The disease diagnosis is confirmed in only a small proportion of patients with radiological findings suspicious for nontuberculous mycobacteria pulmonary disease. Thus, many patients remained undiagnosed. Here, we evaluated the diagnostic value of digital polymerase chain reaction (PCR) in nontuberculous mycobacteria pulmonary disease.Methods: We prospectively evaluated 123 patients with radiological findings suspicious for nontuberculous mycobacteria pulmonary disease. Digital PCR was performed using bronchial lavage fluid, sputum, saliva, blood, and urine.Results: The culture of bronchial washing fluid was positive for nontuberculous mycobacteria in 53 patients and negative in 70. The positive detection rate of nontuberculous mycobacteria by digital PCR in patients with positive culture (n = 53) was as follows: bronchial lavage fluid 100%, sputum 62.9%, saliva 41.5%, blood 7.5%, and urine 3.8%. All patients with two or more positive partitions for nontuberculous mycobacteria in the digital PCR of bronchial lavage fluid showed nontuberculous mycobacteria growth in the bronchial lavage fluid culture. The digital PCR analysis of the bronchial lavage fluid showed a high sensitivity (100%), specificity (85.7%), positive predictive value (84.1%), negative predictive value (100%), and a high concordance rate (91.9%) with the bronchial lavage fluid culture results. In addition, the culture of bronchial lavage fluid was positive for nontuberculous mycobacteria in patients with two or more positive partitions in the digital PCR of sputum and saliva with a combined positive predictive value of 81.1%.Conclusion: Digital PCR analysis of nontuberculous mycobacteria in bronchial lavage fluid shows a high concordance rate with the bronchial lavage fluid culture results and a high positive predictive value using both sputum and saliva, suggesting the potential usefulness of dPCR for diagnosis of nontuberculous mycobacteria pulmonary disease in clinical practice.Keywords: digital PCR, nontuberculous mycobacteria pulmonary disease, diagnosis, bronchial lavage fluid culture, bronchoscopy

The addition of preventive healthcare programs to nationwide specific health guidance in Japan is adapted in a given region.Patients and Methods: We conducted a prospective parallel-group comparison study on 195 eligible residents from Takahata, Japan, with a high risk of lifestyle-related diseases from 2014 to 2017 to examine whether such an intervention could improve the body mass index (BMI) and estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR).Results: Of the 195 enrolled residents, 117 were assigned to the control group and 78 to the intervention group. They were ≤ 65 years old and had a BMI ≥ 25 kg/m2 and an eGFR ≤ 90 mL/kg/1.73 m2. We conducted certain interventions for each group, including additional blood testing, regular health guidance, and specific health guidance. After one year, neither BMI (intervention: 26.7 ± 2.17 kg/m2 vs control: 27.3 ± 2.12 kg/m2, p = 0.076) nor eGFR (intervention: 72.2 ± 11.1 mL/kg/1.73 m2 vs control: 73.1 ± 10.5 mL/kg/1.73 m2, p = 0.608) differed significantly between groups. However, after three years, the BMI in the intervention group (26.4 ± 2.05 kg/m2) was significantly reduced compared to that in the control group (27.4 ± 2.26 kg/m2; p = 0.005).Conclusion: The additional interventions might have contributed to a reduction in metabolic syndrome.Trial Registration: This study was registered in the UMIN-Clinical Trials Registry (ID:000013581). Abstract: It is widely accepted that the surface potential of the lunar dayside is "on average" several to 10 V positive due to photoelectron emission in addition to the solar wind plasma precipitation. Recent studies, however, have shown that an insulating and rough regolith layer tends to make positive and negative charges separated and irregularly distributed on sub-Debye-length scales. The local charge separation then gives rise to an intense and structured electrostatic field. Such micro-scale electrostatic structures lie in the innermost part of the photoelectron sheath and may contribute to the mobilization of the charged dust particles. Since the electrostatic structures can take different states depending on the topography of the lunar surface, it is necessary to update the research approach. We have launched a research group to develop an integrated assessment framework that includes theoretical and numerical modeling, on-orbit observations, ground-based testing, and the development of charging measurement instruments, with the ultimate goal of comprehensively understanding the surface charging processes on the Moon.

Abstract: The strength distributions of the Isoscalar Giant Monopole Resonance (ISGMR) and Isoscalar Giant Quadrupole Resonance (ISGQR) in 142,146-150Nd have been determined via inelastic alpha-particle scattering with the Grand Raiden (GR) Spectrometer at the Research Center for Nuclear Physics (RCNP), Japan. In the deformed nuclei 146-150Nd, the ISGMR strength distributions exhibit a splitting into two components, while the nearly spherical nucleus 142Nd displays a single peak in the ISGMR strength distribution. We assessed the expected incidence rates of leukemia, malignant lymphoma, and multiple myeloma using national population estimates and data from the Kanagawa Cancer Registry.Patients and Methods: To evaluate the effects of community aging, we compared expected future incidences of hematological malignancies in Kanagawa with other three areas, namely the Yamagata, Osaka, and Nagasaki prefectures, which have different populations and predicted aging rates.Results: The total number of patients newly diagnosed with hematological malignancy in Kanagawa in 2010 was 1970. This was predicted to increase to 2581 by 2025 and to 2712 by 2040. Trends were very similar for all three hematological malignancies. These incidence rates were predicted to increase continuously in patients aged ≥ 65 years from 2010 to 2040, with a 169% increase in leukemia, a 167% increase in malignant lymphoma, and a 169% increase in multiple myeloma. A continuous increase in the population aged ≥ 65 years was also noted in the other three prefectures.Conclusion: The distribution demographic of patients with hematological malignancies is expected to change in the future as the number of elderly patients increases.Keywords: leukemia, myeloma, lymphoma, aging, hematopoietic stem cell transplantation

