Introducción: La violencia es un fenómeno extremadamente difuso y complejo, que afecta al mundo entero, con cifras que van en aumento considerable. Específicamente, la violencia en el lugar de trabajo es una problemática relevante debido a las múltiples consecuencias que puede provocar en las personas, las instituciones, y la sociedad. Objetivo: Determinar la percepción de la violencia laboral y factores asociados, en Unidades de Emergencia de establecimientos de salud privados. Metodología: Estudio transversal, explicativo. Se censaron 130 trabajadores de unidades de emergencia privadas chilenas, mediante un instrumento dividido en a) Variables biosociodemográficas y laborales y b) Cuestionario Violencia Laboral del sector de Salud. Para el análisis inferencial se realizaron asociaciones con chi cuadrado y test de Fisher y regresión logística. Durante toda la investigación se respetaron principios bioéticos internacionales. Resultados: La violencia con mayor prevalencia en este grupo de estudio, fue la violencia psicológica (54,6%). Se levantó un modelo de regresión logística, arrojando resultados significativos (p≤0,05) con las variables edad y preocupación por la violencia, las cuales aumentan el riesgo de violencia psicológica. Conclusiones: Los trabajadores participantes perciben predominantemente violencia de tipo psicológica. Sin embargo, la que más se reporta es la violencia física. Ambos tipos de violencias reconocen como principal perpetrador al usuario. Se puntualiza que estos hallazgos pueden ser de gran utilidad para las instituciones privadas de salud y la Gestión del Cuidado, al ofrecerle insumos empíricos para tomar decisiones respecto al entorno laboral sanitario.

This paper presents the conceptual underpinnings organized by a group of designers and design researchers for the creation of the Ecotopias Socioenvironmental Design Laboratory at PUC-Rio University. It begins by discussing the anthropogenic crisis, which the planet is currently facing, and the consequent design crisis. It also presents the field of design for sustainability, its transversality and eco-logic possibilities. It situates the process of constructing scenarios in this field as a methodological option for opening the imaginative and anticipatory potential of art and design to confront the planetary environmental crises and regenerate ecologies of the mind, social relations, and the environment. It describes the methodological steps of the scenario-building process derived from the project Sustainable Everyday, and, finally, it distinguishes the concepts of utopia and ecotopia.

ABSTRACT Beetroot, when cultivated in hot regions such as the Brazilian semi-arid, is subjected to various stressful environmental factors that can negatively impact its productivity and quality. Silicon is an element known for its ability to mitigate damage caused by both abiotic and biotic stressors and is recognized as a productivity and quality enhancer in agricultural crops. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate the effects of silicon application on the agronomic performance of the beet crop. The experimental design used was a randomized block design in a 5 x 2 factorial arrangement with four replications, comprising five silicon doses (0.0; 0.9; 1.8; 2.7, and 3.6 kg ha-1) and two table beet cultivars (Fortuna and Maravilha). The assessed variables included plant height, number of leaves per plant, polar and equatorial diameter of the tuberous root, tuberous root, shoot and total dry matter mass, commercial, non-commercial, and total productivity, as well as quality assessment of the root with determinations of pH, vitamin C, titratable acidity, and total soluble sugars. A silicon dose of 2.56 kg ha-1 promoted optimal root development in the Fortuna cultivar; however, silicon application at all tested doses reduced the levels of soluble sugars, while a dose of 3.6 kg ha-1 increased total titratable acidity. In contrast, silicon did not infl uence root development in the Maravilha cultivar, but an application of 3.13 kg ha-1 increased the total soluble sugar content by 86.13%.

