Academic stress is the most common mental state that medical students experience during their training period. To assess academic stress, to find out its determinants, to assess other sources of stress and to explore the various coping styles against academic stress adopted by students. Methods: It was a cross sectional study done among medical students from first to fourth year. Standard self-administered questionnaires were used to assess academic stress and coping behaviour. Mean age of the 400 participants was 20.3 ± 1.5 years. 166(41.5%) of them were males. The academic stress was found to be of mild, moderate and severe level among 68(17%), 309(77.3%) and 23(5.7%) participants respectively. Overall coping with stress was found to be poor, average and good among 15(3.8%), 380(95%) and 5(1.2%) participants respectively. Passive emotional (p = 0.054) and passive problem (p = 0.001) coping behaviours were significantly better among males. Active problem coping behaviour (p = 0.007) was significantly better among females. Active emotional coping behaviour did not vary significantly between genders (p = 0.54). Majority of the students preferred sharing their personal problems with parents 211(52.7%) followed by friends 202(50.5%). Binary logistic regression analysis found worrying about future (p = 0.023) and poor self-esteem (p = 0.026) to be independently associated with academic stress. Academic stress although a common finding among students, the coping style to deal with it, was good only in a few. The coping behaviours were not satisfactory particularly among male participants. Introduction A crash cart is the trolley for storing lifesaving equipment and drugs in a hospital. During an emergency situation, nurses are left with confusion and hurry in getting the emergency medication and equipment. Typically, the crash cart system remains locked until a code blue triage is initiated by the hospital. This lack of exposure leads to poor competency and confident in performing essential tasks during a code blue. A well-organized crash cart system can save a lot of time and confusion during an emergency, which in turn can save a life. Aim The aim of this study was to identify the knowledge and practice of internship students on emergency crash cart system and to find the correlation between knowledge and practices of nursing internship students on maintenance of emergency crash cart system. Materials and Methods A descriptive correlative research study was conducted among 93 nursing internship students tertiary care hospital, Mangaluru, Karnataka, India. The samples were selected by using purposive sampling techniques. Demographic proforma, structured knowledge questionnaire on knowledge regarding emergency crash cart system with 32 items was used to determine the level of knowledge and observation practice checklist with 24 items was used to assess the practice of internship students on maintenances of emergency crash cart system. Descriptive and inferential statistics was used to analyze the collected data. Results Majority (89; 95.7%) of the internship students are in the age group of 20 to 25 years and most (59; 63.4%) of internship students are working in wards. Of that 79 (84.9%) internship students have average knowledge with mean 18.1, median 19, and standard deviation (SD) 3.2. Majority 90 (96.7%) of the internship students have satisfactory practice on emergency crash carts with mean 22.9, median 23, and SD 1. 11. There is a moderate positive linear relationship between knowledge and practice scores of the internship students on the emergency crash cart system (r = 0.38, df =92, p = 0.05). Conclusions The study concludes nursing internship students have average knowledge about emergency crash cart system. And the practice of internship students on maintenance of crash cart was satisfactory. The study thus implies the need for frequent reinforcement and training programs, which may help the internship students to improve knowledge on emergency crash cart systems. Trans femme individuals have faced high rates of violence, discrimination, and prejudice all because they are viewed as inferior for 'choosing' to leave behind male superiority. This study includes references to several studies to help readers to understand the discrimination faced by individuals on a feminine spectrum. There are themes of sexual violence against trans femmes, the discrimination faced by them in health care, educational institutes and shelters, and state violence against trans femmes across the globe. This study employed a phenomenological approach. Statistics were taken from research papers published by wellknown trans-rights activists such as Julia Serano. Interviews were read and analyzed to form a perfect understanding of the bigotry faced by the trans community, especially the trans-femme community. Understanding the causes of deaths in Corona Virus Disease of 2019 (COVID-19) patients can help epidemiologists and policy makers to develop effective prevention strategies. This study was planned with aim of studying trend of COVID-19 deaths in state of Karnataka and analysing associated factors. The data was extracted from media bulletins released by Government of Karnataka which was published in its official website and entered in Microsoft excel and analysed using SPSS version 15.0. The mean age (±SD) of individuals who died due to COVID-19 was 60 years (±14.7). Two third of the individuals who died were males and had one or more morbidity. Almost half of those who died (45.5%) were found to have diabetes. There was a linear increasing trend in proportion of individuals having morbidity with advancing age among those who died due to COVID-19. Higher age, male gender and presence of co-morbidity was associated with mortality. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Four cases of primary unilocular thymic with features of bronchogenic cyst are presented. The patients are three men and a woman between the ages of 43 and 57 years. All the patients presented with symptoms of cough, chest pain, and dyspnea. Diagnostic imaging revealed the presence of an anterior mediastinal cystic lesion. Initial mediastinoscopic biopsies were non-diagnostic. Surgical resection of the anterior mediastinal cystic lesion was performed in all patients. Macroscopically, all the lesions were described as large cystic lesions measuring from 2 to 4 cm in largest diameter and containing yellowish fluid. The surface of the cysts was described as corrugated and of brownish color. The walls of the cysts were not thickened and no other elements were described. Histologically, the cystic lesions were characterized by single cystic structures lined by ciliated epithelium. No atypia or mitotic activity was present in any of the cases. Immunohistochemical stains show positive staining of the respiratory epithelium with keratin and negative staining for GATA3, PAX-8, TTF-1, and Napsin.