The primary outcome was the absence of postoperative FUTI (clinical success). The secondary outcome was improvement in reflux to grade 0–I on postoperative voiding cystourethrography (radiographic success).Results: Five and 7 children had bilateral and unilateral reflux, respectively. Reflux was categorized as grade II, III, and IV reflux in 2, 12, and 3 ureters, respectively. Seven of 10 (70%) toilet-trained children had bladder-bowel dysfunction (BBD) preoperatively. The SMHIT was performed for all patients, after which BBD improved. The mean postoperative follow-up period was 6 years and 9 months. The clinical success rate was 100%. Radiographic success was achieved in 16/17 ureters (94%) at 3– 4 months, 17/17 (100%) ureters at 1 year, and 17/17 (100%) ureters at 3 years postoperatively. Major complications did not develop postoperatively.Conclusion: When prioritizing treatment of concomitant BBD in children with primary VUR and avoiding dextranomer/hyaluronic acid injection therapy in contraindicated children according to the Food and Drug Administration recommendations, a single-session of SMHIT may be as effective and safe in the mid-term as performing open anti-reflux surgery.Keywords: dextranomer hyaluronic acid, Dx/HA, endoscopic treatment, vesicoureteral reflux

This strain demonstrated nonsusceptible to all tested antibiotics, including last-line antibiotics such as carbapenems (MICs ≥128 μg/mL) and colistin (MIC =32 μg/mL), except tigecycline (MIC =1 μg/mL). Whole-genome analysis using both MinION and MiSeq data revealed that the strain carried 29 resistance genes. Particularly, mcr-1 and blaNDM-4 genes were carried by different self-conjugative plasmids and able to be transferred to a recipient by conjugation. The colistin resistance of this strain was conferred by mcr-1 and additional chromosomal resistance determinants. Eight amino acid substitutions found in PmrA, PmrB, PmrC, PmrI, and PmrJ, all proteins that are involved in lipopolysaccharide modifications, may be associated with chromosomal colistin resistance. 9. Synthesis and antitumor activity of novel pyridinium fullerene derivatives

However, they are bis-adducts and a mixture of multiple regioisomers, which cannot be readily separated due to the variability of substituent positions on the fullerene cage. To overcome this issue, we evaluated the antiproliferative activities of a set of mono-adduct derivatives and examined their structure-activity relationship. In addition, the in vivo antitumor activity of selected derivatives was also examined.Methods: Nineteen pyridinium fullerene derivatives were newly designed and synthesized in this study. Their antiproliferative activities were evaluated using several cancer cell lines including drug-resistant cells. Furthermore, in vivo antitumor activity of several derivatives was investigated in mouse xenograft model of human lung cancer.Results: The derivatives inhibited the proliferation of cancer cell lines, including cisplatin-resistant cells and doxorubicin-resistant cells. It was also shown that compound 10 (10 μM), 13 (10 μM) and cis-14 (10 μM) induced the intracellular oxidative stress. In addition, compound 13 (20 mg/kg) and cis-14 (15 mg/kg) significantly exhibited antitumor activity in mouse xenograft model of human lung cancer.Conclusion: We synthesized a novel set of mono-adduct fullerene derivatives functionalized with pyridinium groups and found that most of them show potent antiproliferative activities against cancer cell lines and some of them show significant antitumor activities in vivo. The complete genome of strain PIMB10EC27 was sequenced by PacBio RSII and the Illumina Miseq system. Whole-genome analysis revealed that PIMB10EC27 contains a chromosome of the ST513 group (PIMBEC27, length 5,272,177 bp) and two plasmids, pEC27-1 of the IncX3 group (length 62,470 bp) and pEC27-2 of the IncHI1 group (length 84,602 bp). It also revealed that strain PIMB10EC27 carries 15 genes that confer resistance to at least 10 antibiotic groups. Particularly, the insertion of ISKpn19 and Tn6901 into the genomic context of blaNDM-1 was first identified and described. Abstract: Measurements of circular polarization of $\gamma$-ray emitted from neutron capture reactions provide valuable information for nuclear physics studies. The spin and parity of excited states can be determined by measuring the circular polarization from polarized neutron capture reactions. Furthermore, the $\gamma$-ray circular polarization in a neutron capture resonance is crucial for studying the enhancement effect of parity nonconservation in compound nuclei. The $\gamma$-ray circular polarization can be measured using a polarimeter based on magnetic Compton scattering. A polarimeter was constructed, and its performance indicators were evaluated using a circularly polarized $\gamma$-ray beam. Abstract: In 2018, the E12-17-003 experiment was conducted at the Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility (JLab) to explore the possible existence of an nnLambda state in the reconstructed missing mass distribution from a tritium gas target [K. N. Suzuki et al., Prog. Theor. Exp. Phys. 2022, 013D01 (2022), B. Pandey et al., Phys. Rev. C 105, L051001 (2022)]. As part of this investigation, data was also collected using a gaseous hydrogen target, not only for a precise absolute mass scale calibration but also for the study of Lambda/Sigma^0 electroproduction. This dataset was acquired at Q^2~0.5 (GeV/c)^2, W=2.14 GeV, and theta_{gamma K}^{c.m.}~8 deg. It covers forward angles where photoproduction data is scarce and a low-Q^2 region that is of interest for hypernuclear experiments. On the other hand, this kinematic region is at a slightly higher Q^2 than previous hypernuclear experiments, thus providing crucial information for understanding the Q^2 dependence of the differential cross sections for Lambda/Sigma^0 hyperon electroproduction. Abstract: JLab E12-19-002 Experiment is planned to measure the Λ-binding energies of 3ΛH [Jπ = 1/2+ or 3/2+(T = 0)] and 4ΛH (1+) at JLab Hall C. The expected accuracy for the binding-energy measurement is |ΔBtotal Λ | ≃ 70 keV. The accurate spectroscopy for these light hypernuclei would shed light on the puzzle of the small binding energy and short lifetime of 3ΛH, and the chargesymmetry breaking in the ΛN interaction. Abstract: Missing-mass spectroscopy with the 3H(e, e′K+) reaction was carried out at Jefferson Lab’s (JLab) Hall A in Oct–Nov, 2018. The differential cross section for the 3H(γ∗, K+)Λnn was deduced at ω = Ee − Ee′ = 2.102 GeV and at the forward K+-scattering angle (0° ≤ θγ∗K ≤ 5°) in the laboratory frame. Given typical predicted energies and decay widths, which are (BΛ, Γ) = (−0.25, 0.8) and (−0.55, 4.7) MeV, the cross sections were found to be 11.2 ± 4.8(stat.)+4.1−2.1(sys.) and 18.1 ± 6.8(stat.)+4.2−2.9(sys.) nb/sr, respectively. The obtained result would impose a constraint for interaction models particularly between Λ and neutron by comparing to theoretical calculations.