Objective The four initial severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2)-infected pregnant women presenting at term gestation to our institution presented with transaminitis. Three of the four were diagnosed with intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy (IHCP). Growing evidence exists of an associated transaminitis in nonpregnant SARS-CoV-2 patients. However, there are limited data of hepatic involvement of SARS-CoV-2 in pregnancy, and no previous studies have assessed the association with IHCP in patients with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Objetivo. Evaluar la eficacia de un protocolo estandarizado y simplificado basado en los pilares técnicos de la Iniciativa HEARTS para el control de pacientes hipertensos del Programa de Salud Cardiovascular en el primer nivel de atención de salud en Chile. Métodos. Estudio observacional longitudinal (cohorte histórica), en 2 centros de salud familiar del primer nivel de atención en Santiago, que comparó el control de presión arterial en adultos hipertensos logrado con el protocolo estandarizado y simplificado, frente al protocolo habitual, según las guías nacionales. Las innovaciones del protocolo estandarizado incluyeron cambios en la coordinación del equipo de salud, inicio de tratamiento farmacológico inmediatamente después de confirmación diagnóstica, tratamiento farmacológico estandarizado con combinación de al menos 2 o 3 fármacos antihipertensivos en un sólo comprimido, en una toma diaria. Se realizó seguimiento por 1 año para evaluar el porcentaje de adherencia al tratamiento y cumplimiento de metas de control de presión arterial (menor a 140/90 mmHg). Resultados. Se evaluaron 1 490 pacientes: 562 que utilizaron el protocolo estandarizado y simplificado y 928 tratados con el protocolo habitual (centros de salud familiar-1: 650, centros de salud familiar -2: 278). Human Papillomavirus (HPV) infection is associated with intraepithelial neoplasia and cervical cancer (CC). Ecuador has a high prevalence of cervical cancer, with more than 1600 new cases diagnosed annually. This study aimed to analyze oncogenes E6 and E7 of HPV16 in samples collected from women with cancerous and precancerous cervical lesions from the Ecuadorian coast. Twenty-nine women, including six with ASCUS, three with LSIL, thirteen with HSIL, and seven with Cacu, were analyzed. The most common SNPs were E6 350G or L83V (82.6%) and E6 145T/286A/289G/335T/350G or Q14H/F78Y/L83V (17.4%). Both variants are reported to be associated with an increased risk of cervical cancer in worldwide studies. In contrast, all E7 genes have conserved amino-acid positions. Phylogenetic trees showed the circulation of the D (26.1%) and A (73.9) lineages. The frequency of D was higher than that reported in other comparable studies in Ecuador and Latin America, and may be related to the ethnic composition of the studied populations. This study contributes to the characterization of the potential risk factors for cervical carcinogenesis associated with Ecuadorian women infected with HPV16.

This study used sequential exploratory, mixed-method research that explored the influence of authentic tasks on adult language learners' interactions in e-forums. The participants belonged to a blended-flipped program of English as a Foreign Language (EFL). E-Forum posting in the course aimed at encouraging beginner learners to exchange experiences; however, participation in the e-forums did not evolve into spontaneous interactions. Therefore, authentic tasks were designed and implemented in the e-forum. Data were gathered from learners' participation registers, surveys, and interviews and by executing a content-analysis procedure. After analyzing the data, one main category and three subcategories emerged. The main category showed that implementing authentic tasks on students' e-forums interactions led to the collaborative construction of a cognitive-social e-learning environment. The main category comprised three subcategories: (a) building a learning community by interweaving affective-communicative actions, (b) promoting an online learning environment through authenticity, and (c) moving from individual to collective knowledge construction. Findings suggest that the implementation of authentic tasks on e-forums: (a) increased learners' meaningful interactions mediated by social, cognitive, and teaching presences; (b) helped to construct significant and lifelong knowledge collectively; and (c) fostered a stronger learning community through participants' affective-communicative actions.

Este artigo investigou as características que deve possuir um material concreto que favoreça a compreensão epistemológica de números inteiros por estudantes cegos. A lente teórico-metodológica utilizada pautou-se na Perspectiva Lógico-histórica e nexos conceituais articulada ao uso de materiais concretos para o ensino de matemática a estudantes cegos. Os resultados da pesquisa, revelaram o ábaco dos inteiros como material adequado ao ensino de números inteiros a estudantes videntes, cuja abordagem pedagógica pode ser utilizada com estudantes cegos se, adaptado às características do soroban, utilizado por estudantes cegos para registros e operações com números naturais. Nesse contexto, foi desenvolvido o soroban dos inteiros, o qual, por meio do desenvolvimento de tarefas por uma aluna cega, mostrou-se um material adequado para o ensino de números inteiros a estudantes cegos. Concluiu-se que o soroban dos inteiros pode ser um material de inclusão de estudantes cegos, ao permitir que estudantes cegos e videntes estudem os números inteiros sob a mesma perspectiva epistemológica que favoreça sua compreensão.

