Preterm and extremely low-birth-weight newborns are at a higher risk for early-onset neonatal sepsis (NN-SP). This condition is often linked to intrapartum fever, PROM, and sepsis occurring within the first day of life. The causal pathogen can be acquired through intrauterine transmission or from the mother’s flora. Therefore, our study aimed to evaluate PC and PI in cases involving NN-SP. Therefore, we can conclude that analyzing the PC and its indices can improve the prognosis of sepsis in NN. Studying NN using this method is a cost-effective approach that helps prevent mortality and morbidity. Early identification of newborn sepsis can help reduce the associated medical tests and medical bills. Clinical correlation with specific indicators and tools is a method for achieving this.

Objective: Primary brain injuries, which are the result of severe head trauma and cannot be prevented, are always catastrophic and fatal. Yet, if diagnostic and therapeutic steps are taken promptly after a craniocerebral injury, further brain insults may be prevented and the victim's death can be avoided within 24 hours. Materials and Methods: Source of data, sample size, inclusion criteria, exclusion criteria, statistical methods. Results: One hundred individuals with confirmed cumputer tomography (CT) scan results of severe head trauma participated in this analysis. Seventy men and thirty women accounted for the total number of patients. The research included 70% men and 30% women. The M/F ratio is 2.3:1. Males between the ages of 21 and 30 (a total of 21 patients) had the highest rate of head injury in our analysis. Males had a lower incidence overall, with nine cases in the 0–10 age range, 11 cases in the 11–20 age range, five cases in the 41–50 age range, three cases in the 51–60 age range, and four cases in patients older than 61. Similarly, eight of the female patients were in the 21–30 age range. There were also four patients between the ages of 0 and 10, four between the ages of 11 and 20, two between the ages of 41 and 50, five between the ages of 51 and 60, and three among those older than 61. Summary and Conclusion: Men were more likely than women to sustain a head injury. The majority of the study population consisted of patients between the ages of 21 and 30 and 31 and 40. Injuries were found to most often occur in car crashes.

Fluoroethylene carbonate (FEC) has been proposed as an effective electrolyte additive that enhances the stability and elasticity of the solid electrolyte interphase (SEI) of emerging Si and Li metal anodes. However, uncertainties still remain on the exact mechanism through which FEC alters the electrolyte decomposition and SEI formation process. Herein, the influence of FEC on LiPF6/ethylene carbonate (EC) electrolytes for Si anodes is investigated through classical molecular dynamics, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, and quantum chemical calculations. Albeit a minority species, FEC is found to significantly modify the solvation structure and reduction behavior of the electrolyte while being innocuous to transport properties. Even with limited 10% of FEC, the Li+ solvation structure exhibits a notably higher contact-ion pair ratio (14%) than the parent EC electrolyte (6%). Moreover, FEC itself, as a new fluorine-containing species, appears in 1/5 of the Li+ solvation shells. The Li+-coordinated FEC is found to reduce prior to EC and uncoordinated FEC which will passivate the anode surface at an early onset (ca. 0.3 V higher than EC) by forming LiF. The critical role of FEC in tailoring the Li+ solvation structure and as-formed protective SEI composition provides mechanistic insight that will aid in the rational design of novel electrolytes.

For ordered high-voltage spinel LiMn1.5Ni0.5O4 (LMNO) with the P4321 symmetry, the two consecutive two-phase transformations at ∼4.7 V (vs Li+/Li), involving three cubic phases of LMNO, Li0.5Mn1.5Ni0.5O4 (L0.5MNO), and Mn1.5Ni0.5O4 (MNO), have been well-established. Such a mechanism is traditionally associated with poor kinetics due to the slow movement of the phase boundaries and the large mechanical strain resulting from the volume changes among the phases, yet ordered LMNO has been shown to have excellent rate capability. In this study, we show the ability of the phases to dissolve into each other and determine their solubility limit. We characterized the properties of the formed solid solutions and investigated the role of non-equilibrium single-phase redox processes during the charge and discharge of LMNO. By using an array of advanced analytical techniques, such as soft and hard X-ray spectroscopy, transmission X-ray microscopy, and neutron/X-ray diffraction, as well as bond valence sum analysis, the present study examines the metastable nature of solid-solution phases and provides new insights in enabling cathode materials that are thermodynamically unstable.

Burnt sugarcane bagasse powder (SCBP), with its low density, accessibility, and renewal, is an economically reinforcing material. This study fabricated composites, i. e., aluminium/alumina/burnt sugarcane bagasse powder, through the powder metallurgy route. The physical, mechanical, microscopic, and chemical characterization of the composites, such as relative density, microhardness, uniaxial compression, scanning electron microscopy, and x‐ray diffraction, has been conducted. There is a gain in relative density, microhardness and ultimate compression strength of about 2.25 %, 48.07 % and 33.34 % respectively, compared to the base composite (aluminium/4 wt.‐% alumina) at 3 wt.‐% burnt sugarcane bagasse powder. The Taguchi methodology is used as a statistical tool to optimise the response variables. An analysis of variance (ANOVA) is used to find the contribution of input parameters to response variables, and the regression models have been developed. The contribution of factors 'burnt sugarcane bagasse powder wt.‐%' and 'time' on relative density is 81.65 % and 13.64 %, respectively, while the contribution of the same factors on microhardness is 95.98 % and 3.377 %, respectively. The results of the Taguchi method reveal that the optimised conditions for the highest relative density and microhardness are 3 wt.‐% burnt sugarcane bagasse powder and 2.5 h, which have confirmed the experimental results. Endometriosis is presence of functioning endometrial tissue outside the uterine cavity, usually in the pelvis. However, its occurrence is very rare (0.03%-0.4%) in the scars which follow obstetrical and gynaecological surgeries. We are reporting two cases of scar endometriosis which occurred after caesarean sections. Both cases presented with abdominal pain at caesarean scar sites, one of which gave a cyclical history. Clinical examination revealed painful swellings in both cases, which were misdiagnosed as stitch granulomas. Wide surgical excisions were done and histopathology examination revealed a diagnosis of scar endometriosis. We are presenting these cases because of their rarity, their uncommon sites and difficulty in diagnosing the conditions clinically.