Abstract: We performed an experiment using tritium and hydrogen cryogenic gas targets at Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility (JLab) in 2018 (E12-17-003)[1, 2]. In this article, we discuss the Λ/Σ0 hyperon electroproduction from hydrogen target. Elementary Λ/Σ0 hyperon production processes are important not only for an absolute mass scale calibration in our experiment, but also for the study of the electroproduction mechanisms themselves. 18. Global coupled-channel analysis of $e^+e^-\to c\bar{c}$ processes in $\sqrt{s}=3.75-4.7$ GeV

Abstract: Recent high-precision $e^+e^-\to c\bar{c}$ data from the BESIII and Belle are highly useful to understand the vector charmonium pole structure and puzzling lineshapes due to the exotic hadron candidates $Y$. We thus conduct a global coupled-channel analysis of most of the available data (9 two-body, 9 three-body, and 1 four-body final states) in $\sqrt{s}=3.75-4.7$ GeV. Not only cross sections but also invariant mass distributions of subsystems are fitted. Our model includes dozens of (quasi) two-body states that nonperturbatively couple with each other through bare charmonium excitations and particle-exchange mechanisms required by the three-body unitarity. The amplitudes obtained from the fits are analytically continued to vector charmonium and $Z_c$ poles. We do not find a $\psi(4160)$ pole that has been considered well-established. Instead, we find two poles of $\sim 4230$ MeV; $\psi(4230)$ with $\Gamma= 36$ MeV and a broader one with $\Gamma= 114$ MeV. Two $Z_c$ poles are found as virtual states $\sim 40$ MeV below the $D^*\bar{D}^{(*)}$ thresholds, being consistent with lattice QCD results. 19. Three-body unitary coupled-channel approach to radiative $J/\psi$ decays and $\eta(1405/1475)$

Abstract: Recent BESIII data on radiative $J/\psi$ decays from $\sim 10^{10}$ $J/\psi$ samples should significantly advance our understanding of the controversial nature of $\eta(1405/1475)$. This motivates us to develop a three-body unitary coupled-channel model for radiative $J/\psi$ decays to three-meson final states of any partial wave ($J^{PC}$). Basic building blocks of the model are bare resonance states such as $\eta(1405/1475)$ and $f_1(1420)$, and $\pi K$, $K\bar{K}$, and $\pi\eta$ two-body interactions that generate resonances such as $K^*(892)$, $K^*_0(700)$, and $a_0(980)$. This model reasonably fits $K_SK_S\pi^0$ Dalitz plot pseudo data generated from the BESIII's $J^{PC}=0^{-+}$ amplitude for $J/\psi\to\gamma K_SK_S\pi^0$. The experimental branching ratios of $\eta(1405/1475)\to\eta\pi\pi$ and $\eta(1405/1475)\to\gamma\rho$ relative to that of $\eta(1405/1475)\to K\bar{K}\pi$ are simultaneously fitted. Our $0^{-+}$ amplitude is analytically continued to find three poles, two of which correspond to $\eta(1405)$ on different Riemann sheets of the $K^*\bar{K}$ channel, and the third one for $\eta(1475)$. This is the first pole determination of $\eta(1405/1475)$ and, furthermore, the first-ever pole determination from analyzing experimental Dalitz plot distributions with a manifestly three-body unitary coupled-channel framework. Process-dependent $\eta\pi\pi$, $\gamma\pi^+\pi^-$, and $\pi\pi\pi$ lineshapes of $J/\psi\to\gamma(0^{-+})\to \gamma(\eta\pi\pi)$, $\gamma(\gamma\rho)$, and $\gamma(\pi\pi\pi)$ are predicted, and are in reasonable agreement with data. 20. Threshold-cusp explanation for $X$ and $Z_{cs}$ in $B^+\to J/\psi\phi K^+$