O presente texto, de abordagem qualitativa, apresenta parte de uma pesquisa realizada no Mestrado Profissional em Educação, concluída no ano de 2020, e tem como objeto de estudo a discussão sobre formação continuada para professores de Arte, licenciados para o ensino das linguagens de teatro e dança e atuantes em escolas públicas da Rede Municipal de Ensino de Campo Grande - MS. Os métodos utilizados para a investigação foram a pesquisa bibliográfica, a pesquisa documental e a pesquisa de campo. A abordagem sobre formação continuada tem como referencial teórico os autores Madanelo e Sá-Chaves (2007), Nóvoa (2014), Marcelo (2010) e Berra e Sauer (2017). A entrevista narrativa, que foi realizada com cinco professores de Arte, teve seus aspectos técnicos desenvolvidos com base nos autores Gil (2012), Marques (2014), Jovchelovitch e Bauer (2002). A entrevista narrativa resultou na identificação dos desafios enfrentados pelos professores entrevistados, com posterior organização do material coletado em três grandes eixos temáticos, que são: a polivalência, o espaço físico e o trabalho do professor de Arte licenciado em teatro e dança. As reflexões sobre formação continuada partem da narrativa dos professores e dos problemas e desafios por eles apresentados. A promoção de encontros entre agendes educacionais responsáveis pela arte na educação municipal permite que sejam debatidos e pensados os possíveis caminhos de superação dos problemas narrados pelos professores. Mais do que buscar a solução para os problemas detectados na pesquisa, esta proposta visa articular e promover mais espaços para a discussão dos temas abordados.

Resumo: Esta pesquisa investigou significados atribuídos aos números inteiros e suas operações nas intervenções com o material Soroban dos Inteiros. Metodologicamente, utilizou-se a pesquisa intervenção como abordagem de pesquisa e a análise qualitativa das intervenções, que ocorreram separadamente, ambas no Atendimento Educacional Especializado, com uma estudante cega e um estudante com baixa visão, alunos de escolas regulares. Os resultados indicaram que o Soroban dos Inteiros, tendo alicerces nos nexos conceituais da civilização chinesa, juntamente às tarefas para seu uso e manipulação, possibilitou a observação das transformações da natureza das quantidades nas operações em movimentos opostos. O estudo concluiu que os significados atribuídos pelos estudantes foram: compreensão de quantidades negativas como faltas, e significados operatórios de que adicionar um número negativo equivale a subtrair, e subtrair um número negativo equivale a adicionar e, por consequência desta compreensão, houve atribuição de sentido e validação da regra de sinais para a multiplicação de números inteiros.

Background The Fontan circulation is a successful operative strategy for abolishing cyanosis and chronic volume overload in patients with congenital heart disease with single ventricle physiology. “Fontan failure” is a major cause of poor quality of life and mortality in these patients. We assessed the number and clinical characteristics of adult patients with Fontan physiology receiving pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) therapies across specialist centers in the United Kingdom. Methods and Results We identified all adult patients with a Fontan‐type circulation under active follow‐up in 10 specialist congenital heart disease centers in England and Scotland between 2009 and 2019. Patients taking PAH therapies were matched to untreated patients. A survey of experts was also performed. Of 1538 patients with Fontan followed in specialist centers, only 76 (4.9%) received PAH therapies during follow‐up. The vast majority (90.8%) were treated with a phosphodiesterase‐5 inhibitor. In 33% of patients, PAH therapies were started after surgery or during hospital admission. This article reports youths´ interests and concerns during the COVID-19 pandemic by analyzing what Argentine students aged 12 to 18 years expressed within the 2020 edition of TED-Ed Clubs, an extracurricular school program aimed at developing and communicating an idea following a TED-talk format. Based on video recordings of a random sample of 100 students´ talks, we identified six recurring themes: 'current social affairs' such as gender equality and social media; 'Interpersonal relationships', focusing on adolescents´ bonds with peers and adults; 'rethinking lifestyles' such as the importance of developing healthy habits; 'sharing passions' typically describing activities about which they felt passionate, such as sports; 'self-discovery', which addressed introspective insights; and 'Pandemic' when referring to the current health crisis. In all cases, students aimed to engage and inspire their audience to reflect and act upon these issues. Results speak of the value of creating learning environments at school for youth voices to be acknowledged.

