In this paper we consider the following nonlinear and spatially nonlocal second-order evolution equation from nonlocal theory of continuum mechanics whereis a bounded smooth domain in,,, andais a bounded continuous function. Here, the kernelJis a nonnegative, symmetric bounded function with bounded derivative, satisfying certain growth conditions. We deduce an energy functional associated to these problem, and we study the local and global well posedness, boundedness and asymptotic behavior of its solutions. In this paper, we consider the nonlocal non-autonomous evolution problems {ut = -a(t)u + g (β(Ku)) in Ω, u = 0 in RN/Ω, where Ω is a bounded smooth domain in RN, N ⩾ 1, β is a positive constant, the coefficient a is a continuous bounded function on R, and K is an integral operator with symmetric kernel (Ku) (x) := ʃ R RN J(x, y)u(y)dy, being J a non-negative function continuously differentiable onRN ×RN and ʃ RN J(., y)dy = 1.We prove the existence of global pullback attractor, and we exhibit a functional to evolution process generated by this problem that decreases along of solutions. Introduction: Intergenerational programs involving children and the elderly promote intergenerational interactions and can positively affect physical and mental health, and the quality of life of the elderly. Objectives: To test the effects of an intergenerational intervention in social isolation, depressive symptoms and quality of life of the elderly. Methods: This study employed a pretest-posttest design. Measures: Portuguese versions of Geriatric Depression Scale, Lubben Social Networks Scale and WHOQOL-OLD. Participants: 12 elderly, 75% females, with mean age of 80.8 years (sd=8.8) and 20 kindergarten children (65% female) with mean age of 4,1 years (sd=0.79). The intervention ran for 6 weeks, with 11 intergenerational group sessions, each range between 30 and 120 minutes. A nonparametric paired samples tests was conducted to evaluate the impact of the intervention. Results: After the intervention, when comparing elderly with and without depressive symptoms, results showed significant differences in the total value of quality of life (p=.048) and in the facets: 1) Sensory functioning, 2) Autonomy, 3) Past, present and future activities (p=.003; p=.018; p=.030, respectively). 12,5% of de elderly with depressive symptoms before the intervention no longer have depressive symptoms after the intervention. Regarding social networks, there were no significant differences (p=.576) between the mean values of the two assessments. Conclusions: The implemented intergenerational program was effective in promoting quality of live and minimized depressive symptoms. After the intervention, the number of the elderly without depressive symptoms have increased and these presented a higher quality of life. This report presents the results of the national surveillance system of diarrhea etiology of the National Institute of Health of Portugal concerning norovirus (NoV) during a two-year period, May 2011-2013. Of the total 580 stool samples collected from patients hospitalized for acute diarrhea in 13 Hospitals of Portugal, 67 (11.6%) tested positive for NoV. From May 2011 to March 2012 the GII.4 variant New Orleans 2009 was the most predominant strain having been replaced by the new GII.4 variant Sydney 2012 since then till the end of the survey. To our knowledge this is the first study showing the circulation of GII.4 as the norovirus strain most commonly associated to gastroenteritis and the first to report the replacement of GII.4 New Orleans by GII.4 Sydney 2012 variant in Portugal., (Copyright © 2015 Elsevier B.V.