Abstract: Several $X$ and $Z_{cs}$ exotic hadrons were claimed in the LHCb's amplitude analysis on $B^+\to J/\psi \phi K^+$. The data shows that all the peaks and also dips in the spectra are located at thresholds of seemingly relevant meson-meson channels. While the LHCb analysis fitted the peaks with Breit-Wigner resonances, threshold kinematical cusps might be the cause of such structures. We thus analyze the LHCb data considering the threshold cusps. Our model is simultaneously fitted to $J/\psi \phi$, $J/\psi K^+$, and $K^+\phi$ invariant mass distributions. The threshold cusps fit well all the $X$, $Z_{cs}$, and dip structures. Our analysis indicates that spin-parity of the $X(4274)$ and $X(4500)$ structures are $0^-$ and $1^-$, respectively. This is different from the LHCb's spin-parity assignments ($1^+$ and $0^+$). The number of fitting parameters can be significantly reduced by considering the relevant threshold cusps. Our analysis shows that $D_s^{(*)}\bar{D}^{*}$ scattering lengths are consistent with zero. Dalteparin/protamine nanoparticles (D/P NPs) can effectively carry growth factors (GFs) such as fibroblast GF (FGF)-2. The purpose of this study was to identify the effects of FGF-2-containing D/P NPs (FGF-2&D/P NPs) on hair growth.Patients and methods: In this study, the participants were 12 volunteers with thin hair. One milliliter of FGF-2 (100 ng/mL) and D/P NPs (56 μg/mL) was applied and massaged on the skin of the scalp by the participants twice a day. They were evaluated for 6 months. Participants were photographed using a digital camera for general observation and a hair diagnosis system for measuring hair diameter.Results: The mean diameter of the hairs was significantly higher following the application of FGF-2&D/P NPs for 6 months. Objective improvements in thin hair were observed in two cases. Nine participants experienced greater bounce and hair resilience.Conclusion: The transdermal application of FGF-2&D/P NPs to the scalp can be used as a new treatment for alopecia. Abstract: This document presents the initial scientific case for upgrading the Continuous Electron Beam Accelerator Facility (CEBAF) at Jefferson Lab (JLab) to 22 GeV. It is the result of a community effort, incorporating insights from a series of workshops conducted between March 2022 and April 2023. With a track record of over 25 years in delivering the world's most intense and precise multi-GeV electron beams, CEBAF's potential for a higher energy upgrade presents a unique opportunity for an innovative nuclear physics program, which seamlessly integrates a rich historical background with a promising future. The proposed physics program encompass a diverse range of investigations centered around the nonperturbative dynamics inherent in hadron structure and the exploration of strongly interacting systems. It builds upon the exceptional capabilities of CEBAF in high-luminosity operations, the availability of existing or planned Hall equipment, and recent advancements in accelerator technology. The proposed program cover various scientific topics, including Hadron Spectroscopy, Partonic Structure and Spin, Hadronization and Transverse Momentum, Spatial Structure, Mechanical Properties, Form Factors and Emergent Hadron Mass, Hadron-Quark Transition, and Nuclear Dynamics at Extreme Conditions, as well as QCD Confinement and Fundamental Symmetries. Each topic highlights the key measurements achievable at a 22 GeV CEBAF accelerator. Furthermore, this document outlines the significant physics outcomes and unique aspects of these programs that distinguish them from other existing or planned facilities. Oral or intravenous β-blockers are used as premedication for this purpose. Landiolol was developed as a β-blocker with very high cardioselectivity (β1/β2 =255) and short half-life (4 minutes). In this review, we report the pharmacological features and usage of landiolol and also its effects on heart rate and image quality in coronary CT angiography. 25. Impact of β-blocker selectivity on long-term outcomes in congestive heart failure patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease

For these reasons, the aim of this study was to evaluate the impact of β-blockers on the long-term outcomes in CHF patients with COPD. In addition, we compared the effects of two different β-blockers, carvedilol and bisoprolol. Methods: The study was a retrospective, non-randomized, single center trial. Acute decompensated HF patients with COPD were classified according to the oral drug used at discharge into β-blocker (n=86; carvedilol [n=52] or bisoprolol [n=34]) and non-β-blocker groups (n=46). The primary endpoint was all-cause mortality between the β-blocker and non-β-blocker groups during a mean clinical follow-up of 33.9 months. The secondary endpoints were the differences in all-cause mortality and the hospitalization rates for CHF and/or COPD exacerbation between patients receiving carvedilol and bisoprolol. Results: The mortality rate was higher in patients without β-blockers compared with those taking β-blockers (log-rank P=0.039), and univariate analyses revealed that the use of β-blockers was the only factor significantly correlated with the mortality rate (hazard ratio: 0.41; 95% confidence interval: 0.17–0.99; P=0.047). Moreover, the rate of CHF and/or COPD exacerbation was higher in patients treated with carvedilol compared with bisoprolol (log-rank P=0.033). In the multivariate analysis, only a past history of COPD exacerbation significantly increased the risk of re-hospitalization due to CHF and/or COPD exacerbation (adjusted hazard ratio: 3.11; 95% confidence interval: 1.47–6.61; P=0.003). Conclusion: These findings support the recommendations to use β-blockers in HF patients with COPD. Importantly, bisoprolol reduced the incidence of CHF and/or COPD exacerbation compared with carvedilol. Keywords: mortality, selective β-blocker