Contribution: Model-based learning improves systems thinking (ST) based on students' prior knowledge and gender. Relations were found between textual, visual, and mixed question types and student achievements. Background: ST is essential to judicious decision-making and problem-solving. Undergraduate students can be taught to apply better ST, and analysis of their online systems modeling processes can improve their ST. Research Questions: 1) What is the effect, if any, of online learning on the ST and conceptual modeling skill levels of undergraduate engineering students? 2) What differences are there, if any, between students' ST, conceptual modeling, and scores in textual, visual, and mixed question types based on their prior knowledge levels? and 3) Are there any gender differences in student performance, and if so, what are they? Methodology: The research participants were 157 undergraduate engineering students who took part in a mandatory second-year course, during which data were collected and analyzed quantitatively. Findings: Students with disparate prior knowledge differed significantly from each other in their overall ST mean score and in the mean scores of the various question types. Gender differences in ST and its relative improvement were also found.

Objetivou-se avaliar parâmetros reprodutivos e o desempenho de diferentes grupos genéticos de codornas japonesas com diferentes pesos iniciais de produção. O delineamento experimental utilizado para os dados de desempenho zootécnico das aves foi inteiramente casualizado, com esquema fatorial 3 x 2 (três linhagens: UEM1, UEM2 e Comercial (COM), e duas classes de peso: leves e pesadas), totalizando seis tratamentos, com oito repetições cada, portanto 48 parcelas. Cada parcela continha oito aves (dois machos e seis fêmeas), num total de 384 codornas. Foi analisado: a idade ao primeiro ovo, idade aos 50% de produção, idade de pico de produção e persistência de pico em semanas. O desempenho foi analisado por meio da produção de ovos, consumo de ração, conversão alimentar e mortalidade. Ainda, foi estudado a produção de ovos incubáveis. A linhagem COM apresentou maior peso vivo às seis semanas de idade, sendo UEM 1 e UEM 2 semelhantes entre si. Para a idade ao primeiro ovo, o grupo COM se equiparou UEM 1, sendo a UEM 2 foi mais tardia. Já para a variável idade aos 50% de produção de ovos a linhagem COM apresentou-se mais precoce em relação às demais linhagens. Não foi observado efeito do peso das codornas sobre a idade do primeiro ovo. Não houve efeito de interação entre linhagem e peso inicial das aves para nenhuma das variáveis de desempenho reprodutivo estudadas. Ainda, pode-se observar que não houve diferença entre os grupos genéticos ou peso corporal inicial para produção de ovos, quando considerado o período de 6 a 26 semanas de idade. Não houve diferença entre os grupos genéticos para consumo de ração durante o período de 20 semanas estudado e não houve efeito do peso inicial de produção sobre essa variável (P>0,05). A conversão alimentar kg/dz, melhorou pelos grupos das linhagens UEM 1 e UEM 2. Para a peso de ovos incubáveis o grupo comercial apresentou maior peso. Foi possível concluir que o melhoramento genético de codornas japonesas de postura necessita aprimoramento e que linhagem comercial não melhorada pode apresentar resultados semelhantes às linhagens melhoradas. The Massie-Campbell Attachment During Stress Scale (ADS, Massie & Campbell, 1983) is an observation guide of the interactions between mothers (or caretakers) and children from 6 to 18 months. This study sought the construct validity (convergent and discriminant) of ADS, as well as its criterion validity (sensitivity, specificity, and predictive values). To that end, child attachment was measured in a group of 32 children aged 8 to 10 months from Lima, Peru using ADS and Attachment Q-set 3.0 (AQS, Waters, 1995). Maternal sensitivity was assessed as well. It was found that ADS attachment classifications were related to AQS attachment security continuous scores (r = .41, p = .02) and to its dichotomous classifications [secure vs. insecure; χ2 (1, N = 32) = 4.69, p = 0.03, d = 0.83]. Additionally, no significant differences between the ADS’s maternal sensitivity of mothers with children classified as secure and mothers with children classified as insecure were found. Since ADS´s sensitivity did not reach satisfactory levels (33.3 %, 95 % CI = [15.48, 56.90]), a cut-off point of 5 secure behaviors was used, which improved its sensitivity (47.6 %, 95 % CI = [26.4; 69.7]) while maintaining satisfactory levels of specificity (90.9 %, 95 % CI = [57.1; 99.5]). The instrument shows adequate convergent validity but lacks evidence of discriminant validity. Further exploration of ADS’s sensitivity, specificity, and predictive values is recommended in order to obtain a cut-off point with greater validity, given that the instrument is considered a screening test.

