of additive. In addition, the diffusion coefficient calculation is calculated using the EIS data, which shows a diffusion coefficient in the order of ≈10−13 cm2 s−1. However, as the amount of LiDFOB is increased from 0 to 2 wt%, a decrease in the diffusion coefficient is observed owing to the formation of a stable and thicker passivation layer. Background: COVID-19 has proven to be the worst pandemic in the history of mankind. While the pandemic still continues to perplex scientists globally, attempts are being made to quantify the mortality caused by the pandemic. Official COVID-19 figures in India grossly understate the true scale of the pandemic in the country. Fatality rates help us understand the severity of a disease, identify at risk populations, and evaluate quality of healthcare. A COVID-19 death is defined for surveillance purposes as a death resulting from a clinically compatible illness in a probable or confirmed COVID-19 case, unless there is a clear alternative cause of death that cannot be related to COVID-19 disease (e.g., trauma) and excess mortality is defined as the difference in the total number of deaths in a crisis compared to those expected under normal conditions. Materials and Methods: We did a systematic review of multiple papers on PubMed, Medline, Embase, MedRxiV pre print on excess mortality. Differentiation between model based estimated excess mortality and data based excess mortality was studied. Results: All the studies showed that the excess mortality was to the tune of almost three times the official figures. The model based excess mortality assumptions showed higher deaths as compared to the data based one. However, there were a lot of discrepancies in the data provided by various states along with variations observed between the two waves as well. Health survey data suggested higher mortality rate as compared to data compiled from the civil registration system. Additionally, in the second wave, a small but a significant number of deaths occurred due to non availability of oxygen and beds in the hospitals. Conclusions: Official COVID-19 deaths have entirely failed to capture the scale of pandemic excess mortality in India. If most excess deaths were, indeed, from COVID-19 then under ascertainment of COVID-19 deaths has been high, with around 8-10 excess deaths for every recorded COVID-19 death. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Hund's maximum multiplicity rule as stated in most elementary and intermediate level textbooks on general and inorganic chemistry and usually taught at the college and undergraduate level is incorrect. It is true that electrons entering a subshell of an atom tend to occupy the orbitals singly as far as possible but not necessarily with parallel spins. Also, proper definitions and correct use of terms like configuration, microstate, spectroscopic term, level and state are essential if confusion on the part of the student, especially the beginner, is to be avoided.

Electrochemical energy-storage technologies remain the only key to solve the increasing demands of global energy supply, zero-emission transportation, and grid storage in a greener way. Accordingly, novel strategies and the new promising designs of electrodes attempt to conquer the high energy density of supercapacitors without decreasing their power density and cycle life. In supercapacitors, asymmetric supercapacitors outshine the symmetric supercapacitors (<1.2 V) via the benefit of great energy density through high operating voltage (>2.0 V) in a safer way using aqueous electrolytes. Especially, emerging high energy supercapacitors perfected by suitable low cost-electrode materials are now the crown of energy storage research. Employing battery type Ni(OH)2 as a positive electrode has become a promising approach to building next-generation high energy supercapacitors besides its abundance, cost efficiency, environment friendliness, and high theoretical capacity. This review exclusively elaborates the unnoticed vision into the design, fabrication, mechanism, and investigation of such fascinating Ni(OH)2 based supercapacitors in an asymmetric fashion. Further, this review eventually mitigates the issues associated with the Ni(OH)2 component toward the goal of building next-generation supercapacitors for a sustainable environment.