Generally, it takes several months to manufacture an influenza vaccine by propagation of the virus in chicken eggs or cultured cells. Newer, faster protocols for the production of vaccines that induce broad-spectrum immunity are therefore highly desirable. We previously developed human monoclonal antibody B-1 that shows broadly neutralizing activity against influenza A virus H3N2. B-1 recognizes an epitope region that includes an antiparallel β-sheet structure underneath the receptor binding site of influenza hemagglutinin (HA). In this study, the efficacy of a synthetic peptide vaccine derived from this epitope region against influenza A was evaluated. Materials and methods: Two peptides were synthesized, the upper and lower peptides. These peptides comprise amino acid residues 167–187 and 225–241, respectively, of the B-1 epitope region of HA, which is involved in forming the β-sheet structure. Both peptides were then coupled to keyhole limpet hemocyanin, and the peptides, alone or in combination, were used to immunize rabbits. The resulting antibody responses were examined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. The upper peptide, but not the lower peptide, elicited antibodies that were reactive to HA. Interestingly, the use of both peptides together could elicit antibodies with a higher reactivity to HA than either peptide alone. The antibodies were found to react to HA at the N-terminus of the upper peptide, which is exposed at the surface of trimeric HA on influenza virions. Discussion: The higher production of HA-reactive antibodies following immunization with both peptides suggests that the upper peptide forms the effective epitope structure in the binding state, and the lower peptide enhances the production of HA antibodies. This study could be the first step towards the development of pandemic viral vaccines that can be produced within short time periods. The novel device holds the eyelids between the rings, and a hole in the center of the device provides a surgical field. We used the novel device in cataract surgery (75 eyes), glaucoma surgery (eleven eyes), vitrectomy (ten eyes), and intravitreal injection (six eyes) and evaluated its clinical efficacy.Results: The LiDrape was easy to attach and detach. The novel device was not detached from the eye during surgery. No eyelashes or secretions from the meibomian glands were seen in the surgical field, and the drape provided a sufficient surgical field.Conclusions: The LiDrape functions as a lid speculum as well as a drape. 29. Three-Body Unitary Coupled-Channel Analysis on $\eta(1405/1475)$

Abstract: The recent BESIII data on $J/\psi\to\gamma(K_SK_S\pi^0)$, which is significantly more precise than earlier $\eta(1405/1475)$-related data, enables quantitative discussions on $\eta(1405/1475)$ at the previously unreachable level. We conduct a three-body unitary coupled-channel analysis of experimental Monte-Carlo outputs for radiative $J/\psi$ decays via $\eta(1405/1475)$: $K_SK_S\pi^0$ Dalitz plot distributions from the BESIII, and branching ratios of $\gamma(\eta\pi^+\pi^-)$ and $\gamma(\gamma\pi^+\pi^-)$ final states relative to that of $\gamma(K\bar{K}\pi)$. Our model systematically considers (multi-)loop diagrams and an associated triangle singularity, which is critical in making excellent predictions on $\eta(1405/1475)\to \pi\pi\pi$ lineshapes and branching ratios. The $\eta(1405/1475)$ pole locations are revealed for the first time. Two poles for $\eta(1405)$ are found on different Riemann sheets of the $K^*\bar{K}$ channel, while one pole for $\eta(1475)$. The $\eta(1405/1475)$ states are described with two bare states dressed by continuum states. Abstract: A high-precision hypernuclear experiment has been performed at the Mainz Microtron (MAMI) to determine the hypertriton {\Lambda} binding energy via decay-pion spectroscopy. A key element of this measurement is an accurate calibration of the magnetic spectrometers with the MAMI beam. For such an absolute calibration with small statistical and systematic uncertainties the undulator light interference method will be applied. We report a case of non-pigmented adenoma of the RPE initially diagnosed as choroidal hemangioma.Case report: A 42-year-old woman presented to Kurume University Hospital in November 1992 with an orange-yellow tumor nasal to the optic disc in the left fundus. The tumor was 9.0 × 9.0 mm in diameter, 6.0 mm thick, and was characterized by high intensity on T1-weighted magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), low intensity on T2-weighted MRI, and enhancement on gadolinium MRI. Fluorescein angiography revealed early hypofluorescence and late hyperfluorescence of the tumor and retinal feeder vessels. By April 1996, exudate had developed around the tumor margins. The patient was treated with external beam radiation therapy (20 Gy) in July 1996, but the tumor did not diminish in size. Subsequently, she developed extensive loss of vision due to total retinal detachment. Accordingly, her left eye was enucleated in June 2005 because of severe ocular pain due to absolute glaucoma. Histopathological examination indicated that the tumor was contiguous with the normal surrounding RPE and was composed of cords and tubules of mostly non-pigmented spindle-shaped cells with round to oval nuclei and a small amount of cytoplasm containing melanin granules. The tumor cells were immunoreactive for vimentin, S-100 protein, and cytokeratin 18. The final diagnosis was adenoma of the RPE.Conclusion: Adenoma of the retinal pigment epithelium may be associated with incompetent vessels leading to serous retinal detachment and extensive visual loss, and may exhibit clinical characteristics similar to choroidal hemangioma.Keywords: adenoma, choroidal hemangioma, histopathology, retinal pigment epithelium