Tundra and boreal ecosystems encompass the northern circumpolar permafrost region and are experiencing rapid environmental change with important implications for the global carbon (C) budget. We analysed multi-decadal time series containing 302 annual estimates of carbon dioxide (CO2) flux across 70 permafrost and non-permafrost ecosystems, and 672 estimates of summer CO2 flux across 181 ecosystems. We find an increase in the annual CO2 sink across non-permafrost ecosystems but not permafrost ecosystems, despite similar increases in summer uptake. Thus, recent non-growing-season CO2 losses have substantially impacted the CO2 balance of permafrost ecosystems. Furthermore, analysis of interannual variability reveals warmer summers amplify the C cycle (increase productivity and respiration) at putatively nitrogen-limited sites and at sites less reliant on summer precipitation for water use. Our findings suggest that water and nutrient availability will be important predictors of the C-cycle response of these ecosystems to future warming.

A Physalis peruviana L. apresenta grande valor nutricional e viabilidade econômica, tornando-se uma inovação para a horticultura brasileira. No entanto, conhecer o ponto ideal de colheita em frutos dessa espécie é um fator primordial nesse processo e que permite o máximo aproveitamento pós-colheita, proporcionando melhor qualidade e mínimo de perdas quando colhidos na maturidade fisiológica. Diante disto, objetivou-se caracterizar a maturidade fisiológica dos frutos de Physalis peruviana L. O experimento foi conduzido em delineamento inteiramente casualizado, onde o tratamento consistiu em diferentes estádios de maturação do fruto e da semente (20; 27; 34; e 41 dias após a antese), com quatro repetições. As variáveis analisadas consistiram em colorimetria do cálice e do fruto (luminosidade, cromaticidade e ângulo hue), massa fresca, diâmetro (transversal e longitudinal) do fruto, firmeza, pH, sólidos solúveis totais, acidez titulável, relação sólidos solúveis totais e acidez titulável do fruto, carotenoides, clorofila (a e b) do cálice, vitamina C e compostos fenólicos dos frutos. Os dados obtidos submetidos à análise de variância e regressão polinomial. Os frutos destinados ao consumo devem ser colhidos após os 35 DAA, momento em que observou-se coloração amarelo e ótimas qualidades organolépticas e nutricionais.

Oncocytic follicular cell-derived thyroid neoplasms, formerly known as Hurthle cell tumors, are characterized by expansile nodular growths of thyroid follicular epithelium displaying abundant granular eosinophilic cytoplasm. The topic of oncocytic [...], * Context.--Oncocytic thyroid tumors displaying a papillary growth pattern are rare and may cause diagnostic problems. Objective.--To examine the clinicopathologic features of a series of 32 follicular cell-derived tumors composed of cells with oncocytic cytoplasm and displaying papillary architecture. Design.--Thirty-two cases were collected and studied to assess clinicopathologic features, including immunohistochemical and molecular testing for BRAF V600E. Results.--The patients were 26 women and 6 men, aged 17 to 77 years. The nodules ranged from 0.3 to 6.0 cm. Eighteen cases showed features of oncocytic hyperplastic nodules and were identified against a background of thyroid follicular nodular disease; 4 cases showed features of oncocytic follicular adenoma; and 10 cases corresponded to carcinomas with oncocytic and papillary features. Nuclear features of papillary thyroid carcinoma were absent or exceedingly rare. All cases were negative for HBME-1 and cytokeratin 19 (CK19) and wild type for BRAF V600E. Follow-up in 25 patients showed that all patients with hyperplastic nodules and oncocytic follicular adenomas were alive and well and free of disease from 7 to 20 years. One patient with oncocytic follicular carcinoma showed metastases and died of tumor at 16 months; 2 patients with carcinoma had metastases and recurrence at 6 and 7 years; and 5 patients with invasive tumors were free of disease from 5 to 10 years. Conclusions.--Oncocytic thyroid tumors with papillary features can span a spectrum from benign hyperplastic, to encapsulated neoplastic, to invasive malignant lesions. Owing to their papillary features, it is important not to confuse them for other types of thyroid tumors, such as oncocytic papillary thyroid carcinoma. Titanium dioxide powders constituted by anatase single phase are very useful to understand several properties of that semiconductor applied as photocatalyst material. In addition, the reconstructive transformation involved in the anatase-to-rutile phase transition is also dependent of compositional and structural characteristics, which is consequence of the xerogel precursors. In this work, it was provided some structural investigation and the thermal event associated to different compositions of titanium dioxide xerogel samples obtained by Sol-Gel method. It was prepared two different doped-sample sets, one with bared titanium dioxide matrix and other with 10 mol% of zirconium-silicon one, and both sample sets were submitted to doping with 2 mol% of cation pairs, taking in account the ionic radii and oxidation states. The small and pentavalent vanadium cation was combined with trivalent and bigger lanthanum and bismuth ones, in order to provide non strained unit cell making an average values for ionic radii and oxidation states, taking in account the tetravalent titanium cation. By thermal analysis, X-ray diffractometry, FTIR and Raman spectroscopies it was possible to demonstrate the insertion of bigger dopants as lanthanum and bismuth, as well as the smaller one as vanadium, which are usually dopants not supported in isolated forms were successfully incorporated to anatase phase when combined as expected in previous composition design stage. Dans cet article il s’agit de présenter la démarche d’un projet scientifique co-réalisé avec les professeurs de chimie, de biologie et de physique afin de renforcer les apprentissages et de favoriser les transferts de compétences. Les enseignants DNL des matières scientifiques du Lycée Saint Benoît d’Istanbul ont choisi des activités et des outils correspondant à la progression et aux objectifs des programmes d’enseignements scientifiques, selon les directives du Ministère de l’éducation nationale turque. De surcroît, en tant qu’enseignant DNL, il est impératif de prendre en considération le niveau de compétences linguistiques des élèves, ce qui permet une sélection plus pertinente et adaptée des éléments pédagogiques constituants le projet. Par ailleurs, le développement des technologies de l’information et de la communication pour l’enseignement (TICE) a facilité la conception d’un projet plus innovant, plus concret qui assure un apprentissage motivant et efficace.

Colombia is one of the leading producers of yellow passion fruit but the genetic studies based on molecular markers from commercial plantations have not been considered to select interesting market material. The goal of this study was to assess the genetic variability and the population structure of 51 Colombian commercial yellow passion fruit accessions (102 individuals), and to provide the necessary information for prospective selection and breeding programs. Thus, a total of six microsatellites were amplified with 58 alleles identified and an average of 9.66 alleles per locus, including nine private and 31 rare. Diversity indexes showed polymorphic information content values of 0.74 (PIC), an observed (Ho) and expected (He) heterozygosity average of 0.52 and 0.78, respectively. Spatial distribution showed the greatest allelic richness (11 to 14) in most of the Valle del Cauca accessions. The Brazil stands out for the huge production and consumption of condensed milk, industries rely on high-tech production, offering products with high added value and enabling the consumer to purchase products from different brands, prices and quality. This job aimed to verify if there is sensory difference at the 5% level of significance as the acceptance of 6 samples of commercial condensed milk. The samples were evaluated by 120 consumers, recruited voluntarily for the acceptance test. The results of ANOVA showed that the samples C, D, E and F were significantly higher acceptance (p = 0.05) in the other hedonic scale. While the sample A had lower acceptance for all the attributes listed on the hedonic scale. The purchase intention test showed that the C and F samples achieved the highest frequencies of positive purchase intention. The internal preference mapping confirmed the results of the ANOVA and purchase intention test indicating a greater preference of tasters by C and F samples. Acquired samples were made with the same ingredients, it is assumed that the sensory differences occurred due to the quality of raw material and to product development processes in each company. It is necessary to identify the importance of quality of the raw material and the type of process used to obtain the product enabling the improvement of brands less accepted in its production, increasing the acceptance and quality of their own product. The quality along with the standardization of the final product is a key factor for maintaining competitiveness and increasing productivity in the market.