Small intestinal samples without malignancy were donated by five patients who had undergone bladder tumor surgery, and homogenates were prepared to measure disaccharidase activity. Adult rat homogenates were prepared using small intestine.Results: Maltase activity was the highest among the five disaccharidases, followed by sucrase and then palatinase in humans and rats. Trehalase activity was slightly lower than that of palatinase in humans and was similar to that of sucrase in rats. Lactase activity was the lowest in humans, but was similar to that of palatinase in rats. Thus, the hydrolyzing activity of five disaccharidases was generally similar in humans and rats. The relative activity of sucrose and palatinase versus maltase was generally similar between humans and rats. The ratio of rat to human hydrolyzing activity of maltase, sucrase, and palatinase was 1.9–3.1, but this was not a significant difference. Leaf extract from Morus alba strongly inhibited the activity of maltase, sucrase, and palatinase, but not trehalase and lactase, and the degree of inhibition was similar in humans and rats. L-arabinose mildly inhibited sucrase activity, but hardly inhibited the activity of maltase, palatinase, trehalase and lactase in humans and rats. The digestibility of 1-kestose, galactosylsucrose, and panose by small intestinal enzymes was very similar between humans and rats.Conclusion: These results demonstrate that the digestibility of newly developed saccharide materials evaluated by rat small intestinal enzymes can substitute for evaluation using human enzymes.Keywords: disaccharidase, maltase, sucrase, trehalase, palatinase, digestibility

Abstract: Various WIMP dark matter searches using the full data set of XMASS-I, a single-phase liquid xenon detector, are reported in this paper. Stable XMASS-I data taking accumulated a total live time of 1590.9 days between November 20, 2013 and February 1, 2019 with an analysis threshold of ${\rm 1.0\,keV_{ee}}$. In the latter half of data taking a lower analysis threshold of ${\rm 0.5\,keV_{ee}}$ was also available through a new low threshold trigger. Searching for a WIMP signal in the detector's 97~kg fiducial volume yielded a limit on the WIMP-nucleon scattering cross section of ${\rm 1.4\times 10^{-44}\, cm^{2}}$ for a ${\rm 60\,GeV/c^{2}}$ WIMP at the 90$\%$ confidence level. We also searched for WIMP induced annual modulation signatures in the detector's whole target volume, containing 832~kg of liquid xenon. For nuclear recoils of a ${\rm 8\,GeV/c^{2}}$ WIMP this analysis yielded a 90\% CL cross section limit of ${\rm 2.3\times 10^{-42}\, cm^{2}}$. At a WIMP mass of ${\rm 0.5\, GeV/c^{2}}$ the Migdal effect and Bremsstrahlung signatures were evaluated and lead to 90\% CL cross section limits of ${\rm 1.4\times 10^{-35}\, cm^{2}}$ and ${\rm 1.1\times 10^{-33}\, cm^{2}}$ respectively.

35. Pole determination of $P_{\psi s}^\Lambda(4338)$ and possible $P_{\psi s}^\Lambda(4255)$ in $B^-\to J/\psi\Lambda\bar{p}$

Abstract: First hidden-charm pentaquark candidate with strangeness, $P_{\psi s}^\Lambda(4338)$, was recently discovered in $B^-\to J/\psi\Lambda\bar{p}$ by the LHCb Collaboration. $P_{\psi s}^\Lambda(4338)$ shows up as a bump at the $\Xi_c\bar{D}$ threshold in the $J/\psi\Lambda$ invariant mass ($M_{J/\psi\Lambda}$) distribution. The $M_{J/\psi\Lambda}$ distribution also shows a large fluctuation at the $\Lambda_c\bar{D}_s$ threshold, hinting the existence of a possible $P_{\psi s}^\Lambda(4255)$. In this work, we determine the $P_{\psi s}^\Lambda(4338)$ and $P_{\psi s}^\Lambda(4255)$ pole positions for the first time. For this purpose, we fit a $B^-\to J/\psi\Lambda\bar{p}$ model to the $M_{J/\psi\Lambda}$, $M_{J/\psi\bar{p}}$, $M_{\Lambda\bar{p}}$, and $\cos\theta_{K^*}$ distributions from the LHCb simultaneously; $\chi^2/{\rm ndf}\sim 1.21$. Then we extract $P_{\psi s}^\Lambda$ poles from a unitary $\Xi_c\bar{D}$-$\Lambda_c\bar{D}_s$ coupled-channel scattering amplitude built in the model. In our default fit, the $P_{\psi s}^\Lambda(4338)$ pole is found at $( 4338.2\pm 1.4)-( 1.9\pm 0.5 )\,i$ MeV while the $P_{\psi s}^\Lambda(4255)$ pole at $4254.7\pm 0.4$ MeV. The $P_{\psi s}^\Lambda(4338)$ and $P_{\psi s}^\Lambda(4255)$ are mostly $\Xi_c \bar{D}$ bound and $\Lambda_c\bar{D}_s$ virtual states, respectively. Through our analysis, the data disfavors a hypothesis of $P_{\psi s}^\Lambda(4338)$ as merely a kinematical effect. Abstract: A new data acquisition system (DAQ system) has been developed at the Accurate Neutron-Nucleus Reaction Measurement Instrument (ANNRI) facility in the Japan Proton Accelerator Research Complex, Materials and Life Science Experimental Facility (J-PARC/MLF). DAQ systems for both the Ge detector system and the Li-glass detector system were tested by using a gold sample. The applicability of the time-of-flight method was checked. System performance was evaluated on the basis of digital conversion nonlinearity, energy resolution, multi-channel coincidence and dead time.