The objective was to evaluate the breeding practices of hick poultry and pig and the perceptions of the environmental impacts by the small farms producers in properties in the peri-urban region of Senador Canedo (GO), by the participative rural diagnostic. It was applied a semi-structured questionnaire and interview in 67 properties. The hick poultry group was composed of 7,266 animals, bred freely, without appropriated techniques and facilities. The amount of pigs was 2,589, 93,4% of them bred in semi-extensive or extensive system. 72,8% of them were commercialized. The hick poultry and pig breeding generates incomes and provides animal protein for the involved families, although the low technical level, poor concern about zootechnical characteristics and the lack of public policies are aspects to be improved.

Pregnant women are particularly susceptible to complications of influenza A virus infection, which may result from pregnancy-induced changes in the function of immune cells, including natural killer (NK) cells. To better understand NK cell function during pregnancy, we assessed the ability of the two main subsets of NK cells, CD56dim, and CD56bright NK cells, to respond to influenza-virus infected cells and tumor cells. During pregnancy, CD56dim and CD56bright NK cells displayed enhanced functional responses to both infected and tumor cells, with increased expression of degranulation markers and elevated frequency of NK cells producing IFN-γ. To better understand the mechanisms driving this enhanced function, we profiled CD56dim and CD56bright NK cells from pregnant and non-pregnant women using mass cytometry. NK cells from pregnant women displayed significantly increased expression of several functional and activation markers such as CD38 on both subsets and NKp46 on CD56dim NK cells. NK cells also displayed diminished expression of the chemokine receptor CXCR3 during pregnancy. Overall, these data demonstrate that functional and phenotypic shifts occur in NK cells during pregnancy that can influence the magnitude of the immune response to both infections and tumors.

Objetivo: descrever o perfil da temperatura corporal (TC) e o desfecho em pacientes com sepse atendidos em uma Unidade de Terapia Intensiva (UTI). Métodos: estudo retrospectivo, descritivo e exploratório. Incluíram-se pacientes maiores de 18 anos, diagnosticados com sepse grave ou choque séptico no período de janeiro a dezembro 2012, atendidos em uma UTI de um hospital púbico. Foram levantadas variáveis sociodemográficas, clínicas e o desfecho. Para a avaliação da TC, consideraram-se todas as medidas registradas durante a internação, aferidas na região axilar por termômetro digital acoplado ao monitor multiparamétrico. Adicionalmente, propuseram-se cenários comparativos entre o número de episódios de febre ou hipotermia nas 24 horas após a internação e nas 24 horas prévias ao desfecho. Os dados foram coletados nos prontuários físicos e eletrônicos. Resultados: foram incluídos 105 pacientes, com predominância de maiores de 60 anos, sexo masculino e cor branca. O desfecho clínico para 26 (24,8 %) foi a alta e para 79 (75,2 %), o óbito. Foram observadas 8778 verificações da TC, sendo a hipotermia mais frequente no grupo óbito (p = 0,00). No grupo alta, as medidas dentro da normalidade foram mais frequentes (p = 0,00). Entre os cenários propostos, houve diferenças estatisticamente significantes entre os grupos quando ocorreram dois ou mais episódios de febre nas 24 horas prévias ao desfecho. Conclusão: a descrição do perfil de termorregulação em pacientes sépticos mostrou que a TC é um indicador complementar capaz de auxiliar a equipe na prática clínica com intuito de propiciar melhores desfechos.