Abstract: A search for the neutrinoless quadruple beta decay of $^{136}$Xe was conducted with the liquid-xenon detector XMASS-I using $\rm 327\; kg \times 800.0 \; days$ of the exposure. The pulse shape discrimination based on the scintillation decay time constant which distinguishes $\gamma$-rays including the signal and $\beta$-rays was used to enhance the search sensitivity. No significant signal excess was observed from the energy spectrum fitting with precise background evaluation, and we set a lower limit of the half life of 3.7 $\times$ 10$^{24}$ years at 90$\%$ confidence level. This is the first experimental constraint of the neutrinoless quadruple beta decay of $^{136}$Xe.

Abstract: The nature of dark matter and properties of neutrinos are among the most pressing issues in contemporary particle physics. The dual-phase xenon time-projection chamber is the leading technology to cover the available parameter space for Weakly Interacting Massive Particles (WIMPs), while featuring extensive sensitivity to many alternative dark matter candidates. These detectors can also study neutrinos through neutrinoless double-beta decay and through a variety of astrophysical sources. A next-generation xenon-based detector will therefore be a true multi-purpose observatory to significantly advance particle physics, nuclear physics, astrophysics, solar physics, and cosmology. Abstract: A database is under construction to provide a complete collection of published basic properties of hypernuclei such as {\Lambda} binding energies, lifetimes, or excitation energies. From these values, averages with related errors are computed in a systematic way. For each property, the overall experimental situation is depicted in form of an ideogram showing the combined probability density function of the measurements. Abstract: Negatively charged pions from two-body decays of stopped Λ4H hypernuclei were studied in 2012 at the Mainz Microtron MAMI, Germany. The momenta of the decay-pions were measured with unprecedented precision by using high-resolution magnetic spectrometers. A challenge of the experiment was the tagging of kaons from associated K+∧ production off a Be target at very forward angles. In the year 2014, this experiment was continued with a better control of the systematic uncertainties, with better suppression of coincident and random background, improved particle identification, and with higher luminosities. Another key point of the progress was the improvement in the absolute momentum calibration of the magnetic spectrometers.

Abstract: Charge-changing cross sections $\sigma_\mathrm{CC}$ for $^{42\textrm{--}51}$Ca on a carbon target at around 280~MeV/nucleon have been measured. The measured $\sigma_\mathrm{CC}$ values differ significantly from the previously developed calculations based on the Glauber model. However, through introduction of the charged-particle evaporation effect induced by the neutron-removal reaction in addition to the Glauber-model calculation, experimental $\sigma_\mathrm{CC}$ values on $^{12}$C at around 300~MeV/nucleon for nuclides from C to Fe isotopes are all reproduced with approximately 1\% accuracy. This proposed model systematically reproduces $\sigma_\mathrm{CC}$ data without phenomenological corrections, and can also explain experimental $\sigma_\mathrm{CC}$ values obtained in other energy regions., Comment: 13 pages, 11 figures

Abstract: The small binding energy of the hypertrition leads to predictions of non-existence of bound hypernuclei for isotriplet three-body systems such as $nn\Lambda$. However, invariant mass spectroscopy at GSI has reported events that may be interpreted as the bound $nn\Lambda$ state. The $nn\Lambda$ state was sought by missing-mass spectroscopy via the $(e,e'K^+)$ reaction at Jefferson Lab's experimental Hall A. The present experiment has higher sensitivity to the $nn\Lambda$-state investigation in terms of better precision by a factor of about three. The analysis shown in this article focuses on the derivation of the reaction cross-section for the $^3{\rm{H}}(\gamma^{*},K^+)\textrm{X}$ reaction. Events that were detected in an acceptance, where a Monte Carlo simulation could reproduce the data well ($|\delta p/p| < 4\%$), were analyzed to minimize the systematic uncertainty. No significant structures were observed with the acceptance cuts, and the upper limits of the production cross-section of the $nn\Lambda$ state were obtained to be $21$ and $31~\rm{nb/sr}$ at the $90\%$ confidence level when theoretical predictions of $(-B_{\Lambda}, \Gamma) = (0.25,0.8)$ and $(0.55, 4.7)$ MeV, respectively, were assumed. Abstract: The recent LHCb data on $B_s^0\to J/\psi p\bar{p}$ revealed a new pentaquark-like $P_c(4337)^+$ structure, while finding no evidence for $P_c(4312)^+$ discovered earlier in $\Lambda_b^0\to J/\psi p K^-$. Though puzzling, the data actually offer an important hint to understand the nature of the pentaquark candidates. We develop a model to analyze the $B_s^0\to J/\psi p\bar{p}$ data. We find that a $\Sigma_c\bar{D}$ one-loop mechanism causes a threshold cusp that fits well the $P_c(4337)^+$ peak. Also, the $\Sigma_c\bar{D}$ and $\Lambda_c\bar{D}^{*}$ threshold cusps interfere with each other to reproduce an oscillating behavior in the proton helicity angle distribution. These results combined with our earlier analysis on $\Lambda_b^0\to J/\psi p K^-$ indicate that $P_c(4312)^+$ and $P_c(4337)^+$ are created by different interference patterns between the $\Sigma_c\bar{D}$ and $\Lambda_c\bar{D}^{*}$ (anomalous) threshold cusps. The proposed scenario consistently explains why the $P_c(4312)^+$ and $P_c(4337)^+$ peaks appear in $\Lambda_b^0\to J/\psi p K^-$ and $B_s^0\to J/\psi p\bar{p}$, respectively, but not vice versa or both., Comment: 7 pages, 4 figures; (v2) published version, title changed, one paragraph added in Sec. 2, references added

Abstract: Electric quadrupolar state in a frustrated quantum magnet $\rm Tb_{2+\it \delta}Ti_{2-\it \delta}O_7$ has been studied by means of ultrasonic and magnetostriction measurements. A single crystal showed elastic anomaly at about 0.4 K, manifesting a long-range quadrupole ordering. By investigating anisotropy of the magnetoelastic responses, we found a crossover temperature for the strongly correlated quadrupole state, below which the experimental data of elastic constant and magnetostriction become qualitatively different from their calculations based on a single-ion model. We suppose that relatively high onset temperature of the quadrupole correlation compared with the transition temperature is ascribed to the geometrical frustration effect, and this correlated state seems to be responsible for the unusual properties in the paramagentic state of $\rm Tb_2Ti_2O_7$., Comment: 9 pages, 9 figures

Abstract: 61Ni(n, γ) cross-section has been measured at ANNRI, using the TOF method. ANNRI is an outstanding neutron facility based on spallation in MLF at J-PARC. In this cross-section measurement, we used HPGe detectors covering a substantial fraction of solid angle. In this paper, we focused the analysis on the capture rate to extract the corresponding cross-section. The dead-time correction, the overlapped neutrons correction and the background estimation were discussed.

48. Relationships between Superconductivity and Nematicity in FeSe$_{1-x}$Te$_x$ ($x=0-0.5$) Films Studied by Complex Conductivity Measurements

Abstract: We measured the complex conductivity, $\sigma$, of FeSe$_{1-x}$Te$_x$ ($x=0-0.5$) films in the superconducting state which show a drastic increase of the superconducting transition temperature, $T_\textrm{c}$, when the nematic order disappears. Since the magnetic penetration depth, $\lambda$ $(>$ 400 nm), of Fe(Se,Te) is longer than the typical thickness of the film ($\sim$100 nm), we combined the coplanar waveguide resonator and cavity perturbation techniques to evaluate both the real and imaginary parts of $\sigma$. Films with a nematic order showed a qualitatively different temperature dependence in penetration depth and quasiparticle scattering time when compared with those without nematic order, suggesting that nematic order influences the superconducting gap structure. Conversely, the proportionality between superfluid density, $n_\textrm{s}$ ($\propto\lambda^{-2}$), and $T_\textrm{c}$ was observed irrespective of the presence or absence of nematic order. This result indicates that the amount of superfluid has a stronger impact on the $T_\textrm{c}$ of Fe(Se,Te) than the presence or absence of nematic order. Combining these results with band dispersions calculated using density functional theory, we propose that the change of the Fermi surface associated with nematicity is the primary factor influencing the change of $T_\textrm{c}$ and the superconducting gap structure in Fe(Se,Te)., Comment: 21 pages, 8 figures

Abstract: We present a precise measurement of the cross section, proton and $\rm ^3He$ analyzing powers, and spin correlation coefficient $C_{y,y}$ for $p$-$\rm ^3He$ elastic scattering near 65 MeV, and a comparison with rigorous four-nucleon scattering calculations based on realistic nuclear potentials and a model with $\Delta$-isobar excitation. Clear discrepancies are seen in some of the measured observables in the regime around the cross section minimum. Theoretical predictions using scaling relations between the calculated cross section and the $\rm ^3 He$ binding energy are not successful in reproducing the data. Large sensitivity to the $NN$ potentials and rather small $\Delta$-isobar effects in the calculated cross section are noticed as different features from those in the deuteron-proton elastic scattering. The results obtained above indicate that $p$-$\rm ^3He$ scattering at intermediate energies is an excellent tool to explore nuclear interactions not accessible by three-nucleon scattering., Comment: 22 pages, 6 figures

Abstract: We present acoustic signatures of the electric quadrupolar degrees of freedom in the honeycomb-layer compound UNi$_4$B. The transverse ultrasonic mode $C_{66}$ shows softening below 30 K both in the paramagnetic phase and antiferromagnetic phases down to $\sim0.33$ K. Furthermore, we traced magnetic field-temperature phase diagrams up to 30 T and observed a highly anisotropic elastic response within the honeycomb layer. These observations strongly suggest that $\Gamma_6$(E$_{\rm 2g}$) electric quadrupolar degrees of freedom in localized $5f^2$ ($J = 4$) states are playing an important role in the magnetic toroidal dipole order and magnetic-field-induced phases of UNi$_4$B, and evidence some of the U ions remain in the paramagnetic state even if the system undergoes magnetic toroidal ordering., Comment: 6 pages, 4 figures + Supplemental Materials (11 pages, 9 figures)
